This place is the benchmark of southern hospitality and great bbq. Everyone was so friendly and all the food so tasty, I highly recommend iI.

Good little food find off I55, near Senatobia. The name throws me way off, but whatever, you do you. Here's why I say that.... It's a bbq, sandwich, and burger place essentially. There is nothing really fresh about it. It's an old convenient store modified into a restaurant as far as I can tell. It's got that country feel to it. Lots of silly stuff on the walls, you know. Food was 50/50. Main was good, sides are meh all around for us. BLT was really good, lots of bacon, toast was good, added the onions like she wanted and all. The onion rings were frozen and greens were the white folks version. They had some homemade pepper sauce and salt on the table for good reason. It helped some, not much. My rib plate was the same way. Ribs were good themselves, sides were just ok. Ribs hung on the bone, really nice bite, and had a slightly sweet smokey flavor. Sauce was really sweet and not my jam. I dipped a bit in it, not much. Beans were so sugary they were near becoming candy as they cooled. They had "fancy corn" as a special so I had to see what that was. It was pretty good, but not fancy, yo. I love corn! I may make it back here someday. The front counter staff was great, our server was sweet, food filled me up, and it was clean. That's a win on a road trip! '24 - 81/102

My spouse and I went to Fresh Farmer's market last night. You can smell the smoke meat aroma when you walk through the door. We were greeted and served by a friendly lady who happened to be the owner's daughter. Everything was wonderful: the food, the service and the atmosphere! My spouse and I will be back to try the catfish abc homemade hush puppies.

I just ordered the best club sandwich that I have ever had.

Every visit either dinning in or take out the food is fantastic. I highly recommend this place for BBQ or anything else. I highly suggest the club sandwich! Above 5 stars!

So we were hanging around the bonfire Friday night when we heard about Fresh Garden Market. So, of course, it's where we headed Saturday morning, which happens to be the only day they do breakfast. The outside of the place isn't much to look at but then you're surprised by a cute, fresh and vibrant interior. It's got a great country cafe vibe. The staff was friendly. The food was good. The hash brown casserole is awesome. It's fresh and cheesy. The best I've ever had. That alone will bring me back. Anyway, breakfast was good and I look forward to trying lunch!

Pulled pork sandwich plate with delicious baked beans and who can turn down fresh collard greens.

I was pleasantly surprised by this little place. They have some weird hours, but if you catch them open it's really good BBQ. I got the pulled pork sandwich with beans and who can turn down fresh collard greens. The beans are flavorful and baked perfectly with a little meat. A lot of the local places just open a can of bush baked beans and call it done, but not here. The collards are cooked with some fat back and no sugar I hate when people sugar them. Just a dot of the pepper juice on the table and its on like donkey kong. I will definitely be back!!

Small restaurant that if you're not paying attention you'll accidentally pass. Came here with a group of 9 but fortunately were able to be seated nearby each other. I ordered a smoked bologna sandwich with a side of banana pudding. Others ordered the brisket tacos, brisket sandwich, and pulled pork sandwich. The food came out very quickly and everyone was satisfied. Checkout took some time, but can't complain after being satisfied. If you're in the area, its a great spot for lunch but make sure to get there by 11:30!

Insanely good BBQ and the staff is amazing too. Very cool spot. I had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich. Their slaw was delicious.

I went here on a recommendation from a friend who spends time in the Oxford area on business and…read moreloves BBQ. She had never been herself, mind you. She just said that she heard about "a shack in the middle of nowhere with great ribs." I had to kill half my phone's battery to find a mention of the place that had an address. As for the business hours and phone number? Forget about it. But the lure was enticing - a small family-run grocery with no seating and raved-about smoked meats. And the name itself (supposedly the Mom's name of the Mom and Pop proprietors) was enough for me to go in search of it. When and if you go on this quest and your GPS directs you to get on Old Oxford Road off of 7 *NORTH OF* the 310 junction, ignore it and get on Old Oxford Road where it joins 7 below 310. Because if you do that, my friends, it's the very first property you come across. And if you do what I did and put your faith in your smart phone, you will end up on a very long roundabout which is only partially paved and you car's paint job and suspension will thank me if you don't do that. And if you are looking at the map right next to this review and not understanding how that can be, that's because THE MAP IS LYING TO YOU. I told Yelp where to put the red-star marker thingy and they are ignoring me. It should be waaaaay below where it is, at the other point where 7 and 310 meet. However you get there, when you get there the grocery is really just that by appearances. Most of the other customers (and there were a few) were there for beer. There's room for about a dozen cars to park, but there would be more if the rusted out car cemetery was cleared out of the backyard. There is a table inside the space but it looks like it's set up for a private late-night poker game or the family's on-site meals and meetings. In other words, it doesn't look like it's there for you. Even though there was no sign anywhere indicating that they had hot food and the lunch meats behind the deli counter looked like they didn't see much action, when I asked the nice gentleman behind the counter if he had any BBQ, he did indeed. Ribs and pulled pork. We got one of each. Ribs turned out to be a pork rack with a container of sauce on the side. The sauce was closer to sweet and sour sauce in taste and consistency. The ribs had decent flavor to them but were not fall-off-the-bone tender. They didn't fight too hard to get off the bone either, though. The pulled pork ended up being a sandwich. The pork was tasty but there wasn't enough of it compared to the large and partially stale bun. The coleslaw was creamy and fresh but I'm also fairly certain it wasn't homemade. I can't fault them too much for the food. As the draw to them comes from the fact that they are in the middle of nowhere, the problem with being in the middle of nowhere is you don't get many customers. It's not like the smoker was on (or even in view). I can't fault them for the supply/demand logistics of sporadic customers for a product that takes hours to prepare. But I can fault them for the price. We paid too much, in my opinion. A rack of ribs, one underwhelming sandwich, and a bottle of soda came to $23. I don't know what cost what since there's no itemized receipt. But the draw for you, I'd imagine, if you've read all of this, is saying that you drove to the middle of nowhere Mississippi, to a shack called Betty Davis, for some BBQ. And that's a worthy quest, no matter what I thought of my meal. Go for it.

This is my favorite bbq in Mississippi, and that's saying a lot!…read moreAs a Mississippi local raised on some of the best bbq in the area, I can easily say Betty Davis is the best. The ribs are straightforward because they don't need much adornment. They are cooked perfectly and served with a delicious, tangy/slightly spicy sauce. Betty Davis forever!!!!

But what I have been wanting to try is their breakfast and lunch bar. I couldn't find the hours for the bar printed anywhere (6a-9:30a). I just assumed breakfast would be until ten. So made it at 9:35. Most of it had been taken away, but asked if I could still be served with what was left. Lots of looking left and right trying to decide. Finally said yes if I was ok with what was out. I had scrambled eggs bacon and a biscuit. It was very good. Not saying it would be as good as an atlanta breakfast place like Callie's hot little biscuit. But it was good and $2.45. Lunch (10:30 or 11a until they run out which apparently is between 2-3p). I had Lima beans black eyed peas and rice with a yeast roll (or cornbread or spicy cornbread). $5. It was good. Hot and hit the spot. Not amazing. But good. I would go back. I expected the staff to be nicer and friendly since they are locally owned and operated. However, the staff at the bar tend to be surly, while the check out staff are always friendly. Not sure if they hate their jobs and owners or just always having a bad day when I go.
