I've driven past this spot countless times, it's been on the list and finally, we had the opportunity to check it out. This is your friendly neighborhood pub, that everyone should have in their lives. It is lively, the menu is varied and the taps are flowing. We tried the pretzel bites, sampled the beer, a cocktail, some burgers and the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich (it is hot). The service was great, the vibe is what you'd expect and the food is perfectly cooked. We definitely should have started coming here long ago, and now it is time to make up for lost time. Very cute ambience, it feels like an English restaurant, especially in the front section by the bar. Drinks were strong and tasted good. We started with the Big Ol Potato from Specials menu, and the Mexican street corn style deviled eggs from the regular menu ('For The Table' section). The potato was amazing! The sausage, peppers & onions stuffed into the potato had really great flavor. The deviled eggs were fine (really standard, there was nothing very 'Mexican Street Corn' about them) - but they had the thickest amount of filling I've ever seen, it was tough to fit into your mouth and have room to chew, even after cutting a piece in half. The Irish Burger was cooked more on the well-done side than medium like we ordered, but the overall flavor was good. Harvest Salad from the specials menu was nice overall - the portion of grilled chicken slices was a bit small, but the flavor of the sweet potatoes, pear slices and goat cheese crumbles were nice touches. read more

I've been coming here for drinks for quite some time, but I haven't had their food in a while. Went last night with a group of friends to watch the Spurs game, and we only waited around 15 minutes for a table. The margaritas were delicious as always, and we enjoyed all of the appetizers we got. The reuben fritters were our favorite! The pretzel bites and pierogis were tasty, too. For meals, we ordered two burgers and fries, and were sadly disappointed by both of them. The bottom buns were soaked with grease, they were both cooked pretty rare when we had ordered medium, and the patties were very thick. Stopped here just as they opened and I was immediately seated and my waitress came along and she was very friendly. I ended up ordering a Darby Classic burger with cheese,lettuce and tomatoes cooked medium well. The burger was good and the fries were salted properly and crispy. My only complaint is they seem to hide their beer list they give you a menu with the cocktails and adult coffee but I had to ask about their beer selection. A pub especially one trying to be a soccer pub should have a ample beer selection and scream it loud and proud. read more

I ordered a Darby Cheeseburger with Fries Tomato and onion. When it came to the table I noticed they plated the end of the tomato, the Fries were from the bottom because they were very small, the burger was well done (I ordered Med) and the top of the bun was as hard as a rock. Clearly someone in the kitchen was playing a game. This was by far the worst experience I ever had at the restaurant. The manager offered to replace it but the excitement and and anticipation of a good burger was ruined. It'll be a while before I return. read more

Started off with the Gaelic nachos, the potato chips were fried nice and crispy and then topped with cheese, queso, bacon, pico de gallo, sour cream, jalapeños and olives. It was like Mexican nachos meets potato skins, 10 out of 10 and perfect for sharing. I had the French dip melt for lunch, it was delicious! My son had the Irish burger, he loved it, only thing I wish there was a burger with American bacon on the menu. Service was excellent, waitress was very friendly and nice and the vibes were on point. The three of us all agreed we enjoyed our food and will return to try more menu items in the future. The service was efficient. We had no complaints. This is a very lively atmosphere for the area and you could feel the energy in the room. I had the crispy ranch chicken sandwich special and my friends had the Caesar salad with salmon and shepherds pie. Everything was good. Parking is free in Scotch Plains and is also available on the street and in the municipal lot next to the restaurant. This bar / restaurant is hands down one of the best in the state. The food is very good, from a basic Cheeseburger to the delicious fish and chips or the traditional Sheppards pie, no matter what time of year you go. First time here, our server was Jade, she was great checked in often to see if you needed anything. My husband started off with the wild boar sausage appetizer. He said it was delicious, as I didn't taste any I'll take his word for it. For our dinners, he had a cheesesteak and I had the regular cheeseburger with cheddar cheese, sautéed onions with lettuce, and tomato... This cheesesteak was the least of the favorites that he's had that's why we're docking the star. Why would you serve a cheesesteak on a what I think was a brioche bun? I have no idea. My husband who is a pastry chef said that's what he believes it was. He said it was hard to chew and not what a cheesesteak should be served on. My burger however was delicious! One of my favorites cooked to a perfect medium rare and so flavorful and juicy. The burger was huge so I didn't want to eat my fries just so I could leave room to try and finish my burger but the fries were fresh and crispy too... Darby Road is a small Irish pub in the downtown block of Scotch Plains. Conveniently located right next to the municipal lot (with more parking across and on the street), while you may wait for a table you shouldn't have to battle for parking. I've been here twice in the last two weeks, both for lunch and dinner, and each time the food was great. First I tried a burger and fries, which were cooked perfectly and delivered great flavor. They also came out hot even though we were in a party of 10+, not an easy feat! For my second meal, I tried the shepard's pie. It comes in a decent sized bowl - definitely filling for lunch, but maybe a bit small for dinner. The flavor was good, but had a few crunchy veggies at points - its not something I minded, but could be off-putting for those who like their pie to effectively be the same consistency. Last thing to mention, which is important for those Millenials (or millennial apologists) who missed out on the "When We Were Young" festival, is that the music is fantastic. All kinds of 90s and 2000s indie / alternative rock, giving me all the more reason to come back for more! read more

Stopped in the other night after attending a viewing for a friend just down the street. It was a Friday night and the place was packed! After a 30 minute wait we were seated in the dining room. We tried the BANG BANG Cauliflower and found it to be tasty (from my standpoint it was a little bland) but the portion was extremely small. My wife enjoyed her Darby Classic Burger and took half home. I thoroughly enjoyed - and finished my Cheese Steak while Bill ordered the Prosciutto Flatbread Pizza. The pizza came on a metal tray (on parchment paper?) and was quite difficult to cut. This pizza should really be served on a cutting board of some kind. Overall a good experience and our server, N'ailah, was pleasant and attentive. This looks like a great spot - and the Whiskey Bar looked very interesting - great space for a private party. read more

And she kept checking in on us regularly. The food is very good. My recommendation is the Buffalo wings which are very plump, meaty and so fresh. Just the right amount of heat.. Service is quick too.
