What started off as a great day on a hunt for croc charms quickly turned into shock and tears. As most of you know by now Gaven loves sports especially The Buffalo Bills. So his excitement was real when he found a store dedicated to just sports. Gaven quickly hopped the curb and made his way inside taking it all in. What started as excitement ended in being discriminated in and kicked out of the store. That man you see told my child he wasn't welcome in is store because he's in a wheelchair. When my fierce mama emotions kicked in and I went back to tell him, I hope he sleeps well at night after making a child cry. He proceeded to tell me he didn't care and it's not like he would fit in any of his clothing. Gaven is distraught as he's never experienced anything like this and especially by an adult. I truly hate that he had to experience this, it doesn't matter how many times you tell him, some ppl are just bad and uneducated. It doesn't make the hurt any less. Moral of the story just be kind and think before you speak. read more

I seen this on the inter webs but unfortunately its not dog friendly (although on the videos I see people walking around with their non service animals? Huh . But I'm not one to not follow the rules. So I called and yup they told me only service animals. So it seem like a great flea market but since I normally take my very well behaved dogs with me, I wont be checking this place out. read more

An absolute gem. There really is something for everyone. 2 dollars to park and even if you don't find a bunch of cool items it will keep you busy for at least 2 hours. Vintage items ,food, plants, Amazon wear house stuff. I love the $5 tables. You name it you can find it here and don't be afraid to haggle. read more

Been coming here my whole life. Still classic flea market. Where else can you get live birds, nachos, pickles, big red, sports jerseys, fake designer purses and wallets, paper back books, rugs, plants, and golf clubs all in one spot? Does not disappoint. read more

Overall the selection is good at this flea market. I have found some bucket list items at the flea market for very low prices. I am an avid collector of vintage furnishings, art, and antiques. However, I do have a bone to pick with one vendor here. Older Asian gentleman with a corner booth filled with golf clubs and antique art. I have made several attempts to buy things from him and he simply will not sell anything that I make an offer on. I made an offer on a golf club he had but he refused to sell it and did not make a counter offer. He rudely took it from my hands and put it back where it was. Then I asked if I could look at his art collection behind a part of his booth that was roped off and he also said no. The majority of art and antiques that he has "for sale" is behind the roped off portion of his booth. How am I to potentially buy something when everything is crowded behind a rope and no option to look through it? I'm convinced this man specifically does not want to do business, he is just a hoarder. read more

A fun, weekend roadtrip without the hotel necessity. Have a cart or small wagon; deals you will find a plenty and with so many vendors (a fair price you will fiind)...Comfortable shoes and plenty of cash is always best (than long lines at the ATM with costly fees). We loved being able to walk around, interact with different vendors with such wide variety of and finding bargains galore with such simple vendors that welcome everyone. What's there to say about this place that hasn't already been said. It used to have a charm to it, now it's overrun by vendors with junk. If you like flea-markets with a steady stream of people, families with strollers that clog the aisles so you can't see what people are selling, tipsy patrons whose drinks spill on you as you pass them in traffic and sellers who refuse to negotiate on prices then this is your place. There are a few cool vendors to look for here though, the ladies in the far left aisles that sell books would be the only bright spot you'll find. Other than that most of the stuff you will find here is basic fare, stuff that you already find at Village Trader and the Mission Open-Air Flea market. In years past there used to be more artsy stuff and really nice antiques at fair prices, which created this quirky vibe. All I see now are Tap-Out t-shirts, knockoff Jordan 32's and mountains of roadside-found junk. In addition most of the stuff here is a bit overpriced. And if you are looking for fine cuisine you always have the snack bar, which sells their nachos and Lite Beers at bistro prices. My review is not to implore you to skip this place, flea-markets are still the last bastion of great bargains, along with the hunt for the next great find. However flea-markets, particularly this one, has quickly become a dumping ground for sellers looking for quick cash. Gone are the days when you went to a flea-market to search for particular vendors. And sellers knew your name and a sense of community was created. Bussey's used to be that place. Now its name is buried underneath the junk it allows it's vendors to pawn on us. P.S. I love this place. As a buyer or seller. Saturdays don't offer a lot of vendors, but those that are there, will wheel and deal since customers are scarce. Sundays are amazing for both buyers and seller. There are vendors that sell the same cheap stuff, but there are some pickers that show up to flip their finds!!! read more

