Lots of shops, like to browse. Found all kinds of stuff. Some stuff I found I didn't even know I needed, or at least that's what my wife tells me. Most of the venders are very nice. The food that is offered is really good. So far I have had the mini donuts, kettle corn, hamburger and some kind of Cajun soup with rice. So we had seen billboards and signs for this place many times but never had the chance to see it until yesterday. The poppy farm wasn't open yet so we came here to check it out. First thing parking is $5 to park in a field and it apparently fills up really fast so come early. Secondly, this is a giant lot made up of several little stalls and a few large barns. There is a lot to see here. There are some food vendors so that's great but not so great if you're gluten free. Either way, there's a little bit of everything here. Giant planks of wood, animal skulls, clothing, resale items, rocks and gems and more. I was about to leave empty handed until I found some dolls and toy stalls. Prices are negotiable, the vendors will take offers or at least I was able to get some. It did start to get busy around 10:30 despite the rain coming down. I had a fun day. read more

My fiancé and I happened to come across the trade days on our way out from Fredericksburg. We recently moved into the San Antonio area and have been interested in decor. You can't miss these trade days! It was $5 cash to park in the lot and it was enormous! I could not believe the amount of stands and displays with antiques, trinkets, crafts, and even plants! There was so much to look at and explore :) I really enjoyed walking through and visiting the different stands. It was a hot day, so I was grateful for the froyo stand that offered dairy free pineapple dole whip - the person running it is a genius. I liked that there was such a variety and price range for the stuff here. It would satisfy the thriftiest person to the choosiest - we took some business cards from the small businesses here to commission in the future for home decor :) You have go check this place out if and when you're in town! read more

This is our 3rd and last time going to Fredericksburg Trade Days. This is mostly garage sale items, over priced and most of the booths we're not even open. The property is run down, not $$ is being put into fixing anything up. We have a vintage shop in Oregon, non of this is curated. Waste of time and we won't be going back. We love Fredericksburg so just avoid Trade Days and visit a winery instead. read more

I grew up in this area - grew up knowing this was a thing - and only within the last year or so have I been - twice. Been kicking myself in the butt ever since. This event brings vendors from all over - the stuff you will find is as varied as you can imagine - from antiques, to retrofitted sculptures/lamps/signs, to repurposed wood, to the macabre house of doll heads. Yeah, there is a macabre house of doll heads. I won't go in even on the brightest of days. Anyway - there is also plenty of food and drink to keep you energized and hydrated as you wander around and let your imagination get sparked by all of the creativity around you. Well, as someone who goes to Canton every month I was very disappointed. The prices were high and there was not a lot of old tools and stuff. I did find one booth that had some Coleman Lanterns and the owner started making up lies about the lantern, when I called him out he snatched it out of my hand. I guess if you are an Austin Yuppie, it's great, if you frequent flea markets skip this place. read more

Overall a very nice selection of vendors. Lots of variety and a surprising amount of higher end goods. I was expecting more of a flea market type setting but this was definitely not that. Since the trade days are recurring, a number of the same vendors are there regularly so you can order items for pick up at another time from many as well. There were numerous vendors selling some high quality furniture. I may bring up a truck next time and try to swing a deal. A fair amount of food vendors give good variety for eating on site. A number of the vendors are located inside which was nice on a warm day. This was a pleasant surprise and I am sure we will be back as my wife picked up some nice items and she loves to bargain. read more

Holy crap.....there's all kinds of crap here for sale. The FUN part is that you have to search for the treasure you're there to find.....oh it's there all right. This place has it all and then some. PLENTY to eat and drink. Bathrooms are abundant and it's well laid out. You will see just about everything from firearms to creepy dolls for sale. Get there early because you'll want lots of time to wander around. From the "professional" booth owners to the garage sale types promises to fill your cart with goodies. read more

