I had to return things while the store was very busy. Anne and Amber helped me out so quickly.

Assistant manager Anthony is THE WORST. It started while I was standing in line after a large holiday grocery run--about $400 worth of items, filling a very full cart. While waiting, a large man in a bright holiday blazer suggested I move to another checkout because it was shorter. I had chosen my lane specifically because it had a bagger, since I currently can't bag groceries due to a shoulder injury. Still, I noticed multiple baggers in nearby lanes who weren't busy, so I assumed one could assist. I agreed and moved. Halfway through checkout, the scanned items were piled so high that the cashier--Jonathan, a polite young man--could barely stack more. I had roughly seven full bags' worth of groceries plus oversized items. Meanwhile, baggers in other lanes were idling or helping customers with far fewer items. It was obvious assistance was needed. None came. I then noticed Anthony--the same man in the bright blazer--leaning on a nearby conveyor belt chatting with a cashier who wasn't even helping a customer. He's well over six feet tall, stocky, and impossible to miss. He was only a few feet away, so I tried to get his attention: "Sir, excuse me." I repeated it. No response. He stared at the floor, continuing his conversation. Assuming he hadn't heard me, I walked closer and tried again. Still nothing. At this point, Anthony was already failing in multiple ways: ignoring a customer, failing to notice the most backed-up lane, and not managing the baggers at all. But it got worse. I spoke loudly and clearly, wondering if he was hearing-impaired, but it became clear he was simply ignoring me. I lightly tapped his elbow. He spun around and snapped, "What?!" in a hostile tone. I was taken aback. This wasn't acceptable from any customer service employee, much less a manager. I explained that Jonathan was overwhelmed with groceries and needed bagging help. Anthony cut me off mid-sentence, angrily telling me the baggers "know how to do their jobs." He looked annoyed that I'd interrupted him while he stood around chatting. He gave me a dismissive, contemptuous look--eyebrows raised, palms out--the universal "you're annoying me, go away" expression. Without any apology, thanks, or offer to help, he turned away as if I didn't exist. I was stunned. In seconds, Anthony made me feel threatened, disrespected, embarrassed, uncomfortable, unappreciated, upset, and as though my long loyalty to Kroger meant nothing. He acted like a bully accustomed to throwing his weight around. It was the most bizarre and unpleasant customer service interaction I've ever had--especially from a manager. Upset, I returned to help Jonathan bag my groceries myself despite my injury. No bagger ever came. No other lane had remotely as many items. If Anthony had been paying any attention, he would have noticed how badly things were mishandled. This should have been effortless: thank me, redirect a bagger, do his job. Instead, Anthony failed completely. I won't return to this location and will drive farther to avoid dealing with someone who seems determined to damage the Kroger brand. When I asked another associate to speak to a manager and she pointed to Anthony, I said, "That's the guy." She laughed and replied, "Oh... I'm not surprised." That says everything. Clearly this is a pattern of behavior--and if he's been rude and hostile to me--he's likely acted this way to other customers as well. Note: If Kroger contacts me and demonstrates this behavior was addressed appropriately, I will consider revising this review to reflect my level of satisfaction with their response. read more

I like a previous reviewer stating that not all Fred Meyer locations are created equal because I seriously could not agree more. I was in the area... The amusing thing to me is that I lived on 68th & Glisan for several years in the way back, prior to Yelp being a 'thing'. This was my store because it was next to my house I was living at and, let's be honest here folks...there STILL, to date is not really another grocery store anywhere nearby! So, friends if you live over here, I am deeply sorry as this store lacks much reason to do better since they have zero competition. It did not occur to me to mind in the way back but now I am a snotty old person who lives in Beaverton where I grocery shop at a multitude of stores. While perusing this store I was realizing that I am happily freaking spoiled. Let's have another conversation about being an ADA person - I have a ruptured Achille's and hobble around with a cane. Of course the whole side swells up just as we get another snow dump, of course it does and hay, I just try to be mindful but there is a point... Legitimately until you have troubles getting around - you just do not understand simple things that can be a huge complication for a person with a wheelchair, cane or walker - or who doesn't have a device but challenges. But then there are things like the only parking lot section you did not bother to shovel being the ADA section?!?! This store seems to lack a lot of the stock of the other stores as well and seriously, check dates of everything you buy... I have been noticing that many of the stores have lots of stuff which is expiring the next day right next to another same item which was good for weeks. This is a Review on FredMeyer's BBQ Ribs, vs. Safeway's BBQ Ribs. I like the Fred Meyer's Home Cheff ribs. Meat was tender. ONLY problem, it was undercooked. We cooked them longer, and you can really taste the sauce! Safeway BBQ Ribs, are pretty good, sometimes, they can be over cooked & tough. I think we've eaten those more, since we live closer to this store. read more

