I don't shop at Fred Meyer's very often. Albertsons and Walmart are close to me. Also Trader Joe's is right by my work. So stopping at these other locations are more convenient for me. My grandma recently passed and I was in charge of the snack table. Trying to feed that many guests and trying to stay within a budget is always a goal. Luckily, Fred Meyer's was having a great deal on a variety of baked goods. I snagged several containers of thier traditional cookies, chocolate pumpkin cookies and the specialty peanut butter and jelly cookies. I had to try all of them of course! And yes, they were all so good! My husband loved the peanut butter and jelly cookies. My favorite was the chocolate pumpkin cookies. It tasted like fall in a small cookie. I'm going to have to grab some more soon! This review is solely on the products. I wasn't greeted or assisted in any way. I will have to be back soon for some more goodies! A customer should not have to spend more time trying to figure out all the loopholes of every sign in the store than actually shopping. It's exhausting. Just walked out the door with 10 avocados for $25 instead of $12.90? Nowhere on the sign does it say that there is a limit! But apparently in the app it does? So then you have to go stand in another line to get the transaction figured out at customer service? I shouldn't need to check the sign, the app and the sales paper with each and every item to figure out what something actually costs, in my humble opinion! This isn't the first time... more often than not I get the check out and it is something different than what was expected. The employee always says, oh did you try this or that? Too much work! So I am done with the slick deceptive practices at this store. I'm sure that I won't be missed. lol read more

Long time Freddy's (as my grandfather called it) fan but this location didn't do it for me...until now. Haven't been in this one in about a year and to paraphrase Patty LaBelle "they've tidied up their point of view...ooh, oh, ooh, oh, ooh...they've got a new attitude". The infrastructure is older, nothing can be done to make it younger, but it is spiffy clean, well organized, well stocked shelves and the organic produce section is expanded and contained a plethora of super fresh, gorgeous produce during my shopping trip today. I bet Patty, who is a Type II diabetic and so likely appreciates the importance of good fruit and veg in a diet, would approve too. Just some of the options today were red beets and golden beets in big bunches with super fresh greens too (what do you mean you didn't know you can eat beet greens...they're delicious), spring leeks, purple sprouting broccoli - aka brassicas oleracea - which is an English heirloom variety in peak season in April, broccolo romanesco - an Italian variety that looks like swirly green cauliflower and so good, bunches of multi color carrots, watercress, radish, fennel...the list goes on. And here's a tidbit about why I am a fan of Freddy's. Everything being connected to everything else as it is. Fred Meyer was a real guy who grew up in Brooklyn. Just like my hubby. He moved to Portland (OR) and from there in 1922 started what would be a retail chain of Fred Meyer stores. I was born in Portland - although waaaay later than 1922. My grandfather was born the same year Fred started his store and many years later my grandfather would take the little tot version of me to Freddy's in Portland on Saturday mornings for grocery shopping but not until we had breakfast at Elmers. Elmers is still around in several cities. Including Portland and Boise. Fred Meyer's is still around in lots of cities. Including Portland and Boise. I am not a nostaligic person by nature because in general I think things get better as they evolve, but it is comforting somehow to have some things remain in place. Although Freddy's is no longer owned by the Fred Meyer family but now owned by Kroger foods. To illustrate change is good, Fred's is even better now that Kroger's owns it. Mr. Meyer would be proud. I sure do appreciate the organic produce sections and their artisan cheese offerings in some of the stores (but not really this one) given Kroger's and Murray cheese now are "keepin' company" as my Brooklyn raised father-in-law used to call a fine romance. read more

Stopped in for some shaving cream as this was the closest store to our hotel. Was able to find what I needed and get in and out within 5 minutes or so. Was not very busy on a Sunday morning which was surprising but could have been slow due to the rainy and cold weather. read more

First off I love the jewlery department, especially Matt. He always takes his time to help me find just the right accessory. The rest of the store overall is clean, well laid out has a decent supply of products. Not quite the selection of the Fred Meyer up on Chinden and Ten Mile, but enough to get by. The prices are a little higher than Winco or Walmart but I love the fuel point program (gas prices, am I right?) If you get thrifty and use there app for coupons, prices are similar to other supermarkets. read more

What has happened to this Fred Meyer? At any given moment, it looks as if the store has been looted. Produce department has taken a nose-dive in terms of quality and selection. I used to be able to stop in to Freddy's and get everything on my list. Now? Every time I go to Freddy's, I ask myself, 'Why did I go to Freddy's?' I have tossed so many bad packages of meat that I no longer buy meat from them. It's a shame. Freddy's has been my store for 7 years. It's cheaper to buy staple items at Walmart. read more