Wow. I struggle to find the exact descriptive words to explain this place. It is definitely something you must do. Plus, ensure you schedule yourself enough time. My friend and I came close to closing time and had about 40 minutes to explore, and we left wanting to come back and spend just part of a day to see stuff. I have never been somewhere that truly pictured the famous American phrase "one man's junk, is another man's treasure". Yet that doesn't explain it either, because mixed into that are amazing artisan crafts and food. This makes most swap meets, craft shows, antique shows and flea markets I have been to in the past look like childs play. Plus, the pure size of it all, blows the mind. Where do you start? If I was opening some type of boutique hotel or B&B, this would be the BEST place to find décor. There is even a beer garden with live music in the center, and several food stands throughout. You really can easily make a day of it. It might even be a great place for a first date, you will definitely be seeing lots of things that would be great conversation starters. This is also a great place to break up the wine tour visits along the main 290 wine route just outside Fredericksburg. read more

This place is a bit overwhelming your first time and you have to plan to spend a while there wandering through all the aisles. It's really cool to see the random things people are selling, you never know what you'll find. The food options there are pretty good too, although some of them are a little pricey. This is a fairly sizable indoor/outdoor flea market with booths of antiquities; handicrafts (metal objects, goat-milk soap, lathe-turned wooden writing pens, clothing, homemade dog treats, etc.); new commercial items (pampered chef, knives, makeup, bird-houses, fish-grabbers, etc.); foods (spice mixes, flavored vinegars, jars of jams, peppers, etc.); food booths (BBQ, burgers, fish/shrimp, kettlecorn, sandwiches, chicken & dumplings, etc.); and areas with a bunch of metal junk. Parking in the grassy lot is $3. And what a fun time we had! We got some cool things for the house, picked up some delicious flavored vinegar (Silver Mountain Vinegar you rock!!!), enjoyed talking with the vendors, petted a kid (as in baby goat), and made some great deals. Yes, bargaining is allowed and (I assume) expected. Well, at least on the junk. You wouldn't want to do that on the new things because that would just be...well...rude. The place was smaller than I expected but consisted of six LONG barns full of vendors, a bunch of individual vendor shacks and some outdoor vendors. There was also a food court area that smelled really good. The chicken and dumplings looked really tasty and someone said that the fried fish and shrimp was the best that you will find. A guide to the vendors would have been helpful. I'm sure some of them change, but I got the impression that quite a few of them are regulars. It was raining heavily on the day we arrived but the mud wasn't too bad for the most part. They had gravel down and some of the vendors had thrown down rugs or plywood. It made for a very pleasant way to spend half a day and we look forward to a return visit. read more

Cacti, and longhorns, and oddities oh my! Trade Days is everything i've been hoping to find. Yards upon yards of wonderful, interesting finds for great prices. My ADD soon kicked in and I was overwhelmed. where to start where to start? Too bad I don't own a home yet because I'd have a honey do list for days that involved lots of interesting items from Trade Days. Instead, I found some affordable what nots to make my apartment cuter, including a hanging basket for my hummingbird flower seeds(that will soon arrive) for only $2. I even found a frame for a hard to fit print for just $2. A little banged up, which is exactly what my letterpress print was longing for. I was sad to find an intriguing monkey Catherine doll (so I love monkeys, so what) that was much higher than I'd ever pay. collectible schmollectible. I love the fact that you can spend the day roaming the grounds for finds along with your dog since its a pet friendly place. Lots of yummy food for sale, which I wish we'd have tried but we were holding out for dinner in Fredricksburg since it was our first visit. Live music(and beer)added to the atmosphere and made the day even more fun. We visited on a Sunday so it was a little picked over..but most everything was on 'special'...and we got a parking pass to entice us to come back next month. HAPPY TONE! read more

