FRAUD AND A FAKE!!! Let me explain why... I had a car accident last year and found Stan Freeman and his firm based off the reviews I found online, specifically on Yelp. I'll make it short. Stan was very accomodating in the beginning. He gave me good advice on obtaining evidence from the accident. I appreciated that wholeheartedly. Here is when things started taking a very different turn. He sent me to a mechanic he works with, Faez with Topanga Auto Body, to have a look at the damage to my car and obtain an estimate. My car was in very bad shape. A definite total loss. Faez the mechanic upon first look mentioned how bad the car looked and asked if I was okay from first glance of the damages. He proceeded to tell me that the car could catch on fire at any moment if I had continued driving it. Anyhow, the mechanic said that from his experience that it would be a long shot that the insurance company would deem it a total loss. Later the mechanic said that he would "do me a favor" and buy my car off me as is and give me a little more so that I could pay off my car loan. I was notified by Stan's assistant, Vangie, that the insurance company said that yes they will not deem it a total loss and I had no choice but to accept a check to get my car fixed. I had so many questions for Vangie asking for clarification on how they come up with such a dollar amount and decision etc. She kept on giving me very vague responses and almost seemed annoyed that I kept pressing for answers. Instead she kept pressing me to sign the release from the insurance company to get the check cut. All of a sudden there was a rush to get my signature on this form. I felt very uneasy about all of this. None of this sounded right and I felt I was given the run around by Stan's office. That I was getting short changed and that things weren't in my best interests. Having said that, I was referred over to this other attorney by a dear friend. I had told them all the details and they also agreed that something wasn't right. I was relieved that I wasn't the only one. I retained this attorney and they at once obtained my file from my previous attorney. It was revealed that the insurance company was in fact deeming my car a total loss!!!! I was bold faced being lied to by my own attorney and the body shop. I was so close to signing something accepting much much less than what my car was actually worth pre-accident. I'm talking like $5,000 to $6,000. I was right to go with my gut and I am so glad I had made the switch when I did otherwise I'd be out that much. Especially since I was in a bind financially at the time. I believe that Stan and Faez the auto body guy have an agreement setup between themselves to shaft unsuspecting people out of their own money for their benefit. Very, very shady business practices and definitely unethical for an attorney who is supposed to be representing others. Instead they are looking for a payday off of those who had just been through a very traumatic experience like that of a car accident and who do not have the slightest idea on how things like this work. Shame on them for taking advantage of other people's misfortune like this. I could only imagine how many others this has actually happened to. DO NOT LET ALL THE FIVE STAR REVIEWS FOOL YOU!!! they were true salesman, very nice and reassuring in the beginning, very nonchalant about what the process actually will be, and then right at the very end complete switch. rose i believe she is stan's assistant, slowly began treating me like an annoying telemarketer and didn't want to answer questions. she was happy to make demands about my treatment and last minute demands on what i need to do, where to go etc. best of all, (sarcasm) she tried and failed to manipulate me into doing treatment i medically did not need. she even lied and tried to assert that i would end up settling for next to nothing if i did not comply (was not the case after all, what'd yknow) it ended so incredibly distastefully. i can't recommend them. attorneys are always going to be fairly apathetic but they should feel at the bare minimum on your side. not against you. read more
