The gentleman to came was inconspicuous, very friendly and respectful, taking care to make sure she was handled gently and reverently. Grace was wonderful and always ready to help with anything I might need. All of the staff I worked with, including the wonderful receptionist, were kind and treated me like family. The urn was beautiful and well-made. They have also called me periodically to check on me handling my grief. I love these folks!

She arrived at 2:02 pm and the person running the seminar turned up her nose at my mom and rudely told her, "We don't accept late arrivals! You're late!" loud enough for the entire restaurant to hear, therefore embarrasing my mother and her friend. Also to note, my mother and her friend were the only Black women at the seminar and probably at the restaurant, period. The woman was so rude that even the restaurant staff had to apologize to my mom and her friend. I'd venture a bet to say that if my mom and her friend were two White -- or even Hispanic -- ladies, that woman's demeanor would have been a lot different.

Unfortunately, my father who was one of the best men in the world passed away a few weeks ago. I am…read moresure I have been emotional and stressed out while planning his funeral as any grieving daughter would be. We have had a great experience with French Funeral and Crematorium during this experience and an awful experience with Sandia Memory Gardens. I was trying to plan my father's burial for a Saturday and from the get go, they did not seem happy about a Saturday interment from the moment I called. We had a pre-bought family plot at Sandia Memory Garden, but never knew they are actually Daniels Funeral Home. They seemed not too happy to be working with us, since my father had prearranged a funeral service with French's. The first person I talked to (I'm assuming the office assistant) said they may be able to bury him on a Saturday, but the price would be an extra $1,800 for a Saturday. Next I spoke with Joanne who has been the nicest person there. She told me it would be an extra $2,000 to bury him on a Saturday. I told her that I would have to talk to my mom about it, but that it seemed like a very expensive weekend burial fee. I'm sure I was snappy, because I wanted to know why it was so expensive. My mom agreed to spend the extra money, so we proceeded and Joanne said that Dana would be reaching out. The first interaction I had with Dana was a voicemail that she left me while I was at work. She told me on a voicemail that we would owe them over $4,000 and didn't even offer condolences on this voicemail. I hadn't even spoken with her for her to know what we wanted done and what we had already purchased through French's. My heart was broken at the loss of my father, and now I was upset that it seemed all they cared about was money. When my family went in to meet with Dana to sign contracts and pay them, Dana offered a quick condolence and got right to how much money we owed her. We also had to give up the "vault" that my father had purchased with French's because Sandia Memory Gardens was going to charge us $500 extra to use French's vault. Dana insisted that we meet with her between 11:30am and 2:30pm the Monday before the funeral to mark the grave. I told her that I wouldn't be able to meet with her because I had to work, and in front of my family she sarcastically said, "Then we won't be able to lay your father to rest." We were all shocked. Dana acted as if we were a bother to her. After this interaction with my sister crying I asked to speak with her manager. Brian (the manager) called me and patiently listened to our experience at first. Then after speaking with his staff he called me back and said, "I spoke with all of my staff that you talked to and in EVERYONE'S best interest, I will be meeting with you." This made me feel as if I were the one that caused the issues...and perhaps I was. However, I am the grieving daughter just trying to do right by her father and family. I am the one burying my father. I would hope that a funeral home and cemetery would have much more empathy and definitely not leave a voicemail asking for money without knowing much about what we wanted. So unprofessional and unempathetic. I will give Sandia Memory Gardens two stars instead of one simply because Brian called and heard me out. After speaking with his staff, there was no apology given to my family about the way we were treated or talked to. We will move forward and bury my father there because we have to. However, I worry that all I will feel is anger in the years to come as I visit my father's grave. It's so awful to have to deal with your hero dying to begin with. Then you're charged a ridiculous amount to bury on a Saturday (twice what the cost is to begin with without any explanation), and also to have to deal with not feeling valued as a customer. Not only not valued... but we felt like a huge bother to them. Depending on who you are dealing with a Sandia Memory Gardens, don't expect there to be much empathy when dealing with the loss of your family member. Definitely don't ask questions about why the extra fee is so high for a weekend. D

DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS!!!!…read more If I could give no stars, I definitely would. Where to start? The poor customer service? The extremely rude staff? The poor care of our animal? I paid for a service for our animal. We go when we were told the remains would be ready for pick up and what do I get? The wrong animal! The gave me another families beloved pet! They don't double check the paperwork and handed over another families pet, which I immediately returned. I called to let them know and the girl who answered blamed me! How is the company's mistake mine? I have no clue. To top it off - she then scoffs at me on the phone. Fast forward to racing back there to return the other pet. I get there and she doesn't show any remorse or care and some random male runs into the lobby area and starts yelling at me to lower my voice. I'm upset and rightfully so. I was given the wrong animal. I try to explain why I'm upset to this random male who doesn't even care and then has the audacity to tell me he was listening to the call the whole time and defended the female worker. No apologies or remorse. Enter male #3 - this guy was half way decent and apologized so kudos to him. Needless to say, this place is a joke and I wouldn't waste a penny here again. I'd highly recommend others not go here. I honestly don't even know if this is still my pet that was given to me based on the circumstances.
