Used a U-Pack 27' trailer to move from New England to the Southwest -- overall generally pleased, except for small roof leak in trailer that fortunately we found and fixed day of move. (We spent 20 years in military, so very familiar with moving, though had never used U-Pack; also we were moving our stuff from three different storage units vs. moving from a house, so stuff was already packed) The trailer roof had been patched with a new metal piece that apparently was well-caulked and riveted-down, except for one of the rivets that had popped-out leaving a small hole through which there was a steady water drip that we only discovered because it happened to be raining the a.m. our loaders were scheduled to come. Fortunately, the loaders had a step-ladder and spray they they were kind enough to apply that seemed to fix it (we saw no water damage to our stuff on other end). On good side: great communications both on phone and online; very easy to schedule, easy drop-off and pickup; professional, competent, customer-oriented people (drivers included); competitve pricing; cross-country delivery faster than estimated (apparently trailer was loaded on train at some point according to U-Pack customer service rep I spoke w by phone). Would we go that route again or recommend to others? Depends on how much stuff and how heavy...we used MovingStaffers to load (nice guys, but not the best movers -- left way too many pieces unwrapped, wood-on-wood so finished got rubbed-off, put as many heavy items up high as they did down low so a number of boxes and plastic bins got crushed, etc.; I should have micro-managed them...) -- our MovingStaffer "unloaders" by contrast were top notch! All that said, for our situation, going ABF / U-Pack / MovingStaffers worked well overall. read more

There are a lot of mini container place to choose from. After a lot of research I went with U-Pack because their prices were reasonable, I could save money by choosing the terminus to terminus option (nearly $1,000!) And their containers were hard-sided. The moving from end was SW Cutoff in Worcester, MA....very nice and efficient office. Receiving end was in Tallahassee, FL.... Had everything ready but they don't have their own office so you have to go into another office and then they call or buzz the guy... So it was a little strange. But I assume most people get it delivered door to door. read more

This was hands down the easiest move we've ever done (and we've done over 10 long distance moves in the last 15 years). The drivers who delivered the cubes on both ends were exceptionally professional and friendly. They went out of their way to make sure were happy. The overall price of the move was slightly more expansive than driving a truck across country, but much more pleasant. We paid for a month of storage so we could take advantage of the time to do some traveling. My single complaint is with their pricing strategy. Request a quote from two different web browsers at the exact same time and you will get two wildly (over $500) different quotes. When I called to ask about the discrepancy they gave me a bunch of b.s. about real-time pricing based on availability and demand. Their pricing strategy is based on a random-number generator, just request enough quotes until you know you're not paying the sucker price (don't forget to clear your cookies, or use private browsing more). Hint: Use a computer, mobile quotes always came in higher. read more

I used U-Pack to move from Indiana to Massachusetts and their service was unacceptable. From the very beginning there was absolutely no communication from the company when it came to giving updates about the location of my container. The company said it would take 3-5 business days for the container to be delivered and that wasn't the case as I'm now a week past my drop-off date. Today the container was supposed to be delivered at an agreed upon time and that has now passed. I contacted the main U-Pack office at the 800-number a few times and they were less than helpful and I had the same experience with the local vendor. I couldn't/wouldn't recommend this company for a move. read more

I don't normally leave reviews but u-pack provided such excellent service that I simply have to help spread word about them. To start off, I just used u-pack for my move from Worcester MA to Lancaster PA May '17 move. Truck arrived on time-both for drop off and pick up each time and anytime I called with a question-I was answered by helpful/professional service rep, the icing on the cake: it cost me $1100+no hidden fees or taxes for 28ft of storage-to compare: pods and packrat both quoted me in the $2500 range for the same exact service and only 16ft of storage. Thursday night, U-pack moving dropped off someones' cube outside of my friend's apartment building. There are a couple of parking spaces outside of her complex for visitors. This night they were all full, except for the handicap spot. So U-pack dropped the cube in the handicap parking space!!! I think that is absolutely disgusting behavior! read more

After seeing all the negative reviews we were concerned about what to expect, but we decided to give it a try as it is the most economic option of moving long-distance for us. It turned out good. The driver delivered the ReloCube very early as scheduled. We are able to communicate the pick-up and delivery over telephone. Shipping time is 3 business days (with overlaping one weekend). No damage to all the stuff. Overall very good experience. I would use it again if I need to move but for Christ's sake I am very tired to that already. read more