This has got to be one of the largest flea markets in the country. It has about 500 booths, stalls, and permanent buildings that I visited on a busy Sunday afternoon. Today, there were tens of thousands there. There are tons of the same kind of crap there in say about 75% of the booths such as junk I see at the Goodwill. There are leather makers, Mexican pottery vendors, jewelry hawkers and repairers, incense vendors, palm readers, and some people selling very expensive women's handbags. Some of the interesting stalls or permanent rooms that caught my eye were an old school album store that also sold retro sound equipment from the 70s and 80s, a retro t-shirt shop (that room was packed with people), a huge tool shop, and a shop with liquor bottles that had led lights installed in them. 3.5 stars for the junk, but I rounded up because of all the nice vendors who talked to me today. I have hundreds of tweety items that I may sell, so I may inquire about being a vendor one weekend. They let anyone sell things from their home for like $20-$37 for a choice spot on a Sunday, which is the busiest day. You don't have to be a business to sell. There are many individuals and charities who set up booths. One word of caution: if you do decide to sell, you need to get a Texas sales use permit, which is free I believe and available online at the Texas site. Buys: - 2 retro t-shirts $7ish - a lithograph of a New Orleans scene handsigned $25.00 Tips: - parking is $1 and is a bitch. Prepare to walk. - there are food and soda vendors all over. - keep your wallet in your front pocket. I enjoyed my experience at Bussey's, they are a well organized flea market with TONS of vendors (new and old items). Lots of signs being sold the day I was here and definitely a lot of antique items I wish I had time to buy and restore. I also came to Bussey's to check out the scene as a possible vendor. We cleared out our house and my in-laws also have a bunch of stuff to sell as well. I've included photos of the information to sell. Sundays are pretty busy so selling on this day is pricey. Overall, I think Bussey's has got everything together. Buying and selling looks to be a smooth experience. read more

This place has it all everything from antiques to collectibles new and used items odds and ends there literally is something for everyone and price points to fit everyone's budget. Take a stroll and find some unique treasure and then stop and get some amazing food from the concession stand. The concession serve all kinds of food including beer and margaritas. And for the whole family top that off with a great big ice cream cone. The flea market is open Saturdays and Sundays 7 AM to 5 PM but peak hours are between 10 and 2 PM. It's a flea market. Having been here both as a vendor (well, the grandchild of a vendor when my grandparents ran a booth there) and just as a shopper, I've seen the place basically be there for years. There's not really any frills to this...it's open-air, but is paved. Spaces are covered in most of the market, but there's also a lot of hills and the booths are tight fits, partially due to the built-in tables in most booths. Vendors here tend to range from garage-sale types to attempts at mini-malls, with prices ranging from inexpensive to overpriced. Super hot in the summer due to everything being on asphalt. Can be very dirty and cramped during busy times and parking is always a pain. You can find some bargains if you want to spend hours searching through all junk being sold there. If you're looking for a better family experience I would recommend Trader's Village. read more

