It is a Trader Joe's - but I have the feeling it's a bigger one than all the others. Nice using a cart without bumping Into others. But the real enjoyment start when you check out and crew member Asher is there - you are in for a free treat - not only is he vibrant, friendly and cute - he also tells you a small story to every item he is checking you out on! I've always loved Trader Joe's as the prices are reasonable and the food is good. I usually go about once a week and appreciate the friendliness of the employees. I especially want to thank Jesse W. for coming to my rescue today. I was terribly thirsty and had to catch a bus and a long walk and asked him if there was a fountain nearby. He dropped everything and went and got me a tall glass of cool water. That is KINDNESS and is definitely worth a five star review. I was so touched I got teary eyed. I was able to get home safely without perishing from dehydration. Over all an excellent experience . . plus I got the tomatoes and butter I wanted at a reasonable price. read more

Everyone has their Trader Joe's favorites, and I am no exception . I ensure to stock up every time I go to one just in case there is another one of these dreaded pandemics . You don't want to be left at home without your emotional support snacks . Like other TJs this store is tidy, easy to navigate and has a bunch of kind humans as employees . Like most other I do have my favorites but its always great to find a new snack or frozen meal and I always have a hard time sticking only to what I intended to buy. The fresh veggies and fruits are of good quality and last a while . Pricing is great and very rarely do I feel like I left having over spent on things . read more

This Trader Joe's has really large aisles making it easier to navigate with the inevitable crowds. But my favorite thing about this location the layout of the register area; there is actually a place to put the items you have been holding! All the other locations have a pull out shelf that the cashier always pushes in so the shelf is not available. If you are waiting in line holding your groceries, because like me you thought you were stopping in for 1 or 2 items so didn't grab a basket or cart, but acquired an armful of groceries needing both arms to contain, then you can't pull out that darn shelf!!! This location has a far better system. In between the spontaneous purchases and the cash register is, wait, a small counter for you to place your groceries! Genius! Stopped here the other day when my Hollywood Joe's was already depleted of the Nuts About Rosemary holiday item, a can of mixed nuts already seasoned with rosemary. They are great in a bowl on their own or to round out a charcuterie board when entertaining. I called this location and they had a few cans left so I raced over. While there, I had to peruse the entire store, of course. It was a Saturday 2 weeks before Christmas so of course it was packed. They are crowded on a regular Saturday! The parking lot was crazy, cars waiting for spots to open. Inside was just as busy. The store was styled for the season with several displays of holiday items. One are pa was dedicated to "stocking stuffers," another with beautifully gift wrapped boxes of Panettone, in front of the cash registers there were several chocolate gifts ready for spontaneous purchase. Essential oils, olive oil trio, soy candles, a passport of chocolate bars, a collection of dark chocolate, a taste of chocolate covered caramels (yes, I have a thing for dark chocolate) - I wanted everything for myself! Workers were super busy trying to keep shelves stocked and floors clean but two people helped me find the Nuts About Rosemary that were way up high above the regular nuts and dried fruits. I grabbed 4 cans and headed for the register with my prize! That's when I noticed the shelf and wondered why the other stores don't have something so basic but necessary. I get that they push the shelf in to pull up the shopping cart, but the way this store is designed, you can have a permanent shelf and manage the carts. These checkers really bust through the lines! Even with the crowds and shopping carts full, the line moved fast and the staff was friendly. This location and Hollywood are my two favorite locations in Portland. read more

I normally go to the Halsey street location, but my boyfriend & I went to this one tonight for fun #datenight. This location is a little smaller and less fancy, but I absolutely loved all of the fall decorations inside the store! There were even pumpkins outside. I LOVE fall and EVERYTHING pumpkin spice, so I was obviously in heaven (and much more poor) when I saw all of the pumpkin flavored things and the cinnamon scented broomsticks. On the way home I opened the pumpkin spice covered espresso beans and they were INCREDIBLE. So decadent and subtle with the pumpkin but so creamy and rich. I've had the pumpkin pasta and sauce previous seasons and I can already tell you that it will create a quick, simple, autumn dish that will leave you feeling comforted and satisfied. None of the pumpkin treats are ever too sweet at Trader Joe's. I don't know how they do it! There was literally fall themed everything from cookies to soap and anything else you can imagine. It was really hard to curtail myself in there so if you love fall as much as I do, be careful and bring a chaperone. My boyfriends mom (he's featured in the photos but not for sale lol) told me to try the new sea salt & caramel baking chips so I picked up some of those too and I can't wait to try them. I couldn't find the restroom, so I'm not sure if I missed it or if this location didn't have any. I also noticed a smaller selection of non pumpkin spice items, like no coconut non dairy whipped cream. The lines were actually pretty short. My cashier was Dan and he was efficient, but seemed like maybe he was nearing the end of his social meter. Overall good customer service experience and a great TJs! read more

