I always love popping into this store when I'm in the area. The parking is a hassle, but I promise it's worth it once you go inside. There's two floors- downstairs as the majority of their clothes and accessories and the upstairs is filled with furniture and other knickknacks. I've been coming to Rerun for years and it's always been one of my favorite thrifts. It's been a few since my last visit and this was a new location for me. The space is huge! They have a pretty good selection of a lot of different things. They also have house plants (real) randomly spread out for purchase. I did think their prices were a bit high for a thrift store. We had been to a few others the day of this visit that were more fairly priced than Rerun is. Did I still buy something? Yes I did! And the person who rang me out was very nice. I'll be back but would check a few other places before Rerun for price consciousness. read more

They have a great selection of furniture, jewerly, housewares, and nick nacks. They have all kinds of other stuff including a great clothing selection. Their prices are great and I have gotten cool stuff there over the years. The staff are nice and helpful. It can be chaotic in there I think because of how they have it set up. I wish they would have it be more central. The same person who shows the jewerly also makes appointments for people to sell their wares which is seperate from the check out area. I just gave up wanting to buy more jewerly one day and left. It was taking so long to schedule someone to sell their items in the future right in the middle of showing me jewerly. Also, I went their recently around 2:30 pm and there were big furniture items being moved into the store and they were taking over many spots to view items. It was disorgnized and chaotic. I felt in the way and did not know where to go and niether did the people moving stuff. They should have a better staging area not tangled up with their one way door system. My friend and I were heading out of town after a four-day vacation in Portland but wanted to check out Rerun a 10,000 sq ft consignment store~ we were so glad we did! We spent over two hours shopping and found many fabulous bargains in great condition. The variety of goods is exciting with the entire downstairs devoted to clothing, shoes, purses and hats. I have been shopping with rerun for many years starting at their old location on Fremont. I'm glad they are in our neighborhood now and I can walk there regularly. Staff are very friendly and I believe the prices are affordable. They have incredible selection and the inventory is frequently changing! For some reason, my brain thought Rerun was a used record store, so after having brunch at the nearby Denizen's Café (fantastic, BTW!), we wandered over here to check things out, and I'm so very glad we did! Sure, they have used CDs and vinyls, but also, so much more! Furniture, home décor, artwork, electronics, toys and games, collectibles, and an entire basement (not obvious from outside) full of clothing, costumes and accessories, all priced competitively and reasonably. My wife ended up secretly returning and buying, off all things, a giant toy pirate ship that I was ogling for, of all things, using in an upcoming D&D campaign. So...yeah...that's where I'm at in life, haha! But that just goes to show that Rerun2 (there's another one, apparently!) really does have something for everyone; even dorky man-children like me (and all my friends, who were similarly awed by it, so there)! Rerun2 may be the exception to the rule, where the sequel is as good, or better than the original. That's still to be determined, but after striking gold at this location on NE Sandy, this is one Rerun I will happily revisit. read more

They likely have something that suits. It's a fun place to browse and the staff are nice. Remember they are open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday at this location. There's a famous line talking about a box of chocolates. That's what the store is like. Whenever I'm in the area I swing by because you never know. I've found several gems here over the years. The first one was an ikea wall unit. Another gem was a wall first aid metal box. This last time was two leather stools that will go into my mancave. The staff is nice. Sometimes the conversations are awkward. I think I make the owner nervous. I'm waiting for some neon signs, the bumper in the basement or other cool lighting things to be there. read more

