    Sweet Paan

Fresh Paan in the city! A local convenient store that looks like a little cell phone shop in the heart of "Curry Hill" this place makes meetah (sweet) Paan for $2. Simple, classic, and good for an after meal palate cleanser. Pay with cash. Close to many Indian restaurants in Midtown east.

Best Paan in the US. Looks like a cell phone store but you walk in and transport to the shops in Ajman u went to growing up.

Take cover from the rain…read more.. Been here before, and now I realize how popular this place has become. Two floors of food, and shopping experience. Food court is good, stopped for some Chicken Bone Broth Soup, continuing with the cold weather vibe. Reasonably priced, fun to just window shop and people watch, great building reconfigured for exploring how this old building use to be a nabisco factory? Certainly a good stop over for good shopping experience, tourist finds, and variety of stores to explore outright.

Swung by on a Saturday evening at 9pm for about 30 minutes while waiting for a late dinner…read morereservation. The physical location is open to 10pm though most shops and restaurants inside are closed by 8-9pm, only a handful of places like Chote Miya, Miznon, and La Devocione were still open though also wrapping up business for the evening. Wanted to highlight a few more stores here for this review: - Moon Man Foods: a Brooklyn-based company, they have a small stand about a third of the way thru the market (walking east to west), selling southeast Asian kaya jam, which is coconut-based and contain eggs, coconut milk, sugar, starch, and salt. They come in pandan, ube, and Java palm sugar (aka gula melaka) flavors. - Pearl River Mart and Pearl River Mart Foods: back in the day they used to be located in SoHo on Broadway, though rising rents made them relocate, and I'm glad they're still around! They carry all sorts of Asian-inspired decor, serving ware, stationery, and their "Foods" location downstairs is combination of Asian grocery, bubble tea (Milk & Tea), and Korean and Chinese snack/takeout stands (Kimbap Lab and Mao's Bao's). - Muji Market: this is a smaller location that carries a narrower assortment than your average Muji (house wares, basic apparel, accessories, kitchenware, snacks), though they have a full cafe serving coffee and matcha, simple Japanese lunch items like bowls, sandwiches and bento. Cafe prices seem a little higher probably due to the location. - gallery art: there is a small whitewashed hallway gallery of maybe a couple dozen small pieces by local artists, featuring NYC-centric photos, sketches, paintings, multi-media. Found this fun and entertaining!

We went in and got two things of the numerous items that we had on the list. We got the black and whites, as well as a couple of chocolate babka. The cookies themselves were just alright. However, the babka, my mouth is watering thinking of it. It's a shame it'll be a while before I'm back on the UWS, because I'd go back this moment to try the other things on the menu. The babka was definitely a standout. The bread itself was good, and the filling was great. I'd eat that again and again and again. Just on that, this place makes me want to return. There are a number of things I'd still like to try, but that babka was that good that it'd be a good reason by itself to return.

Zabars Ruined Father's Day…read more This is for a review of their online ordering and shipping. I ordered $200 worth of lox, bagels, and babka which was guaranteed to be there the next day (Sat), just in time for Father's Day. Sat rolls around, and there is no package even though it shows its in the process of being delivered on a UPS truck. Sunday rolls around, and the shipping says changes to Monday. I call on Sunday, speak to Michelle, and tell her my next day order didn't make it in time for Father's Day. She offers me a refund of the entire amount, or to reship the entire package. I choose the latter. She confirms and confirms next day shipping as well. The next day, I get my original package with spoiled lox in it. I throw away most of it and give the babkas I bought to mailman, since Zabars is sending me another package as agreed. But no, I get two voicemails. One saying my order has been delayed due to something being out of stock. Then I get another one, saying there was a misunderstanding, someone spoke to their manager, and only the lox will be delivered. What??? Although I understand that Zabars is not responsible for UPS's delivery fiascos, you can't just say you will deliver the entire order again, and then renege and say only part of it will be delivered. My Father's Day was ruined, and then Zabars offered to send THE WHOLE ORDER to make it better. Just because the UPS guy delivered my products eventually, they were still not delivered until 3 days later. I am truly disappointed in Zabars and especially since the manager lied and said that I had a misunderstanding that the entire order would be reshipped and the woman had originally said only the lox would be. Nope- I have her on voicemail apologizing for sending ONLY the lox. This is a bad way to do business. I am 100% sure they claimed the shipping damages from UPS also, what a scam. 0 stars for absolutely crap customer service, lies, and not delivering on their promises.

They also have various meats, pastas, olives, pickled vegetables. Anything you'd need to make a cheese board. Though they also have pre-made boards for when you're in a pinch. They have cheesemongers throughout the store, just waiting to help you out and find your dream cheeses! This class just did not need the standards of other classes I've gone to. The reason I gave this 3-stars is because what you get for $100 is just not worth the price, plus the final product was inedible. The class consists of giving you flour and eggs to make the pasta, then roll it (which was super rushed), a "cheese tasting" (three tiny portions of cheese with some pesto) and unlimited wine (sparking white and red). You then bring the pasta home to cook it (with the instructions to use a fork if you haven't had enough time to roll your dough, which some didn't). I made the pasta when I got home and it was completely inedible as was the person's I went with. The instructor was nice and the room is beautiful, which is why I added a few stars. They're also great about making sure that your wine is filled up. Overall, I would not recommend for this price, especially when the end product was a throwaway.
