I tried calling the Q Street store, because the Division Ave store is soooooo bad. The number listed for the Q street store rang through directly to the pharmacy. I asked to be transferred to grocery department, but the person answering the phone couldn't get grocery on the line. Then she wanted to know what I wanted. I told her tamarind paste. She wanted to transfer me to the pharmacist! I told her "NO!" After a few more wasted dialogues, I finally was connected with the grocery department. Well, at least I saved the pharmacist the head ache. Fred Meyer does not monitor the incoming phone calls to its' departments' employees for quality. It shows. read more

Fred Meyer really is a one stop shop for most people. I had never even heard of it before moving to Oregon and it took me a while to go in but now that I live near one I tend to stop by now and then. Sometimes I just need to go to a big box store where I have everything in one place because I don't have time to go to 3 different little stores and when that happens, I run over to Fred Meyer. Fred Meyer isn't bad but it's not my personal first choice of grocery store. They do have good deals though and sell everything from food to clothing and home goods. Just think of it as a smaller version of Wal-Mart but more grocery than clothing and household items. One thing that I don't like is that the staff have no idea what they are selling even though they are in their designated sections. The people at the cheese counter don't know anything about cheese and when I asked a question about what cheese they were giving samples of the woman walked around to where I was, picked up the cheese and read me the ingredients. I could have done that! Anyways, for your basic conventional shopping needs this place gets the job done. They do have an organic healthcare and organic foods section which can be confusing because they do not co-mingle their items like conventional and natural toothpaste for example. You have to go to a different health and beauty aisle for the natural toothpaste. The store seems like it's kept pretty clean though which I appreciate and the check out clerks are friendly. The parking lot can get crazy especially when everyone is trying to go get gas at the Fred Meyer gas station. They also have a jewelry counter inside in case you need to buy some diamonds on the way out. Oh, they also have a little daycare section so you can drop your kid off there while you shop. Then you can head over to the beer area and leave your partner who hates shopping at the little beer counter so they can watch the game and have a brew. read more

I went to this location for the first time the other day ; I am not a big fan of Freddie's in the beginning which is why I do not frequent the shop, but it is the only place that sells "WOW" gluten free soft cookies (that I know of). That being said, I received the best customer service I have ever received in a grocery store ever! Three people approached me with an eagerness to assist me in any way they could; all reps were extremely, kind, friendly and helpful. read more

I recently went to this store with my toddler and had his sweater I bought at Gymboree in my hands. I put it on him and security started following me around the store. I was pretty irritated. HE WAS SO OBVIOUS. I then showed the tag to the cashier and let her know, as nicely as I could, that I had purchased the sweater at another store. I was pretty irritated. I've always loved shopping at Fred Meyer. However this afternoon was completely disappointing. Whoever manages the Deli should be fired! My last two visits at the deli have been terrible! None of the employees seem happy to be there. We stand at the case to order for what seems like forever, watching workers walk by as if we aren't there. They weren't busy, we were the only ones there at the time. I had to go to the self checkout at the grocery department to pay because nobody offered to ring me up at the deli register. Then walked back to find a table to eat. The dining area was filthy... dirty tables and full garbage cans. This store is so beautiful after the remodel. It's a shame that the deli is so neglected. No excuse for such filthy conditions and poor service. I won't be returning to the deli. read more

#racism #Eugene #FredMeyer June 29 and earlier on March 23 I was referred to in disparaging comments by staff at the checkout line in terms of my race to my face. The first time the checker (who still works there) made his comment about me--"How about those people?"--in a sneering tone to another checker while I was standing right in front of both of them; the second time the checker stared right at me and announced I couldn't use my card unless I showed identification "because I looked under the age of 27" (I'm actually old enough to be this girl's grandmother). Either remark would have not been been made had I been white. Neither remark was precipitated by any sort of argument or disagreement; they just came out of the blue in the usual course of checking out. I'll be looking into where I can lodge my complaint and let you know the outcome. read more

Is it bad that you bet better service at Walmart? The young men I always encounter are quick to make fun of a customer as soon as they turn their back. I have encountered this twice already and the manager has done nothing. I even seen these kids make fun of an old woman as soon as she left. So service is horrible, god forbid you actually have to return something, even if you are the only one in line it can take a while for any employee to get to you. I like the clothes here but other than that my grocery shopping is now at Walmart, were at least they wait for you to leave before remarks about ur appearance or anything about you. This place has it all & is open late. Great produce dept with lots of organic veggies. They also have a terrific meat dept with good prices. The beer is always super cold with a huge selection. Best place to buy big bags of ice for cheap. read more