There is a subculture of people who make their living traveling about the country selling their goods at trade shows. I've been to many of these events in my lifetime, but Fredericksburg Trade Days is a step above the rest. As I pulled into the parking lot ($3 to park, but that gets you a pass for the entire weekend), I was met by a field where longhorns grazed and lounged about. This is always a delight to me, and one of the cows walked right up and let me take her picture. She was no more than 5 feet away from me, and posed with her horns held high. Good start to a great day. Then the real fun began. This trade show happens monthly, so the buildings that house the vendors are permanent structures. There are a series of 5 barns in a rows that are full of vendors selling jewelry, clothes, food, and other finds. I'm going to recommend you find Barn #1 and buy cinnamon roasted peanuts to get your day started right, then wind around to the middle and find the Lone Star booth to get all of your armadillo delights. Outside the barns there are even more great shops set up along the way in old houses and structures built from sheet metal and wood and chicken wire. I just loved the look and feel of this area so much. In the center of it all, in a climax of prodigious proportions, is a beer garden with a HUGE selection of different types of beer, everything from Lone Star to specialty German imports. Beer garden. This is the most interesting "Flea Market" I have ever seen. Nearly anything and everything you want is here... somewhere. Locating it may be the problem, but I bet you can find it you look hard enough. My daughter was even given a piece of the Berlin wall. Like Aunt Flo, it happens once a month. And, like Aunt Flo, you will want to wear your comfy clothes, especially shoes, because you will be doing alot of walking at the Trade Days. I also recommend that before you go, that you practice your side-long glance in the mirror and your bargaining skills with your nearest tight-wad neighbor. Unless, of course, you don't mind staring openly gapemouthed at some of the oddities that you will see (including people..actually mostly people) and paying fullprice for some doohickey that you may not even know what it is. As an upstanding member of the Bar, I am practiced in the arts of obfuscation and bargaining, so I did not have to practice these skills. However, any 1000-yard stare practicing was shot out the window when I came across the scary doll hotel- cReepy CrEePY CREEPY! Left me a little bug eyed and extremely puzzled. All in all I had a pretty good day of entertainment and got some good deals. I got a straw cowboy hat that advertised for Sunbeam Bread for $2, and I got to taste various spices mixed in creamy substances for free, and I got a brilliant turquoise beach dress for $20, and some grilled corn on the cob, and got to talk with lots of old people from all over Texas. Obsessed with Trade days! I'd say I'm a pretty seasoned "junker" & this is one of my favorite places. I've never left without a good find or a full wagon. ;-) They have a wide range of stuff to look at. Food trucks and cold drinks easy to get to. They often have live music, it's a great atmosphere. Fun for a girls weekend or just a nice relaxing family day. Such friendly vendors and for the most part REALLY good prices. The flea market is good in itself, HOWEVER, the parking situation is horrible. There is one ONE driveway for entrance and exit. Then once inside you turn either right or left into a huge lot. We shopped for a few hours and then left to walk to the car at 3pm. Got to car at 3:05. Then literally sat in the car, NOT moving because the logistics of the lots did not allow for multiple exits. So, everyone was waiting in aisles/lanes to try to "zipper" into one line to wind around the perimeter in order to get into the one lane to exit. Complete bottleneck. we sat, unmoving for 15 minutes at a time, then move 18 inches. Then stop again. We did not get out of the parking lot until after 4:30!! It was infuriating and totally unnecessary. They need multiple gates that exit out onto the highway. I was secretly wishing that a big hemi pickup would plow thru the barbed wire fence to create another opening to exit. I will never return unless they add some more entrances and especially exits. read more

Finally, I was in F-burg on the same weekend as the Trade Days! This place is HUGE & you may have to spend a couple of days to cover the whole place. There are several large barns with booths selling everything from furniture, clothing, desserts, etc. & there are a few free-standing cottages, sheds & the like that sell antiques, more clothing, yard decorations, etc. There is a central area with a biergarten (that is where the ATM is) & several food trucks offering everything grilled or fried. We were hangry so we hit the food truck that was serving the grilled baloney & cheese sandwiches. OMG, this sandwich was o freakin awe-to-the-some! I know, I know baloney is horrible but when I saw someone walking by with one I was taken back to my youth & fried baloney sandwiches. Thick cuts of baloney that they fry on the flattop before encasing it between thick chunks of bread & cheese. Then grilled & served gooey-good. Instead of fries, we ordered the fried pickles which were tart & crunchy. OK, back to the shopping. With bellies full we wandered around the very eclectic offerings & we walked by the very disturbing doll-head graveyard. This place was repellant & fascinating at the same time. We made a circuit & I believe we covered most of the place. What a fun time, plenty to look at & buy. I even got to play with some baby goats, which I teased H that I was brining one home. If you are ever in Fredericksburg on a Trade Days weekend, you gotta go! read more
