I have never had such a frustrating experience with an insurance company. I called Freeway Insurance simply to change my deductible because my auto loan company notified me that my coverage was considered deficient and I was at risk of being force-placed into an additional $255 insurance policy. What should have been a simple request turned into a nightmare. I was hung up on SIX different times while trying to get assistance. When I originally called to update my policy after trading in my car, I was told I had to cancel my existing policy and start an entirely new one. This resulted in me having to pay an additional $750 just to keep coverage in place, on top of my regular payment that was due only two weeks later. The process and costs were never clearly explained. To make matters worse, I received notices in the mail stating that my policy was missing required vehicle photos. However, when I contacted customer service, they could clearly see that the photos had already been submitted and simply uploaded them to my policy themselves. So why was I being threatened with issues over documents they already had? The lack of communication, repeated disconnections, conflicting information, and overall disorganization caused unnecessary stress and wasted hours of my time. Insurance is supposed to provide peace of mind. Instead, dealing with Freeway Insurance has been one of the most aggravating customer service experiences I've ever had. I've delt with Freeway insurance for a few years on and off, every time ive had a hassle or got screwed somehow. I ended up at the Arden location office and met Joseph. I told him the issues ive had and was currently dealing with, using Freeway insurance, and he was so quick to help get me situated with new insurance, made sure i had access to my roadside assistance, it may seem like little things that don't matter, but to me, it does matter. My driving record is horrible so unfortunately Freeway is the only insurance i am actually able to afford. Therefore, i was grateful for Josephs help, he gave me his personal cell phone number, allowing me to contact him with ANY TIME i needed him for anything about my policy, that, i am super grateful. I have to renew my policy soon, and have to go thru freeway insurance again, i will most definitely be going in office to visit Joseph for my insurance reup. :) read more

Oh gosh where do I start... if it wasn't for Freeways corporate number reimbursing me I was seriously going to report this place to not only the BBB but also the Department of Insurance. I had a broker by the name of ERICA straight up lie to me regarding the fees I paid. They will tell you that what you are paying will be put towards your premium but in actuality it's for their broker fees. According to these reviews this is obviously something they practice often. Was told the "down payment" was for the first and last month's coverage in case there is ever a lapse, I would be covered. False. Down payment is just for them to pocket. On top of that I received my first monthly statement due on Sept 17. Paid it. And today I'm looking at ANOTHER statement due on Oct. 6th. Wtf. When I go in, I'm then told they don't do refunds in person. After filing a complaint and continuously calling them since no one would call me back, I was only refunded a third of what I put down. BEWARE, THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM! Somehow, they are able to legally get away with lying and manipulating their customers into buying the worst possible insurance with a hefty "down payment" that is actually a broker fee. They will lie to you and say that the down payment will cover your first and last month of insurance, when in reality it is going straight into their own pockets. You will never see that money again. They will also set you up with the bare minimum of coverage on your vehicle. They covered me for only $10,000 of property damage to another car - meaning that if I somehow totalled a $50,000 car and I was at fault, I would be liable for the other $40,000.... Out of my own pocket! And they never once explained these coverages to me. They never told me they were brokers. They never told me that the down payment was a broker fee. THEY JUST STRAIGHT UP LIE TO YOUR FACE. And make you feel like you're getting a special deal. Do not fall for their manipulation. read more

Went In to remove a vehicle and add a new car to my existing policy. I normally pay 112 for full coverage on two vehicles. The man who helped me said if I stay with my current insurance company it would be $233 a month! Or I could go with another company and it'll be $190 for two cars but I'd have to pay him $400something for the brokerage fee!!! What? No way.... So I went to cost-u-less in elkgrove by the Wal-Mart.. I gave him the same info as freeway. He got my car added onto my policy for $40 and my monthly premium is actually less than it originally was. Only $90 a month. Freeway insurance padded my quote so that signing with another policy would sound more appealing monthly but would allow for a outrageous broker free. They are scammers and I will warn anyone seeking insurance. read more

Had an awful experience, not with this location, but with their customer service department in southern California. After noticing on my credit card that I had been charged TWO down payments, I called. The rep said that all down payments are final & that there was no way to reverse them, despite the fact that I had not signed up twice. I asked to speak to his manager, understanding that there was probably nothing that he could do. He was very, very nice & I was patient with him. He said a manager was not available & could she call me back? Sure, I replied. I waited. That day--no call. The next day--no call. I called them the FOLLOWING day & again spoke with the same rep. He said he was so sorry & he would have the manager call me back that day. I waited. NO CALL. The following day, I called AGAIN. The same rep, Steven, said that he was surprised the manager hadn't called me back. He forwarded me to his manager's supervisor's phone line. She didn't pick up! I left a message. I waited again. She didn't call me back that day. I waited ANOTHER DAY. She did not call me back. The following day--I called Steven. He placed me on hold for 22 minutes. I hung up & called their "rate our customer service line." Another rep answered & I explained the run-around I had been getting. She got on the phone & fixed it. It took an hour, sure. We had to three-way call her manager & then three-way call the insurance company I am covered under (Freeway is just the broker), but it got fixed. I was finally refunded my money--after I threatened to file a complaint with the Insurance Bureau--all $570 of it. read more