I like this store. A lot. We dont have FM in CA so whenever I am in town I look forward to stocking up here for my short stays in Eugene. There prices are good, or at least seem reasonable compared to what I pay at home. My favorite is their deli counter. What a great selection of meats, cheese, and fresh salads. The gorgonzola chicken pasta is amazing! And the selection of micro brewery beers is awesome! This store is like a Safeway and Target combined. Clearly too much time can be spent here from furniture to bakery goods. It's all here in a one stop shop. Do they have motor oil??? I noticed poor reviews but I have never had a bad experience here. I am a wanderer and very self sufficient and I would rather search and find things on my own so I guess customer service has not been an issue for me. That being said, great place to shop! I shop organic and the river road area doesnt have much selection for organic groceries. Luckily Fred Meyer's has a really nice sized organic section in their store. You can get healthy meats, produce, frozen foods, dairy products, eggs, tempeh, coffee, bread, bulk foods, soaps, personal hygiene products, natural home products, and so much more. Glad to see such a selection in Freddy's now they just need to banish the plastic bags like PC did! read more

The one star is posted because I have no option for ZERO, but then too there are a few employees left...the ones nearing retirement and/or the ones whose plan it is to retire with FM....that are amazing and will be missed by customers that opt not to endure the frustration that's become part of the FM shopping experience. Fred Meyer has recently and once again remodeled their store. This time FM has made it quite the trek to get from any of the entrances to get a mere gallon of milk and even farther to get a pack of toilet tissue. Add that journey onto the moving of ALL store-front disabled parking on the W. 11th entrance down a considerable way --- at the end of the row farthest from the entrance --- so that it will be easier for the employees catering delivering online orders...makes it near to impossible for the disabled and the elderly. I'll add too that the parking spots for these folks that were moved are the ones that make the pharmacy accessible with a far less hike. I am sickened by what Kroger has done to FM...Fred Meyer all but catered to those who shopped at his store when he began and now Kroger has ensured that they, the company, is the only one catered to financially---I just know Fred Meyer is turning in his grave! Prices went up too...apparently the consumer is now paying for the remodel so they could run a sushi bar..last time they remodeled it was for a wine tasting and cooling area; products were omitted from being sold there anylonger to gain room desired and the ones that weren't went up in price. And lastly, in the negative, their produce is below any standards I've ever seen in my life now! I cannot stand Walmart but it looks as though Walmart is going to be option for many that I know now, myself included. On the positive side...I love going to their gas station, where the asst. mgr. (I believe he is), Richard, is efficient and is great about reminding employees about locking the customers gas cap. read more

Spent 40 minutes just for 20 dollars worth of gas!! Wasted an entire lunch hour just for gas! Wow! Pump ran penny by penny, not to mention staff was super slow and really didn't care about good customer service. Never again will we get gas there! My issue is with the bakery...a few months ago I bought a small cake for a friend, after cutting and plating it, we noticed it was moldy on the bottom. This morning I was there looking at the bread selection and found a loaf with a small spot of mold on the top so I took it over to the bakery and told one of the ladies what I found so someone else didn't buy it. Freddy's is our go-to store because of its location, and we love the expanded "Natural Food" section. The produce is fine (tho the produce section is too small, and crowded with carts), and the store has almost all the items we need. We like the checkers, and have favorites who are extra friendly. Plus, the Starbucks, pharmacy and bathrooms are handy. I like the one-stop shopping - clothes, kids' stuff, house/car/landscape items, etc. Parking isn't a problem if you know where to go - but you do have to watch the other cars carefully. My two complaints: the Customer Service desk, while the clerks are very pleasant, it's often inadequately staffed; and items I like in the Natural Food area are often not in stock. In fact, stocking seems to be a big issue, causing tie-ups in the aisles. But otherwise we love Freddy's. read more

I'd give it a 2 1/2 star review. Like a lady in an earlier review she stated that she hated the guy seeling the register guard. I go in there A LOT sometimes every other day and the guy looks at me and says "free paper!" EVERY....OTHER....DAMN...DAY!! Well I HATE thier parking lot! I was there the other day and well I almost got into a three car wreak! I was turning into the little island parking and a lady was stopped to let people go around her. So I started to go around her (SLOWLY!) and for some damn reason the woman threw her can in reverse AND BACKED UP! well thats all fine and dandy but hell I had to throw MY car into reverse and back up REALLY fast and almost hit the person inback of me trying to get to a spot. And the lady KEPT BACKING UP, all the while the lady pulling outa the spot was watching this shaking her head and waiving franticly while the lady almost hit me two more times. But the whole icing on the cake? When I could go NOWHERE, the lady (in the car infront of me!!) put her hand up to say STOP! LIKE I COULD GO ANYWHERE! Well after all that crap I ended up going down the street to Wal Mart, found a spot FINE, got what I needed while NOT getting hit by a crazy driver. The reason I come here so much? As far as nearby major retail chains go, this one is probably my favorite. The staff has always been friendly to me and my family. I am always asked if I am finding what I need and if I can't find it there is always an associate around to ask. Produce is usually good, though sometimes it can be a little too ripe. Recently, they have started filling growlers. I admittedly have not tried it, yet, but it is a nice thing for when they get a type of beer I want. Two negative things about this location. The parking lot is atrocious. Whom ever designed it had no concept of traffic patterns. Luckily, this location allows me to park my motorcycle up near the bike racks (security actually recommended I do that after a close call in the lot). Secondly, the meat department is a little pricey. So much so that the clearance meat section is usually well stocked with meat at a more reasonable price. read more