Hubby and I were having a pandemic picnic in our car, at the nearby park. While driving for a spot to park, I spotted this store, that I've been meaning to stop by. There's one by my house, and I've past it so many times. I just don't have the time nor the urge to see what's that all about, although, I knew from the outdoor displays, what they are about. I didn't plan to buy, just browsing, getting some additional steps (with my work from home business, sitting is 90%, if you know what I mean). I spotted a few things (yes, I've been looking for those), right away! If I didn't bring hubby along, I probably browse the whole 9 yards, but it's a quickie out the door purchase. One of my friends who was once a more prolific reviewer had catch phrases or slogans toward the beginning of reviews. I thought, and still think, that's cool. So, for Rerun, north of Lloyd Center and the Irvington area, the catch phrase could be: "Condos, cannabis, and cash" It sort of sounds like the title of a movie, much along the lines of "Mother, Jugs, and Speed." Let me explain. There are no condos at Rerun. However, you will now pass by some of the many new wannabe San Francisco-styled condos in this once way less hip area where people are now feigning urban living. There is no cannabis here, either. However, the scent of it will be wafting in the air, and possibly into your sled, as you drive up or down MLK to and from Rerun. Finally, for sellers, there actually is the possibility of converting things you don't need into cash. The only requirement is that they be "too cool for school," unique, and/or necessary and saleable. Cutting to the chase, being a person who hangs his hat in suburbia and likes clean and clutter free modern minimalistic stuff, Rerun isn't my cup of tea ... but they know what they're doing! This outfit has dialed into a niche and done a good job of it. I did not go in here as a buyer, but as a seller. There were some loose odds and ends I wanted to get rid of and I found Rerun on Yelp. Going into Rerun there does not have, say, the posh ambience as when you go into an orthodontist's practice to get braces, you get comfortable, and they explain your options to you in their sales-y style. At Rerun, they instead pull up stools and you sit near the entry as the buyer figures out what they will take from you. They maintain a poker face throughout this ritual, given that they've seen so much, and it can be one person doing this with you ... or it can be two if they're training someone. Note that it's not a "Dew Drop Inn" sort of situation. You need to make an appointment. They are effective at this process. They know what will sell and you will get the stipulated percentage typical at such places when your things do sell. In the few trips I've made there, when guys are doing this task or are up at the cash register, they sport a way cool "hey wow, man" laid back vibe which most people should be able roll with. When the ladies here are doing this task, they've actually been more "all business" and, a time or two, slightly too frosty for my taste. I say this because, one time, something that had been accepted from me ended up back in my pile of "rejects" while I had stepped away and was at the front counter for a matter of seconds. I could have been told of this in a perfunctorily polite way rather than turning around and seeing it in the pile. At this point, it sounds like a 3-star review, right? I am adding the extra star for Rerun because the percentage of the items accepted that sold was up there, not to mention turned around reasonably quickly, the apparent owner is on top of his game and diplomatic in how he interacts with you, and, when the final few items sold, they saved me a trip and deducted the cost of a postage stamp from the proceeds. I appreciated this. This place is bohemian and quirky. Mostly, I liked looking at the old music they had that channeled "Greg Brady hair" the few times I went in. Rerun has a small parking lot in front. If you can't snag a spot, you will have to park in the narrow streets in the neighborhood. One time, I was driving down a nearby street and got excited by a flag I saw hoisted at a neighborhood house. From my car, I asked the inhabitants who were outside, "Hey, isn't that the flag of Lebanon?" (It had a tree in the middle of it.) To this, they beamed and responded, "No, it's the flag of Cascadia!" Just wow ... Ecotopians are a self-regarding lot, aren't they? So, again, there are no condos for sale at Rerun. They don't sell cannabis, either. However, I was able to rid myself of some items that I couldn't use, or didn't want, that others evidently liked and wanted while getting a fistful of dollars. It wasn't a lot of coin, but it was a fair arrangement. (Heck, it wasn't even half of the deeply discounted "is that a mistake?" round trip airfare on the nonstop to Amsterdam during the winter season.) But, in the end, the experience was a more positive and unique one than expected, so I'm a fan in a weird sort of way. read more

I have found some of my favorite things here; a pair of pink silk stretchy pants, a folding art table, some sweet rubber stamps. I can't seem to get their new hours right, whatever they may be, and I'm feeling frustrated that going by today during posted hours (Yelp, Apple Maps, & their literal physical building's painted hours) yielded a closed store yet again. I would love to know what I'm missing, is there a better source for the most up to date hours? Miss this place and always see them open with great furniture outside while unable to make a stop :( read more