I just find this particular location weird and unsatisfactory and try my best to not have to stop here for groceries. They have an EV charging station out front and that brings me here a few times. The layout is different than other Fred Meyers and almost always they are either not fully stocked or don't have the right items . The fresh produce section is also dismal and the quality is just not at par with other Fred Meyers . I have had minimal Staff interaction so cant really comment on that . read more

James' (at checkout) energy and good vibes are what I miss about how shopping used to be. He made us feel like we were old friends. My favorite area of this Fred Meyer's is the garden section. While smaller than the NE Weidler store's garden area, they often have the plants I need. The selection is vast and varied with many unique varieties. Hydrangeas in color combos I've never seen; bright shade loving plants like ablution and tuberose begonia; and premade shade and sun loving planters. Plus all the basic colorful annuals and perennials. It's super convenient to pull right up to this area, peruse the plants, and load up your car. The rest of the store is your basic Freddie's, carrying housewares, clothing, toys, furniture, kitchenware, paint, hardware, office supplies along with full grocery store. The layout is a bit confusing but that could be because I've been shopping at the NE Weidler store for 20 years. Staff is friendly and helpful. Store is clean, well stocked, lines move quickly, plenty of self checkouts . And if you live in this area, exponentially better than the Gateway location. read more

Since the onset of the pandemic we've been taking advange of Fred Meyer's pickup option, which continues to be free of charge. Order online, lock in your information, select a day and one-hour window pickup time, drive over and call the number on the signs and wait for an attendant to wheel out a cart with your groceries. Since the store fills the online orders a few hours before your scheduled arrival, you can expect to receive a text about a possible substitution for items that aren't in stock. Not an ideal system, since the text offers only one choice -- take it or leave it. Part of the price you pay for ordering online. Overall the system works reasonably well, though occasionally we've taken home orders that were missing items. Still, for the most part this process beats shopping in the physical store. I really debated whether to give three stars here but since we rely on the Glisan St. Freddy's for some of our groceries let's go with four stars and say we're a fan. read more

Was visiting from out of town, and wow, I've never felt a little concerned shopping at a grocery store before. They have elevated levels of security, including a receipt checker, a one way entrance into the grocery side with barriers that set off an alarm when you try to go out then the wrong way, and lots of items are locked up. One of the larger Freddies. . . This location has: A better than usual garden department, better than Gateway's. Big housewares area, toys, electronics... This store carries Boars Head products... they do not have an olive bar... they do have a Starbucks and a little Freddies dining area. We think the Seafood people are cool. They do stocking in the mid-morning, which gives the place a warehouse vibe sometimes. I've been coming here since 2014 and the last 3 years is a huge disappointment. The customer service at the check stands is usually horrible. I've witnessed discrimination multiple time as well as been discriminated against, I guess because I don't look like freak and like I just crawled out of bed. The worst thing I witnessed is the checker and bagger having a conversation about men, man bashing. I was standing right there waiting for Her or They or Them to get done checking my groceries. I'm 50, male, and very kind to all people. I suspect my age is part of the reason I get treated bad here. It holds no baring with these young kids that work here with piercings coming out of all areas of there bodies clearly no regard for how they represent their company. I blame management! Train your peeps to be kind, respectful, present themselves appropriately, and to discriminate. Non-ridiculous looking and acting people deserve respect also. I have to say, I've been a customer here for over 20 years, but the way this store handled the response to the Coronavirus after at least 1 employee tested positive is downright appalling to me...after being asked why they didn't notify customers or even their own employees, the spokesperson said "we defer to the experts"....Nice. Way to pass the buck instead of doing the right thing. Why not just be honest and say "Because if we would have told anyone it would have negatively affected our sales..." Fred Meyer has a little bit of everything, but never everything I need. And I have to be careful, or I'll get what I thought I wanted but it won't be exactly right. Like the half and half I bought last weekend. It looked right, but I should have looked closer because it is fat free half and half. Half and half is BY DEFINITION half fat, so if it is fat free then what exactly is in there? Really, what is it made of and do I want to put that in my body? And the writing is pale and fades into the color of the carton, so it wasn't immediately obvious that I was getting fat free half and half. There weren't that many other choices, either. Maybe this isn't Fred Meyer's fault, that there is this bizarro fat free half and half, but it is their fault that there aren't any other choices. And where was the ricotta cheese? Nowhere, that's where. The cheese selection is very lacking. Where is the Fage yogurt? Nowhere, that's where. Where is the salad bar? Nowhere, but if you want fried food there is plenty of that at the deli counter. The vegetable area is really small for such a big neighborhood store, and honestly isn't very tidy. There are always things on the floor and out of place. The selection isn't varied and if you don't want that variety of tomato it is likely there aren't other choices. They have some things that are handy and good value, like plastic pots for your gardening. I can always find all the dried goods I need like lentils and beans. Lastly, and again I think this is not necessarily Fred Meyer's fault, but they could work harder to keep the weirdos out of the store. The last couple of times I have been there some drama has been playing out. Last week it was a woman yelling that she couldn't find the biscuits, and before that it was a space man wandering picking stuff up and putting it back out of place. The Northwest's own version of a general store, Fred Meyer has not only groceries, but also housewares, hardware, clothing, garden, office, clothing ... you name it, they probably have it and more than likely at a good price. While now owned by a national chain, local management was left in place which has allowed it to keep it's PNW feel. read more