Unlike the guys on 'American Pickers' I don't have the time to canvas the back roads of America looking for "rusty gold". But that doesn't mean I don't want to go searching for some hidden treasure every once in awhile. That's where Bussey's comes in. Located on the side of I-35 North just north of San Antonio, this weekly hot spot for swappers & bargain hunters alike is my go to Sunday afternoon activity at least once every couple of months or so. There is as wide a variety of stuff here that you're likely to find anywhere. Some of it's good, some of it's crap. But you don't go to the flea market when you need to go to Dillards. You go because you are looking for that item you never knew you needed. Or maybe in the hope of coming across a hidden gem that will go great in your home. The odds of finding that piece can be slim, but that's part of the fun. You might walk away empty handed four times, but if on the fifth visit you find that item you can't do without, then it's all worth it. Now for the basics. Parking costs a buck. If you're like me and hate people milling around looking for a good parking space, just drive to the top of the hill and park there. always plenty of room. The best months to go are probably November through April when the temps are reasonable. It gets pretty hot there. If you go in the summer time, go early. Beat the heat and the crowds. Also, the place is kind of spread out in what appears to be a hap hazard manner so it'll probably take a few visits to get down the path you prefer to take through the market. So if you, like me, fancy yourself as an amateur American Picker, give Bussey's a shot. If you go in expecting to find nothing, then you'll always be right or pleasantly surprised. read more

I have to laugh at some of the reviews! Carlos L. goes to flea markets for the food? Really? Bad food causes you to boycott the flea markets in San Antonio? I stop at Bussey's every time I am in San Antonio. I always find a treasure or 2. The place is huge with lots of vendors. Some are good, some bad. It really depends on your perspective. Looking for reasonable priced plants? That vintage item you did not know you wanted? Crap that should go straight to the dumpster? Crappy concession stand food that Carlos L. expects to be a gourmet meal? You will find it at Bussey's. The idea that flea markets should be like a mall or gourmet restaurant is just plain stupid, so if that is what you are looking for, then don't go to Bussey's. If you like the treasure hunt, plan to spend at least half of the day here. Parking is $1, and they do not charge extra if you have a trailer that takes up an additional spot. As far as the rules, I wish I could bring my Boston Terrier with me, but if they did allow pets, idiots would bring untrained animals and I am sure the owners do not want the liability. As far as loud music being banned, I like that. I may like my favorite music loud, but have a dozen people with different types of loud music at the same time and I get a headache. read more

My children and I come here to hang out walk around. This flea market is a good size. A lot of vendors with mandate neat choices. One mans trash is another mans treasure. We like looking at the old things and ten my children ask me "mummy what is this?". Lol for example what is a payphone? Lol. The bathrooms ok. There are snack places avail. It cost $1 to enter which does not break the bank. I remember when I was in California we had to pay $10 for parking at the San Jose flea market. Bussey's is usually hit or miss depending on the vendors. I think the main thing is to go with an open mind and not have specific expectations. It seems as though the furniture vendors are sparse. I didn't see much in the way of old dressers, side tables, etc. There is a really great camera vendor towards the interior that has stands, and old camera models and parts. For old kids toys this is a mecca with 1980's hot wheels, Tonka trucks, and the occasional vintage lego box. Overall, it's a good place to walk around and waste time. read more

I was raised by two individuals that use "antique" as a verb. The aforementioned people would never, ever pay $5 to park, but I think they'd be intrigued by Bussey's. There are a few booths selling crap, but a number of vendors have interesting and dusty junk that collectors like my parents would love to take home. I found a dresser and cabinet for my new digs and easily negotiated a deal for both pieces. I doubt that I'd ever want to go to Bussey's on a hot day (despite the ice cream and beer) but if you're into poking around other people's used junk, it's worth a look. read more

Busseys has been here forever and we've been going to it almost that long. Sometimes you find something, sometimes you don't--but thats the fun of a flea market. It has a covered area with some permanent shops and an uncovered area as well. Husband and I both found a few items we were very happy with and spent a whopping $25. Sometimes you find more antiques but today there were quite a few empty spaces. Its always hit or miss--and that keeps us coming back. We like it better than Traders Village. Its alot of fun for $1. Try it, you'll like it. read more

What can I say but WOW. This was the first time Ali and I had been to this place. If you've driven past it on your way to Austin be sure you pull in and check it out. We were amazed at all the stalls; a seemingly endless circuit of...everything. Old console games, metalwork, body piercing jewelry, handmade items of all sorts. Also a wealth of antique items. Bring some cash, or they have an ATM, not all vendors take a card. Food stalls are spaced throughout with food to ruin your diet and, of course, beer. I don't think we actually made it around to everything. It's east to retrace your steps and the beer consumption doesn't help your progress! Plenty of shade for hot days! read more

