Let me start off by saying - I would highly recommend this company!! My husband and I were moving our family out of our condo, into our new home. One of our children was starting school in a new town the following Monday, so there was no margin for error. A few weeks prior, we'd hired a moving company (won't mention the other moving company's name here) and they arrived right on schedule. 3 guys came to the door, walked in looked around, walked outside and were on their cell phone. My husband an I thought this was strange and wondered why weren't they moving our belongings? The guys came back in, moved/stacked some of the boxes we had packed into the hallway of the building, and took our recliner outside. Then again, they were on their cell phone. Then my husbands cell phone rang. It was the owner of the moving company - telling us she didn't feel we were ready to move. (?!) We pleaded with her to move just the big items - beds, couch, recliner, treadmil, bureaus etc. 3 separate times we were on the phone with the owner. Then said she she'd have one of her guys "take a video and send it to her and she'd make the final decision" on whether or not they'd move us. The guy came in quickly took a video that I'd imagine nothing was visible. The final call the owner said she again didn't feel we were ready to move, cited that [the boxes] were too restrictive for her guys to be able to move anything, and they refused to move us. Mind you, "the boxes" were the very boxes that the moving company stacked in the hallway, creating a "restrictive" space and "unsafe environment for her guys to work. The guys brought up the recliner, then promptly left - leaving all the boxes they stacked in the hallyway of the building. Feeling rather helpless, we didn't know what to do. We were finally going to move into the house of our dreams, but ditched at the last minute. Called a few places - one of which being The Moving Crew. I cannot say enough about this awesome crew! They'd just finished a move, were having lunch - right after they were done, they came to our condo and got right to work. The owner of the company, James Cooper, was there helping with the move, even though he had a birthday party he needed to be at in a couple of hours - great guy I might add!! All of the movers were professional, handled everything beautifully - we even had a few good laughs with them :) I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for movers! Recently my partner and I moved from Arlington, MA to Pelham, MA. We got bids from 5 different movers, including Fresh Start. Although FS was among the least expensive quotes, they weren't the very cheapest, but we went with them anyway, and we are so glad we did. Everyone we worked with at FS was wonderful; not just professional, but kind and thoughtful. It started with a virtual walkthrough with Jamie, the owner. While talking, he mentioned how pleased he was that, during that week, he was able to keep 30 people employed - in other words he seemed like a genuinely decent human being. At the end he said "I hope you have a great move, whoever you go with," and seemed to really mean it. After that we worked with Kristen, a move coordinator. She was also helpful, friendly and knowledgeable, and helped us figure out a schedule, what, if any, extra insurance might be good, and all the other details. She was a constant cheerful presence, and also expressed great admiration for Jamie as a boss and as a person. Finally the day came and the 5-person crew arrived, Rainell, John, Jeremiah, Demonte and Cameron. Again to a person they were hard-working, friendly, skilled, and professional. At one point I was chatting with Rai, and he said "I tell people, don't judge someone by his size - show me his heart and I'll tell you who will get the job done." Well this team had heart. They got our place moved with hardly any trouble at all - including when it came time to to hoist my sofa over a freshly painted second floor balcony. Not a scratch on either the balcony or the sofa They were amazing. At one point I said to Cameron, the youngest member, that it seemed like a good crew to work on. He said, yeah, not only were they great to work with, but they actually took the time to explain to you how things were done so you could become more skilled. And another example: I ordered pizza for everyone - seemed the least I could do - and they even made a point to knock that half an hour off the bill. Rai and John managed the crew perfectly, Rai in the truck and John in the house. And Demonte and Jeremiah, though neither were what you would call big guys, by the end I was half ready to see if they could pick up the truck and carry it. And I wouldn't have been surprised if they did That's heart - all of it. Everyone knows moving house is dreadful, and frankly I hope never to do it again. But if I did, this is the exact crew I would want to work with. I couldn't recommend them more highly. read more