Until managment enforces the mask mandate for employees I will no longer shop at this store. Multiple times I have been in the grocery section when employees, including the grocery manager have their mask pulled down. A few times I've mentioned it they will pull it up until I am a few feet away. The manager is one of the worst offenders and has just shrugged it off when I've tried to talk to him. This Kroger's, oops I mean, Fred Meyer's is actually a Zero star, but they make me give one to do a review. The store has the look and feel of a dystopian movie set in the near future movie. Hyper-capitalism has taken over and proletariat are at each other's throats just the way the overlords at Kroger, oops I mean in the movie,like it. I particularly like getting to be an unpaid employee without any benefits so I can scan my own items, check things out and save them money in the process. If you value your time (and your sanity), don't ever walk in to this Fred Meyer on a Saturday morning if you're in any kind of hurry. I stopped in yesterday with a short and simple mission - bottle of San Pellegrino and a breakfast wrap from the Natural Selections cooler section. I only had a few minutes to spare on my way to judge an 11am cocktail competition (yeah, you read that right), so I made a bee-line for my products and headed up to pay for them. It was at this moment that I entered some sort of vortex containing a slow-motion time warp. I dashed to the Express lane to find an octogenarian with at least 20 items on the belt. Because she's old I'll save my expletive comments, suffice to say that if you have time to shop for more than 15 items, you have time to stand in the regular line. (Censored) Not wanting to wait for what was likely to be a check-writing and check-register updating scenario, I skipped over to the U-scan line, which was at least 1 deep, with all 4 scanners in use. One lady was just standing there staring quizzically at the screen, another girl was scanning an item and not putting on the weight sensor, and then trying to scan it again (unable to decipher the simplest of instructions), a third, this time a guy, was purchasing these giant appliances and laboring to get them from his cart on to the scanner, and a fourth guy had a basket full of produce, and was tediously looking up fruit and vegetable SKU's and entering them by hand. As my heart-rate elevated and the minutes ticked by, I glanced back at the girl who had finally discovered the need to put the scanned item on the sensor so she could proceed. Sweet, she only had 2 items, she'd be done soon. Wait... she's paying with coins and a crumpled bill that the coin acceptor wasn't about to accept. A glance back at the appliance guy found him just barely getting to his second heater. The fruit guy was doing his own thing off in the corner, and the staring lady had either won or lost her staring contest with the checkout screen and moved on, thus bringing me to the front of the line. It took every ounce of me to not lose it right then and there in that Fred Meyer. Normally I can keep my cool, but the situation was dire. These people were much slower (both literally and figuratively) than usual, and I was in a big hurry. I feel like it's common decency to treat the u-scan line like an express line - don't bring a ton of fruit, you don't know the SKU's - and if you lack the basic mental or motor skills to operate a graphics based touch screen and follow basic instructions, then why are you even trying?! Let someone else do it for you. For the sake of humanity. Finally, at long last, the girl with the 2 items got the machine to accept her ratty $$bills. After a good 3 to 4 minutes (to purchase 2 items), she spent at least 20 seconds staring at the screen wondering where her receipt was. I think my BPM was at least 165 at this point. I was visibly sweating. At last, she left. Fruit Loop over in the corner was still paging through different veggie pictures on screen to find SKU's, and appliance guy was wrestling with another big box. I timed myself - less than a minute. That's all I needed. I can't imagine that anyone who has used a U-scan more than about 3 times could not be pretty proficient with it. I snagged my receipt and attempted a hasty exit. A lady with a cart was making diagonal slice across the aisle, effectively bottle-necking traffic. I juked past her and almost Heismaned a dude who tried to cut me off. Half-way to the door I could see the daylight outside and knew that once I was in the open parking lot I could get moving. But alas, one more obstacle remained. Two people had stopped - one entering the store, one leaving - to catch up and say hi. They had each turned their carts to face each other, laterally blocking the entire entrance lengthwise. The few people in front of me started to pile up into a stop-and-go shopping cart jam, and these two oblivious cock(tail) blockers were just yakkin' away. I spotted a small crease off to one side, enough for me to run an end-around and brush past and into the front door vestibule. By this point, after much contemplation, I had convinced myself that making a comment to these people (who were seriously blocking the entrance) would only have slowed me down. I'm sure they would have taken offense, and I really didn't feel the need to ruin their day as much as they were messing with mine. I gave them the stink eye as I dashed past, out of the vortex and into the light of day. Freedom. It took me less time to get all the way to goose hollow from 60th and Glisan than it did to make a simple transaction at this Fred Meyer at 10:37 on a Saturday morning. This is specifically for the Glisan Fred Meyer bakery. My friend always gets the most amazing special order cakes and cupcakes from this bakery so I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered over the phone and they asked about whether I wanted pastel or bright colors and the cake turned out better than I could have imagined! If I could give neagtive stars I would. This pharmacy is a joke. Very high turn over rate and just a big f*!& fest. No one k own what they're doing. Told me my meds would be filled Monday. I get there Tuesday for drive thru pick up and they tell me its still not ready and it will be half hour and next time I should call to make sure its ready.. After waiting I go home and call the next day. Its still not ready!! So the guy tells me to give him 45 minutes. After over 2 hours, I come back to the drive thru, and guess what, still not filled!! She had noe explanation as to why I've been giving the run around and why, after doing what they asked and calling ahead. Are we back to waiting again. read more

