In 2018 I was contemplating purchasing a black metallic 2014 BMW 335i. The deal was attractive, but I was presently 300+ miles from PDX in Washington state. I'd been told by friends never to purchase a black car because it would be hard to keep clean and you'd have to wax/polish it regularly to try and keep the paint swirls to a minimum. Since I'm handicapped and would have to regularly use car washes that was a major consideration. I called a good friend back in town and he told me that Fresh Start was introducing a new ceramic paint protection process that could revitalize the existing paint job as well as give me excellent protection from car washes. I wanted the car bad enough, and based on my friend's comments, I decided to purchase it on the spot. The day after I drove home, I went to Fresh Start, talked to Jason and had them do their detailing and apply the Opti-Coat 7-year ceramic finish (including the wheels because of the horrific BMW brake dust). Here's what I can tell you: 1 - First, when I picked it up, I was stunned - It looked like a new car off the showroom floor! Absolutely pleased beyond belief. 2 - I truly am handicapped and cannot lay a finger on a car. I took that car through Kaady car wash at LEAST twice a month for the last 7 years and it continued to look showroom quality after every wash. Did the paint ever show any carwash swirls? Yes, after a few years a trained eye could spot it. I had Fresh Start do a polish that removed a very tiny layer of the ceramic coating and all the swirls disappeared. 3 - I NEVER saw any brake dust on the wheels...it just slides off. 4 - After 7 years it's STILL shedding rain and no brake dust! 5 - I have never received so many compliments from strangers over a paint job! 6 - My brother watched what was happening to my car and decided to get the Opti-Coat treatment for his new car. 7 - Then his wife got a new car and they did the same for her car. 8 - Then my wife got a new car and we Opti-Coated her car. 9 - And now I've upgraded to a new used 2022 BMW M340i and I just had Fresh Start Opti-Coat that car and once again, the results are fantastic. I've also had Fresh Start detail my interior and the results are "Factory New!" Throughout all this, Jason, Caleb, Pedro and the rest of the gang have been wonderful to work with. I brought my 2023 Toyota Highlander in for ceramic coating back in November and I cannot be happier with nearly 3 months of having it! Washes are a breeze and worry free of any scratches. PPF (Paint Protection Film) was offered to me in the upcoming months and I ended up going with clear bra in the front clip as well as ceramic coating my entire car! I didn't know what it was at first but the crew at Fresh Start explained to me what it was and I'm glad they did! I didn't know you can also have your Paint Protection Film ceramic coated. This being my first brand new car i wanted the most protection I could possibly get! I had heard about clear bra before but it's the same thing as Paint Protection Film (PPF). I constantly travel to California so knowing my car is protected from rock chips no matter how many miles I drive is a life saver! Not only did I get my front clip PPF'ed and my entire car ceramic coated but I also got my interior coated as well! This is my 2nd time using Fresh Start Detail. The first time they did an exterior detail and were phenomenal! Incredible job with the cleaning and waxing, so when I needed to do a thorough cleaning of the interior, to deal with some mud on the central arm rest as well as faded spots on the door arm rests, and tennis ball fuzz on the carpets, I thought I'd use them again, and they certainly didn't disappoint! I dropped the car off at 8am on Monday, and obtained a rental car from them (an amazingly cheap $5 per day!). I had a tight window and needed to get the car back by 2pm that day (an already shortened window of time). They contacted me at 1:30 and said it would be done by 3pm, but that was too late for me, so they gave me a free day of the rental car, and I picked up my car on Tuesday morning. I was blown away with how clean the car looked inside. All of the tennis ball fuzz was gone (not an easy feat, as the fuzz intertwines with the carpet fibers and doesn't come up with a regular vacuum), the dull spots were gone from the door arm rests, and all of the mud was off the central arm rest! The car looks brand new inside, and I couldn't be happier! At first glance, you may think their price feels a little high, but when you stop and think about all the work they do, it's more than worth it. The old adage, "you get what you pay for" applies here. Sure, there might be cheaper places, but you won't find anyone who does a better job than Fresh Start! Still no complaints and they do a decent job especially considering how beat up my vehicles are when I bring them in for detailing. I attended a session with tips and tricks to hand wash the car with Optimum No Rinse (ONR) a month or two ago, and asked all kinds of questions, AND got my car cleaned on the outside. Sweet! ------BEWARE THIS BUSINESS------As you can see I do not write many reviews but occasionally becomes necessary and considering the severity of the issue at hand this is one of those times. While in the final stages of a years long project with my Porsche it was just coming out of the pant shop and would then need a final high end detail to finish it off. After extensive research I came upon Fresh Start Detailing in Beaverton on SW Broadway is supposedly a high end detailing shop. I called them and had a long conversation regarding my car and my needs and expectations, their capabilities, time frames etc. I just wanted to schedule a time to get started however they said they needed to actually see the car before they would schedule the work. For me this requires and extra trip and time at their location. Sooo....after a few hours of research time on the phone with them and now three more hours to do the pre-work visit with them I have over 5 hours of time invested in getting this part of my project done with Fresh Start Detail. So, at this point all seemed fine. I was really excited to get the paint finished and get the detail started. This was scheduled to be a $4000 FULL paint correction and exterior detail. Keep in mind it is VERY difficult to source ANY kind of quality work in todays market. This is a 7+ year project on a car worth over 200K. I am very choosy and it takes a lot of research and advanced planning to get a project like this completed. for many reasons I have only ever allowed a very few to get anywhere near this vehicle so its always a huge step when I release it into anyone else's hands. A little over a month later, paint is finally done and its ready for them so I give them a call to schedule and this is the response I get. "we've decided not to do your car" Now I'm sure you can imagine my surprise and disappointment especially considering ALL the invested time not to mention the excitement of getting this stage completed... Plus NOW I am in a real crunch time to get this completed within the scheduled necessary time for the season and the OTHER steps planned directly after the detail so If I have to start THIS step all over again who knows when it will actually happen I could literally be several months later for the project completion which causes a lot of stress and is very expensive. So I asked "WHY!!" and Kalebs (employee) response was no less than astounding. Youre a liar and have been dishonest and were just not going to do your car. I said there must be some sort of misunderstanding and asked for a more detailed explanation and he just hung up on me!!! BIZARRE RIGHT!!!! Now had I just called for the first time and that happened awe probably wouldnt be here right now but I have a significant investment in them already and a time issue and for them to behave like this in inexcusable and completely as un-professional as a business could be. First of all they gave me NO reasonable explanation and second if they did want to cancel my job why wouldnt they have let me know in advance instead of waiting until I CALL THEM to set the date. ANY professional would have called to discuss the issue and if they needed to cancel would have let me know immediately!!! Neither of which hey did. I just finally reached the owner and soon realized why his employees are the way they are because HE actually did exactly the same thing. Refused to either listen or even offer some sort of explanation.....just hung up on me!! SO here we are!!! ------BEWARE THIS BUSINESS----- This is their proven business practice and their deep MO Frankly I am VERY thankful the way it worked out because any business that practices like this I would want to have NOTHING to do with!! I brought in a lease return vehicle from a dealer for a once over. Jason was super helpful and walked me through what he could do to the exterior of the car.