Drove past this little vintage joint several times before finally finding an excuse to allow myself to enter ("really, I could use a tea cozy..."). I felt like a shark, circling a tasty fat elephant seal pup, and my mouth watered in glee as I entered... Tiny, but with a fabulous variety: everything from the junk you used to find and treasure in Grandma's garage that she saved from the Depression and the War, to some serious quality vintage/antique furniture. Crazy clothes, lovely clothes, handmade sweaters and gnarly neon polyester paisleys. Some seriously tempting jewelry (not the usual array of fake-pearl clip-on earrings and dusty gold-plated bling). Big important difference from other vintage experiences I've had: SERVICE. We got a speaker. It was broken. I called a couple of days later, and the nice person I spoke to told me there was a 24-hour return policy, but since I hadn't been made aware of it, she said she'd take it back. We took it back and exchanged it for a different speaker. It crackled. I called, and was handed over to Joe, who apparently either runs/owns the place or just handles this sort of stuff... he was great. He told me that he works with a particular guy for his electronics, and that he really trusts the fellow, and that he's usually in on Wednesdays with new stuff, and would we like to wait until Wednesday to see if there was a new speaker in? We would, we did, Joe saved us the speaker and now we're happy with our stereo system -- yay! read more

Consistently awesome. I've been going here for years and they never disapoint. Great prices and selection of shoes and boots, sweaters, vintage dresses, and household...stuff! I've found amazing costume pieces for cheap, including a gold sequin stretchy dress number that is heavy duty - not like cheap fast fashion. It's a treasure hunt and you never know what you will find. The sale stuff is outside on racks at rock bottom prices. I wish they had more room it can get crowded browsing the racks, and it can be a bit dark in there. Happily it looks like there is a new ReRun 2 opening up on NE Sandy near the Safeway. I've been shopping at Rerun for the last eight years or so. I don;t always leave with something, but often, that's because I'm on my bike. : ) I'm a little blown away by reports that employees have been "breathtakingly rude." That has not been my experience, but I do know that retail is a hard line of work - you know, people can be a challenge. In my experience, I've been fascinated by the merchandise or merchandising and with the amount of material coming in and going out of the store, it's no surprise to me that employees are buzzing around. Especially in the Fall, I find them having to balance having furniture outside and the weather. I'm happy to be at the original store, or the new store. I seriously have the hots for Rerun. As a kid who was raised on thrift stores, I have been betrayed by my beloved Goodwill as they continue to raise the prices on the STUFF THEY GOT FOR FREE. Geesh. Back to Rerun. Yes, its small, but that keeps spending under control. A great selection of clothes, housewares, cool furniture and amazingly low prices. Like, steal it prices. This stuff is priced to move and if you visit frequently, you can score some deals almost as good as that friend of yours who is unemployed and goes dumpster diving. I heart this place. I really like Rerun in terms of its stock, but every single time I have been there the staff has been rude, pretentious and less than inviting. I would give them four stars for their items and even most of its pricing is reasonable, but when you ruin a customer's experience it makes stars go away. Kind of like a great restaurant that serves amazing food, but has a sh** staff, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. So to speak. My unsolicited advice is to chill out hipsters, it's a resale shop, not Saks Fifth Avenue. It's so bad it makes me not want to go there anymore. I love the store. Unfortunately, I won't be back because I felt the owners/employees(?) were rude and unprofessional. They were a bit loud chatting with each other and were what I would call pissy and dismissive to me as well as at least 2 other customers. The things they were discussing (again, loudly) were not very nice. Who is thin, who is fat, who is an idiot, etc etc. Normally I could care less if the staff of a place is chatting, but it was some pretty mean spirited stuff. Apparently they do quite a bit of consignment and require appointments. This is fine, and I'm sure it gets old for them when people walk in with a truckload of stuff and no appointment. However! Rolling your eyes and being an ass to an elderly person or someone who OBVIOUSLY does not quite understand the process (or has not had experience with consignment shops that are so busy they require appointments) is just bad customer service and plain old mean. The other customers can hear/see these interactions as I did and it made me want to walk out, never to return. They couldn't even take a compliment. I told them they had a great store, so much variety, etc and they were like, "uh-huh, we know". I almost started laughing at that point. I mean, they couldn't even say, "hey thanks, we like it too!" or whatever. Now I guess I'm the one that gets to roll their eyes.... read more

