The Good: large outdoor area for families and larger gatherings; very clean and well maintained. Not so Much: overall food quality and portions were disappointing; Food and beer prices seem to be geared towards the new Oxford money that's been moving to town; unfriendly service. Happy that we finally checked this place out, but we're probably not going back.

The brisket you could eat without teeth. 10/10 Turkey was the best I ever! 10/10 Mack and cheese pretty bland. Jalapeño Mack had more flavor but I wasn't a huge fan. Green beans were awesome. 10/10 Pulled pork sandwich was a 10/10 To top it off this place is a vibe! Corn hole live music. Multiple bars. I could live here.

The entry area and bar in the first building. This is where you wait in line to order.

We came here while in Oxford visiting our daughter. We thought it might be fun to try and we love trying new BBQ spots around the country. The atmosphere is super casual and includes an astroturfed courtyard with bags, a play area and lots of picknoc tables. The indoor parts (there are two buildings each with a bar) has indoor seating. Super cute spaces - industrial/reclaimed wood/rustic feel. The BBQ was good, but it was cold. The cobblers were okay - but clearly made with canned fruit. We weren't impressed with the sides, either - maybe better if they were hotter. The concept is amazing, the execution is just a little off. There are no bottles of sauces at the table - since we hadn't been here before one went back to get it and then we realized we had to walk all the way back to get it. The meats were out out on the counter (it's more of a cafeteria style set up where you order and you watch them serve it up). The side dishes were in steamers and a small (even if it was a cornbread muffin) was $5. The main BBQ plates were $19-26 and sandwiches were $10-18. I think some ingenuity about either educating customers better or adding some stations for silverware, sauces and drinks in both buildings would help, for sure. What we can say is the BBQ was sooooo tasty and clearly made with care.

Brisket is awesome. The best I've had since moving to this state. Sides are okay. Service was quick and sufficient.

The brisket was very good. I was surprised, good brisket is hard to find in this part of the country.

We came in to taste the local flair while on an Ole Miss college tour. The wait was lengthy however you could still stand at the bar and have a drink while you waited. We ordered a round of beers and checked out the place and the people. The bartenders were very nice, a lot of southern hospitality in this town. We were finally seated and ordered a seafood platter and a few orders of seafood gumbo. The gumbo was absolutely delicious. Shrimp that tasted amazing and sausage with great flavor. Rice cooked perfectly and overall a great dish. The seafood platter in my opinion, not worth the money. It was okay, but nothing spectacular. Coming from vegas the bar is set high on dining out as we have the best of the best in our city when it comes to places to eat. While this was a fun place to hang, it's expensive for a college town. The ahi tuna nachos at this place are absolutely amazing and a must try. Best thing I ate there. A ton of Ahi and a huge portion. There was more ahi than chips. Clean place, fair service at the tables, waitress delivered 4 entrees and saint bring the 11 year olds dinner. He sat for 15 minutes and I had to hunt her down to ask where the kids food was. Serve everyone at the same time, it's rude not to. This was a big annoyance for me as the child sits with no food while everyone else is eating for 15-20 minutes.

The Growler was something my family was looking forward to since they were coming for the first time from Connecticut and had heard good things, but the bartender made it seem like we weren't wanted there. I've been to The Growler quite a few times and have always had a great experience. I decided to swing in this week while back in town and it really held up. The staff working the bar are consistently awesome - they're personable, quick, and extremely helpful. The beer is always well poured. Their food is always great for the atmosphere. Some places tend to get lazy when serving bar food, but that is not the case for The Growler. There is so much seating available if you are planning to hang out with friends, and they have a few tvs and games available for use. It is somehow also a great spot for working - I have typed many, many papers here and have somehow never been too distracted despite this place often being filled with groups of people.

There's no clear separation between the girls' and guys' restrooms, which just means pee everywhere. There's a reason we prefer separate bathrooms! On top of that, I witnessed some pretty questionable behavior from the staff. A girl was clearly overserved -- she knocked over drinks, ran into people, and even stood up in her chair. Instead of stepping in, the bartenders just laughed and kept serving her. It felt really irresponsible. The drinks weren't the worst I've had, but definitely not memorable. The whole place just seemed classless compared to the previous bar. Definitely not worth the hype. If you are into Nashville style bars, this may be the place for you though

I need to back up and say that our visit was a table for 7 on Spring graduation weekend. Since they do not take reservations, we got in line early for the table and were 3rd in line for the table that would seat our party. The problem came when the first in line decided that they wanted to push their reservation back over an hour, and they let them. Add to that everyone wanted to spend time celebrating so the table turn was not the usual. We were not seated until almost 10:00 PM that night (now you know). The wait staff did an excellent job. Very knowledgeable and helpful. The decor and setting is classy fine dining with dark wood and colorful accent lighting and decorations.
