This place is really good. Remind me of nyc style takeout. Other Chinese out here aren't too good.

I've been trying to find the best cheap Chinese in the Twin Cities for a while now, so I'm sharing some of my findings and will be reviewing them all! Recently gave Fresh Wok a shot again during Covid. Went with the General Tso's lunch special ($6.25) incredibly hot and spicy. The foot wasn't that spicy at all, but it was evident that the sauce was clearly house made and didn't come right from a bottle. Chicken was lightly breaded (my preference) and pork fried rice was quite standard. The hot and sour soup was very unique, as it was actually a bit sweet and far thicker than most places. It wasn't bad by any means, but lacked the spice that I typically desire in my soup. All in all, it's closer to 3.5 out of 5 (value considered), but they do offer great service and are super quick, which gets the extra half star in my eyes! General Tso's 4/5 Fried rice- 3/5 Hot and sour soup- 3/5 Bang for buck- 4/5

I have been eating here since I lived in the hood 15 years ago and still stop back. The food is fresh, you can see it all cooked, and tasty! Really good prices and menu selection. I like the vegi egg rolls and spring rolls, mock duck with vegetables, lo mein and general tso chicken extra spicy! Call ahead and if they are not busy your food will be cooked fresh and done in 10 min, you can't beat that.

The scallion pancakes were super crispy, the Szechuan dumplings had a LOT of garlic + chili oil (in the best way), and the Shanghai pork buns were juicy and full of flavor. The pork belly was braised perfectly with tasty bok choy, while the farm pork was a classic stir-fry with just the right amount of spice. Everything came with a generous amount of rice too! Definitely a spot I'd come back to with 4+ people so you can order a bunch of dishes, get quick service, and share everything family-style.

Extremely Disappointing -- Save Your Money…read more I honestly don't understand how Tea House gets rated as a top place. From the outside appearance and lack of upkeep to the service and, most importantly, the food, the entire experience was disappointing. The service was odd, the staff didn't seem very familiar with the menu, and there were several misses that made the experience even less enjoyable. The food itself was mediocre at best--and honestly, some of it was just bad. Then came the bill: over $75 plus tip for three people, with two lunch specials and three drinks. For what we received, the price was absolutely ridiculous. For me, this was a hard pass. The food wasn't worth the money, the service wasn't impressive, and the overall experience left a lot to be desired. Don't waste your time, and especially don't waste your money.

I ordered the Stir Fry Spicy Beef, Mapo Tofu, and the Pork Belly. Everything was tasty and have no complaints as far as the actual flavors. I do think that the Mapo Tofu should always be soft tofu rather than firm, but that's just a personal preference. The beef was plentiful and extra tender and the pork belly was perfectly melt-in-your-mouth, so good that I felt like I had to ration it throughout the next few meals. I do wish it came with more rice. I ordered three sides and only got one box of rice. I was hoping to have at least two so I can eat it for several days. However, to end on a positive note, when I walked in to pick up my order, the woman (owner possibly) was incredibly friendly and spoke Mandarin to me. She was welcoming, funny, and we briefly argued how spicy food should really be for it to be enjoyable. "The spicier the better," me thinks. Come show these guys some love!

We grabbed seats at their tiny 4-seat bar, which turned out to be the perfect spot for the evening. The service was fantastic from start to finish with everyone on the staff attentive, warm, and friendly. We went all-in and ordered the Potsticker Feast ($95): two of every kind of potsticker they make, plus all four dipping sauces, Ribeye Noodles, Korean Wings, General Tso's Chicken, and House Cucumbers. The potstickers were awesome but given the name of the place I was surprised that the real standouts were the other dishes. The ribeye was perfectly marinated and tender, tossed with a variety of vegetables and stir-fried noodles. The wings were terrific and the General Tso's was perfect. Don't sleep on the cucumbers either...smoky, spicy, and sweet, with peanuts and sauce. My favorite potstickers were the Beef & Carrots and the Kimchi Pork. If you're looking for scratch-made Asian fusion with great hospitality, Potsticker is hard to beat.

My mouth explodes with flavor. Every time. Hot pot, hot pot. In my gastronomical journey through life, Chinese hot pot is possibly my greatest encounter. And locally, it's Le Pot. Best broth bases - mala spicy, pork bone, and Tom yum are endorsed by me and my girlfriend Great foodstuffs - qual egg, udon noodles, good fatty beef, crab sticks, good old cabbage, tofu, bean curd, enoki mushroom etc - Lamb and pork are alright at this location, could be better Great sauce bar, as I can assemble my staples - Sauce 1: black vinegar, chili oil with flake, garlic oil with garlic, sesame oil, scallions, cilantro (about equal parts and adjust); season with sugar, salt and soy sauce if desired - Sauce 2: lots of sesame paste, and leave as is or maybe add scallions, chili oil, sesame seed **I do wish they had chive paste** - Sauce 3: Oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, cilantro, green onion, black vinegar Value - it's like 30-35 dollars a person here. - I often leave more satisfied here than I do after a "fancy" night on the north loop What's missing - ambiance is okay - I do like a huge communal pot - Chive flower paste - Pork and lamb could be better - Broths are good, but I like the Chicago restaurants best Local hot pot honorable mentions - the place at Asia Mall with the electric rack innovation - Legendary Spice - you are free to grab a tray and raid their fridges/freezers for whatever meat, vegetable, etc you want. But the borth wasn't as good. Overall, it's rather expensive but quality is in some ways lower than Le Pot. - J Pot - Korean bbq and hot pot. The Chinese flavors were not as authentic, broths not as good to me, but wow having Korean bbq and hot pot at the same time! It's a decent value too.
