Hence, "The Rock and Roll Fleamarket" every few months on Southtown 101 Bar's parking lot. Although there are a few vendors you can still find collectibles, rarities and other items of interest at fair or competitive prices. Items for the most part are geared towards people with tastes in classic horror films, rare vinyl and other rock and roll memorabilia. For example I bought a copy of John Carpenter's debut film, "Dark Star" on VHS for a buck. I found a few cool concert tees that I will eventually cut out and sew onto hoodies. The degree of the inventory you will find is always contingent on the weather. When it's cold the vendors are sparse. But in the Spring booths are more abundant. The crowd ranges from curious Southtown dwellers, crusty punks, metal heads, record collectors and everyone in between. Vendors, who are typically local artists will work with you on prices. In addition the bar is open early on this event with music on the patio, serving drinks and cooking up burgers. It has a Second Saturday feel with a friendly vibe. I really like this small, local market event. Although it occurs every few months it is still worth checking out. Whether you're looking for vinyl to add to your collection, gotta have your horror film fix or trying to jazz up your style with a little R-n-R this might be your place. Parking can be interesting but is still worth it. ps. You know you need that "Slayer" banner to accompany your armoire in your living room ASAP!

There's all kinds of vendors doing their side hustle, selling old VHS tapes, DVDs, CDs and other rock n roll. There's plenty of artsy kinda rock n roll stuff to check out here too. Need pins to put on your leather jacket? They have protest pins for every possible cause. They sell patches to put on your sleeve to show how tough you are at the next Motley Crue concert. There's always fun stuff you can get here to look like a real punk badass in the mosh pit at the next concert. There's usually a few old concert tee shirts for sale, and lots of prints and depictions of rock legends. However, for my tastes, there's never enough paintings of Elvis on black velvet. The fleamarket is held occasionally in the parking lot of the Southtown 101 Bar. They usually blast some heavy metal music, and it's a fun way to find that KISS statue you know you always wanted, or that Gwar mask that would complete your rock n roll ensemble.

We walked around and ended up in the bar and snack area. I was amazed to see they had a huge Macaw parrot. The parrot seemed to like the music and the crowd so I started to talk to him and he would let me get closer too the cage. We stayed for a while too listen to the music and I had to go the restroom and I was actualLy very surpriseD to find that they had a very very clean restrooms considering all the people theyy have coming in and out of there. We headed to snack bar afterwards but they really didn't have much variety but at the bar that's different they have several variety of beers. All the staff was very pleasant and talkative. Prices were not bad either.

My family was visiting this weekend from another country and we asked them to join us at the market. My husband likes to go sell his junk on the weekend for fun. Next thing we know this guy is harassing us, that we are "selling too much" and the people next to us complained. He wanted us to pay for two lots, even though it was my husbands things and my family was there with us. Here the photos clearly show our two little tables. IN ONE SPOT and the people on the side had 6 adults there selling, but complained we had too much. The patrons who were present were shocked st the unprofessionalism of this "little" man and even began to speak out. Well, he left and the security guard said it was all a misunderstanding. However, this IMP is out there today, telling my husband he needs to pay again for yesterday if he will not let him enter again. He's a thief and collects at will and is abusive. I wonder if the owners know what he's doing with the extra money he bribes out if people??? I've messaged the owners and of course ! No response! Maybe I should call channel 5 news. Last I knew bribery was illegal.

The color of the day was yellow but I thought it was going to be pink. At check out, I went in my backpack to get the credit card and asked for a veterans discount on one item. Estela, the cashier accused me of stealing my own backpack. I got mad and said "I didn't steal blank" and this is my backpack. Can't you see I have my stuff in it?" She ignored me and she and the manager kept looking at me and my backpack so I demanded to know if there was a problem? Estela finally said "no" and I left the store.

Like most Goodwills I've visited, the merchandise is well organized, the bargains are plenty, and the staff is friendly and helpful. What's not to like? Well, I suppose the location is a bit "sketchy," but I frequent thrift stores and charity shops to find good deals, not to post commentary on the socioeconomic status of a particular neighborhood. Never once have I felt threatened walking in the parking lot. Whether you're shopping for gently worn clothes, appliances, toys, electronics, or media (CD, vinyl, cassette, DVD, VHS, games, etc.), you're likely to find at least one treasure per visit. I'm always on the lookout for video game paraphernalia and VCRs to hook up vintage RF consoles to modern TVs via composite. This location has come through for me on several occasions. On recent visits, I've picked up a fully functional VCR for $3.99, an RCA/S-video five-port switch box for $4.99, several Wii titles for $1.99 each, a Game Boy cartridge for 50 cents, and a set of "Donkey Konga" bongos for only $4.99. These are the types of bargains you will find only at garage sales, flea markets, and charity shops. Pro tip: Treat yourself to a soul-satisfying meal at the nearby Tip Top Cafe after shopping here. I emphasize "after," because the ensuing chicken fried steak food coma will dull your senses and cause you to overlook any hidden gems at the store.

It was truly one of the highlights of my trip and I would highly recommend visiting to anyone in the area, and I hope to go again in the future! The parking nearby was a short walk but nothing crazy, and once we got to the Market it was shaded very well and had such a variety of stands both inside and outside of the buildings which I loved. It was a little hot outside so it was nice to be able to rotate between both areas. There was also such a great mix of stores, restaurants, snack stands, and artisans and crafts throughout. We grabbed some aguas frescas to sip on while we explored and they were delicious and a great price for how big they were. We had a big breakfast but it would be nice to try some of the many lunch spots they had throughout the market. The stores had everything but I loved the amount of talavera pottery to choose from and stocked up as much as my suitcase would allow. Prices are super reasonable as well considering these are handmade artisan pieces. I use my tazas everyday and they are the best coffee cups I have ever had. The merchants are super friendly and helpful as well. Everyone was very welcoming and made it a great experience. I hope to be back in the future!

There were food, drink, and craft vendors selling in the outdoor market which made the ambiance very lively but not too crowded, as well as live music. Unfortunately, the vendors' food was underwhelming and expensive. I was coming from California and was excited to compare Mexican street food in Texas, but the options were very bland. Esquites - $12, 5 street tacos - $18, Chicken Gorditas -$11, Agua Fresca -$10 I did enjoy looking inside the markets (don't forget there are 2 different buildings for you to do your shopping). You can find some inexpensive souvenirs mixed in with some of higher price points.
