They have the best assortment of deli food to choose from. While their frozen pasta and appetizer dishes are really pricey, their pastry cakes are absolutely marvelous, especially for the price. They have large assortment of nuts and coffee, which is really pricey but at least you get to see and taste the product before you make the huge purchase. Think of them as a more of an upscale Aldi. Their produce looks great. Better than most supermarkets in the metro Detroit area. You'll often find that they even have better prices than Meijer on some occasions. The self serve peanut butter station is just genius. You get to control how much YOU want. You don't have to buy a whole jar if you're not a big peanut butter eater. Same with honey and maple syrup. Although it would be extremely important if they could label the origins of their products. I'd be reluctant to say that their consumers have the right to know if they're buying Asian products. read more

I appreciate the overall quality of your offerings except for the prominent promotion and dedicated display of Boar's Head products. Public records of Boar's Head indicate a very troubling history of food safety and sanitation issues, including serious violations documented by federal and state authorities. In 2024, Boar's Head recalled over 7 million pounds of meat due to possible Listeria contamination and USDA (FSIS) inspection reports and enforcement actions have described insanitary conditions and recurrent non‑compliance findings at certain Boar's Head facilities over multiple years. Based on this documented history, I am not confident that Boar's Head has adequately addressed its systemic food safety problems, and I personally will not purchase their products going forward. It is disappointing and surprising to see Fresh Thyme Market prominently supporting a brand with this type of public safety record. I respectfully urge you to reconsider selling Boar's Head products. I guess I must have walked through quickly the last time I was in a Fresh Thyme. They have their own seasoning packets here. They have the regular and large Haas avocados, all under ripe. The smalls are quite small too. I will have to wait a few days to be able to use them. Second store with days or more before the avocados will be ready to use. Two registers were open. In and out in less than 10 minutes. Could easily spend more time to browse the aisles. read more

The market looked wonderful. All of the vegetables and fruit looked fresh and good. The mistake that I made was to buy an apple crumb pie from their bakery. Do not make this mistake. It was not a pie from their bakery. It wasn't even as good as something you could buy at any grocery store in the frozen section. I ended up throwing the pie away. I'm pretty sure it was made with canned apples to start with and it was just horrible. A total waste of eight dollars. I probably won't even be going back to that store for anything. read more

I have done grocery shopping at the Fresh Thyme location in Troy but today I was in Rochester for other business so I decided to stop at this location. Essentially it has the same selections of grocery, bakery, deli, produce, etc and offers the same ad specials. I have gotten used to using their App to identify sale items I am interested in and to create my shopping list. Since the layout is close to the same as in Troy and I had my shopping list to work from, I quickly found most of what I was looking for. There were a couple of items I couldn't find so I asked one of the staff members and he led me right to them instead of just pointing. When I selected everything I was looking for I headed for the checkout. They had several lanes open so checkout went quickly (every time I went to the Troy location they only had one lane open). Both locations are about the same distance from my home, so future shopping will be at either one based on what else I'm doing on the same trip. read more

Fresh Thyme is now overpriced Meijers Time. I leaned tonight why my local Fresh Thyme Farmers Market is so pathetic. Just before COVID Meijers bought them. They still have signs up such as "Freshly Made Pizza!" (nope - ovens were removed over a year ago) "Juice Squeezed Fresh Daily!" (nope - pre-packaged) "Artisan Sandwiches!" (Nope - made in an Oregon plant). A clerk told me many of the products are sold at Meijer down the road for far less. The meat counter here now closes 2-1/2 hours before the store so you can but pre packaged Meijer meats. Pathetic. read more

I'm updating my previous review of Fresh Thyme. I walk up to the deli to "order" sliced corned beef. Clerk tells me to shop and then come back. There is not one other customer there. So why not slice my meat and I'll just wait for it? He says no. I shop my list, and then proceed to check out. No humans. It's self check out only. Lines are long. I finally manage to get a register and check myself out. Frankly, I should get at least a 5% discount for being a cashier today. Finish and leave, only to completely forget about my corned beef waiting for me at the deli. This is probably the 5 time I've left without my deli items. Now they're stuck with it! If they'd just slice my order while I'm standing there the first time, I wouldn't leave the store without it and they wouldn't be stuck with it! That's on THEM now. read more

