We came here because my husband wanted Mexican food for his birthday. We ended up spending $90 for 3 dishes and an appetizer. It certainly wasn't worth it. The plastic water cups looked foggy and old. Everything here just seemed old and dirty. We started with the Dip Trio because the salsa that came with the chips was very spicy. The Dip trio included Pico de Gallo (didn't look fresh), queso, and Guacamole. I ordered a Grilled Chicken burrito with Yuca Fries. The Grilled Chicken burrito barely had chicken and instead had a load of spicy chorizo (ground meat). It should've been called a chorizo burrito with chicken. The Yuca fries were like bricks (probably frozen). Our server was very nice which is why I gave this review 2 stars. read more

Had always seen this place driving to and from work and never thought to go in. However, I was in the area and wanted to try it out as I was starving. As soon as I walked in, I was seated and taken to a booth. Once I sat down I was handed a menu and was trying to figure out what I wanted. I was given water but the water tasted odd as if their filter needs to be changed. The seating was comfortable and there were plenty of places to sit. The ambiance was rather dark inside the restaurant. I ended up deciding on flautas and chose Mexican rice as my side. I didn't wait long for my food but the plating was very sloppy. A lot of cheese and just overall super unappetizing looking. However, I was starving so I made with what I had. The flautas were super oily and soggy so it was extremely hard to eat them without them failing apart. The rice was also watery as well and tasted mostly of tomato juice with how much watery they were. Service was alright, just very mediocre and grabbing plates when we weren't fully finished. Needed a meet-up spot for a dinner and we all wanted Mexican. Picked this spot due to convenience and reviews. The good: easy access spot that's not too far from 400, great margaritas, decent atmosphere inside The bad: no outdoor seating and slow service with our drink order I did the tacos gringos with chicken, and they were wonderful! Big, tasty and enough for one person. Loved the poblano coleslaw as well! The house margarita pitcher was an exceptional. It packed a punch and the mix was perfect! Overall, great spot for drinks and Mexican! Hopefully faster service on pitcher next time (bumped a star down bc the table behind us got their pitcher 10 minutes before us and we had ordered the pitcher before they even came in the door). This was our first visit. The servers were friendly. We ordered to go. Order, Enchiladas with shredded chicken and a Taco Salad with shredded chicken. Both orders were made with just meat snd cheese. The taco salad had shredded pork. Didn't order that.The salad was lacking lettuce, tomatoes. The enchiladas did not have any onion, pico or salad. Avocados would have been nice, but I did'nt see that on the menu. Disappointed. The ratings online were high, but maybe this was just our experience. Probably wont return. read more

Visited Fresco Cantina for the first time last night. and decided that we will be back. Place seemed clean, was bright and airy, had an outdoor patio. We were greeted promptly by friendly staff. Not crowded, even at 7PM on a Friday night. During our dinner the manager came by our table twice to make sure all was well. My husband had a beef burrito and I had a taco salad. Both were very good. The service was excellent. I ordered the Vallarta bowl to go. I'm enjoying as I write this review. It's the best Mexican food I've ever tasted. Chicken, rice, black beans, fresh avocado slices, sweet roasted corn in a light crispy flour bowl. It was very flavorful and a perfect protein fix. I will be a regular customer. They offer lunch specials during the week that I'm anxious to try. This food is sinfully good. Excuse me, I'm a foodie and tend to be a little dramatic when I find food this good. I ordered the fish tacos and expected them to be flavorful, but they really weren't, pretty bland and disappointing. I chose grilled zucchini instead of the usual rice and beans, but the zucchini had a sour taste that didn't seem right. The food overall didn't feel very authentic for a Mexican restaurant. Didn't think to take pictures as the food looked underwhelming. Service could use improvement too. One plate was cleared while the other person was still eating, and our water glasses were never refilled. The best part of the meal was definitely the salsa. What I liked: We were greeted promptly and pleasantly. Service staff was friendly and generally accommodating. The standout entrée was the Burrito Vegetariano. The dish was enhanced further by a side of black beans. I would order this item again. What I didn't like: The background music selection was obnoxious and tasteless. It is completely inappropriate for dining. Traditional Mexican music should be played and at a suitable volume level. Bring air plugs for a more pleasant restaurant experience. The inside temperature was a bit too cold. The tap water requires better filtration. The chips and salsa were standard fare. Nothing impressive about either. So many Mexican restaurants skimp on the quality of their chips and salsa, but it should be a primary way of differentiating a superior restaurant from its inferior competitors. Similarly, good bread is a staple item at any good Italian restaurant. Although the taste, texture and quality of the grilled chicken on the Nachos Supremo was detectably far better than most Mexican restaurants, there just was enough chicken. The dish was 85% refried beans and only a smattering of chicken. The cheese sauce was horribly watery and bland. Service was good throughout most of the meal but tended to fizzle out towards the end. The beer price on the menu did not match the price we were charged on the bill. Bottom line: Too many cost-cutting measures in place, adversely effecting food value and quality. With only one impressive food item, there just isn't enough of a reason to return. read more

