Great experience-a truck of theirs was delayed with another job and they rented another truck to ensure they stayed on schedule. Lovely movers-on time, fast, efficient, no scratches. Polite/courteous & friendly. Felt safe/comfortable with my kid alone in the house. For a very reasonable extra charge arranged in advance, they also helped straighten a rug bunched up under a heavy piece of furniture. The worst moving experience of my life. Ended up losing a coffee table and multiple boxes of belongings including dishes, cooking pots/pans as well as diplomas, garden supplies and tools. Because they were moved to storage and loss not discovered for a year not even a possibility of a claim. Customer service was limited and communications poor. read more

This review is for Colonial Van Lines out of Pompano Baeach, FL. Horrible start to a move! My scheduled pick up dates were June 5 & 6. After several calls the Subcontractor moving company showed up a 4pm on June 6. I final raised hell with Colonial and on Saturday we had 4 people show up. I will admit that the packing and moving people from JR movers (Subcontractor) were Excellent! About 4 pm Saturday the truck rolled out. My wife and I after having to cancel Motel reservations had to make new reservations (at a higher price) and quickly pack our car and dog and race to a Motel in another state. Note: we had a Closing on our new house in NJ set for Mondat June 9 at 11am. That ment Sunday was a very long drive to finish the trip to NJ. However, we did make the Closing. PS: Colonial only give you 3 days to then unload your truck at destination. THIS IS A COMPANY THAT CARES MORE AMOUT THERE MONEY THEN THE CUSTOMER! read more

I requested furniture assembly services from Colonial Moving, to assemble a heavy and sophisticated standing motorized desk. The response was quick and the offered price was very reasonable. Two guys showed up on time, were very professional and careful, and did the job well. I specifically asked to follow the instructions that came with the desk, which they did. Even though the job took more time than expected due to the unusual complexity of the furniture, they stuck to the pre-agreed flat rate. (And I was happy to add some more on top of that in recognition of their time spent and the quality.) I would use them again. read more

I was mostly moving myself from apartment to apartment in Natick when I broke my ankle. In a rush to get stuff moved, but incapable of lifting/carrying much myself due to injury, I called around and Colonial quoted me a great flat rate to come pick up and deliver the last of my belongings (eight large pieces of furniture and five heavy boxes). The day after my call was Tropical Storm Elsa moving through the area, flooding roadways, and dumping buckets of rain... but the guys showed up and knocked out my move in under 90 minutes. My experience with Colonial Moving was spectactular. John helped me arrange a final move from a family home which was recently sold. I live 400 miles away and had moved all the remaining things to keep into the 2 car garage. Then I was unable to return in the timeframe required for the closing. John arranged everything over the phone. He worked with the new owners for scheduling. His men arrived promptly and did a great job. Moved everything to a nearby storage unit for me. Hired Colonial to help us unpack portable storage units and move our furniture into our new home. We had a schedule mishap- they had the move scheduled on the wrong day- but made sure they got us moved in on the same day as we needed. The two men who showed up to our house were polite, fast and took such great care with our home and possessions. They unpacked and placed our furniture within a few hours. Colonial movers told me they had plenty of experience loading pods and to have furniture pads and tie downs available for loading which we did. When our pod was delivered we were mortified to find they only tied down the piece of furniture at the end of the pod (the one visible to us) and only wrapped the furniture when we were watching. Our most expensive pieces of furniture did not have any sort of pad or protection and every piece of furniture had fallen onto each other because nothing was tied down. We had returned pads and tie downs so their were plenty available the movers just chose not to use them. They also loaded our boxes marked fragile at the bottom of the pile and they were crushed. We tried multiple times to reach out to the company. The called back once asking for us to submit pictures and told me they would send insurance information. They only sent something saying they had insurance and gave no contact information to an insurance company for us to contact seeing as how almost everything we own was damaged in some way due to their lack of tie downs and furniture pads. I haven't heard back from the company since. I often read one star reviews and think the reviewer may be exaggerating so I have attached pictures for reference. Use someone else who will treat your belongings with care. Or at the very least return your phone calls for insurance requests when they don't. read more
