It's an expensive supermarket but it has a wide selection of products, including hard to find items. I always get Van Leeuwen ice cream pints from here! They have a lot of specialty food items (vegan, gluten-free, etc.). There's some produce but I wouldn't recommend getting produce here. I saw that they have a deli and they make sushi as well but I haven't tried their prepared food; will update my review if I try it ! Update 03/05/16: Stopped in to get a quick bite to eat before going to pick up my wife's cousin at the airport. Picked a sampling of the fresh sandwiches and a couple of European specialty products. The sandwiches werw fresh and delicious. The French madeleine cookies we got are the real deal. My wife's cousin really likes them, he says it's great to have a taste of home and is surprised to see that product in the US. We will look to FV for specialty products in future, they are clearly not amateurs when it comes to this type of thing. We love the craft beers too. read more

Edit: As I was picking up sesame oil from Golden Sparkling, I passed the seafood section. I saw mussels and clams and noticed I had purchased $5.99 frozen mussels from this store on 10/11/17 at approximately 4:57pm. I wasn't paying attention to the cashier and bagger. I normally don't have issues with this store. But they changed the cashier. He was shifty when I came in the store. He was stalking me like I was going to steal something. No wonder because it took me about 3 days to realize this guy didn't bag one of my items. The frozen mussels! I didn't realize because I bought so much! $60 worth of groceries and this dude tried to rip me off! I called requesting the item I PAID FOR. They were pretending like they didn't speak good english and didnt understand what I was saying. Till I said... "LOOK AT THE SECURITY TAPES." I'm not the one trying to waste two trips just to get free mussels. I feel extremely violated when I pay $5.99 for vegan cheese that's cheaper at Whole Foods and here they're trying to rip me off! It's past 9pm today when I just put two and two together. It's too late for me to walk 2 miles to go retrieve the item. But tomorrow I'm going. This is such a nuisance. Not the first time that's happened to me - just here it's the first time. Especially since last time I spent $13 buying this elderly man's jam that he said his daughter made. I felt bad because he's elderly and he's trying to help his daughter and make extra money. He had to pay the store to be there. So basically I paid $13 for something I don't need out of the graciousness of my heart and I get ripped off! Horrible karma. This is why I don't shop often. Such a hassle! So many organic non-gmo vegan options in BOTH packaged goods and fresh produce. It's so hard finding vegan but also palm oil free cookies but this place has it. Dairy free ice cream? This place has it! Organic butternut squash, organic corn, leeks which most grocery stores don't carry - THEY DO! This place has an amazing selection of dried goods from pasta to cookies to chips. They even have organic kale basil pasta sauce! Fresh Value Market also carries vegan chocolate - this place is better than most health stores in Manhattan because it's closer to my home. Second they have a lot of GMO-free vegan food options that I only dream about but they carry in store! Like their BBQ jackfruit which I tried and it tastes delicious! Also low in sodium! If you're in Forest Hills/Rego Park, Queens area and looking for something in particular it's probably in Fresh Value. If they don't carry it, they will probably find a way to get it for you. They have AMAZING customer service, and they really go out of their way to make sure every customer is satisfied. The reviews say it's the "Whole Foods" of rego park but honestly it's really just a healthy super market that sells organic and health food products for a good price. This market has a huge selection of various snacks and produce that you would pay a lot for at any other market. They offer a large selection of beer as well from all around the states. The fresh value market also provides some ready to eat food such as quinoa salad, chicken, sandwiches, paninis, and sushi. All the ingredients are fresh and nothing looks unappetizing. For those who like coconut water or konbucha they sell them here at a very good price as well. read more

I LOVE this place. There's no whole foods in rego park/forest hills, but this place is almost as good! The produce I've tried is great, but the real gems are in the prepared foods and frozen sections. The pastas and Asian dumplings are delicious, and great on the go. Plus, many of them are vegan! I don't eat a vegan diet, but as someone who is always trying to eat healthy, there are some great options. The frozen section has three freezers dedicated to ice creams, all of which are brands I don't usually find in my local grocery. Halo top and arctic zero are my favorites but I will be back to try others. They also have a ton of different veggie burgers that I've never seen elsewhere, and some interesting Indian meals that I look forward to trying. My only problem with this place is the whole paycheck price tag. I would not, and do not plan to, buy my staple foods here. If you can find something elsewhere, do. But for those little hidden gems that aren't stocked at your regular grocery store, this place is awesome. read more

This store recently opened, renovated from what once was Hollywood Videos. The renov gave it a fresh look akin to Whole Foods, which is great looking. It is spacious compared to the other 2 stores in the area (Met and Key Food). Although once you look through the store, you would wonder what they're competing against? They have a small selection of produce, which aren't fresh. The green/red/orange pepper were starting to wrinkle and were soft. You're better off getting them at the Korean store up the block for half the price at that stage of "freshness". There is a deli inside, with lots of room inside the fridge for more content, but it isn't filled up yet. It is the same selection as Met. There is a separate shelf of a huge cheese selection near the front of the store, away from the deli though. That is the only thing that stood out for me. The rest of what they are selling looks like they're thrown together randomly. Sure the product they were selling looked great and seems to be good branding, I'm not sure the price is competitive enough for the area to stay as a grocery store. It is a disappointing experience thus far. I will be sure to go back when the place has more mileage because it has potential. read more