I used the Fresh Start Moving Crew for the second part of my move on July 5, 2017. They were fantastic!! I would highly recommend this mover to all my friends, family and neighbors. They were punctual, courteous, friendly, professional, respectful, nice and patient. The first part of my move in May 2017 was an extremely unpleasant experience with another moving company who had scammed me. I called Fresh Start Movers to do the second part of my move after I realized my belongings were not stored properly, many glass items were not wrapped and most of my things were just thrown into the storage unit. I explained my horrible experience to Mary (the office manager) and James (the owner) of Fresh Start Moving. They were very sympathetic and understanding of what I had gone through a few months prior. They were aware of the fact that I wanted to go slow with this move, as I needed to take pictures as evidence against the first movers I hired. James even gave me tips regarding who to call (AG, BBB, MAPU, FMCSA) and what websites to visit to make a case against the other company. They took the time to explain the situation to the 5 guys who they sent to my house for the move. They did everything in their power to make sure I had a positive experience for the second part of my move. The guys could not have been more wonderful, cooperative and patient as I took pictures of my damaged belongings. They were horrified to see how everything was packed. They explained to me the right and wrong way to pack, wrap and store specific household items. They told me how things SHOULD have been packed. James gave me one guy for free and also an hour of moving time for free. I think he felt badly about everything I had gone through with the first part of my move. He even came back to pick up the majority of my boxes for me so I didn't have to dispose of them myself. He also agreed to sign a letter for the Attorney General regarding all of the damage to my furniture and how the other movers incorrectly packed most of my items. If you are looking for a good moving company, I would recommend using Fresh Start - The Moving Company. This was my 4th move in 5 years. ( Job related, most recently medical reason) My first interaction with Holly the office manager was great and right away she was different than the other dispatch/sales personal that I spoke with. She was very professional, and talked about the company to let me know that it was a family run business and that they really cared about the job that they do. We went over my inventory list, and any questions that I had she answered them honestly, and I could tell that I was not going to be scammed with this company. She had great things to say about the Moving company's team, and told me what I could expect, which was exactly what happened before the move, during the move and after the move. On the day of my move October 5, 2018 I received a call in the morning from Jay who would be overseeing the move. He told me what time they would be there, and they arrived exactly on time! Jay and Jose were very professional, and had a great, upbeat personality. They made me feel very comfortable. From the very beginning, Jay explained everything that would be done, and even if they took a few minutes longer to come back upstairs, he always explained what he was doing. (arranging the truck so that everything would be packed accordingly) Nothing was damaged, nothing broken and he even took extra care in taking care of the glass and securing them to ensure they would not be damaged. They had me packed and ready to move within 3 hours and then unloaded within an hour. My experience with this moving company was a very pleasant one from start to finish and very reasonably priced too. I defiantly will be using them again, and will always recommend them to family, friends and coworkers. Wow. If I could give more stars to this team I would. There were so many things this team did to give me confidence in their service. The first part of this was James coming to the house and assessing the needs for our move. Within minutes of him leaving, the "office" (Stephanie and Holly) called to schedule the move date and we received a quote within 24 hours. James made us very aware of the guarantees, coverage and management of damages etc for our move. But there was no hard sell. Just facts. Moving is always a challenge to begin with but for me, waking up on the day of the move to 15 inches of fresh snow sent me into panic mode. We had talked to Stephanie during the weekend and she was keeping an eye on the weather as well and letting us know timing, etc for the crew. James called early on the move day and told us..."we will get this done"!! Within an hour TWO vans showed with 9 movers and the party started. The crew was amazing lead by Nic Carr. I personally met all of them and was so, so , so impressed with their professionalism, care for my furniture and belongings and the effort they put in to getting this move done despite the weather. When snow needed shoveling, they shoveled, when they couldn't go one way...they went the other. There was not a single mark on my walls in any location and the floors were covered and in great condition. You would not have known a moving company had been through either home. They cleaned up after themselves and were the nicest most competent movers I have ever worked with. My wife came home and said she had met the nicest guys from a local moving company while she was making a donut run for me. We were in the process of moving from CT to our lake home inWEst Brookfield, MA and were going to need a local mover to swap out furniture that we had in storage. I was very concerned in finding a good moving company for our high end leather sofas and did not need more stress in my life. One call and I was impressed. They came on time (within 2 minutes of the schedule). Local men who were so polite and courteous it was a surprise. Compared to our previous interstate movers these guys won hands down. Extremely careful, padded and wrapped everything and went out of their way to prevent even a scratch on the door openings. We have an old screened porch with a narrow aluminum storm door. When the leather couch would not fit through, they stopped and helped me take out and reinstall a screen panel on the porch so that they could get the sofa inside. Great to find movers that would take the time to help AND have a degree of carpentry experience