I came in with ideas and leaned on her 16+ of expertise to fine tune the details for my pixie cut. Great chat, helpful and easy to understand styling instructions, and really just exactly what I wanted! Then, as a bonus, I got to meet the salon owner on my way out so I made sure to let her know Brandi did awesome! I would highly recommend this place to anyone. I scheduled a women's haircut, which I thought included a shampoo and style, I did not receive the shampoo and style, just the haircut. I was not consulted before the service began. I have been here several times before to which I have never had them not wash or style my hair. I reached out to the salon, to express my disappoint, I was met with a passive aggressive email blaming me for not speaking up, they also stated it is at the clients discretion to state they want those services during their haircut, I can't find anything on their site stating this. Taking ownership would have been the right thing to do. read more

Extremely disappointed and upset. I went in for a simple highlight asking for a few baby pieces, a trim/bang cut, and hard water treatment which took a total of 5 minutes. Somehow ended up spending 3 hours at this salon, my appointment was at 10am and I didn't leave until 12:45. Keep in mind, I also have shoulder length hair. When I had hair that was at my waist, and asked for a full balayage/cut, it would take three hours and $223. That was without tip. I'm also extremely disappointed in the highlights and color. It looks extremely choppy, like 2000s. They are also blonde, which I did not ask for at all. Wasted three hours of my time and a lot of money for practically nothing. Pretty awful online booking system. I mistakenly made an appointment on the wrong day, but there isn't an option for the user to cancel an appointment. They expect you to call or email. Inefficient and inconvenient. What's worse, because I fumbled with their clumsy online booking system, I mistakenly made some duplicate appointments. They emailed me and said I had to make a deposit on the phone in order to book an appointment. Hilarious that you thought I'd actually do that. Read the other reviews as well, and you'll notice that this establishment proselytizes and waxes political to its clients. Yikes. Second time taking my daughter for a kid's cut and really disappointed again. Both stylists were experienced and both haircuts were awful. Seems like no one wants to cut kids hair. Felt rushed, stylist was disengaged, and didn't do what my daughter wanted. Daughter has long hair and cut took less than 10 minutes. Easily the worst haircut I have ever had. (a mens hair cut) I usually go to MOP down the street and wasn't able to get in today, but was pressed for time, so went to Free to be me. My hair is unbelievably uneven. Hanna spent 10 minutes on the right side of my head and then asked how it looked, seeming to be done. I asked her to cut the left side of my hair, which she stated she could take a little more off, spending about 5 minutes. She asked if it looked like it was even now, which I stated that if she thought it was even, I would go with what she thought. I will be going to MOP tomorrow to see if they can fix this disaster. This place is a hidden GEM!! It's located a minute from where I live literally and they are phenomenal! I had a short notice photoshoot and needed hair and makeup done. I originally had an appt elsewhere but couldn't get the time changed as the call time was moved up. I got in with Coryanna and she did a fabulous job on the look that I needed. It was for a boxing shoot and she nailed it. I had Dutch braids and full face makeup that lasted all day. First off let me say I had high hopes for this place because I've had some issues with other high end salons so I thought I may get more one on one attention at a smaller salon. Not at all. My appointment was early morning, I came from out of state and made arrangements to have some "me time". Their prices on their website were super reasonable for a full highlight and a haircut. I get to the salon on time and when I sit down to show her what I want and tell her that I want to be as blonde as possible and a haircut because I definitely need it. My hair is darker, however color sticks pretty well to my hair and I can go back blonde in one session. So she cuts my hair (roughly) and then of course tells me the price for the highlights. $200 for just highlights. My hair is now slightly lower than my shoulder So I walk outside to call my husband because my now "cheaper" hair session is a good $100 more than what we were thinking. I come back in to tell her sure. Whatever. I want to get it done. I am now told she doesn't have time....are you kidding me? I ask so what am I supposed to do now? You already cut my hair?! Who does that? So I'm either stuck with a shitty "rough" haircut or have her finish cutting my hair. Olivia then tells me she can wash, cut and style my hair for the price of the dry cut. (Which is also not on the menu online). So she asks if I want it any shorter, and I say no....she cut it shorter. She cut off 6inches atleast and didn't even ask me where I wanted it cut to before she made the cut....it was a big change for me. Maybe check with the client on the length before you just chop it all off. This is also the WORST haircut I have ever gotten. Everything is so choppy and the layers are terrible. I don't even want to go back for them to fix it because they will end up doing a worse job on it. I leave without even an apology. What's the point of making an appointment if you only give 5 minutes to talk to the client and upcharge everything $100+. You're better off heading over to Kenneth's! Wanted to charge me before service apparently I have multiple cancelations when I asked the number of times then said I have 4 cancelations in a year. I was looking for a small, modern salon, and this place fit the bill. Things I loved: - The salon is definitely trying to upgrade its decor, and it feels cozy. - The prices are transparent and reasonable. - They accept tips via credit card, which my previous salon did not. No more remembering to get cash! - My cut and color were great, and I commend the stylist for advising me to get partial highlights instead of full, even though that's a cheaper service. That said -- this is a Christian salon. I should have paid closer attention to the salon's website, but I didn't know this until the stylist mentioned it. She then expressed some pretty conservative, controversial views. I quite literally wasn't in a position to debate (my hair was in her hands, after all!), so I nervously made some small talk and tried to change the subject. I'm not sure if the stylist's beliefs reflect the owner's, or if the staff are encouraged to bring up their personal beliefs during appointments, but I felt really uncomfortable. If you're a conservative Christian, or if you don't mind this type of conversation during a cut and color, this is probably a great place to get your hair done. But this isn't my jam, so I'm going to look for a more inclusive environment. read more