I've personally witnessed them switching eggs from cartons that were about to expire and putitng them into cartons with good expiration dates. That in itself should be illegal since you're putting peoples health at risk. Ever since I saw that I never bought eggs there again. Also, their ice cream, no matter what brand it is, always seems as if it was at some point completely melted and then put back in the freezer and frozen again. So it always has a icy freezer burn. And you can't tell from the outside, you only notice it when you take it home to open it. Apprantly they don't stick their ice cream shipments right in the freezer, so they must melt and then later they put it in a freezer. All around just poor practices at this place. Ive also noticed things on the shelf like bread and cold cuts that were way past their expiration date and they don't bother to remove them. I think they need a visit from the health dept. read more

Okay, if you are the type of natural foods shopper who really, truly does not turn up your nose at shopping at a 7-Eleven, or an Aldi, or a bodega; and you've lived in the neighborhood(s) of Rego Park/Forest Hills/Kew Gardens nearly continuously for nearly 3 decades thus far. But you are suddenly a victim of mistaken identity (I've been on a running several-days' streak, recently!) - and thus--out of the blue--not wanted in a certain category killer organic/health foods megamarket; then, this is your place. I've never, ever been treated with any kind of snobbery, suspicion or disdain at Fresh Value. A word about condos in Rego Park? It seems to me, actually, the closer to the projected condo-building action the less prejudiced/parvenu they behave ... So, if you are not spiffily dressed, and look obviously well heeled--this could be a new rule of thumb for me. [Even if only for the fact that management often has their ducks in a row in stores that don't have to "try harder to please new gentry".] A case in point (but in Forest Hills): Note that the Key Food in the same building as that fancy Aston condo; have people working there who are more-than-decent to us regular folks ... However, as with a magnetic field, simple human decency on the part of a store, could be weaker hundreds of yards away ... I don't have to and certainly don't want to romanticize or rehash any scenes from a certain Spike Lee movie to imply anything or to tell you that this goes on even in these liberal, post-3rd-wave-gentrifying neighborhoods. I would provide an update when the time is ripe. I hate to be the on-the-rebound reviewer here on Yelp; and I'm not. Not fond of their lack of costumer service. I was going here at least once a week for either groceries or their deli sandwich deal. They don't greet u when you come in and they don't ever remember my order though I'm there weekly. Today I went and waited my turn to get a sandwich. The guy that usually helps me was making juice which was fine but he didn't even acknowledge me. I stood there for a few minutes and realized he had no desire to help me. I'm sorry but as a pregnant woman on a limited lunch break I need to be in and out of somewhere or at least acknowledged that it will be a while. I will not be returning for their lunch. read more

I recently found this store in Rego Park and was pleasantly surprised. I'm a big fan of Naked Juices and found flavors I never saw before such as Lychee and Citrus Lemongrass and @ $3.49 per bottle, that's $.50 less than Key Food.They have a nice assortment of natural and organic products which are still hard to find in regular supermarkets. Up front they have some fresh made salads and other interesting items such as vegetable torte, and other flavored hummus not found elsewhere. I'd say if you're in the neighborhood to check this place out. I know I'll be going back soon. read more

This is the best little neighborhood grocery in this section of Rego Park. They carry lots of high end specialty items and the customer service is awesome. I once mentioned I liked the dog treats they carried and they said they would restock just for me (and they did!) This place charges a little more than Key Foods or the Met- but it delivers with items that you can't find at those shops. It is not as wide as trader joe or whole food but great option for the few items needed since there is a huge lack of health conscious home goods and grocery so this is an awesome spot. They've got a good selection of some goods, like vegan brownies and other snacks, but they're expensive. Really appreciate that this neighborhood has a dedicated organic, health food store. Prices are a little high, but it's not a standard grocery chain and you get you what you pay for. Interesting variety of organic and natural products - they fit a lot into a small space. During the early days of COVID lockdowns, I was grateful to have a grocery option that had no lines and extended hours (past 6/7pm) to accommodate those still working from home. The fact that Fresh Value carries the best American potato chips, Zapp's, is enough to make me a fan. The 5.5 ounce bags are $2.69 and available in a variety of flavors, including Jalapeno, Voodoo Gumbo, Cajun Dill and the classic Cajun Crawtator. Extra crunchy and kettle style, Zapp's Potato Chips from Louisana are surprisingly difficult to find in NYC. Just make sure to check the sell-by date. read more

If I was able to give zero stars I would! I purchased a pack of 'Herb Roasted Potatoes" on 01/27/18. I always check expiration dates, as I did these, which said 02/04/18. Nothing 'Fresh' about these potatoes. When I got home saw white fuzz in them. I wish I saw while at the store, I would have brought it to their attention then. I plan to bring them back tomorrow (I work near by, do not live). But now I have to waste part of my lunch hour to return the item. UPDATE: Returned the item that had mold with no problem. When I'm busy at work or want to eat something on the lighter side I always come here. The fruit is pretty fresh and the service is good as well. They also carry a good amount flowers just in case you need to pick up some on the way home for your significant other. read more