I remember having gone to Fresco Cantina Grille some time ago before I moved to the area but that first impression was not a good one because I had not wanted to revisit after moving, though I could not recall exactly why. After living in the area for several months now, I happened to be nearby last night and was looking to grab a quick bite with hubby after an eye doctor appointment. We saw Fresco Cantina Grille and decided to give it another go. Upon reviewing the menu once inside, I remembered what had turned me off so much during that first visit. It was their avocado rolls. I remember being happily surprised to see avocado rolls on the menu and ordering them without reading the description because I just assumed they were normal avocado rolls and then being highly disappointed when we received them and realized that they had added shrimp. I had never heard of shrimp or any kind of seafood in avocado rolls and since neither of us like seafood, that turned my happy surprise into a not-so-happy one. But now armed with this memory, I knew better than to order the avocado rolls again and to check the menu descriptions carefully. This time, we ordered the appetizer trio, which included guacamole, cheese dip (we opted for with jalapeno), and pico de gallo. This dish looks very pretty and the cheese dip was delicious, which even my cheese-hating husband agreed with, but I probably wouldn't order it again because the cheese was the only good thing there. Next time, I will get the cheese dip on its own. The pico de gallo and guacamole were okay but more bland than anything else. The guacamole was too smooth for our liking and tasted almost exactly like the store-bought Holy Mole Guacamole brand, which doesn't taste bad but I would have much preferred that it tasted homemade instead and preferably with more chunks. For my main, I ordered two tacos, which come with two sides. I ordered the buffalo chicken taco and the gringo ground beef taco on flour tortillas with a side of jalapeno mac and a side of fries. The buffalo chicken taco was spicy and delicious. I really liked it and regretted not having gotten two of the same. I did not like the other taco primarily because I did not like the flavor of the ground beef. Whatever seasoning they used on it, I was not a fan at all and would not get anything with their ground beef in it again. My jalapeno mac was made with the same spicy cheese as in the dip, which was very tasty, and the fries were crinkly and decent enough. Hubby ordered the Vallarta bowl with chicken but no cheese because he is a weirdo. It came in a big tortilla bowl, which he was not a fan of because he said he had to be careful not to break it and did not want to eat it. He did seem to enjoy the contents of the bowl, though, especially since he asked for black beans, which are his favorite. Service was pretty good so no complaints on that end. Overall, there were some things I liked and would go back for like the cheese dip, the jalapeno mac, and the buffalo chicken taco. I don't think it competes well enough with my favorite Mexican go-to in the area (Rojos), but it is enough of a contender to repeat once in a while when I need a break from Rojos but am still craving Mexican. read more

We had the lunch special Enchiladas which came with Rice & Beans and I had Street Tacos which were Carnitas. Both dishes were Excellent! Everything was so fresh and delicious! We've been to Fresco a few times and always have great experiences. The food is really good, the staff is so friendly. We've tried various dishes including enchiladas, tacos, and grilled chicken entrees. They also have unique sides, such as elote and yuca fries. The menu is large and has a variety of items to suit your taste. The kids' menu is a good value since the portions are large. I would say the only thing I didn't love was the basic red salsa that comes with the chips. The vibe is nice too, and my kids love pointing out all of the skull decor. read more