I have hesitated writing this, but I am trying to understand what all of the good reviews are for. Yes, the people are friendly, but that doesn't make for a good salon. Clearly, the owner does not give much training to her recruits. Had a new girl and paid the same price as the salons that actually train their stylists, but honestly, it was the worst haircut I have had in years. First, she slopped color all over me. Was messy and lazy. Then the cut...I have very thick hair, just wanted a few inches off and reshaped with long layers like I had. What resulted was a messy triangle shape, no layering, no thinning...she clearly had no understanding of thick hair. Then she took large 3 to 4 inch clumps of hair and ran them one time through a straight iron. Even I know that you won't straighten hair doing that. My hair was frizzy and half-finished when I walked out. When I got home, I noticed a long bloody scrape across my forehead. I was very pleasant and gave her a 20% tip, which I should not have done. I have been going to decent salons for 30 years and this was no better than a cheap chain. Until the owner invests money in training her hires, she should not be charging more than the cheap chains. Had to spend another $60 correcting the mistakes made. For the record, I chose the "intermediate" option, not the lowest, not the director. For the price, there is no excuse for such an unprofessional cut. My advice: Spend the money on the salons that provide adequate training to their stylists. read more

I went for a donation cut about a month ago. I was excited to find this place that does donation cuts and decided to try, rather than going to a big salon. The receptionist person was very friendly when I went in to talk about it, which is why I decided to go. On the day of the cut, though, I found that the stylist person wasn't rude, but didn't feel that she had any passion in doing my hair. What I wanted to do wasn't possible because the time set aside was only for a cut and it just would take more than the time allotted for her at that time. You would think she'd look at her or somebody else's schedule for me to make an appointment at a later date, but she would not say anything when done and I just felt that she wanted to be done with me quickly and let me go. Naturally, I would not want to go back again. If you know a hairstylist there personally or hear from someone that he/she is nice, it would be a good place to go to. read more