My daughter and I were in Rochester grabbing something and she wanted bacon. I really only buy my meats at Fresh Thyme but the one on Big Beaver. So, we were super close to this one so we stopped. We parked out in the boonies because much like Big Beaver Location this one is busy.. We walked in, grabbed a few things and walked to the meat counter. They had no bacon, no ground beef, maybe one type of sausage. They only had the packaged meat in the cooler. WAIT, WHAT? It's Sunday midday and you are essentially out of meat. How does that even happen? I have a high school friend that use to work at this location and she said they are usually like that! How do people shop? Anyways, we ended up putting our stuff back and going to the Big Beaver Location and got everything we needed. At just after 2:30pm Sunday afternoon, I stopped by the Rochester Hills Fresh Thyme to pick up a few items. The contempt and disrespect shown to me at checkout was breathtaking. I almost thought I was on Candid Camera for a moment. Sadly, I wasn't. Without going into all the details, I will say I was treated like a child by the woman at the self-checkout, and she said to me: "I treat a lot of people like three year olds - why should you be an exception." This location is closer to my mom's new place than the one on Big Beaver. It's comparable to Whole Foods but much, much cheaper! Avocados were $0.88. Michigan cherries were $1.88/#. I believe the sale circular comes in the mail, and there is one day (Wednesday) when the sales overlap. Shop the sales and you'll leave the store with money left in your wallet. read more

Great grocery store! I'm here for the seafood and fish deals, as well as their 5 for 5 peppers.

Like a small wholefoods right in my back yard! The prices are quality is very good compared to other places around town. Like the previous reviewer said, we'll see how the prices go after the store opening is done. Like their produce, their juice bar has great orange juice and other fresh squeezed juices. As I went in for tomatoes and seedless cucumbers; a challenge to find any produce without soft spots! For a place called "Fresh Thyme" they are far from fresh and priced like you should expect only the best! I shop here pretty frequently usually to grab a few items during the week. It's on the way home for me and it's a quick shopping experience. The store isn't too big nor are the lines too long. Their deals on the vegetables and fruits are comparable and are fresh. They have a decent size organic section as well. Their cage free eggs are a decent deal and when on sale, they are Only $2.50 for a dozen! I enjoy their bulk section as they carry anything from grains to candy. Their granola is delicious on top of yogurt! Overall a good grocery store carrying fresh items. read more

This place is great for picking up a few items. They almost always have what I need. We normally shop at Whole Foods, which is further away. Prices are actually comparable, contrary to what others may say. Also just want to add that middle aged women cashiers are always rude. It's usually after I request paper bags after being asked if plastic is okay. Not even "paper or plastic?" I'm not sure why this is such a big deal. Went to Fresh Thyme for the first time in my life today, and I think I've found where I'm going to grocery shop moving forward. First things first, download the app! It's awesome. It shows you exclusive deals just for the app (even some free things) as well as the weekly ads. Secondly, use the weekly ads. This weeks included $1 Blackberries (never seen this) and $1 Avocado's. The feel of the store is responsible shopping in an organic, healthy-conscious setting. I don't want to compare it to Whole Foods because Fresh Thyme has such a more "real" feel about good products at fair prices, where Whole Foods feels like it's all about the money. read more