This is my store! Roommate and I...NO JOKE...go here every day or every other day I know, its ridiculous af lok. We don't have much of a life. So! We go to Freddie's on Chinden lol. I buy fresh veggies all of the time. That's another reason why I go a lot. I's a healthy eater....ISH lol. I try, for real Lately their produce has been EEEK! but that happens every once in awhile lol. The staff here. OMG! THE BEST! Darla, Kendall, Gina, Jody in the meat department, along with Daryl, and Noah...ALL amazing people! New girl, Alla, and a few others...make shopping there so much more fun...especially since we go a LOT. Liz, front end manager...FANTASTIC human being! Super hard worker. Only cashier who is SUPERRRR bitchy is Linda...pretty sure that's her name. WOW! she is miserable. Thankfully we know everyone else..so we just pick one of our homies, hahaha! I love that store. Tina in the meat dept is absolutely horrible and probably the rudest person in the corporation. I have been treated poorly by her each time I have had the unpleasant task of dealing with her. I have overheard other customers complain about her as well. Not sure why she is in a customer based dept when she seems to hate her job. Friday I was there at lunch, there was a quite a few people waiting there turn. It was my turn, and she went to a man at the other display case to help him. He told her that I was there long before him and she said "I don't care. I am over here now and will help you" I walked away without buying anything. Most of the time if I see her working, I avoid the area all together. read more

Today I decided to buy some seafood today. what a mistake it was I chose to get oysters for dinner and usually I buy extra because one or two might be bad. excited I was to eat them I took them out of the bag and saw plastic rap around them keeping them closed. once I took the plastic off of them every single one of my oysters were rotten/dead. Especially one incredibly rude employee named Danita and her bad attitude, told us we would be escorted out of the store when I politely informed her what the corporate policy is on the matter. I usually shop the Franklin store. Especially for fish. zither seafood department is great. They are so helpful in selecting fish for the ceviches I make. Today I was near the Garden City store and stopped for fish. The employee behind the counter first yelled at me to take my hand off the glass as I pointed to the fish. He could have could you please not, etc. But in a curt way actually reprimanded me. Not a good start. Then he was entirely unhelpful and contradicted questions I had. He even tried to tell me that some dry tired looking fish he had on display, was just put out. I know fish and he clearly didn't know fish nor how to treat customers. He is a disgrace to their brand and to his store. Worst and most unusual encounter I've had in years. o read more

I have to admit, writing reviews of grocery stores is not my favorite sort of review to write. Especially, the large, chain super store variety. But, sometimes, an experience shines so brightly, that a mention is in order. I came here, limited on time, in preparation of a birthday party. I needed, ingredients for the birthday boy's requested dinner, a cake, candles, and balloons. First, wonderful thing--I was able to get all of these things here. They don't call 'em "One Stop Shopping" for nothin'. Saved my last minute party planning life. Secondly, I kind of decided at the last minute that helium balloons were a festivity must. So, cart full, I made my way over to the floral department to get the balloons. I asked a gentleman working the self-check-out where I get the balloons filled and he said he would do it for me. The self check-out was bustling and in nearly constant need of his attention. He was able to offer swift attentive service to those at the self-check-out while still speedily filling my balloons. Seriously. The guy was a one man wonder. And, through all the chaos, he was perfectly friendly and accommodating to all throughout--truly a gem of an employee. So, for the procrastinating among us that on occasion find ourselves in dire need of one-stop-shopping? Get to it! read more

I have been to several Fred Meyers around Boise. This one has the best options, service, and lines. I was looking for a couch to put in my place and I had visited two other Meyers around town, this specific one has more stock on hand. I purchased my new couch and the retail department worked with me on a time I could pick up my new buy. The next day I showed up with a truck but the truck bed was a bit smaller than normal. Have no fear the guy that loaded it up pieced the couch together in the truck bed like a Tetris genius! Besides just my couch story, I come her almost weekly to get some of my groceries specifically, my Cheerios! They are almost two dollars cheaper than the other grocery stores. read more

I ordered groceries online to be delivered because I have had recent surgery. The Fred Meyer partner is Instacart. Finished ordering and had to choose a delivery date and time. Reply to every date and time I chose "oops that delivery time is not available, choose a different delivery" I did, today tomorrow, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday - NO DATES OR TIMES WERE AVAILABLE. I called Fred Meyer online service - NO HELP AT ALL - called Instacart, NO HELP AT ALL, I called the manager of Fred Meyer Garden City. He had gone home, not available. I was transferred 4 times before I got to the absent store manager. This is not the type of service we should have. The people who answered the Fred Meyer phones couldn't have cared less that I was not satisfied. read more

We love this location, and I get a little sad when I have to go to another location for a variety of reasons. This pharmacy really doesn't care about its customers. This is the second time I've had to wait and wait to get a prescription filled, but this time it was over 24 hours and 5 phone calls. Each time they said it would be ready in "about an hour.:" Each time it was not. I got several different excuses--they were short-handed, they just bought Shopko and were swamped. . . I'd say use a different pharmacy if you want to see your meds without a big hassle. read more

