Dr. Dechosa is wonderful, along with the staff here. They use a tablet to load you into their system so you can link into self managing appts and prescriptions. It takes a bit of time if it's your first appointment, so be prepared with your basic medical history and prior physicians information, and this will cut down on your Checkin time. Like most PCP's, annual well health physicals should be booked in advance (35 days was the next available when I had called), but they have accommodated my family for sick visits promptly, within same or next day. Our PCP offered great referrals for specialists in areas we needed, and this location has walk in hours almost every day. I honestly don't know what these people are complaining about below, they sound like they have issues that deal with things that have zero to do with a PCP office, but instead with insurance companies, or were calling to grill a receptionist with questions that really should be asked in a consultation with a nurse or doctor. Receptionists make appts, handle billing, check patients in and out, submit paperwork and do requests of doctors. Anything beyond that you need to actually consult a doctor/nurse for, your pharmacist, or your insurance company. read more

Their billing is very aggressive. FREE annual wellness appointment usually results in an additional charged visit. "Long Visit" charge is also being used so check your time. Recent changes in practice seems to put business/financial considerations first. We have been with Ballanger location a long time but as they change, we may have to change also. read more

I've been a patient with FPCA since 2002, but recent changes they've made in their billing have pushed me to leave. After my routine annual physical (which is 100% covered by my insurance BC&BS) I was sent a bill for $210. I pulled the bill from their portal and there was no detail as to what the charge was for. I contacted FPCA via their portal and asked for a detailed bill which took a couple of tries. After reviewing the billing, I still couldn't understand why I had a bill for my annual physical which is 100% covered. So, I spoke with someone in FPCA billing, and I was told that since a regular prescription I take every day was refilled during my visit, this constituted as an additional visit. In all the years I have been going to them, I have never been billed for an extra visit for the doctor entering a prescription refill for me, and I wasn't told during the visit that I would be charged for two visits. I find this HIGHLY DECEPTIVE. I cannot recommend FPCA and I will be looking for another provider outside of FPCA. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Nicole Baruch Myer, D.O. at Frederick Primary Care Associates on September 12, 2025. I'm a 50-year-old male with a significant cancer history (skin, prostate, pheochromocytoma) and high risk factors. I clearly requested basic blood-based screening labs (e.g., CBC, CMP, PSA, etc.). In my experience, Dr. Myer repeatedly said she did not understand my request and suggested I see other specialists instead. I left without any labs ordered. When I reviewed the visit note the next day, it stated that they "do not screen for cancer via blood test." Given my history, that statement and the refusal to order even baseline labs were alarming. In my opinion, this reflected poor listening and substandard care. I left feeling unheard and will be seeking care elsewhere. read more

56 has the rudest receptionist ever, on the phone and in person. Every single time we go there they ask for our insurance card to scan, even though they already scanned in our previous visit a week before. Every time we have to do a compulsory online check-in (it has to be days earlier) and there are 10 pages to go through and when you show up in person they ask you AGAIN all the questions you answered in that 10 pages. once you are in for ANY appointment you must see a nurse first for triage and a lot of questions yet again and only after that are you able to see the doctor!!!!!! I called on Monday to have lab order sent to lab corp for my bloodwork on Friday. I had 8:15 appointment with lab and once again whoever I spoke to in the office of Frederick Primary Care Associates, Solarex Ct. Failed to do their job. When I arrived at the lab they did not have the order. I had to go next door to my doctor's office only to find out they never sent the order, this is the second time this has happened. After sitting in the doctor's office for 45 minutes I finally got the lab order. Absolutely no excuse for this incompetence and people not doing their job. I Frederick primary care on June 16, 2025. The office closes at 8 o'clock and I got there about 7.55pm . I am very sick. I needed to see a doctor, but the receptionist decided they were be doctors for tonight and say I can't see a doctor. I always thought that if you go office and the door is you can get in and see one. They were very, very nasty the receptionist crew. Even had to go to tell me that the doctor couldn't see me because he has to get up at 7 o'clock in the morning. I am because she also stated that she loves it when people feedback. Somebody need to look into this and speak to those receptionist because the doctor is on duty all the time we need it. They are receptionist, not doctors or nurses. I've been with this practice for 8 years and I will not return. I received a reminder from Community Radiology to schedule my mammogram so I did and when I went to the office they asked for my order but I didn't have one because no one told me to get one before the appointment. They said no problem, we can call your primary care doctor and get an order so they called Dr. Dechosa's office and they were told that they would not give me an order for a mammogram because I had not been seen since July, it's April. So I was seen less than a year ago but I can't get an order for a routine screening that could detect cancer. What would this appointment look like? Do I just take off work, go to the office, pay my co-pay, go to the back and say "I'm here for an order to get a mammogram and then leave? Then take off work again to go back to the mammography office? There have been other annoying incidents over the last 2 years but this takes the cake. There is no reason that I should have had to come into the office for this except that they want money because if they were so concerned with healthcare they would have allowed me to have access to it. read more

