Doesn't look like much from the outside being next to a gas station, and the inside; while its decor is very Mexican, needs freshening (and the a/c to work better) has probably been here since the center has been built. My husband and son were thrilled with their food (taco Al carbon and enchilada de espincaca) mine was less thrilling. Nothing wrong with it, just kind of bland. My wife found this location on Yelp. We have been trying to find really good local Mexican food ever since we moved from Texas. There it is like every corner has a good place... here in Alpharetta/roswell... it is spotty. This is a hidden spot... hidden in plain view but hidden all the same. I must have been past it a dozen times but had never noticed it. The ambiance was nice but simple. It is not 5 star dining... but it is not run down worry what you're getting either. It is a descent place. The service was good... it wasn't busy here... so I think we got a lot of focus for sure. The menu is extensive. Lots of dishes to choose from. My wife always orders the guac when we go to Mexican. I get the queso... I can't stand guac. I mean just look at it... I swear I have too many kids and changed too many diapers to eat anything that looks like this! Anyway once past the aps we got to our meals and I was pleasantly surprise. My boys liked it, I liked it, and my wife liked it! Eureka... a Mexican place that we all enjoyed and it wasn't out of this world expensive! We are new to Georgia but our adult kids are not. All of us being from California where Mexican food is amazing and because my son-in-law and daughter love Mexican food and are very picky, they discovered Moctezuma and enjoy it quite frequently!! We have joined them on several visits before moving here permanently and now also continue enjoying and feeling like we've found a place like back in California that makes yummy Mexican food. The restaurant isn't fancy but homey. The husband/wife who own and operate the restaurant along with their adult kids are incredibly friendly. Everything we've ordered has been very delicious. The organica margaritas are very tasty and not boozy tasting which is how I enjoy them; however, they are pricey. My husband thinks they were $18 but can't confirm it. We just know they were pricier than a regular one. What they have that is pretty cool is a robot named Penelope that helps assist with serving the food. Parking has been plentiful when we have dined in. Twice that we've been there, it was super busy once so it must have been the busy hour for them, the other time not as busy. We came here for dinner on a week night and it was pretty empty. Parking was easy as it shares a strip mall with a gas station, but if it were crowded, might be an issue. We were seated in a corner booth and served immediately with chips and salsa. The first basket is free, but after that, they charge. The chips were good and so was the salsa, pretty flat and not chunky, this was also good on the food. From there though, it went downhill. They informed us that they were out of avocados after we ordered the guacamole. This also affected any dish that had guacamole or avocado in it, which is a decent amount of the menu. There's probably a grocery store nearby, that someone can run out to? I mean, this was pretty early on in the main dinner service time. I got the chile relleno and it was good, but not great. As Texans who were in the area for business, we were a bit skeptical to try a Mexican restaurant. After all, we have Mexican restaurants on every corner in TX. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the authenticity, quality of food, and friendliness of staff here. We ordered guacamole and chips to enjoy with our margaritas. They were generous with the amount of guac and it was delicious. The margaritas were super-sized and required two hands to hold! The drinks were not watered down, nor were they too strong. In the words of Goldilocks, "They were just right!" The pièce de résistance was the carne asada we both ordered for our main dish. It was tender, flavorful, and plate-size. Hands down, it was the best carne asada we have ever eaten!! My mouth is watering just writing about it! For an added touch of fun, they have a robot waitress, Penelope, who assists with delivery of items to the table! I've had this place bookmarked for quite some time because of all the great reviews & finally had the chance to check it out! My brother was in town and we decided to try this restaurant. We got the fajitas for two (chicken & steak combo) and loved them! So flavorful, juicy, & cooked to perfection! Definitely plan to go back to try more menu items. The staff is great too. They're doing a trial right now with a robot that delivers your food to the table & it was such a fun touch to the experience. Nothing compares to Moctezuma. This is by far the best Mexican restaurant I've been to in the north metro area. The carne asada is a perfectly cooked steak topped with roasted green onions and jalapeño. It's a large portion packed with flavor. The Chile verde is incredibly tender chunks of pork topped with a green tomatillo sauce. The pork just dissolves when you bite into it. It's delicious with or without tortillas. The margaritas are also a hit! There was not a single thing we didn't love at this restaurant. Definitely a hole in the wall you don't want to miss out on! read more

Yet another restaurant we should have eaten at sooner. You can taste the fresh ingredients in everything. The chicken in the fajitas was definitely marinated and full of flavor. The veggies were actually cooked and not just thrown in at the last second. We also had the tacos traditionales with steak which were delicious. We came here based on the glowing reviews. But honestly it was shockingly overpriced for basic strip mall Mexican food. Two salads and two kids meals with no drinks was over $50 before tip. I know prices have gone up, but this place is way more expensive than much better Mexican options. The food was ok but nothing special--pretty bland overall. They don't have fountain soft drinks and charge extra for a second basket of chips. The interior is pretty much like every other basic Mexican restaurant, but they charge an elevated price level. Amazing ! I wanted to find a place where the fish tacos were not tilapia and TADAAA - this is it ! Delicious fried Halibut tacos. I am in love. I am always in search for a great Mexican restaurant. After eating at some fantastic places in Arizona and Texas, I keep hoping to find something similar in Atlanta. Moctezuma is probably one of the better places I've found. It's a small place, but the service is exceptional. Everyone is friendly and you won't see the bottom of your drink glass because the staff seems to tag team all tables. From outside, the restaurant looks small but there are two dining rooms. The decor is colorful, but not overly done. There is just one table for outside dining and the restaurant charges a service fee for credit card transactions. The food is well seasoned and tastes fresh. The corn chips are not great, but the fahitas and carnitas tacos were awesome. The portions are generous, so enjoy. read more