Oh Trader Joe's how I love thee let me count the ways....... This store is fantastic and a pleasure to shop in. Being in an area that drives a great deal of traffic to it, it is super busy at peak times but still pretty easy to shop. They much a lot of thought into the store layout and you can tell by how easily it flows together - transition from one section to another with ease and enjoy yourself. Trader Joe's has branded a ton of different items from frozen to sweets to you name it. Try not getting sucked into trying each and every one of them too fast, your wallet and cupboard space will be severely impacted though your belly and soul will be happy. My 2nd favorite Trader Joe's in the area to shop at - behind Clackamas. read more

Since moving to Southeast Portland, this has been my go-to grocery stop, and now that things are so very different with the pandemic, I'm thrilled to say my Trader Joe's has done a great job of keeping patrons and their staff as safe as possible during these times. They sanitize of every cart, have designated social distancing spaces, they do one in one out for customers, and their cashiers are using every other register to create distance at checkout. Their staff is constantly sanitizing the store, they are reminding people of social distancing if they see customers not respecting it, and their staff are all wearing masks. Also shout out to Joe or Josh.... (I'm sorry I thought I remembered which one it was but it was either Joseph or Joshua, and your coworker called you a shortened version of one of those names. You were on the farthest register from the exit at about 4:15pm today wearing a green face mask.) My cashier at saw it was close to my birthday (2 days ago,) on my ID when I was buying my 3 buck chuck and other necessary provisions to not have to shop for a very long time, and he surprised me with an orchid. I grew up going to this store but it used to be fairly pricey, so I stopped going as a young adult. However, TJ's has maintained its prices during this insane boom where every other corporation is price-gouging to high heaven. Not only is it now one of the most affordable stores in town, but it's a quality store. I was recently diagnosed with a whole string of food allergies and knowing that they have affordable vegan and organic options has been incredibly helpful. And NONE of their products contain dyes! This store also donates food daily to 3-4 different charities, as well as admirable amounts of money. Today was super busy as usual, but I couldn't find some items so I asked Audrey (maybe Aubrey, I hope I got it right!). She explained to me that there's a chain-wide shortage on green onions but suggested another store *and* how best to get there since today is the Portland Marathon. It was also past peach season, so she took me to another area of the store and helped me find an alternative. We talked about working retail and she introduced herself and explained to me how WILDLY well TJ's treats its employees, most importantly how breathtakingly well it compensates its employees, how they overstaff the store so customers can be helped without straining the employees while also giving them great hours, and just overall how nice the company atmosphere is. Having personally run the Target on SE Powell - which is closing next month because of how poorly it's run by Target Corp - I can assure you this is a quality store on all levels. As an Econ major in college, I'm actually shocked to see a company run this ethically in 2023. Also, Audrey has only been here a few months - KEEP HER! She is one of the kindest, most helpful, and genuine retail employees I've ever encountered, and I hired/worked in retail for 5 years. Great work Trader Joe's. read more

Great location with a very open and easily navigable parking lot. All the fall stuff is in and I swear each time I go with my girlfriend she ends up getting a bigger pumpkin scented broom each time. If you're obsessed with the pumpkin spiced everything Trader Joe's will not fail you there. My personal favorite new find was the dill pickle hummus. If you like pickles this hummus hits the spot. It didn't last more than two days in our house. For a busy Sunday at 5 the lines were no longer than one person. This location y was fully staffed and prepared for the weekend lines. We always love the produce here too because it's always fresh! We're TJ shoppers for life that's for sure. read more

