Peter and his son were extremely professional and friendly. They were able to come out the following day and earlier than the arranged time. We had issues with both AC units and they inspected every aspect from the thermostat to the transformer, drain lines and the actual units. Our upstairs unit is running perfectly now, and they made some suggestions that will prevent future problems. The downstairs unit needs a part, but the thermostat was replaced and air is flowing again. Once the part comes in, I have no doubt he'll be back to fix it. I got a call from my tenant at 8:00 AM on a Saturday saying they smelled smoke coming from the heating ducts, obviously this got my attention. Free Air Mechanical was referred to me by a work acquaintance so I looked them up on Yelp to see what others had to say. Needless to say I called Free Air within about 5 minutes of reading the reviews. I wish all referrals were as spot on as this one was. I called Free Air at about 8:30 and Peter (Petko) picked up the phone and was able to get out there the same morning. This immediately put my tenant at ease knowing we took this seriously. Unfortunately I didn't get good news but that had nothing to do with Petko's service. He gave me the options available to me and the approximate price it would take to fix it, and let me tell you, this was not an easy fix. The unit was on a raised platform 10 feet in the air. Petko had the knowledge and expertise to take the existing unit down so work could be done on the platform and put the new unit up in the same spot. Needless to say this was more than a 1 day job. We had a rainy spell during this time and Petko assured me the work would be done rain or shine, and true to his word that was in fact the case. When it came time to install the new unit I went to the house to see the progress and let me tell you, nothing lined up perfectly as the new unit had different ducting ports. I have been around for a while and can appreciate the true craftsman when I see one and Petko is in fact not only a Journeyman in his field but he is a Craftsman extraordinaire. He made the needed ducting BY HAND! With only a hand held sheet metal bending tool. It truly was a treat to watch someone that really knows what they are doing. Evo diagramed how they would extend my heating system to include central air and I could tell he knew his trade very well and had lots of experience. I have found water leaking from my central AC and I quoted a couple of companies. Most other companies are big companies which just gave me standard answers and quotes. They seem to have a lot of margins by quoting up the price. Since I already had not so great experience with a big plumbing company who came to find out the leaking issue, I didn't feel like to use another big company for my AC. So I found this small business with just 5 reviews, but all 5 stars. Gave them a call and they are willing to come on the same day. Initially they said 5pm, but they are out working and actually arrived after 6pm. I expected that so it wasn't a problem for me. From our talking, I knew they are a father-son company, who just moved to San Diego from Canada a couple of years ago. They did the work right. They knew their trade very well and found problems quickly. They were also able to fix them without any problems. What I like the most is they care to explain me how AC works, what the problem is, and how to fix it. They also gave me reasonable prices, although I was able to negotiate down a bit. Compared to other quotes I got earlier, their price is very reasonable. I think they don't do a lot of residential repairs, mostly do installation. But to me they are very helpful. They also gave me warranty so if it breaks again I can call them back. It has been a couple of weeks and it's working fine so far. Their honesty and hardworking should be rewarded. They didn't ask me to write a review but I feel it is the right thing to do. I highly recommend them to others. read more

Their skill level was also superior to what I had received from the big names. He has been doing HVAC for sixteen years and it shows. Came on time, (actually a little early) and with a COVID mask. He was helpful, honest, and skilled. I will recommend him and his son to friends who want highly skilled work at an excellent price. The AC was in VERY bad condition in our condo, Peter was able to give us an estimate over the phone then a formal estimate in person. His price was VERY reasonable and A LOT LOWER than any other contractors we contacted (4 other contractor estimates). He came with his own PPE, he completed the job in a timely manner and communication was always on point! He kept all his appointments and was always on time! I am a mechanical engineer so I know what we needed and didn't need, he did not recommend anything that we did not need and he was very straight forward.
