Lately, every time the DallasStars score 3 points, you get a text notification to get a $5 Freebird-Sized Burrito+Reg Drink or Dessert. So, I encourage everyone to sign up for texts. I always take advantage of the offer. Tonight I ordered my burrito bowl after my core workout, and it was just what I needed to refuel. I love that they have cauliflower rice, a choice of beans (I always choose black beans), fajita veggies, steak, cheese, jalapeños, cilantro, sour cream. And you can get the first scoop of queso and guacamole for free. The bowls are always tasty and healthy. The service is good. My only criticism is they don't always replenish the ingredients in a timely manner. Every time I go, they are low on cauliflower rice. Tonight the steak and sautéed vegetables were almost gone. Walked in, there were three people working and only one person waiting on their food. They were out of white chicken, and told me I would have to wait for it. Not a problem ,they told me it would be 3 minutes, it took almost 10. I understand these things happen, but when they do generally, you try and do something for your customer. No discount no drink no chips just here's your burrito and out the door. On top of that, not only was I waiting, but they then decided to make up two online orders using the chicken before even making mine with the fresh chicken. If you're not going to be ready to serve your clientele, maybe consider doing something else for a living. Overall, very disappointing. I have been eating at Freebirds since 1995 in College Station, Texas. Well before they spread all the other cities, it's a sad shell and shadow of what it had been. Finally, the burritos used to be a good deal. They used to be a good size burrito that would make for a decent meal at a fair price. Those days are long gone. So I decided to go back to this Freebirds location to give it another chance after the absolute dumpster fire of an experience that I had the time before since I had a free Freebird burrito coupon from taking a survey. First of all, the free burrito coupon did not work in the app so unfortunately I had to go into the store to order where the store employee frequently adds erroneous up charges versus the app. Sure enough, I had the same exact experience from the same employee that I dealt with last time. I was told that management was going to train the employee on how to handle situations in the future. I ordered the frito pie burrito and the employee did not know how to make it. They were asking me what was in it and then I had to look at the app. I read off the ingredients and they built the burrito, only substitution I asked for was for brisket instead of ground beef from the protien. When the employee rang up my burrito they gave me an up-charge for the queso that was included in the ingredients and price point on the app and also for subbing out the protien. So needlesss to say I did not get the free burrito as I paid an additional $2 up charge which was very misleading. They charged me $15 and only took off $11 with the coupon. I ordered a bowl as well and at 7:45 pm I was told they were out of the corn salsa and the brisket for the night. They are open until 9:30. Pm. Once again same issue from my previous experience as not having ingredients on hand and unwilling to make more when they run out. Also when she rang me up. She up-charged me for the queso and brisket even though my burrito was supposed to be free. She told me I had to pay for the queso since I subbed out the protein however the coupon just said free burrito and did not mention anything about a limitation on the protien I could choose. Also again charged for queso in the bowl even though they were out of both brisket and corn salsa. This location continues to be a disappointment and I am done coming here. So unfortunately that I have a consistently bad experience. Paid $17 that was adjusted down from $19 for a free burrito and bowl. We've been to this Freebirds location more times than we can count, and the experience never disappoints! This last visit we stopped in to try their limited-edition Birria, and our burrito maker, Ada, was incredible. Even as things got busier, she stayed friendly, patient, and made sure every detail of our (admittedly large) order was perfect. In past visits, we've also had an awesome younger guy help us (wish we remembered his name cause he rocks!) who consistently delivers top-tier service and even went the extra mile to cook more cauliflower rice and prime rib on the spot when they were out -- talk about above and beyond! The setup inside is painted super cute and they do their best to keep it clean and clear tables as they can. Between the amazing staff we've encountered, fresh ingredients, and the new flavor-packed options that they release regularly this location keeps us coming back again and again. I walked over to Freebirds World Burrito from a nearby hotel after looking at the reviews on Yelp. The restaurant is nice and open with an industrial type feel. I found the menus overhead of the ordering line and found what I wanted. I ordered the monster vegan bowl. I was intrigued by the vegan chorizo and wanted to try it. I loaded up my bowl with veggies and topped it with habanero salsa. The employee that put together my bowl was helpful and made sure I got what I wanted.I also got some ancho sauce on the side as it looked interesting and I always like trying new sauces. Checkout was easy and I ordered my meal to go. However after I saw the sketchy seal of the lid on my bowl (really doesn't secure the bowl very well) I decided to dine in. The seating area inside was nice and clean so I grabbed some napkins and sat down. Most of the tables have their "death sauce" available on them as well. I tried a little and yep, it's pretty spicy. Good stuff. The bowl itself was very tasty. The ingredients were fresh and the veggies were crisp. I enjoyed the ancho sauce as well and would definitely get that again. It adds a nice depth of flavor to the bowl. The vegan chorizo was ok, not really flavorful as I was hoping for. More like a salty addition to the bowl without adding any real flavor. The service has slowly decline to the point the entire staff is having a meltdown on the line if five people are ready to order. Every time I visit Freebirds, I'm surprised by how much better their burritos are than Chipotle. Yes, I said it. I love me some tofu sofritas, but let's be honest, all the rest needs work. The Abbots Butcher plant-based chorizo here is fantastic for your plant protein needs, and all the toppings except for the obvious cheese and sour cream are dairy free. You even get a choice of tortillas, of which I highly recommend the spicy cayenne for a nice bright finish. Fast, fresh, flavorful, and reasonably affordable; what more could you ask for? read more