Love this store! It was the only store I felt comfortable going to throughout the pandemic. Always helpful and pleasant staff can answer any question you may have and make excellent suggestions too. It's my go to place for dog treats for my two pups, along with the vast array of wines, cheeses, bacon, grocery staples and produce. Being greeted with the Floral dept each time I walk in is consistently uplifting and hard not to bring home a sunny bouquet almost every time I shop there! I went to this location of Trader Joe's today and it was just a little bit busy( which is ok).I tried to ask for help and the employee passing by look at me but totally ignored me. I understand it's busy but at least acknowledge the customer . This is not the first time it happened here. I would not recommend this location because of the employee interaction with customers. Love my neighborhood Trader Joe's! Of course the lines are a little bit longer to get in these days with all of social distancing but I greatly appreciate their 6 feet rule. Once you're inside there's lots of open space and produce and other products are fully stocked. Staff is always helpful and maintains the social distancing while also answering any questions. One of my favorite products right now from Trader Joe's is their Everything but the bagel Greek yogurt cream cheese and their seasoning that goes along with it. I've been making tons of bagels at home and I wouldn't know what I would do without this rad combo. Lots of great plants, flowers, and cute arrangements available right now too. Go pick some up to brighten your home and put a little smile on your face during this uncertain time! read more

This Trader Joe's is the best. I love Trader Joe's in general and the employees at this one are especially helpful and friendly. I've gotten great wine recommendations and they always go out of their way to check on items that are out of stock, answer questions, or replace items that are not up to par. (I notice there are some regular older shoppers who come and just stand around the sample booth chatting to the sample employee and the employee is always so nice and kind to these folks.) Today, as we were chatting, I shared with the cashier that I was having a stressful day. We continued chatting as she checked out my items. At one point, she clanged the bell and I assumed she was calling for bagging help or something. She had actually surreptitiously called someone over and asked them to bring this small bouquet which she handed to me after I had finished checking out, saying she knows it's not much, but she hopes it helps! Every time I ask a Trader Joe's employee how long they've been working there and if they like their job, they give me an enthusiastic "yes." From everything that I hear and read, this company treats their employees right, with kindness, and encourages them to treat customers the same, and it shows! read more

I hesitate to review this location. I've been going to the Trader Joe's on NE Halsey, but the parking situation has gone from frustrating to nightmarish. The one on NW Glisan can be even worse, so I decided to schlep out here. The parking lot is a lot more spacious; even though the store was packed, there were still some open spots. Even better, it's not super tight to drive around in. The extra moving around space is great for my precious nerves. Speaking of extra space, the aisles in the store are also a lot wider! You're not shoulder to shoulder with everyone else in the store. The checkout aisles, however, are remarkably close together. They seem to be needlessly designed that way. They give the cashiers a lot of extra space, but shoppers, with all of their stuff, have almost none. It's a little weird. I'm a big fan of Trader Joe's in general. They all have exactly the same stuff, and it's all the stuff I love. I use it as my lazy day shopping list; I buy chicken salad, egg salad, tomato and red pepper soup, sliced cheese, turkey burgers, tamales, whatever frozen meals I'm craving...I absolutely LOVE the options. The portion sizes are always great for 1-2 people, and the food tastes great. I guess this is my new location! read more

Yay for this neighborhood Trader Joes. We were staying in Portland for the week, renting a house in the Brooklyn district, and this store was the closest grocery store. It was perfect, and the floor staff was very helpful in finding items for me and answering questions. The checkout cashier didn't seem to care one way or the other, but I guess he sees lots of customers every day. The store was well stocked, except for it's vegan freezer section. The floor clerk explained that they were in transition to another supplier. We found enough, though, to carry us through the week. Good selection of produce, even figs from California! read more