I never knew you had to pay 5 cents for those small grocery bags to protect your food from touching other items, as I was grabbing one a manager or a worker ( no idea she wasn't wearing any work clothes) started screaming at me to pay. A little over a week ago, during Pandemic, my Darling Husband and myself were going grocery shopping. I decided to go back and shop at this Northeast Glisan (pronounced Gleeson) street location. There was a few people waiting at the Sandwich counter which is also the Deli for hot foods and cold salads. It was a warm afternoon... so of course... I bought some salad. It was the newer Baked Salmon salad with Quinoa and big diagonally sliced carrots. Oh Em whatever... muy delicioso. (That's Spanish for delicious.) There were a few tourists shopping. Two of those tourists were buying items that could be taken on a picnic... or maybe the pasty men didn't want to pay for room service at their hotel or motel. There are many tourists who shop at Fred Meyer Glisan during all hours of the summertime and sometimes also in the spring... because there are Bagger/ Parcels who will place customer's items into paper shopping bags. I don't know why anybody would want to go through self checkout when the U-Scan monitor isn't friendly. I noticed that there were only two people scanning items at the U-Scan on the left side (when facing the Checkout lanes and the parking lot - which is also South). Besides some of the other household items that my Darling Husband purchased for him and myself there were a few essentials... that I was restocking that I had noticed my Husband put the empty containers for... into the recycle bin inside our pantry. The best part about Fred Meyer is that there are consistently the same items on the shelf on Sale at the same time of year (it's usually Seasonally that items are on Sale... ) but, I was surprised by a clearance sales tag in the HABA (Health and Beauty Aid) department as well. Also with a rewards card (it's like a Membership card)... there are Digital Coupons and deals every week. It's better to shop during the dinner hour... eat a snack before you arrive. And, although there are doughnuts... I don't recommend eating those... while you are shopping. The Fred Meyer is owned by Kroger... and Kroger does prosecute shoplifters. Maybe that's why I didn't see many people who looked like they had been houseless for over a year... or camping for an extended period... inside the NE Glisan Fred Meyer. I didn't go into the Women's restroom though. In the past, I've noticed a few criminals taking a shower in the sink just inside the restroom door. read more

I have been going to this Fred Meyers for almost 10 years now, it's a few blocks from my house. Almost everyone who works here is fantastic and very helpful. HOWEVER one of the managers, I believe her name is Sue, is just over the top rude and completely unhelpful. God forbid you be someone of lower income and need to cash in lottery or cans or anything of that sort, she looks at you like you're poop stuck to her shoe at that point. She runs the customer service desk usually and will just close it down with people waiting for help, if it's actually open she just tells you she can't help you. I was lucky enough that there was another person there who literally contradicted every single thing she said and even showed her how to do what I was asking and her attitude toward me turned extremely nasty. I told her it was unnecessary to speak to me the way she was and it was downright rude. At that point she closed her window and left once again and the other employee had to finish helping customers. It's unfortunate that a manager acts this way. I've made a complaint on site to other store managers and without me even saying her name they know who I'm talking about! Is this the new standard for Fred Meyers employees?? God i hope not, it makes all the wonderful people who do a great job look terrible. If we see her working customer service or a register we avoid her and if we have no choice but to go to her we usually leave and drive up to the Safeway, that's how appalling this woman's behavior is. read more