Speaking of likes- here are two LOVES: There is a choice of flour or corn tortillas. (There is something about the smell of corn tortillas that I don't like) and, two, it turned out that because we were there on a Wednesday it was house margaritas for $6.99. Great price, huh? But it was just fantastic! It was made with pride and quality ingredients! (Those of you who have had something in a glass that was made with a neon mix know what I am talking about!). This is one of the harder reviews I have had to write because it seems to be a good place with good and fresh food. I however just did not love it. I have to say first of all, I did not like that they did not offer a lunch menu. I am not sure I know of another Mexican restaurant that does not offer lunch specials. So for no real main dish on the menu at less than $10, it's going to be more expensive that what most people think. I got a bowl which was served in a taco shell bowl which was nice. There were two things I did not like about it. One was the texture. Everything in there was very fine diced including the chicken. So it was a very smooth bowl of food without much texture at all. Even the guacamole was completely smooth with no chunks of avocado. Also there was a slight flavor to the chicken that was not what I had expected. It was slightly bitter and acidic. I am not sure what that was and whether they might marinate the chicken in something, but it was not cohesive to the rest of the bowl. The ingredients seemed to be good quality so maybe perhaps it was just this one dish. Also, a little odd but I never saw the same server twice. Five different people came by my table and one of them was part of the kitchen staff because they had on an apron and gloves. It was not bad service by any means, it was just odd. Overall, I don't have really any bad things to say about this place. It was just that several small or odd things added up to me not enjoying it as much. read more

My family and I checked this out on a Fri night just to go somewhere different and we may have found a new go-to. Most of my praise is probably because of how kid-friendly the place is while the grownups can get decent Tex-Mex (of course, this goes without saying that we know we're not expecting authentic). We spontaneously stopped by Fresco Cantina Grille for dinner while running an errand in Roswell. We had a good experience here and would return again if we were in the area! We sat on the patio, which isn't huge but is nice. The staff were really nice. The food was solid. The cheese dip was good, and my husband really liked the salsa. We ordered the three tacos + 2 sides for $14.99. The fried chicken taco was our favorite taco that we tried. The Mexican rice and yuca fries were really good. The only thing that was negative about our experience here is that there were a ton of wasps flying around above us. We almost asked to move inside, but decided to stay outside because the weather was so nice. But we did point it out to one of the staff so they could look into it! read more

I only knock it one star down bc the wait was very long and there was lots of confusion of who was our main server and what the specials were. I can't stop raving about this place. I came for the food but I stayed for the service. The owner Ricardo is wonderful! All his staff is well trained, friendly and attentive. Diego and Andrea are my favs and they make the BEST drinks!! I want to thank them publicly because I left my purse there on a Friday night and couldn't come back to pick it up until Sunday. Wow! This Mexican restaurant is located in a strip mall and we didn't have super high expectations walking up. However, the inside is done super nicely and they have a covered patio for outside dining. We started with the trio of dips and all were delicious. Definitely huge fans of the queso and guacamole. I ordered the two tacos (one steak street and one grilled tilapia) with 2 sides (mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese). All of it was amazing, with the Mac n cheese being a favorite. It was creamy yet spicy. My boyfriend got the chorizo and chicken burrito with elote as a side. He said it had good flavor and a good portion size. We made it back to this restaurant after craving Mexican food. This time I tried a different drink & went with the Smoked Katrina which was refreshing & smoky. I had to get the Avocado rolls again, and they didn't disappoint us. They are filled with soo much flavor, the shrimp inside was yummy. I had the Texas burrito that comes with steak, chicken and shrimp. I added the Fresco way to it and also got the refried beans. I must say the beans didn't look like the typical refried beans, they were also a little salty to me. Our waiter was Diego and he was attentive & professional. Overall we had a good experience again.
