The sauce that came with the wrap was SO GOOD I need it bottled and sold to me so I can have it with everything. The salad was solid and the salmon was seasoned and cooked well. Fresh fin has wonderful Poke. Surprisingly fresh and I love how many options there are to choose from and customizable bowls. I thought the inside was really clean and had lots of seating options. It's a solid spot for poke in Madison. It's not the best fish you'll ever have nor the cheapest/most expensive. It's clean on the inside and clearly catering to the Madison locals as the menu options for their usual bowls aren't that authentic, but it works. If I'm craving poke it's a spot I would go to but also be prepared to spend at least 15-20 bucks at for a single bowl that is actually filling. read more

Nice indoor seating that's well-lit and spacious, comfy and fuss free. Self-serve disposable utensil counter with fountain lemonade/drinks, soy sauce, etc. Nice pastel decor feels very coastal. Staff is always so smiley, attentive and happy to serve. You can also see into the open kitchen that is clearly so clean and well managed. I usually go for the build your own with salmon, and do appreciate the option of sweet potato in the toppings! No other spot in Madison has that, so it's always nice to have. Another fav here is the cilantro chicken bowl, so healthy, full of ginger and greens, and very fresh. Though not my fav poke fix in Madison, a great option in the Hilldale area. Who said salads have to be boring? I recently tried @freshfinpoke with a friend for lunch and it was a game-changer! I ordered the new Sesame Chopped Salad with mixed greens, shredded kale, purple cabbage, carrot, cucumber, edamame, red onion, cilantro, creamy ponzu, sesame ginger vinaigrette, crushed wonton chips, almonds, scallions, sesame seeds, I added roasted chicken and avocado for protein. The salad was incredibly fresh and made to order. I especially loved the crushed wonton chips--they added the perfect crunch! Located right in Hillsdale Mall. Fast food style ordering. They have some seating inside and a few outside tables as well. It is definitely a fish place. It smells a little fishy when you walk in. I loved the decor. Cool lights and fish shapes hanging from the ceiling. The place seemed clean and well kept. My husband and I were looking for just a light lunch so we split the curry coconut with shrimp. It was good. Fresh with great flavor. We would definitely come back again. read more

After living in Hawaii for five months and having poke almost every day, I can truly say that FreshFin's quality is top-notch! I'm amazed every time I order a bowl just how fresh every single one of the ingredients are. Their menu combinations are almost endless with the build your own bowl option, and you can go half and half on the base ingredients to mix it up even more. I usually do that on a regular sized spicy tuna bowl, and it is easily enough for two people or two servings. They even have chicken as an option if fresh fish isn't your thing. I also love the numerous beverage options as well as the location in Hilldale with plenty of parking. Lastly the service has always been amazing and the decor is extremely clean and cute, plus the huge windows with all of the natural light is a big plus. They also have a rewards program and every time you use earned credits for a bowl FreshFin donates a meal to Feeding America! It's so nice to see a company actually giving back. Can we rate this a zero? I've worked at Hilldale and l ate here alot and LOVED it. A year later? What happened? The restaurant tables were ALL dirty with sauce crumbs and food including CHAIRS! Food let's talk about how it was prepared and served. We were served in plastic bowls that were COATED in what the staff member called sauce after washes. That is a hygiene issue and disgusting how you looked at all the bowls to say they all look like this. And I wiped the bowl to show her it was coming off. It wasn't wet sauce. Its CAKED. THAT this employeee was confused why it matters that the bowl was dirty. Only offering to TRANSFER THE FOOD TO ANOTHER BOWL. THE FOOD IS CONTAMINATED! The other employee with a bonnet on was annoyed as I hear her mumbling to either take the food OR LEAVE IT. And a third who looked at the bowl and offered to remake it FOR ANOTHER but by employee 2 with the bonnet who wants to serve us a bowl full of bacteria. So I sit up front to lowkey keep an eye out because it seemed that employee 2 might be a dirty person. Turns out it's TRUE. The entire time she's making the food she's giving DIRTY looks. mumbling to herself about it. And the good comes out twice as fast as it first did. Now im confused. Did you remake the food? Probably not. If you did, you skipped out on COOKING ANYTHING. The rice, veggies, carrots, chicken and tofu were ICE COLD. There were OTHER INGREDIENTS in our bowl too. And in one spoonful it tasted like it was tasted in sauce after defrosting and god knows what use nasty employee 2 with the pink bonnet may have done. We tossed it. I've worked at Hillsdale in the past. I've eaten here in the past. And I LOVED IT. So why did these nasty employees find it acceptable to be serving undercooked food in BACTERIA SMEARED BOWLS!?!? read more

Great restaurant addition to Hilldale! If only my husband would be open to giving it a try. I popped in to check it out around lunch time on a Sunday. Since it is a new restaurant, the learning curve for ordering is quite large. Since I wanted something quick, I ordered two appetizer dishes to go: Truffle Crab Salad and Cucumber Salad. Nice location and friendly service. However, for the price, I thought the flavors, quality-control, and value was subpar. The bowl looks like a heft portion until you realize it's 70% rice. They were a bit skimpy with the sauces and toppings which made it taste bland. But worst of all, I found a pebble in my bowl. FreshFin makes some really yummy poke bowls! The ingredients are fresh and delicious, and the portions are very good. I'm a 6'2 guy, but the regular bowl is always enough to satisfy me, and it includes lots of protein! My favorite bowl is the spicy tuna. Walked in to someone leaving at same time disgusted not knowing why. I was next in line and left after 20-25 minutes of waiting to place order. It appeared the single cashier was lining up a stack of old receipts to enter to get somebody points for a free meal maybe a delivery driver of some sort given the volume. This was during the 6 pm dinner rush today with a line out the door when I left with no end near to the situation. Never gave any attention to the individuals in the growing line to what was going on. Really needed to give some attention any attention to the potential customers who were going to actually pay for their meals. Won't be back. read more
