I got the fried chicken sandwich on Friday as it was recommended by my neighbor. The hype was real! The chicken was double the size of the bun and every bite delicious! The fries were incredible too. I got some cookies to bring back to the family (the lunch was a solo mission) and they were huge and delicious as well and kept for a couple days as we tried to make them last. Really loved my meal here. The tartine is substantial, I was expecting a smaller serving and this was huge and delicious. They also sell French tea and coffee here which was a nice bonus. Every pastry was good as well. I had ordered a cookie and the cinnamon roll. They have craft beer on draft and the tables were full but they have a place to be outside. Amazing coffee, I ordered a latte with oat milk that went down so easy - great flavor, great quality - best latte I have had in a long while. I have food allergies and usually don't go anywhere near baked goods but the baker carefully went through each item with me and I discovered a scone and cookies that were gluten and corn free that I could eat. Stopped by on a Wednesday to grab some lunch. There were a couple guests already seated, but there was no line. The pastries are quite large (especially the croissants), so if you're trying to get the most bang for your buck, I'd try one of those. My friends all ordered quiches, and though they were good, it took a good 5-10 minutes for them to come out, and they were maybe five inches in diameter. I personally ordered a salad (I was suckered in by the goat cheese). The salad seemed fresh. The presentation and prep behind it felt a bit underwhelming, though it was also nice that they kept it simple. Overall, the food was decent, and it wasn't too crowded, so I might go back, especially if I have a casual meeting and want to head out a bit from our own town. read more

This is the worst bakery in the entire Massachusetts . I've been there once and I told myself I will never go back to this place again. All the desserts are so sweet, you can barely move your tongue! Just now my husband came home and brought me a strawberry cheesecake, I had one bite and had to throw everything away and was about to throw up. I mean literally. Then I've noticed that the cheesecake was from the same bakery "French press". I don't know what you are aimed at, but I guess your only aim is to destroy and make the entire nation diabetics. Lovely place, spacious and clean - and though my sandwich didn't look all that large it was filling and delicious. Some of the best chicken salad I've had in a long long time and on a wonderful French bread that may have been made in house. I've been here a few times and its a cute coffee shop, with good coffee and food options. My go to is the chai latte and it's one of the better ones in the area. There's sufficient seating and it has a nice design. My only issue is that it's a hit or miss with ambiance. The acoustics are pretty bad (bare cement floor, tall ceilings) so if you get a loud talker in there, it's distracting. The sounds of making the drinks, grinding the coffee, etc, from behind the counter also add to the very loud, distracting ambiance. If you're planning to meet someone here to chat, just know that you're going to need to sit close to each other and at some point will probably need to yell. And if you are coming here to do work, don't forget your headphones! read more

Everything is tasty and lovely, the staff is always upbeat and the sunny tables make for a great chat or study session, even though it is small inside. If you're lucky enough to be there when someone hasn't brought in a stroller with toddlers you'll be even happier as it is a bit crowded. Just this morning, I was making fun of people who leave Yelp reviews, and now here I am, on my lunch break, leaving a Yelp review. But alas... I'm not entirely sure why, but I work in Needham, just down the street from the French Press. I've been frequenting this café for over two years now. It's true that the prices are high, but it's also true that the prices are only high for anywhere that isn't Needham; even the cost of a meal from the generically named Chinese takeout place up the street could get you like half a filet at another town's Capitol Grille. Anyway, the atmosphere is fine, albeit full of peculiar humans that do peculiar things like peel bananas with a butter knife, which I saw this morning and I haven't stopped thinking about since. Where this place really shines is the service, the food, and the coffee, which, if you're going to a café, really should be your first concern anyway rather than the amount of outlets or the awful sound the chairs make when someone gets up or sits down. Every baked good I've had from there has been delicious, and the food is even better, particularly the tartines. The coffee, too, is about as good as it gets in this town, and they have some pretty cool tea options. Okay, that's all before my lunch gets cold. read more

I was so disappointed for this place being so disappointing. This place is a cute cafe, however, the lack of outlets was a huge turn off and turned me away from staying. Another huge disappointment was the steep price of the drinks. The quality and taste of the coffees weren't terrible, but definitely will not be coming back. I can't justify paying $11 for 2 drinks and not having access to any outlets. I only saw one outlet. Again, price was also shocking, especially for a place out in the quiet crowdless suburbs. You'd expect prices like this in Boston.. **Also, paper straws. Kudos for them trying to be more sustainable, but in less than 10 minutes, I couldn't drink my coffee because my straw became completely soggy and the lid hole punctured a hole for both my drink and my boyfriend's. Please find sturdier sustainable straws for customers to enjoy their $7 iced latte. read more

Literally love this place. Never thought I would find something this sophisticated in Needham, but really glad I did. Jay(sp?, and owner) and I had a great coffee chat the first day and that certainly kept me coming back the next two. Jay told me they get fresh coffee roasted and delivered from a place in Brooklyn every week. Pastries and sandwiches are made on site and it shows with every bite. Ordered the quiche Lorraine twice, had a bunch of macaroons (which were a little too sweet), a ham/Swiss sandwich, and plenty of coffee. This is definitely on my place to come back to when I'm in the area. Free wi-fi and plenty of people coming in to work makes it a nice place to get things done while enjoying an excellent cup. read more

The chai latte is overly sweet and tastes like it comes from a box, I would skip it and get their nice teabags instead. I would not come here intending to hang out or get work done as there is very little seating and it can get quite loud. It came with a side salad with a great vinaigrette dressing (I put the salad on my sandwich). Amazing bread rounded out a perfect sandwich. Also ordered the croque tartine which was also delicious. Added a fried egg which stayed perfectly runny until I got home. The iced coffee was refreshing and you can taste the quality of coffee they use.
