Saffron - A Taste Of The Exotic If we were to judge a book…read moreby its cover we would never stop here but we went based on reviews. Happy we did! Very understated! We have been a week in Port Elgin, trying all the restaurants and this one was clearly the best by far! After a day of navigating the challenging wet weather, we enjoyed a surprisingly wonderful time with amazingly diverse fusion cuisine; 3 main dishes between the 2 of us: Malaysian beef, eggplant, and potato curry $26 West African Peanut Stew $16 on the menu. Thai Green Coconut Curry $15 on the menu. We also ordered hand made naan! The meals were outstanding and extremely good value. Last but not least we had to try one of 2 dessert options despite how over full we felt...the beavertail-like pastry with homemade blueberry topping with fresh cream. Was the yummiest. A must have again! We would highly recommend Saffron - A Taste Of The Exotic. We are returning again before going home. Jenn, one of the owners, was very welcoming and attentive. She exemplifies passion in her work!

Saffron immediately came up as a 5 star establishment highly recommended by other food bloggers. We found out quickly that it is essential to call ahead for a reservation, as Saffron serves many in takeout and not as many in house. To our luck, we were able to make an immediate reservation. Jen, the owner, was extremely friendly and had lots of great energy as she served us. The appetizer special we ordered was a stuffed naan, filled with shredded spiced chicken, lentils, dates, and caramelized onions. It was served with a garlic sauce that was just as incredible as the stuffed naan itself! For dinner I ordered the Shahi Paneer (they make their own paneer in house!) The paneer was delicious and served with some amazing fresh naan. My mother got the brisket special. I tried a bite and it was one of the most flavourful dishes I have tried! My father tried the Cuban pulled pork wrap which was good as well. We dined on their shaded back patio, which was the most calm and serene place for a satisfying meal.

First, we really like the owner and her staff. Warm, friendly and helpful group of women who seem to love what they do and enjoy interacting with people. We had a breakfast and lunch, finding it difficult to make final selections because everything looked and smelled so good. Their egg bagel sandwiches were the perfect blend of crunchy, savory and filling. We also had the grilled cheese and the tuna melt paninis. So filling and satisfying. So glad we decided to add smoothies after a morning of birding. We were really hungry and they were both really pretty, nutritious and yummy. My husband had the Berry-protein smoothie and I had the green foods smoothie. Everything we expected. On each visit, we also leave with some fresh baked treats. TruFoods has a nice selection of healthy treats and treats tailored for special diets like gluten free or vegetarian. There is ample sitting room with lots of nice art and local merchandise to explore. We brought our reading material and relaxed for an hour. Guests were steady but the cafe was never too busy. Kids and seniors alike would feel right at home. The cafe sits alone on the highway between Lions Head and Tobermory. It is worth the trip.

The ingredients were simple but fresh and tasty. You also get to choose from several kinds of bread which I think is from Cobs. The avocado toast was less special but still solid. Inside, one may order food and buy some knick knacks that are bohemian chic. There is also a clean washroom for one to use. I ordered a super bowl which was $17. The size was great, but I felt it lack some flavour and half the bowl was filled with quinoa. Not a big fan of it, I would have liked less quinoa. My partner had a veggie burger and he liked it. There was a spice kick to it. He wished it came with a side instead of paying additional for it. The following morning we returned to try their açai bowl for breakfast and it was delicious!! Frozen blueberries were provided instead of fresh berries. They could have used seasonal fruits. The crisp coconut pieces added a crunch to each bite. This dish, I would order again. They have a reward system if you sign up. Overall, a nice healthy place to stop by while one is up North enjoying some sports or a little get-away.