I'm new to the area and I was looking for a new primary care doctor locally. A friend recommended Family Primary Care Associates - I had no problem getting an appointment and confirmation email ... went today for the appointment. They had NO RECORD of it, then said it was cancelled because they don't accept new Medicare patients! Said they called but I never received it and they didn't bother to leave a message. So I showed up expecting to meet my potential new primary care doctor and instead made a trip for nothing and now I'm looking AGAIN. Obviously I can't review the doctors at this practice but their administrative staff is horrible, and their is absolutely NO INFORMATION on their website that states they are not accepting new Medicare patients - that alone would have been immensely helpful. I really wanted to like this place and give it a chance but they may have the most incompetent staff I've ever had to communicate with. Because of COVID I had to do a televist and I was out of work for over a week. I requested a dr note to get me back to work and they are 1- slow and no urgency what so ever 2- I had to call back 3 days in a row requesting they send my note via email 3- they wrote down the email wrong every time or sent it to the wrong email. After 8 days of no work and no note I had to call the office manager. They need to put their patients first and learn how to prioritize . Not recommending them again. Updated 8/11/2020 So now my husband has shown signs of covid with uncontrollable coughing, wheezing and fatigue. He was seen on 7/21/2020 and was told it would take 2-3 days for results . Then he called back on the 24rh and he was told it would be ten days now for results . Well I called on the tenth day and they did not have results back . Now it has been now Ben TWENTY ONE DAYS and they have no results for him. This place needs to figure their crap out this is absolutely ridiculous. So because he was never told ANYTHING , nor received any kind of call back we quarantined for 15 days and now have been out and about. The front staff at the Urbana Office was degrading to my son who was recently diagnosed with a medical disability and has just received received state funded insurance. I ignored the multiple negative reviews because this office is so conveniently located. My first and only contact with them was on the phone. I'm going from several good years with Kaiser Permanente to shooting in the dark to find a new primary care doctor so obviously i had questions. Forget proximity this place will provide you with a horrible service. After my second question the tone of the receptionist voice had already changed. The thing about the Medical Groups is that they're all scams. You go online. Do your research, find a doctor with impeccable credentials then schedule an appointment. When you show up that Doctor is nowhere to be found. Instead, you wind up with some pasty-faced associate fresh out of medical school. I was a member of Frederick Primary Care for five years and I never met the primary physician. Not once. I was prescribed a drug by one of the medical school graduates that made me nauseous and dizzy to the point that I passed out at work. When I mentioned it to her she said: "Then stop taking them." Frederick Memorial faxed chest X-Rays to their office marked urgent and no one even looked at them until my next appointment and that was only because I asked if they had received them. Absolutely awful front staff. They are rude, condescending, and relish their "power" over you. They try to make decisions that doctors would make. The other reviews about the staff being horrible are all accurate, especially the lengthy one that names the three worst offenders, in particular Clara. SHE IS AWFUL. It's absolutely appalling how I have been treated like garbage again and again. I ALWAYS have to wait at least an hour, and they look at me like I'm crazy when I ask about people going back one after the other, all when they come in after me. They have failed to make the two clicks to finalize my check-in repeatedly, which is even more appalling given the fact that checkin is done online or with a tablet. They don't even process your payment. They are utterly incompetent. They also repeatedly fail to process prescription refill requests and act like you're insane for even requesting a refill. Furthermore, on MULTIPLE occasions I have heard them talking trash about patients, using their names, and loudly discussing their medical issues. I will be reporting them for HIPAA violation on this, and frankly, anything else I can report on them. They should NOT work in healthcare. The office should be completely restaffed, from the ground up. I will be finding another PCP, where the staff have more competence than junior high students. read more

