The girl who did the tests before the doctor took a picture of my eye that cost extra and wasn't covered by my insurance. I had opted out of it but she took it anyways. So the doctor discussed it with me and I was therefore charged the extra money. $30 isn't a whole lot in the long run, but if they're going to make it optional it needs to be actually optional. I had been to this location for years when it was Crosstown Eye Care. Upon calling to schedule my annual eye exam, I found that it had changed doctors but decided to give it a try anyway. I was positively impressed! The staff were courteous, the doctor was very prompt and personable. After years of going to eye doctors, he was the first to ever explain why wearing glasses (vs. contacts) was so hard for me. He was very reasonably priced compared to some other doctors as well, which, being self-pay, was very important to me. The entire appointment lasted less than 30 minutes, which with my busy schedule was greatly appreciated. I highly recommend this doctor! read more

I was quite impressed with my first visit to Freedom Eye Care! The entire staff is very personable and timely. The front desk lady was polite, she checked me in quickly and verified my paperwork. Myra did all the preliminary tests and explained each one thoroughly. Then Dr. Azadi greeted me with a hand shake and a warm smile. He went through some additional testing and an exam, then spent time explaining eye anatomy and eye health to make sure I understood what we were looking at and why. As a healthcare provider myself, I greatly appreciate a provider who takes the time to educate their patients. And Myra was amazing, she very patiently spent the time helping me choose a pair of new frames. She was honest and provided me with frame options that I would never have thought of. I wish I could put zero stars for this joke of a business. The staff is consistently confused and Dr. Azadi was not only condescending, but did not listen AT ALL to my preferences. I went to this place on a whim, without any recommendations. It's small and the location is easy enough to find. The doctor was rude about the glasses I came in with. That wasn't the best start. He said they were make carelessly and that I should replace them. They're absolutely fine, and I only wear them as a backup. I went to this place for contacts! Before he tried to steamroll me into looking at their selection of glasses, I mentioned that I made an appointment for contacts and that's all i'm interested in. So, we get to the contact portion of the appointment and he starts his schpeel... "I recommend dailies to every single one of my patients" That doesn't make me feel like he's working with patients on a one-on-one level or that he's looking out for his patients differing needs. Seems like all he's trying to do is push a more expensive brand on me. I said numerous times that I preferred Acuvue Oasys, and have worn them without issue for years. Despite my preferences, he sent me home in dailies. They were itchy and didn't sit well. When checking out, I ask for a written prescription so I could just order contacts online and not have to deal with these people any longer. Leti, the office manager, was resistant to give it to me and repeatedly mentioned that they could get me a lower price than 1800CONTACTS. I got the written prescription, but when I got home, I saw that they put the Dailies on the script and not the Oasys. This would be fine and well except that on the prescription it says "Fill Exactly as written, NO SUBSTITUTIONS". 1800CONTACTS would not allow me to get Oasys until the prescription was changed. SOO, I call to get it changed and Leti answers again. I explain the whole thing to her and she says that she'll email me the corrected prescription within the hour. About 4 hours later, I get a phone call from them trying to, again, remind me that they can get me a lower price. I'm told by Leti that I can pay $100 for a full year of Oasys contacts (this is after my insurance coverage) and that I'll be eligible for a $75 rebate. She says that it's all online and just a few clicks. So I order the contacts from them. When I get the package, there's nothing at all about a rebate enclosed. I have to call them again. Elray answers and says he'll get to the bottom of it. He emails me a generic link to apply for the rebate online. Remember what I was told about how easy this would be to do online? Turns out, I have to mail in the box tops of my contacts and I'm only eligible for $50 rebate, which comes in the form of a visa card. That's the first I heard about that little inconvenient stipulation. This is a week after my initial appointment. I call back, get a "phone number is disconnected" response for a good hour. I finally get through and Leti of course answers. She says that I'll have to mail in one rebate with box tops for $50 and then come by the office to get another rebate form for an additional $25. Had I known about all the stipulations and rules, I would have just saved myself time and grief and ordered on 1800CONTACTS. All in all, I would not recommend them to anyone. The doc seems more interested in pleasing his pocket book and less interested in the preferences and needs of his patients. The staff could use some serious customer service training. I'll be using yelp to help me select my next eye doctor instead of going somewhere on a whim! read more