Malory was super friendly and held great conversation! She also listened to my personal issues about my hair and gave great professional advice! I got my eyebrows waxed, hair clarification treatment, conditioning treatment and then a cut and blowout. Love this salon! A friend of mine and her daughter were scheduling pedicures for today and asked if my daughter and myself would like to join the fun. Of course we did! The salon, while maybe a little small, was beautifully decorated. It had a very relaxing vibe. The 3 stylists there, McKenna, Brittney and Bobbi, were super friendly. The music was adult contemporary with some popular Christian music also. We were super stoked to support a local Christian business! Our pedicures were done by McKenna and Brittney. I visited this salon several times pre-pandemic. Nice decor. Ronnie is amazing. So nice, listened to what I wanted, just super friendly. One of those folks you know are just honest and true. Haven't gotten haircut since before pandemic. Been cutting and coloring it myself. Def could use some correction esp before I start work at a new job next week. Was excited to get a real haircut. Called for appt. Ronnie was booked so scheduled w/ Brittney. The day before my appt, I realized I hadn't asked about their covid guidleines or mask policy and thought I should check first. Called and spoke w/ a fella who was extremely friendly (same that booked appt). Advised I have a family member (child) who is unvaccinated and high risk. He explained that the salon's policy is masks are optional. I don't have an issue with that but wondered if the stylist, who cannot distance at all from me, would be willing to wear a mask during my brief dry cut. He said he would ask her and call me back. Brittney, the stylist called me back. I explained our situation and asked if she would be willing to wear a mask given we know this potentially deadly virus spreads even from vaccinated people. She told me that no one wears masks there and was certain I would not be comfortable. She further advised that she would not be willing to wear a mask during my cut. Said she wouldn't be comfortable with it, and said she would gladly cancel my appointment which I was so looking forward to. I was so surprised by her response, lack of understanding for our situation, lack of respect for my and my family's health and safety. I'm a grown woman but I started to cry. Not sure why, just probably sheer frustration and disappointment. She had no regard for any of that and seemed indifferent. On top of that, I now need to call around to find another appt. I am sad b/c I love Ronnie, but will not likely return because of this experience. read more

The first time I visited, I had Mackenna, I believe was her name, cut my hair and she was fantastic, and in fact, the only time I ever received a cut I was genuinely happy with. But unfortunately, I don't think she works here anymore and I don't know where she went. I had Olivia cut my hair this time and it wasn't exactly what I wanted. First off, walking in when she approached me, she didn't appear to even want to be doing my hair, like she didn't want to be there, which I get it, we all have those days of not wanting to be at work, but the vibe was a complete 360 from my first visit I had before. She asks me what I want and I tell her and she's not quite following and suggests that my hair has to go shorter than the length I requested with the style I wanted when, it really shouldn't have had to but I brushed it off because I figured, it'll just grow out anyway. She also didn't cut my hair from a middle part so my hair is now uneven. When she asked which side I part it more from, I told her that it really depends on the day, I don't have a particular part I stick with. She asked where it naturally parts and I said the middle but then she proceeded to still cut it from a side part. So, now I have one side longer than the other. I also asked for my hair to be shorter in the back and she made my hair all basically the same length. She didn't even offer to let me see what the back looked like before I left. I also asked for more layers but the layers in the back are really awkward. There's two lengths and the layer laying on top has a significant length difference than the one underneath, showing an awkward gap between the two. Normally I don't like leaving bad reviews, but my mother told me she had also seen Olivia in the past and she also did not listen to her requests and had I known this, I would have had someone else cut my hair. Plus, I just feel like with a cut like this, I could have gone next door to Great Clips, which is where I used to go, but I was never satisfied until I found Free to Be Me. I'm sure you value your staff and all but please listen to your clients in the future. I've called and left a voicemail hoping to get it fixed if at all possible but I haven't heard anything back from them. read more

Read a lot of great reviews and was able to book a same day pedi easy. However, waited 15 mins past my appt time to be bright back. Picked my color out and noticed when they opened it they added a liquid to it because it was funky. Though, oh well it happens. I noticed the color wasn't going bf on nice but didn't say anything because I figured they would fix it or whatever. After I was done and home I took a closer look I realized the polish was not smooth at all and didn't cover the nails. Frustrated I just took it off abs applied my own. Needless to say this was not worth $35! People were nice, but hair was all over the floor as well from cuts. read more

I'm very picky about gel manicures. They're pricer than regular polish so I expect the manicure to last a little bit longer. I was able to get 3 weeks out of my nails, which is awesome! The only downsides were the lack of a manicure and color selection. They have maybe 20-30 colors, which I've heard that complaint from multiple people. I like pastel colors and there only a hand full to choose from. The manicure itself was a bit off. My nails weren't completely filed down correctly so when they were painted, you could see and feel the sharp edges. I had to smooth them myself after I left so I wouldn't potentially scratch myself. For clarification, I'm not talking about the corners of my nail since I got the sqoval shape, I'm referring to the nail tip. My nails were covered in cuticle oil and I was sent on my way. No lotion or semi-massage. If I'm paying $35 for a gel manicure, I expect some type of lotion and massage. Especially if I'm going to pay $45 to have the old polish removed and reapplied. That being said, the nails were strong and lasted 3 weeks. I can appreciate that. read more
