For over $20 you would think a sandwich from here would fill your stomach and fulfill your dreams. But unfortunately I found myself severely disappointed. The avocado griller sounds fantastic in theory -- yet unfortunately I was rewarded with very little avocado actually present. For around $24 I received 3 thin slices of measly avocado on a field of onion. Perhaps a name change to the "onion griller" should be in order? I understand managing costs in an expensive town such as this, and that avocado would have to be the most expensive part of this menu item -- and therefore we may try to skirt corners where we can. However, considering you can get an avocado for around $1 I think I could've been provided with at least a few more slices. UPDATE! I called and spoke to a manager. Julie was lovely. I received a full refund. The customer service more than made up for the lack of avocado. read more

Maaaaaam this place is soo good! Our first time in steamboat and stumbled upon this place for lunch. The Reuben was insane! But there were so many interesting items on their menu. House made pickles? Incredible! My water was constantly being refilled which was just what I needed after a long flight. If I have one criticism it's that my bill showed up and I wasn't even halfway through my meal. I don't really dig that, especially since I wanted to try one of their peanut butter cookies. Ultimately I did just that and I found myself apologizing to the server for needing a new bill. Why am I apologizing? I guess I felt bad, but all of this could have been avoided in the first place had they let me finish my meal and then asked me if I wanted anything else. But, be that as it may this place is outstanding and if you're in steamboat give it a shot! read more

Still a fantastic breakfast. Freshies is one of the meals that I most look forward to when I'm in Steamboat. This time I ordered a coffee, French toast with strawberries and real maple syrup. The portions are large and I'm rarely able to finish my breakfast but it's always cooked perfectly and tastes like a warm hug. The staff is always friendly and attentive and it's just such a cozy, warm, and welcoming way to start the day. read more

We had an enjoyable breakfast. Plenty of seating indoors with a nice outdoor patio area if you prefer fresh air. We both had the three deuces breakfast with 2 pancakes, 2 eggs and 2 slices of bacon. The butter used on the pancakes was a honey butter and was delicious. read more

I was excited to eat here but when we walked in a blonde girl was not the nicest. We stayed and got a server that was different and she was a breathe of fresh air and sooooo nice! Horrible service! We waited 30 minutes for our food. When I asked our server when our food would arrive she said that "It's Sunday and we're busy." Very defensive with absolutely no concern for the customer. When I ordered tea and didn't recognize the brand, she raised her voice to me. If Freshies can't accommodate the customer volume, then they shouldn't seat everyone. Making customers wait 30 minutes for food that's served by snappy servers isn't the way to run a business. I'm always down to support local businesses. Growing up as a daughter of restauranteurs, I know how hard these folks work. That's why it saddens me to leave this honest review. We were greeted enthusiastically by the hostess which was promising. The ambiance was cozy enough. The server was equally lovely and attentive. So my beef is not with the service. With a name like Freshies, you'd expect a nice variety of veggies and I was stoked to try the Brussels sprout, mixed greens, and kale salad. The prices were kinda shocking. $17.99 for a salad and if you want protein, it's another $6-8 bucks! But I figured it would be a substantial portion. I opted for the 1/2 soup 1/2 salad for the same price as a warm cup of soup after a day of riding pow sounded pretty good. Imagine my disbelief when the meal arrived and the cup was literally a 4 oz portion with greens covering up the rest of the plate, not exactly 1/2 and 1/2 or a cup (8oz). I raked over the greens looking for one brussel sprout but just couldn't see anything resembling a sprout. When I asked the server, she informed me that it was shaved really thin. Why put it as the first ingredient when it's practically non existent? I was so disappointed in my meal. It just was overpriced and underwhelming. My companion's turkey blt was not much better. For $18, it didn't even come with fries but cheap chips. I realize I came here after a surprisingly great experience at another local fave (see my review for the Back Door Grill), and expected the same wonderful experience and bang for my buck. Came in for brunch and they were very busy. Thankfully you can join the list ahead of time which helped. We got a cinnamon roll to share and it was delicious! I tried a breakfast burrito with potatoes and veggie green chile. It was full of flavor and the potatoes are crispy and so flavorful! Everyone really enjoyed their food. It seems like you can't go wrong with any of their dishes. Definitely recommend checking them out for breakfast/brunch but be prepared to wait a while. We very much enjoyed our breakfast here. They were very busy, but the service was good and our server very friendly. My family all shared a cinnamon roll just to try it based on the reviews and it was fabulous. There are several comments about the prices (you can see the menu and prices online, I think.) The prices were very much in line with all of the restaurants in town (every place was on the high side in my opinion.) BUT it is a lot of food! My daughters and I were only able to eat about half of our pancakes and took the rest with us. We know that when we go back we will easily be able to share meals. Wait staff wasn't great. Our waitress was cold, told me they don't have salsa, and I asked the one who dropped our food off and she immediately brought me some. The prices are insane for what you get... Everything starts at 20$ and you get the bare minimum. Not even French fries. My breakfast didn't even come with breakfast potatoes, it's an up charge. My husband got a burger for 20$, and had to pay 4$ to add French fries.... It's a diner, how does food not come with French fries. Crazy prices, not great food, not great service. Lunch with a cousin I hadn't seen in over a decade We were rolling through town on another roadtrip and took the opportunity to meet up with a cousin and her husband I hadn't seen in over a decade. Her son, who lives in town, suggested Freshies. It lives up to its name - tasted like fresh ingredients - I had a salad, the others in the party all had different items and all were pleased with the quality. Service was super friendly - actually hung out at the table chatting (almost too much). We would have liked to have stayed longer but had to make time down the road in order to reach Vernal, UT that evening. World's worst $27 breakfast burrito (even paid extra for pork green chile & bacon). They ran out of potatoes that it should come with, and wanted to charge another $3 to "upgrade" from chips to french fries. Zero F's given type attitude from server. Against my better judgement, I went ahead with the breakfast burrito, which was not great...pretty bland. Rubbery pork was in the bland green chile. Nobody at the table was very impressed with the food. My vanilla latte tasted like nothing and the same can be said for my french toast. $20... for what? soggy tasteless bread? and the maple syrup was FOUR DOLLARS EXTRA. We started off with the cinnamon roll which was the best part. We also waited an hour for our food and other tables that were seated around us got their food way before us.