Wow. This place is amazing. Dr. Azadi spent a lot of time with me, which I have never experienced before with an eye doctor. He explained everything and didn't seem rushed. So nice. When I mentioned that I don't use contacts much because they don't work as well as my glasses he said "let's see what we can do about that" and brought me a sampling of different brands of contacts and prescription strengths to try on. We went though them one at a time, testing until I found a combo that actually worked just as well as my glasses! Then I went to check out and they offered to adjust my glasses since they were loose. Free. While I waited I checked out their selection of glasses and they were really modern and cool. I haven't seen glasses like that in Austin and I have looked! As I'm aging, the health of my eyes is ultra important to me, and, moving forward, feel utter trust in his abilities to stay on top of any changes that might occur in the future. As an emergency physician, I understand the importance of maintaining good eye health and getting regular exams. When I first visited Freedom Eye Care a few years back, I was struggling with overwhelming eye-fatigue, especially while working in the ER. Come to find out, after Dr. Azadi performed a very thorough eye exam, he explained that my contact prescription was in fact, 'way off.' Dr. Azadi corrected my prescription and I've been able to see great for the past two years. I went back to see him yesterday, and after another very thorough exam, he tweaked my contact prescription just a bit more, and today my vision is crystal clear. Regardless, Dr. Azadi will generally have me wear my new contacts for a week just to make sure the prescription is right. If I have any problems or concerns, I know Dr. Azadi will address them. Nice staff. Efficient examination process. Great Doctor. I can't ask for more than that. read more

Really impressed with Dr. Azadi and his team. Not only is the staff friendly, accommodating, and responsive by phone and online, but Dr. Azadi takes the time to explain what's really going on with my vision. He is very approachable and doesn't rush through the appointment, openly sharing and explaining what certain scans/tests are for. He lets the patient be involved in the process and it helps to understand why he might recommend certain things (i.e. giving eyes a rest from contacts, changing brand, etc.). Would definitely recommend to a friend. If you're having vision concerns that you feel a regular optometrist might miss, Dr. Azadi is your guy, he considers how all aspects of your health may be impacting your vision. read more

At first, the experience was great. The staff was personable and I was in and out with my exam and glasses order. Then my frames were backordered and I wasn't informed until 2 days after I was promised the frames would be ready. Then I was told they wouldn't be ready until almost a month after I placed the order. All of this was blamed on my insurance and the lab they require to use. Which is fine, protocol, I get it. However, I feel as though I should have been informed of the backorder far sooner than I was. Then, the glasses were set to be ready but didn't quite make the shipment. Then I hear they didn't even pass final inspection in the lab and the entire process had to restarted! At this point I was willing to wait however I wanted a refund on the glasses for my time. It's been weeks at this point. Freedom Eye Care chose not to compensate me for the glasses and basically said cancel or wait. As a professional establishment, if so many things go wrong, you cover the tab! Freedom Eye Care should have stepped up paid for all the errors that the office made and not just leave me high and dry with no glasses and a bill and month waiting time. This office was great! First off, they accepted my VSP and 15 other offices before I called them did not. Day of my appointment I showed up almost an hour early and they worked me in- during the last week of December, mind you which is the busiest week because people are trying to use benefits before they expire.. While I was waiting I started looking at glasses and actually stopped one of the gals to help me so I had already narrowed it down to two pair before I even saw the doctor. I have been to eye doctors before and they CRAM every test down your throat, your $5 or $10 co-pay turns into a $100 before you know it. It wasn't like that at all here. The staff was not pushy about the "extras". The doctor was extremely pleasant and personable. After the visit I selected a pair of glasses and again, did not feel pushed to purchase the more expensive designer frames. I think they were even ready a day before anticipated. All in all, very positive experience and I have already referred others. read more