This Trader Joe's location was my "home" TJ store for many years when I lived in SE Portland because it was the closest TJ location to me. Funny thing, even though I live in Gresham now, it is STILL the closest TJ to me. (Well, I guess that's a statement that East County NEEDS a TJ store of their own.) That said, I don't mind driving the extra distance to go there. Trader Joe's has some items I like that I just can't get anywhere else, and at a fair price too. One of my favorite items of theirs that "I can't do without" is the uncured, nitrate and nitrite free sliced pastrami. It is perfectly seasoned and wonderfully flavorful. Also, I like to check out their sample counter every time I'm there to get a taste of something new and get a shot of their coffee of the day. I usually like coming here but today I accidentally got too close to a female worker with braids putting up produce and she freaked out quickly putting up her hand at me saying something loudly in her mask and in the middle of saying sorry to her at 6 feet twice she interrupted me and twice recited the same thing aggressively with her hand up, and grabbed her table on wheels and literally ran away like a 12 year old. (A lack of emotional intelligence perhaps) It was a gross and disgusting display of customer service. You should not be hiring employees that treat your good hearted loyal customers like the walking plague in such a manner and if they can't treat your customers with dignity and respect in a place that has medium levels of people in them during this time, then they should not be working there at all. read more

Look, I love Trader Joe's. So do a lot of other folks. If you like TJ's, then you'll like this location. Parking available, location is good because it's a bit isolated. The selection is great and the service is excellent. The issue with TJ's and Aldi's is that you can't just make that your only stop. I still had to head over to another store to complete the shopping experience. But that's what you get with a Trader Joe's... so nothing much different here. I like Trader Joe's in general for the value and quality of the food, but I had an extremely irritating experience at this place. In between dropping my kid off at school and trying to get back to work, I had a few groceries to pick up. Everything went seamlessly until I got to the cash registers where there was one open lane with someone with a large number of groceries. Directly next to it looked like an open register and just had three employees chatting and giggling without a care in the world. When one of them finally looked up and began doing his job, it was made immediately apparent that I was interrupting their fun time. "What are you doing today?" one of them asked me. "Getting out of here as soon as possible," was my response. After checking out, they all were laughing at me. "What did _we_ do?" said one of the snickering employees. The answer: You did nothing. That's the issue. There's a Safeway further up the street and a New Seasons in the area. I'd suggest either. I'd rather have to forage for sewer rats than deal with this place and its incompetent, rude, giggling employees. read more

Been going here for years, & to the stores which were in the same place before that. joe's is joe's. they don't have everything. they can be counted on for certain standards with their own brands (like anything trader joe's brands is non-gmo.) Also, since they get what they sell from other providers, products that you've learned to love can sometimes vanish. But within that context this place works well for me. The biggest benefit (other than being on the way home) is the people--friendly and knowledgeable, willing to find out if they don't know the answer to a quesiton. Usually Trader Joe's staff are the nicest customer service interaction you can get. Although no one was outright rude or mean, the employees seemed very frazzled and weary. I get it; it was midSunday and the lines were long but it was noticeable that the workers were stressed and it's hard to be happy and cheery! Maybe a coworker called out and they were short-staffed? What happened to the good tamales?? The previously-stocked frozen beef tamales had even received a glowing recommendation by a chef interviewed on The Spendid Table! And for years, I had shopped weekly for those amazingly delicious, refrigerated tamales imported straight from Mexico City (containing real ingredients like epazote!) Now the store doesn't have either of those-- only the *terrible* Cedarlane refrigerated tamales, which are now in my fridge, but I will never buy again. I have no compelling reason to return to Trader Joes more than once every 6-8 weeks for a couple sauces and a chocolate protein drink. Btw, I have very severe celiac disease and tamales are one of the safest foods I can eat. (I only have to avoid some mole tamales). So the once-delicious Trader Joe's tamales were a lifeline for me. I'll now take a longer drive to a food truck for my fix, skipping TJ altogether. read more

Typical TJs - same stuff, different location. However, the parking lot, while HUGE, is always, ALWAYS packed. And yet, the store doesn't seem to reflect the parking lot situation. Meaning, I drive around for parking for quite awhile, wait while someone backs out of a space (at the far end of the lot, I'm not immune to walking!), and while others are doing the same. I'm thinking, oh boy this is going to take awhile. Once I get in to TJs however, there seems to be only about 25-30 people, and my wait times to checkout are typical (maybe 5 minutes tops?) So why is the parking lot so packed all the time? Is this lot supposed to be a stand-in for a park-n-ride for the MAX across the street? Maybe. Typical TJs (which I always love by the way) - just beware the parking really is annoying. read more