This move was by far one of my best and I've moved 10 times, with professionals and on my own. The man who dropped off my containers was extremely friendly and when he came back to pick them up, I wasn't finished loading them and I had about an hour more to go. He actually helped me as far as how to load the containers properly to get the most out of the space. He didn't have to do that or wait for me to finish. He went above and beyond. They arrived in Pittsburgh on time but with the narrow streets here and low hanging telephone wires, the truck couldn't make it up here so they met up with another driver and brought the containers up, even though this stop made the driver late for his child's game. I felt bad but he made sure that I had them on the day they were promised. I would definitely recommended this company. They were also reasonable considering that some competitors were much more expensive. read more

This was my first experience with the U-Pack service and I had heard good things about it leading up. The initial drop off wasn't exactly when the drop off was estimated to be, but it was close to the estimated timeframe. The individual who delivered the trailer was helpful and showed us how to use the equipment. The problems really started occurring when the trailer was delivered at the destination. On Wednesday, January 27th, I scheduled the trailer to be dropped off on Friday, January 29th. The estimation for drop off was between 8am-12pm. By 2pm, the trailer had still not arrived, so I called to get an update. They told me that the trailer would be dropped off between 4-6pm at that time. The trailer finally arrived after 6:30pm. On this day, it was known that there was going to be a large storm in the area on Monday afternoon into Tuesday. I had asked if I would be able to schedule a pickup for Monday morning since we would have the trailer unloaded and by scheduling for early morning pickup, we could avoid having it stay there in the storm. I was told that that would not be a problem. Monday morning comes and I call ABF in order to confirm that the trailer will be picked up since there had been multiple delays with this distribution center at this point. I found out that the specific distribution center in Worcester was closed for the entire day due to the storm even though the snow was not starting until noon that day. I made several phone calls to the company and different distribution centers to see if there was anything that could be done as I had specifically asked the week prior to get it picked up early to avoid this situation. Luckily, I was able to contact the town and confirm that there would be no fees for leaving the trailer on the road in the storm since the plows could maneuver around it. I was told that the trailer would be picked up Tuesday or Wednesday depending on the weather. Wednesday night I get a call that the trailer could not be picked up due to there being snow where the cab hooks to the trailer. ABF stated that it was the customer's responsibility to remove the snow under and around the trailer, even if the trailer was not on the property. I made more calls at this point to dispute this as nowhere was it stated in writing nor previously told to me that this was required by the customer. Moreover, I specifically tried to avoid this situation by scheduling prior to the storm arriving. We were told we had to clear the snow or wait for the snow to melt. Because the owners of the home we were staying in wanted it gone, we cleared the snow on Thursday. In the process of clearing the snow, we got tar from the trailer onto our clothes that we could not wash out. The trailer was finally picked up on Friday. This experience with U-Pack was extremely unpleasant and the customer service was appalling. If it was the customer's responsibility to clear snow from the trailer, that should be communicated somewhere and included in the contract, regardless of whether it is on the property or not. Knowing that the storm was coming, the distribution center should not have confidently stated that the trailer would be picked up Monday morning. I was looking forward to using U-Pack for my future moves, but after this experience, this will be the first and last time I use this service and I will recommend everyone else use a different moving and/or rental truck company in the future. read more

Placing an order was easy, they sent me all the paperwork via text and email. I had to change my pickup date to an earlier date, which was easy and accommodating. The delivery of the empty truck was quick, as well as pickup when it was packed. However, delivery to my new address was late by a week. I called customer service and spoke to a very nice man. He was apologetic and got right on it to make sure my things got to me ASAP. He offered to reimburse me for the days they went over the estimate, which they did when I got the truck delivered. Honestly, they did not have to reimburse me. It clearly states it the paper work that there is no guaranteed delivery date. The fact that they did reimburse me for the extra week is why I would use them again. read more

ABF U-Pack gave the lowest bid of the seven "self-moving" companies I called. Based on other reviews I expected there might be some vagueness about delivery times, but that wouldn't matter to us, so I signed up with them. They gave us an 8:00-12:00 window for initial delivery, and the containers showed up at 8:05 a.m. The delivery guy was courteous and thoughtful, and he refused a tip. We filled one container, didn't use the second, and called U-Pack, who picked up the containers the same day. Two days later we were still on the road from Michigan to Massachusetts when we got the call that our container had arrived at the Boston area terminal. We arranged a delivery time, and the container was delivered exactly as promised. This is the way to move. read more