and know how to use tools. Bottom line, move done on time, within quoted budget and not a scratch! When we build our detached garage next fall, I will not hesitate to call them to empty our storage and move everything in. Dave, Austin, Jonathan, Jose', and Wayne from The Moving Crew moved us from our home in Sturbridge to our new home, just two miles away, on a very rainy Friday. They were professional, polite, and patient the whole long day - 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. I never heard one complaint despite working in the rain all day. They were mindful of the freshly painted white woodwork throughout the new house. Everything arrived in excellent condition except for some small scratches on the foot board of our bed which can easily be repaired. Dave was extremely apologetic and concerned because he wrapped the bed himself and didn't anticipate the damage. We have moved six times over the past 26 years and are familiar with what can happen during a move. This is so minor that I hate to even mention it. However, I trust that it will be repaired and I have no hesitation about recommending The Moving Crew. They even moved a recliner from the second floor to our garage so a friend can come get it. Our schedule changed a couple times due to the fact that our new house wasn't ready yet. They were very accommodating. Mary was prompt in emailing me back and calling me. The "clutter capture" option was extremely helpful as we had to dispose of two twin mattresses, box springs, and a king size bed frame. We moved from North Carolina to Worcester MA last year and swore we'd never lift all our furniture again. We were lucky enough to be able to afford movers this time, and I carefully researched and selected a mover (not these guys). I received a quote, accepted it, and set an appointment online, only to have them become unavailable days before the move. So, last minute, I picked the movers whose website listed last minute service. Fresh Start should have been my first choice! From getting a quote to discussing my inventory, they were amazing. They showed up on time, paid attention during the walkthrough, and were extremely nice and well prepared. We were barely packed, and still moving debris and taping up boxes, but their team took it in stride. They carefully wrapped our furniture without being asked, and double checked with us every step of the way.  At the new apartment (which they beat us to!) they put everything exactly where I asked, and were careful on the new floors. All in all, Mike and his team made Herculean efforts, and completed our entire move in about three hours! My first phone call to The Moving Crew was an indicator of what incredible customer service I was going to receive. Angela was wonderful and she was the reason I booked with the company. I was a wreck and so nervous as had never used a moving company before, I was on my own with very little funds and when you research some companies online there are so many horror stories! Angela reassured me that I wouldn't be disappointed, not to worry and that they could fit me into their schedule with only a weeks notice! I received a quote for 2 movers and on the day 3 movers came which was good as I had more boxes than I had originally thought. James, Jay and Angela were friendly and efficient. The job was done in the time quoted despite the extras. My landlady wanted me to add to my review how impressed she was with the company. In addition to my stuff, they moved a dryer for her and even swept the area too- she was very happy. I cannot say enough about how relieved and happy I am to have used this company. In the middle of November I received a flyer in the mail from Fresh Start Movers, filled out the online form, and received a quote pretty quickly. I did the same thing with some other moving companies and ended up booking another local company. 3 days before my move on December 18th, I called that moving company to obtain their Certificate of Insurance (COI), as my destination address requires one. I then learned that they do not carry insurance! My stomach turned. How had I backed myself into this corner?? So I called Fresh Start, hoping they could find space in their schedule. By some miracle, they had a cancellation on the day of my move because of the huge snow storm approaching New England. Elyssa was the original person who helped me, and Holly was the one to book my move the second time. Both were professional and awesome. The day came, and David and Jake showed up right on time, ready to work, and had me on my way. This moving experience was as enjoyable as moving could be due to this company and it's crew. The initial quoting process was great. Communication was timely and very clear. The owner came out to our property and walked through everything and explained how the moving process would work. An estimated quote was provided that ended up being spot on. On move day the crew (Jason, David, Brian, Brandon) called ahead to let us know they were on their way and arrived right on time. The move was very efficient and they took the necessary time to ensure our items were well cared for. The crew was very polite and offered to help us with anything that we needed. Couldn't ask for better movers. They made a hectic stress filled event much easier to deal with. Their experience showed as they were always working together and communicating. Very happy with the service from Fresh Start The Moving crew, David, Jake, and Bryan arrived exactly on time when we met up. Some of the furniture was extremely heavy (large item of solid wood ). The crew promptly loaded the furniture into the truck and were on the way to my condo in no time. Moving