Fresh Thyme lives up to the name of fresh produce, fresh breads, and fresh dairy! Good food selections, lots of organic choices at reasonable prices. I love that I can get in and out quickly. Not a fan of these giant markets that take an hour walk to find the milk! No thank you but this place makes me feel like it's a local store that is comfortable and welcoming. The cashier service has been great, most everyone has always been friendly with me. I love coming after work because when you have put in a hard day of work and stress it feels good to enter a place with inviting aromas of tasty foods and friendly faces. The organic strawberries this time looked beautiful. Yes fruit can be pretty too. Scared to say too much and see them get too busy. I'm excited to have a new grocery store option around here. Whole Foods is far and, let's face it, not exactly budget friendly. I was happy with the grocery selections here. A lot of stuff we use regularly and the prices seem good. I was expecting more organic produce- the selection is decent, just not as much as I was expecting. I was disappointed the meat counter didn't carry any fresh grass fed or pastured meat. They did have some grass fed meat in the coolers though. I'm interested to see how the prices are once the initial opening sales die down. Overall, I liked it here and can see coming here on a regular basis. read more

Well my second trip here last weekend was as follows: A review of the area chain groceries and competitor specialty markets found that Kroger and one specialty market had better sales on certain items. On almost all regularly priced items you can do better by shopping at the local grocery, health food store or similar like store pertinent to your product. I would stick to ONLY sale items and then compare those against competitors because often they are not the best sale. Also, watch the sales. Cucumbers were on sale and at opening on Sunday they were all out of cucumbers that's a sale item.....very very poor planning. As I stated previously prepare to be underwhelmed....my last review of this store....will not return...too much effort for too little return. INITIAL REVIEW AT OPENING Prepare to be underwhelmed. Aside from the teaser opening prices on certain items, prepare for the traditional chain type produce market with boxed items and brands you can get anywhere else. Nothing sets this apart from area competitors and the regular prices are no better. In my opinion try it for the opening deals then go with the market you love in the area because this won't make you want to drop your go to place if that's what you are expecting. Went here last night (around 8 PM or so) based on a friend's recommendation and I was super disappointed. Prices were a lot higher than Trader Joe's and there were some unique items (Sprecher's soda, YES!) but I don't think I'll go back. It's pretty clear they're going for an anti-GMO-organic-we-write-with-chalk-vibe if you haven't noticed based on photos. Anyways, the main reason I won't be going here again is: CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE! I don't expect to be greeted every time I walk in a store. I literally don't care. But I walked in the store and a worker frantically walked past me, cutting me off. OK. Maybe they're really busy? Worker is walking around looking at items, OK, maybe they're inspecting food dates? I find Sprecher's soda after about fifteen minutes and go to cash out. I have literally one item. The worker (who was apparently looking for a food item for herself) cuts in front of me without even a polite "excuse me" and hands the food item to the cashier who doesn't seem fazed. "THIS COST SEVEN DOLLARS, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!" the worker exclaims, handing the food to be purchased to the cashier. The cashier shakes her head and indicates the price is indeed ridiculous (I concur). I then proceed to hand the cashier my soda and leave. I totally don't mind workers complaining. That is fine and totally human, but complaining about prices in front of customers is a little odd, and the rudeness of the employee who cut in front of us was not OK. The produce the last two weeks has been dry for rotten the deli meats seem to be of the highest quality but I would not recommend this store. Ok, everything is just ok. It feels like a condensed WholeFoods with less curated inventory. They carry many craft foods from small independent companies butt where they lost me was the fresh cafe food. The Sushi was soggy and the fish was very rough looking. The manager let me exchange my sushi box for a new one but it still has the same soggy rice in it. We ended up throwing it away. I also bought soup and carrot juice, both were ok, just ok. On a positive note, the staff seemed like happy people. I don't think I would return unless I was desperate for eggs and just so happened to be driving down Rochester Road. read more

I absolutely love this place. The produce is fresh, and generally LESS expensive than the produce at Meijer. Packaged foods too. I love that they have a soup and salad bar, I'm there at least twice a week to snag lunch - around $10 for a big salad and a small soup is a great price point. I've missed being able to buy in bulk, they have that available there. I'm 100% happy with this store, thanks guys! read more

FTFM is a decent cross between of TJ's and WF, but with that being said, it lacks it's own standout identity. Nothing spectacular about this store. Although I appreciate another player in the game offering organic and natural products, this store will not change my shopping behavior. I'll stick with my regular spots.