This is another "how have I waited so long to write this" review. I discovered Rerun my first week in Portland. I worked across from Emanuel Hospital and took my lunch hours to check out vintage stores and goodwills - which were touted to be so good in Portland. I loved Rerun from the get go. A little of everything, and so nicely displayed. It's a little crowded - stuffwise, but not so bad. Outside there's furniture and other discounted items. It's not super cheap, but you can get a quality piece of vintage furniture for $20 or so if you look hard enough. Clothing is generally good quality stuff and in excellent shape - they are picky. They have large size stuff as well. A nice jewelrey shelf always has a good mix of handmade, vintage and funky more modern stuff. I always find a silly nick-nack I can't do without - like the shiny silver Oregon ashtray I bought. I sell my stuff to them every so often. I stop in every couple months and I usually make enough money to do some shopping! I ask for my handmade jewelry to be returned if not sold, and I'm not completely sure it is... But anyway - I do like htis place! read more

This place is so so. The building is very small, but packs a lot of items. Lots of unique stuff but I was surprised by the ikea furniture- they had stuff from the as is section out on the floor lol When I came in, my phone was dead and I needed GPS to find my way to another shop afterward. A girl at the counter let me charge my phone somewhere in the back while I shopped, which was nice. I walked around, looked for as long as I could, purchased a wicker table tray and a crochet doily for about 10$ all together. When I got to the check out counter, it was like everything changed and I was a nuisance. Another girl at the counter, looks at me like she's annoyed by my sheer existence. Maybe it's been a long day but jeeze man. Chill. I'm a very quite person, when I got to the register I assumed it would immediately register that I am buying something as I hold two items in my hands and not full bags, but it didn't. Awkward as I am, I hold up the items like "yeah I'm buying these things.." lol. When she realizes that I'm not selling anything, and actually buying something, her attitude quickly changed. But not by much. No greeting, no "how's it going". Everywhere I go today, cashiers ask what I'm doing with my day and we talk about my current treasure hunt, but not this place. It was incredibly weird, the way she was interacting with customers. Very apathetically, like every human interaction with a customer is a struggle. What's the word? Snobby? I saw it with other customers too, an older man gets a very quiet and sad greet and he's looks at her like "huh?" Lol. I don't usually comment on employees during shopping experiences on yelp because usually they're not weird/negative enough for me to notice nor care, and because i understand working in retail myself, it can be brutal talking to people all day, but I don't know. It just wasn't a pleasant experience and it left a bad taste in my mouth with this location, especially since the employees working at the secondary location were A LOT nicer. Its not hard to just be polite. Especially if I'm being polite and smiling myself. If you've just moved into Northeast Portland (or anywhere in Portland, really), and you need some funky, high-quality, relatively inexpensive furniture, or cool stuff to put on your wall, Rerun is the place to go. Most of the store's space (including the parking lot) are taken up by vintage furniture finds, but the store also has a pretty decent selection of clothing, shoes, and vintage jewelry. There are some other surprising items -- a small number of used books, DVDs and videos, for instance, as well as an extensive collection of extremely cool old postcards (some of them have been written on and sent, some haven't). The service here is also noteworthy. Many resale stores (particularly vintage clothing stores) are staffed by rather snarky young adults. Not that there's anything wrong with youth or snarkiness (I'd be an absolute hypocrite to claim otherwise), but you know, sometimes Attitude can be a little wearying. Rerun is a mom-and-pop operation, run by a 30ish couple who manage to be hip, knowledgeable and friendly. read more
