Instructions that Fresh Direct print but ignore
Peter M.

When a company is delivering fresh food, including frozen food, and cannot follow simple instructions, they should not be offering their service. For 3 consecutive weeks we have asked that the delivery be left with the building doorman and stored in the refrigerator, and every week they leave it outside our door. We have complained and they even have delivery instructions showing the requirement, but apparently this is beyond their competence level. We don't get home until the next day, so food would be ruined. Fortunately alert doormen let us know. Apparently expecting a basic level of service from Fresh Direct is too much to ask.

This is the proof of delivery

After being a customer almost from the beginning, the last 2 weeks have made me a former customer. Last week my order was over 2 hours late with no explanation. This week my order was shown as having been delivered @3:30 complete with a black photo as proof of delivery! Two phones to customer service resulted in my be told that someone would get back to me. When I asked when they had no idea when but I should wait! Fresh Direct is no longer the only game in town. There are not only other services there are less expensive alternatives with just as good quality. It appears that Fresh Direct has reverted to their horrible service during COVID - what's their excuse this time?

I've been a customer since 2008. Have used them in both Brooklyn and Manhattan. Occasionally, there are hiccups, but customer service is usually very efficient in giving you credit back if something is missing or damaged. Their prices are on par for the most part, or better than most grocery stores in Manhattan. Some of their produce leaves a bit to be desired, but I still shop for it here when there are sales. Their real star products for me, are their meal kits and 4-minute meals. They're very tasty and easy to prepare and much less expensive than ordering in. I'm a Chef's Table and Delivery Pass member, so there are often deep discounts and free product trials. I've learned about so many new products, thanks to these benefits. All in all, I do recommend it, especially if you don't have the patience for grocery store visits.

They put their vendors through hell to get the best deal and then it takes months to get them to pay their bills!

They deliver great food every time. If you have not done this yet it will change the way you grocery shop.

I want to share a packaging issue I've had for a while…read more This past weekend I went to the Bryant Park location and noticed that muffins are sold in packs of 2. That made me wonder why this isn't an option at the 125th Street location. We shouldn't have to buy 4 muffins when we only want 1 or 2. Clearly the downtown locations understand this, since many flavors are available as singles or in 2-packs. I know some muffins uptown can be bought one at a time, but a lot of the best flavors can't. Downtown, most flavors were available as singles or in packs of 2. Please give uptown customers the same choices. Thank you.

While Whole Foods can be pricey for what you get, I do like certain deals you can find, particularly those for Prime Members. (Slightly confused though, the "Local" signage above the Gotham Greens set said Providence, Rhode Island... which ain't "Gotham".) This time, grabbed a half loaf of Whole Foods own fresh, flavorful, sliced Rosemary Sourdough Bread - perfect for my comfort food lunch, a tuna fish sandwich! (The tuna salad on rosemary bread is fantastic combo!) Like how the reasonably priced 1/2 loaf selection is right where you enter. Also that the security guard and cashiers wish you to "Have a great day!" It makes this Whole Foods a super customer experience!

Went to Wonder for some small bites with hubby. I opted for Limesalt burrito bowl with chicken,…read morecorn, salsa, beans and rice. Which definitely was delicious and chicken was cooked so tender! And hubby got the cheesesteak sandwich by Fred's, which was also surprisingly delicious! We ended up eating there and did not take out. I liked how clean the place was. The staff was cleaning tables and it was a well kept spot. The food did have to wait a bit long, it was about 10 mins for our food. But it was ok as I was made aware when I placed the order of when to expect it. The food was ready within the expected timeframe. Overall will go again !

Tried this location of Wonder today with a friend after having eaten over a dozen times at one of…read moretheir other locations. A generally positive experience and would come by again if I wanted something decently tasty and a slight step up in number of options compared to places like Dig Inn, Cava, Naya and Sweetgreen to eat in the neighborhood. This is a ghost kitchen with a variety of "restaurant names" and cuisines to choose from, and they have dozens of locations popping up in the NY metro area, marketing themselves as "a new kind of food hall." Order online, via their app or in person at a kiosk and food takes about 10-30 minutes to be ready depending on the time of day. Food is made to order and ingredients are fresh. Walking into this location kiosks and single non-gender restroom are to the back left, pickup shelves and counter to the back right, and about a dozen seats to the immediate right. We went with a couple of my tried and true options here: - chicken souvlaki and avocado open face pits sandwich from Yasas $14.20: comes with grilled chicken chunks, tomatoes, cucumbers, red pepper, feta, avocado, romaine, hummus, eggplant spread, and crispy shallots, on a warm fluffy pita. Kinda like a Mediterranean flatbread covered with lots of toppings. Tasty lunch fare. - build-your-own salad from Royal Greens $9.95+marinated tofu $2.50: choose your own lettuce and/grains mix, I chose kale and quinoa, add up to six toppings (I chose edamame, beets, pickled onions, cherry tomatoes, herbed broccoli, roasted sweet potatoes), two crunch toppings (I chose only croutons this time and seems like somehow they were missed), a mini pita (if it's early enough--sometimes they run out), with a choice of dressing (charred scallion is one of my favorites here). - for drinks ordered a Diet Coke $2.50 no description needed and Poppi root beer $3.50 which is a soda with less sugar than normal (5g versus 20g+). Generally speaking since there are many cuisines coming out of the same kitchen, feels like there are items used across recipes where some dishes may have ingredients and flavors that work better with other dishes. For example I've tried poke once from Hanu Poke and it tasted kinda like a salad from Royal Greens with chunks of not-quite-made-for-poke-cuts of salmon added. And the beef burrito from Limesalt tasted like it used similar ingredients as used in the beef souvlaki sandwich. To be fair the items that are unique I've tried so far are decent quality and delicious.