Frustrating experience today... after a too-busy day at work, decided to order ahead and pick up my first meal of the day. Online ordering was simple enough, submitted at 3:41PM. My estimated pickup time was at 3:52. Well, by the time I finished up the last bit of work, I probably didn't actually get there till around 4. When I walked in, the restaurant was totally empty, save for the two employees. I waited at the register for a minute for them to finish up their conversation and greet me, and at this point, anticipated that my order would be ready and cooling its jets, but when I gave my name, I was told that they were "just finishing up." So I moved to set my purse on a table, and stood there anticipating my burrito to be in my hands momentarily. But it turned out that they weren't "just finishing up." In fact, they hadn't started. I watched as they slowly made my order. It was evident that there was one FT employee and one trainee, but at no point did the employee take over, nor did either show any sense of urgency. Finally, at 4:16, a full 35 minutes after I'd placed the order, I received my food. I said something to the employee about it taking 35 minutes to make a burrito and a couple of tacos. His response? "Yeah sorry we were training." As someone who has previously worked as a trainer at multiple bars and restaurants, I can understand to a degree, but the time to teach is between orders, not while a customer waits 35 minutes for a fast casual burrito. I walked in and the young man behind the counter, immediately upon seeing me walked to the back, saying something to the cook on shift. The manager came out the back and was splendid with her service so it was not all bad. Then, a heavily armed security guard came in and profiled me. If I'm wrong, OK, however I was not comfortable with someone with a big gun starring at me as if I am a criminal or a potential criminal. i work in the same plaza as this bank and THIS LOCATION WILL TOWE YOUR CAR!!!! DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU ARE A WELLS FARGO CLIENT/CUSTOMER!!!!!! I have worked in the same plaza shared with Wells Fargo for 2 years and have spoken to WF employees who have given me a parking validation permit to park in the bank spots for the days i worked...fast forward to today I was threatened to never park in bank parking again bc I will be booted employee or not. The booters said it doesn't matter if i am an uber driver working and picking up food for someone else if i park in bank for a split second they will boot me. Or today a jeep parked at Bennu and headed towards Freebirds and was booted in a public parking spot. I had asked why and they said bc he parked Infront of another business and went to the a completely different business...??? as long as its not bank parking what's the issue? The clients i serviced today were majority Well Fargo card holders but were all booted no matter what was said to the manager. They said it was the Plaza's Property Manager but this occurred today after 2 years of me working here, This bank does not care for its community, its clients, let alone customer service. The booters also damaged the clients tired by popping them and when confronted the booters got aggressive threatening to "Beat my ass". Both young Hispanics with gold grillz bragging about how he wont pay for the tire they just popped. I also recorded the altercation for a solid 10 minutes and I do plan to post it. WF is int he back clear as day..... The booting company is called Capital City Parking Enforcement. They booted cars that were parked in the plaza and not labeled as Bank spots. They booted cars in public parking spots, in front of Bennu, The dentist, Free birds, IVitamin, and Enlighten Baby and wont allow you to leave unless you pay them $100. Free birds is not letting their clients know this, and Wells Fargo does not care to inform the businesses around them considering their employees also park Infront of our business too when the Austin marathon is here, or ACL or SWSW. A lot of physical altercations occurred today in front of WF, and Freebirds today. My clients had to call the police multiple times (311 and 911) and no one came. I'm not sure if this is their "flagship store" being on South Congress, but it certainly could be. The truth is that it's like any other Freebirds location where you get to create your own burrito. Freebirds has more toppings and options than any other burrito purveyor, so there's that. This one, though, is cleaner than most, much more organized, and has a drink area with the holy grail of condiments -- lemon packets for iced tea. Those things alone are praiseworthy. The service at this location is pretty efficient as well. If I had one criticism, it's the volume of online orders that seem to get filled before walk-in customers. But with it being within walking distance of my office, that's a small price to pay. read more

So let's get behind why I'm leaving 2 stars; My food was perfect, I didn't like that the "pico" was basically tomato. But that's the only thing. However all of the employees attitudes were TERRIBLE! They made me feel like I was unwanted and judged for being there. When we first got there a employee parked right in front of the store; which should be reserved for customers, and then she flung the door at me and my boyfriend. It happens; I just wish I was told before I even started my order just in case. Even during lunch and dinner time (weekdays), the place isn't super packed. Since there's plenty of seating indoors, you almost always shouldn't have an issue with finding a place to sit. Note that the bathroom requires a code, which you get from the staff.