Overall, our experience with U-Pack was a pleasant one. Our move was long-distance and our pick-up/drop-off date needed to be changed multiple times. U-Pack easily and promptly adapted to and accommodated our plans with professionalism and courtesy. The drivers were kind and polite. The trucks were clean (as clean as a freight truck can be) and the equipment was in solid working order. I would recommend that U-Pack also provide a dolly in each of their trailers in order to help make loading and unloading easier on their customers (especially considering the price that we pay for their service!). Admittedly, I was a bit nervous about shipping a home's worth of belongings across the country in a trailer that was to be loaded with other cargo, but I have to say, U-Pack made this move SO much easier than I anticipated! Everyone that I encountered, from the customer service representative that I booked a reservation with, to the dispatcher at the Worcester, MA, location to the arrival facility in Tacoma, WA, was super helpful and friendly. U-Pack gave me an estimate of 6-8 business days in transit (other companies were quoting me 10 days to 3 weeks!) and my trailer made it across the country in only 5 days. The price was SO competitive - U-Pack saved me at least $1500. Yes, you MUST pack your belongings very carefully and snugly because everything will shift. It is a tractor trailer, after all, and a smooth ride is no guarantee. A few pieces of furniture that I didn't wrap in blankets ended up with some dings and scratches, but everything that was cushioned and wrapped made it safely and without damage. I really am so pleased with my U-Pack experience. I would use them again and will happily recommend to others! read more

I shipped my belongings via Upack cross country and pretty much all of my furniture arrived damaged. There must have been lots of shaking of the Relocube during the trip since many of the boxes also arrived displaced. I tried to put in a claim, but their claims website didn't work. Bottomline, if you have breakable items, do not ship via Upack. read more

STOP! Don't even think of renting UHaul or Penske for your next small move! For inter-state moves, U-Pack is the only option you should consider. Unlike the more advertised brands like Pack-Rats, or PODS, U-Pack's pricing is more straight-forward and flexible. The key to getting the best price is to book in advance. Cubes were limited on my first choice moving day (2 weeks later), so I delayed the move a month and saved $500! As others have said, 2 cubes fit perfectly into a standard parking place. A 7'2" couch fit perfectly standing up against a wall in a corner. U-Pack estimated I would need 2 packing cubes for clothes, lots of books, 2 bookcases, a desk, a dresser, queen sized mattress set, big couch and a small bistro table and 2 chairs. I hired 3 men from a local moving company to help pack the cube, and they fit everything into one...saving an additional $300! I believe the key to having no damage is to use professionals to pack your cube. They are experienced with using pads, rope and positioning to ensure a no-shift ride. On the delivery side of things, the cube arrived as expected. All U-Pack personnel were extremely friendly and the delivery driver was able to put the cube right in front of my front door! The bottom line for my move was this: the total cost was $825 less than renting a 19" rental truck, paying for diesel and tolls and spending a day and half driving through 7 states. I would definitely use U-Pack again for a small move. read more

I used the U-Pack Relocube service to move from outside Boston to San Diego. U-Pack MA superseded my expectations and was a 5/5. The office was easy to coordinate with, they provided you a 4 hour window for cube drop off and only required a minimum of 4 hours notice to pick up the cube on the day of your choice. I had it delivered one day and picked up the next and everything worked extremely smoothly. My stuff was shipped across the country faster than I anticipated and the SD office held it until the day I wished it to be delivered. Everything in one piece and nothing was broken!! I would have to give the SD branch a 3/5 because they were so much more difficult to coordinate with. First of all, the delivery time window is 8am-5pm and they will not give you a more specific time frame until the day of. They require you call a day in advance for pick up. When I called to have it picked up the next day I specified it would not be ready until after 11am which they said they would accommodate when they made the route, however the driver called at 10am saying "he was in the area and asked if the cube was ready to be picked up" I said it was not assuming he would still come after 11. Thank god I called the office to confirm after it was ready to be picked up because since it had not been ready at 10, the driver had automatically marked it for pickup for the following day. Since the Relocube was in a spot where it had to be moved that day it was incredibly difficult to get ABF to bring the driver back and have it picked up on time because "he had moved on to a different area of the city". He did come back later that day but it was all a little too stressful. I also used moving staffers as they recommended and the movers were great, efficient and showed up on the day I requested (the day after the cube was delivered). read more