the heavy furniture up 3 sections of stairs was no problem for them. The furniture was set in place where i wanted. Some weren't working out so well and they moved them around until I was satisfied. I was very please watching how they worked together. I could see they were professional movers..They already knew the correct angles to pass the 3 piece entertainment center through doorway. Everything was carefully moved as to not damage the items. David, Jake, and Byan worked together as a team. quickly and efficiently thus saving me time to put towards sorting out my things. They were very very helpful and friendly. After reading all the very positive reviews for Fresh Start online we hired them for our move from a small apartment into our first home, and we couldn't be happier with the crew they sent to help us! Holly in their scheduling office was very friendly, explained their bid and how the final figure would work to me very clearly. Even when we called back a few days later and requested changes to the original bid, she reassured me it wouldn't be a problem. The apartment was on the 2nd floor with a rather narrow stairway our only way to get anything in or out. Edgar, Eric and Angel, the moving crew sent to help us, were all awesome and very friendly. They were all more than willing to move not only the furniture we originally requested, but also boxes we had packed beforehand! They were very careful with all our stuff and helped place the furniture wherever requested at the new house. I contracted with Fresh Start in January, 2018 when I sold my very large home in Boylston. I have used other professional movers in the past but was impressed by the mailing I received when I listed my home and decided to try a new company. The initial contact was extremely professional (Mary) and the detailed follow up and quote was timely. The crew was professional, affable, and worked very well as a team making the packing and move very efficient and less stressful. The crew went above and beyond as highlighted in many reviews here. We even called FS on 4PM the night before our closing asking if they had a small crew to assist us with packing up boxes etc and delivering them to our storage facility. Timing was in our favor and two men showed up at 6 and in 2 hours we were done. This was in addition to the 2 days we had contracted them for previously. Just want to drop an FYI,about this moving company! Yes, their response was less than 3 hours. Kristen returns a phone calls as often as it takes to make you and your move work for you. Then, James, the owner,comes to you,explains everything and answers all you questions, including how they will take care of all your things during your move.If you have any last minute questions, that's where Kristen is right there, again! Now, I had two of their most spot-on guys Christen and Jacob! They knew when to use the furniture padding, always asked if I wanted something to be disassembled before doing it. They moved quickly and orderly and very professional. I often offered water,which they would refuse,until I insisted.They were al l about getting the job done for you! Of course, there was Belinda when I needed to change the moving date, she made that work for me! I will definitely reccomend this company to everyone moving in the future! Fresh Start was very easy to work with from the very beginning to the completion of the job. Both Elyssa and Holly were very responsive and helpful with setting up the move. On the day of our move, I was informed that the crew would be a little late due to people calling out with Covid. I appreciated the transparency and was very appreciative that they were able to get a 4 person crew together with only a slight delay (about 30 mins). The crew from Fresh Start showed up ready to go and with no complaints, even on the coldest day of the year. Our crew consisted of Conor, Brian, Edwin, and Lemi. They all worked efficiently and were able to navigate fitting large furniture through tight doors. They wrapped our furniture well, and we only had one lamp break, but we were reimbursed for the damage. The apartment I'm currently living in, wasn't ready when my 2 bedroom home sold. I had to move everything into a storage facility in Holden. I hired Fresh Start the day after Christmas to move everything out of the storage facility in Holden, and into my new apartment in Worcester. Since I was downsizing, what didn't fit into my apartment, had to be moved to a storage facility in Worcester. The weather was terrible that day and it only took them 3 hours to do all that. They were quick but efficient, and nothing was missing, damaged or taken to the wrong destination during all that moving. Chris and Jon were great and their crew worked hard to make sure I was happy with everything. I'm 70 years old and they helped make a stressful situation, so much easier for me. I had a very short window in which I had to move from Mass to Connecticut. The staff worked with me to find a suitable time for the move IN LESS THAN 7 DAYS. They sent me a crew that included 2 guys and a truck plenty large enough for all my stuff. The moving crew could not have been more pleasant and motivated. They took the time to make sure everything was carefully loaded to avoid any damage to my belongings and they really 'hustled' throughout. Once we got to my new place, they were very careful to make sure they asked me where things should go and they took extra time to make sure I was perfectly happy before they started to wrap up. One of the movers, Wayne B. took a tumble on my walkway. Looked like it might have hurt but he just sprang up and brushed it off. Embarrassed for having it witnessed at all.