This store has been great besides the two different instances I've had with the same woman at the customer service desk. She has absolutely no clue the store policies and had told me they don't do two different things on two separate occasions. I know for a fact that ALL Fred Meyer stores do both of the things I requested. She flat out refused and didn't even attempt to try it. She is far from a great example of customer service. I usually shop here but after having to drive all the way to the Franklin store to have them do what she just said they wouldn't, I won't be back to this store because I might lose it on this woman. I check out line was 4 people deep and every cart was FULL. I stepped over to the self check out lane and said can you open another line. The girl told me they didn't have another checker. I said there are 3 of you standing there. At this point she started to get a little snippy, and said not all of them were clocked in. Now the others left the other girl to the floral department and the man went into I believe electronics area. I said with her attitude I could walk out and leave my cart. She said I could go to the check out line, use the self check if I want or and now she did a little hand flip for me to go away and said I could do whatever I wanted. I went back to the line that hasn't moved at all. Then I went back to the first girl to get her name. When she saw me coming she got on the phone to call the manager. I said good because that was what I was going to do. Manager came she said I was yelling at her (lie) I don't what else she said. I talked to the manager I told him I was leaving the cart. Then I noticed a bottle of pop I had been drinking and said I needed to pay for it the manager told me not to worry about it. This person has no business working with the public. She has no idea how to talk to customers. An employee that lies right to their boss shouldn't be trusted in anyway. read more

This location of the chain has a cheese counter, deli, sushi, and fresh fish along with a good selection of ales that I don't find in some of the others. The self check out lanes work good for me allowing me to move in and out of the store quickly. The location also has gas that is one of the lower prices for gas on that side of town. read more

A brand new grocery store is always a good thing. Wide aisles and easy to find groceries. Love their organic and natural food selection. Less foot traffic than the location on Fairview which is great! read more

Coming up from Salt Lake where Smith's are everywhere and falling into the pitfalls of Albertson's pricing up here, I figure if I'm going to take a bath on buying stuff, at least I want the fuel points for it. Food inventory here is a bit light, so even if I lived here, it would be challenging to use for my go-to store, fuel points or not. There is a lot of department store stuff, given that Fred Meyer was primarily a department store chain, I suppose and that end seems pretty good. They would need to at least double their food selection, though, to really get to where they need to be. I wouldn't say it's worth paying the extra money for Albertson's, as the savings here are quite pronounced, but just know going in they don't have everything. At least it's pretty clean inside and you can (almost) one-stop shop, as they promise and if you don't mind compromising. They also have fuel pumps, which automatically gets them no lower than a 3, but they are really not doing enough here to earn stars beyond that. read more

We bought a dining set over the weekend, but the boxed set would not fit into our car. The customer pickup department held the box for us until Friday when we could bring our Prius, which still could not accommodate the large box. The woman staffing the pickup door cheerfully and very professionally unpacked the box and helped me load the various parts and pieces into the Prius, making sure I had all the parts and hardware. For years this was our favorite grocery store. There was remarkable retention of the staff and we always recognized two or three cashiers. Many of the workers stayed for many years. The produce department was outstanding in quality and prices. The organic section was well-tended. Everyone was friendly, and everyone seemed to care about their job. Over the past year our trips have slowly dwindled as bad experiences have accumulated. The first sign something was awry was when a produce worker chewed out a customer who commented on the mold in the strawberries "It's perishable. It molds." Duh. That's why you keep your berries fresh! Why would anyone want to buy moldy berries? The last two trips we made we recognized no one, found little tolerable produce, and have been stunned by the callow attitudes of the workers - and it has been months since we have seen a single long term employee. Last week was the final straw. A visibly ill cashier wiped his nose with his hand repeatedly as he packed our purchases. We came home and disinfected each item. My wife said "I don't think I want to shop here anymore." The sign may say Fred Meyer, but it's not Freddy's anymore. read more

I came in to get a bike that they have on sale in their ad but they don't have them in stock and Tim in sporting goods came and helped me and was willing to check the back and he even started calling nearby stores to see if they had them in stock and while he was calling I myself started calling stores and when I called The store on Chinden and Linder The guy that answered the phone was rude and seemed annoyed that I called him and he told me he didn't know what bike I was talking about because he doesn't know what's in the ad I told him it was a men's cruiser and again he acted annoyed that he would have to go and look shame on you guy at the linder store if you don't want to help people you should get another job and way to go TIM for going above and beyond to help the customer So even though the Garden City store didn't have it but I still give them five stars to where I give the guy at the Linder store zero stars read more

Every product I have ever purchased from this store has been a complete piece of shit. I bought towels from this location and they DO NOT absorb water. Also purchased a pair of leggings that after the first wash were falling apart, the stitching was royally fucked. Paul the customer service representative was a giant dick and because I returned these sub-par products within a short time frame of one another I got put on the quality control list and they let me know that this would be the last time I could ever return anything to this store. I have only ever shopped here twice and both experiences have been absolutely horrible. If I could rate this store on a negative scale I would. read more