No other store like it. Absolute heaven for impulse shoppers. A mecca for snacks. They have a little bit of everything to make everyone satisfied. Meats, cheese, produce, etc......too much for a simple review. Here's the deal. some items are so cheap, you fill your little basket up quickly. Then, it gets heavy, and you get a baskcart to unload your goodies in. At the register, you realize all those "cheap" deals add up, and your jaw drops, and you begin to get flush as you fumble for your debit card. Wow!!! $75 worth of snacks !! Jesus H Christ !!! I need more restraint! Excuse me while I snack on some cheese I can't pronounce and guzzle some "three buck Chuck". Burp !! Oh.....beware of going on Sunday. read more

Trader Joe's locations are kinda fungible. It's a company with a carefully crafted vibe that comes across pretty strong. Standards in service and even facilities seem to be applied pretty consistently from place to place so what really sets one spot apart from the other has to be externalities. Things that are unfortunately beyond the individual store's control. In this case the customers here are WAY less snooty than the jerks who shop at the Hollywood store. Holy cow do I hate going over there. It's seriously almost worth buying a car just to be able to make the trip to Holgate without clockwatching a carshare drive. The parking lot seems to have been laid out to facilitate parking and not as some kind of puzzle box from Hell that will summon sex-torture-demons if you're unlucky enough to solve it. It's small but easy to move around in and the shoppers seem to have at least a rudimentary ability to pay attention to the world around them while traversing it. Unlike shoppers at the Hollywood store. This is definitely my favorite TJ's in P-town. The store itself, y'know, it's like every other example. Quirky selection, awesome frozen items and checkers who seem incentivized to move with speed and have elevated bagging efficiency to a high art. Mostly, tho, it's not the Hollywood store. read more

This Trader Joe's in particular is one of the best ones I have been to for my shopping needs. What I like about the company in general is that they sell items you cannot find elsewhere (ethnic sauces, pre made dinners, cheeses etc). It's nice to come to this chain and be able to shop for all your grocery needs and know it is quality, whole products. This store stands out in particular because even though Trader Joe's staff is known for their customer service, this location goes above and beyond. Two employees helped me grind coffee. I know that sounds silly, but I didn't even have to ask. I thought I was done and another one found me and told me I still had leftover beans in the grinder. It's a small gesture and he didn't have to do that, but he did and I appreciate it. This location is also very clean, well staffed and produce is always fresh and displayed well. read more

I've been debating this: do I really need to do one more TJ review? Does the world really need one more TJ review? They are already extremely popular, especially for a chain store. And here's the gist of the review. It's OK to go ahead and do this review. There's nothing wrong reinforcing good. Behavior modification 101 states praise the good; ignore the bad. I'm not going to ignore the bad because I'm pretty sure what little there is of it, is pretty small in amount of occurrences, especially here at this location in the Woodstock area near Reed College. The parking lot is ample, particularly for a TJ. I think I remember from ancient history this used to be an Albertson's store they took over lo many years ago. The parking lot is in great shape surface-wise and easy to get in and out of. Inside the store there are pretty much all the same grocery suspects you enjoy and good sales. It's also very clean, and probably some of the nicest staff members in that industry. And the bell system, yes it adds to the fun of shopping here. This store is a member in excellent standing of the Trader Joe chain. Now get on over there and commence shopping! read more

Look I love Trader Joes but during Covid i have had issues with how they handle the checkout line. Almost everytime i go there they place people in wierd places which will often allow people who are way behind you in line to get checked our first. I understand that Covid sucks and they are trying but that is incredibly frustrating and i had one time where 3 ppl were checked out before me but they were initially behind me. Anyways Trader Joes is awesome and dont want to penalize them for that but hope they can figure out a better solution read more

Not really sure why I'm leaving a review but nonetheless. Visiting Portland. We don't have Trader Joe's back home but I order their "everything bagel" seasoning online and I love it. We were in the area and needed a safe place to make a pit stop. Store seemed dated but was busy and seemed full of happy customers and employees willing to help. Hate to leave a 3 star review but other than a quick bathroom break and the items we order online, it's hard to review. read more