I do not believe that I am in good hands. After hours physicians do not convey any degree of interest or concern. I was prescribed the wrong medication that exacerbated a medical problem. One after hours doctor merely covered up the first doctor's mistake with "their are always side effects." This is true but the medication prescribed was according to the label not to be taken with someone with my condition. The front desk staff is unbelievably rude. Read the "not recommended" reviews because they are accurate and all saying the same thing. There's a middle aged lady with dark hair that has a snarky attitude. There's an older gray-haired lady who is absolutely miserable and wants to make everyone else miserable too. She is rude every time. There's a little young girl named Clara who is absolutely nasty and disrespectful and unapologetic about how her parents grew her to disrespect patients and not feel wrong about it. The front office staff act like you are there to serve them not the other way around. They made me wait 30 minutes before I asked them why they took someone who came in after me to see the same doctor and then they lied to my face and said she checked in after me when I saw her walk in the door 20 minutes after I did. Then they told me the doctor was running an hour and a half late but didn't think it was respectful or professional to tell me this when I walked in the door so I could decide to leave or reschedule, even though when I called just before coming in they said she was only 10 minutes behind. But when I asked 30 minutes later when I would be seen - rude Clara just said to reschedule. No apology, nothing. Then they are behind the desk making nasty remarks when they know they would be upset if someone did the same thing to them. They are always like this and act like you are the one inconveniencing them. They are miserable nasty people with horrible home lives. You absolutely should not be in heathcare if you as heartless as these people and yet these are the exact ones always running the front desk. God forbid one day they all go somewhere when they are sick and in need of some kindness and compassion and get people exactly like themselves. Didn't even see the doctor that day. Absolute disgrace of a front desk staff. The providers are actually mostly kind, mine is actually very good and I highly reccommend, but you have to get by the rude front desk. I don't know why Yelp downgrades posts that are absolutely recommendable because the poor public won't know the truth from looking at the front page where they conveniently keep only the five start reviews. Do not come here if you value your life ! I asked the PA Rebecca Early Lee to check out a mole I was concerned about. She flicked at it, laughed and told me I worried too much. I went to a dermatologist a few months later and it turned out to be melanoma. Could have spared myself an invasive surgery and a lot of worry if it had been diagnosed earlier. They are worthless here and care more about getting you out the door and taking your money than they do about you. I have had to remind them to do certain preventative checks. Dropped them and wouldn't go near this hell hole again with a 10 foot pole ! read more

I went here to get my yearly medical certificate for my CDL. Everything went fine, got my form and left. Submitted the form to MDOT as required. however, got a letter from MDOT stating it was invalid because the National Registry # was left blank so my license was not good. I immediately called the office to get the number and the receptionist transferred me after being on hold a while to dr assistant voice mail where I left message stating urgency of matter to get this information. Never got call back from them. I did searching on web for this and found what I needed and resubmitted the form. guess I should have looked at this form more carefully; however, they should know how to complete the form and make certain it is done correctly NOT me. I can't excuse them not doing this or getting back to me with the information. Therefore, make certain you check your form before you leave their offices!!! read more

If I could give a zero rating I would but Yelp won't allow me. This facility ( actually all of the facilities and locations) and faculty, in my opinion, are totally incompetent. This facility is a member of Privia Medical Group. Privia is suppose to accept Maryland Medicaid. Their website states they except Maryland Medicaid. However, after speaking with so-called reps they are saying they do not except Maryland Medicaid at Frederick Primary Care assoc. Privia Medical Group excepts Maryland Medicaid in their program throughout all of their practices. This is what I was told by a Privia representative. So, I do a little more research and I called Privia medical group and ask for an explanation of why Frederick Primary Care Associates doesn't except Maryland Medicaid even though it's listed as acceptable insurance on their website. Who runs this place?? I could run this place blindfolded. And in my opinion they need to hire a new manager. Obviously the current manager doesn't have a freaking clue of what's going on or what's listed on their website. Must be nice to have an easy job. Total incompetency. read more

Switched to FPCA from Parkview a couple years ago and I love it! Dr Dechosa is awesome. I can always get an appointment and she's pretty good about being on time. I don't ever feel rushed in my appointments, though. The nurses are all fabulous and when I've had to run in for a sick appointment, the doctors and PAs I've seen have all been super awesome and provided fabulous care. I do like that I can get labs done before I leave the office. Something so simple makes a massive difference for a mom with a little one in tow. I have quite a few specialist for chronic conditions and this office seems to be on top of communication with the rest of my medical team, which makes things easier for me. I do wish people who left negative reviews would have included the name(s) of the staff members they had issues with. The whole place certainly shouldn't get low marks because someone was having an off day! (Then again, they seem to be folks who don't review places often... probably just chronic complainers.) I do encourage you to give this place a shot. I recommend Dr Dechosa to family members and friends who are looking for a new medical practice in the area. read more

I've been going to this office since I was a child. This place is horrible. If you have an appointment for 2pm, you won't see a doctor until 4pm. Dr. DeChosa has no problem writing prescriptions for dangerous meds to people for no valid reason, and suddenly they're refusing to fill any of my maintenance medications such as acid reflux and anxiety meds. They're basically forcing me to go without my meds until I find another doctor. They just want money, they don't care about anyones health. read more

While the wait to see the Doctor was somewhat obscene when I finally met the man his bedside manner was not as considerate as I would have preferred and actually bordered on condescending for a time. My real problem with this doctor and his staff occurred when I saw the bill, a VERY exaggerated amount for less than 15 minutes of his time, over an hour of mine, and a prescription for low grade antibiotics. I paid the amount, in excess of $150 with the understanding that I was paid in full. I asked if this was true more than one to make sure and was told 'yes' every time. A few weeks later I receive a bill for a balance for even MORE money. This doctor was not worth near what he's cost me and the attitude of his staff has convinced me to seek medical treatment in the ninth circle of hell before I visit this practice again. read more
