Where to start, stingy on salt and pepper. More vegetables in our burritos than meat. The Steak Ranchero and eggs; the steak was thin! Shaved meat thin with no flavor or seasoning. Wasn't sure on the salsa; One was dated Wednesday April 1 (we were there on the 7th) the other was not dated at all.did a small taste test and chose safest route and it didn't use it. Super great food, super friendly peeps running the place, the atmosphere is so great as many times as I've been there, I always see something new! Anyway, its right next door to the Arizona Inn, another place you may want to check out, if you're traveling through. Another family run small business, no frills but the price is right, friendly people running the joint, and always ALWAYS immaculate. RE: Frey's in Kingman, AZ: The food is totally subpar. This is not Mexican food. Guacamole isn't runny or watery. It's supposed to be chunky with tomato and onion in it that you can see, along with big chunks of avocado. The "carnitas" was fatty, dried out and had zero flavor and the corn tortillas they served the taco meat in were cold. The service was out of the world - fast and friendly! As for the building, it's old and dirty. Old is okay - dirty is not okay. We won't be eating there again. Don't waste your time or money. read more

There are 2 locations in Kingman, one downtown on Beale St., and one on Northern. Downtown is the way to go. The food portions served at the Northern location are meager in comparison to the other. I only ever go to the Northern location if I can't be bothered to drive downtown, every time it is a disappointment. read more

The food ... well that's where the 3* comes in. Their idea of "carnitas" is ah ... unique. More like Pepper Steak Pork, emphasis on the pepper. One of our first tasks, once arriving in Kingman, was to locate some good Mexican food. We tried several places, and we were very disappointed. None of the places had food that I would call great. When we came to Beale Federico's, we were pleasantly surprised. Very comfortable atmosphere. Friendly staff and a clean restaurant. When our food was ready, I was finally happy to have found authentic Mexican food in Kingman that is amazing. The prices are a little high, but the quality is worth it. Have come in several different times to try tacos, rellenos, and enchiladas. The asada and carnitas tacos were loaded, two are plenty for a meal, and very good. The rellenos were well balanced, lightly breaded, and not overly sauced, in other words, delicious. The enchiladas were OK. Rice and beans were average and improved by the red and green sauces. Service is completely dependent on the crowd -- more people means it takes a little longer for the food. It can be a little disorganized at times, but the staff always tries to make it better. I have to go back to try the machaca platter that looked terrific, and a couple other platters as well. Recommend you start with the tacos. read more

Talk about horrible. I've given this place three tries now. More than the benefit of the doubt. The first time this lady charged me for things I didn't even order, I got my receipt, looked at snd said something. She refunded me cash. Okay they made it right. Second time same thing, little things here and there "extra cheese" I didn't ask for that. The burrito already comes with cheese. Anywho, my husband and I went in yesterday morning. Thought we'd go here because we didn't want to go across town to the other one we never have any issues with. same thing, charged for extra cheese on both burritos even though we didn't ask for that. Charged for sour cream, even though that burrito comes with it. So we get home, didn't say anything because I'm over it with these people. But we get home and our burritos are burnt, and I mean burnt!!! The meat is crispy. I got a carne asada burrito, and the meat is literally crispy. They have lost my business for good. Three strikes your out. Take the time to drive to the one by the new Safeway because it is ten times better! I have never had a bad experience there yet!! Food was decent, but the girl at the counter did not even know the menu. I don't eat beef, so I ordered a California burrito with carnitas instead of carne asada. The girl didn't know what I meant. After I explained it, she said no problem. The problem on my side is that no one told me it would be an extra $4.00 to switch the carne asada to carnitas. This place is underrated. It is a fantastic Mexican comfort restaurant that is an easy walk from the Tesla superchargers. Ambiance: it'a straight up a neighborhood Mexican restaurant but with a old school diner decorations and booths. Bathroom was clean, staff was constantly cleaning when they were between tasks. Yes, it is old and dated and some of the seats were worn out and tables were peeling, but look beyond that! Food: Everything is made to order so expect a wait. This is not Taco Bell. Portions for their barbacoa burrito and red chicken quesadilla was phenomenal! I had their tacos on another visit and they do not disappoint. Food is served piping HOT as it should be. Their home made green and salsa was so good, I literally drank it between bites like a shot. Driving through Kingman, staying at the motel next door. There were several cars in the lot and people were carrying out food, so we thought we would check it out. This was possibly the worst taco plate I've ever had. The rice was crunchy and globular. The beans. Were they beans? They were gray and tasted like what I expect wall paste to taste like. With some cheddar cheese (!) on top. The shredded chicken didn't taste bad, actually, but the "soft" taco was still crunchy, and consisted of shredded chicken, more cheddar cheese, and some shredded lettuce. Who taught these people to make tacos?! Also, I'm not real prudish about language, but if I was the owner I wouldn't want my customers to hear loud f-bomb laden language from the kitchen. One of Kingman's best kept secrets, the food is authentic and made to order. Because it's made to order, sometimes the ingredients can make the larger items seem cold (not the meats, beans, rice, etc, but things like the fresh lettuce, tomato, sour cream, etc). Call ahead if you're in a hurry or have a large and/or special order. Absolutely one of my favorite Mexican restaurants.