I read through several reviews before coming here and was really interested when I saw several people saying really good things. I usually do my research when I shop around for new specs and sometimes it can be a real hassle. Plus, I was really trying to find something local and haven't had too much luck cause 1. laziness ensues and 2. Austin traffic is a killer. Well suffice it to say that I'm really happy I went to this place because everyone was really nice and super helpful! I found some great looking specs but they were unfortunately on back order (not their fault and whatever, I'm patient) so I ordered them anyway. It took about 4 or 5 days to actually get them which was not bad at all considering that I had looked everywhere for them and no one else had them. I just saw a review talking about the messy-ness of the office and I don't quite agree with it. I mean I went in there and it even smelled nice. Everything seemed orderly ya know? As it should, but everyone is entitled to their opinion, this is just mine. Didn't have any problems with my insurance either or have any weird lab results. Just straight up service the whole way. I loved that they gave me notification of when my specs came in so that I could arrange my busy schedule to go in and get them. All in all, good feels, good-straight-up service, and very professional. I'll probably come here again to get a check up soon. read more

I can't imagine anyone giving Dr. Azadi or the staff anything but a five star review. I would give more if it were possible. Dr. Azadi, in our experience, absolutely does not try and push anything. As a matter of fact, he told us it was not really time to get glasses as my husband's prescription would be changing soon due to outside circumstances but he would be happy to do so if we wanted. He also was extremely accommodating in writing a prescription so we could order the cheapest glasses available over the internet since he knew my husband's vision would continue to change over the next 12 months. As it turns out, Leti was so very nice and so very informative that we decided to purchase our glasses there because it would, in the long run, be less expensive. She too did not try to push anything on us but just offered us a better financial option which I would not have even known about if she had not been so professional. Additionally, Dr. Azadi explained the make-up of the eye and the surgery which had been performed on my husband by another doctor FAR better than the doctor who did the surgery. He also convinced us to wait for an additional surgery and explained it all so clearly that we not only understood but agreed totally. Lastly, he PERSONALLY called us TWICE - once to check on my husband's condition after diagnosing him with a retinal tear and referring him to a retina surgeon and once to explain something more fully to me. When's the last time a doctor called you? When's the last time a doctor's office staff was helpful? To me, all this is a five star. I am referring him to everyone. read more

First time we used this eye clinic so I was looking to see if this is where we wanted to call this "home" for our eye care. I was pleasantly surprised (and surprised was the word when I found out why I was told to use eye drops or lubricant for the rest of my life). It was never explained to me before by previous eye doctors but I guess my eyes don't FULLY shut at night when I sleep! So, I would have to put in eye drops as my eyes were always so dry. The Dr. filled me in on that bit of information and now, I understand. The other eye doctors did not do what he did in performing in depth exams (eyelashes and all) to fully understand and let us know about our eyes. It was VERY informative. I we loved the fact that we could get "photos" done of our eyes instead of dilating them. (I don't think that EVERYONE can get that done, but from what I understand, most can). It was cool to actually see your own eyeball on a screen in front of you and compared to unhealthy ones so you could see the difference. Pretty neat and very informative AND, no nonsense, straight forward and his staff is very helpful. We have found our "home" eye clinic, thank you! read more

I want to say Dr. Azadi and his team are THE BEST out there! He knows not only everything about traditional optometry, but also knows a great deal about treating certain eye conditions with supplements, etc. My husband was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration, and Dr Azadi recommended a list of vitamin/mineral supplements that stopped the progression of this disease completely, and saved my husband's eyesight. Also, he has always given us the best service on eyeglasses and contacts. They are reasonably priced, always recommend what is best for us, and take most insurance. As far as contacts, he has always recommended monthly and bi-monthly contacts for my sons. I think it depends on what your eye problems are and what will work best for you. He knows his stuff, and when we moved, we were still willing to drive over an hour back to his office for our vision needs. Thank you, Freedom Eyecare! read more