I went to Bussey's for the first time on a gorgeous Saturday morning. What a treat! So many treasures! I didn't have as much time as I would've liked here, so I can't give an opinion on any particular stalls, but it was a wonderful experience!! I should take my sister here... we'd be here open to close I'm sure LOL My favorite stalls were the ones with old video games!! You can find games, systems, accessories all the way back to the Atari!! It's fantastic!! I'm definitely going to be back to buy some SNES and GameBoy games :D Once I get my backyard looking like an actual YARD, I plan to come back here for some cool outdoor decor -- I saw so many neat things!! If you've never been, or you're looking for some unique decor that you know your neighbor won't have, stop in at Bussey's!! **FYI -- you need to pay to park! It was just a couple of dollars (I didn't know before I left but luckily I scrounged up enough change). And the parking lot is HUGE so plan to search for parking, but there are many entrances so you won't have to walk far to get in. read more

I have lived in NB for 10 years and finally made it here. I grew up going to flea markets in the Houston and Pearland area so I think I have a good idea on what to expect. We went on a gorgeous Saturday around 3:30pm. I figure 1-5 hours was enough to get a good feel for the place. I have been looking for an old school dresser to turn into a vanity. It was a pretty windy day so maybe that explains why no one was at the parking booth. Saved me from paying a $1 fee. The food vendors were closing early, no tables were out and very few booths were open. I think they didn't like the 40° and windy weather. The first shop we stopped at had exactly what I was looking for!! We did our rounds, came back and offered $25 less than the original asking price for the solid oak dresser. So be prepared to haggle with prices. Some of the people looked shady. Keep your purses close and your children closer. I will be back on a less windy day and hopefully more than 15% of the vendors will be there. read more

Lots to see and dig through. Parking is only $1. I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the restrooms. The crowds here are pleasant and most of the vendors are friendly. Unfortunately, there seemed to be a lot of junk & a lot of the stuff they were selling was quite overpriced. I did enjoy digging through the stacks of paperback books and vinyl records. Hmm. What to say. Umm. Maybe it was because it was late in the afternoon, it was crowded, and we gave it a quick walk through..or maybe not. Most of what we saw looked like we could've gotten it a quarter of the price at a yard sale. There were a few vendors that seemed to have a few useful things like household items, tools, kidneys in the back, etc. but most seemed like cheap hokey knock off items. Which, yeah, thats part of the flea market thing but I guess I expected a bit more. I second Heather K, the entire time I was there I was thinking, there is no way I'd come here on a hot day. I've always loved Bussey's Flea Market over the many Flea Markets San Antonio and the outskirts of the city have to offer. They have everything you can think of. And they just really offer more antiques, collectibles, and one of kind items than junk and poorly made items you find elsewhere. It's worth the drive and the $1 a carload to park in the massive parking lot. They always have the place packed with vendors and vendors of all sorts. I've found some great vinyl, toys of my childhood, and some one of kind tile just to name a few gems. You will be mesmerized for hours! The market is well covered for well San Antonio's peculiar weather and they have a number of concession stands filled with junk food throughout the market to keep your energy up. read more

Good place to hunt for stuff. Tons of vendors. A place you can really find some deals & vendors will negotiate with you. Open air but not just out in the open exposed to the afternoon sun; there is covering. Found a great bookseller & bought a 90's publication on the history of samurai with great illustrations. A huge Dali coffee table book with all sorts of fun fold outs & inserts. A book on Retro British imagery of the 50's. All 3 for 20$!!! Lots of antique bric-a-brac. Heavy wooden elephant statue 2$!! We had fun treasure hunting. Of course there's junk too but not too many of those 'family dollar stuff' vendors. read more
