would rate a zero if we could. Went here because we were camping at OSH. prices are extreme AND the food is absolutely awful. Ordered prime rib sandwich. Thought it had cheese but NOPE, this was the entire piece and it was ALL fat. Inedible. French onion soup was cold and had bitter pieces of weird bread in it. Brought all our items 10 mins apart. Cheeseburger was so greasy that the bun basically dissolved. It was terrible. Everything is a la carte so expect to pay exorbitant prices and get basically no food. Beer served in small plastic disposable cups but charged $10. Service terrible, food inedible. Will NEVER return. Next year we would be smarter to eat gas station roller dogs than to waste $100 on this crap. Disgusting. read more

Stopped in Friday for dinner and the staff was friendly and the service was excellent. I got a burger and fries and the burger was delicious and the roll it was on was the best I've had in a long time. Would definitely go back when I'm in the area again. read more

The restaurant is fun with the name, theme, and decor. It took a half a minute or so for someone to speak to us upon entering and there were a few servers walking by but no one welcomed us. Thankfully that did not take away from the food or they would have received three stars. Hubby ordered a patty melt on rye and asked for the burger to be cooked medium rare. He also ordered fries. As you can see from the pictures, they cooked it exactly how he asked and he said it had a good flavor. I ordered the half sandwich and soup combo. I asked for the chicken sandwich on sourdough and French onion soup. The chicken left much to be desired as it's probably frozen and not fresh battered but the soup made up for it. What flavor the soup has! The only thing it was missing was more croutons...my favorite part, especially after it soaked up all the savory goodness from the broth. All meals are served with a few fresh veggies and dill dip...the dip is so good! Our server took very good care of us. Restrooms were clean. Friar Tucks is a staple of Oshkosh. It's been here longer than me. When I got introduced to it I knew I'd be coming back. My review will focus on this visit. The food was good. I ordered a French onion soup and a medium-rare burger with some changes to what came on it. It came out missing the bbq sauce. I inquired and the bartender said she had forgotten to grab it, problem solved. When I cut in to the burger it was a little more rare then I was expecting. But it was still good. Props to the cooks!! The service was a little slow at times and it wasn't that busy when I happened to be there. The staff was standing around talking to a "local" mostly which I think made them not as attentive. Easily fixable just don't indulge the rather loud "local" customer. Service is the reason it's not 5 stars. Food quality, taste, and timing are all reasons for the 4+ stars. read more

We have not been to Friartuck for quite a while due to the food quality when we were there last time so we thought we would go back and see if it improved. Sorry to say I wasn't better. My daughter ordered chicken strips and they were cold. I also ordered potato poppers, they were also cold. Our waitress was just OK. She only checked on us one time and it was towards the end of our meal to ask if we were ready for the check,. Therefore, we did not send our food back. We just brought it home with a thought of, we will throw it in the air fryer and finish cooking it when we get home. We probably will not go back again read more

This place is a trip back to the early to mid 70s. Decor was vintage. Almost wanted to get out my Bicentennial gear. Everything here is amazing - drinks, food & service. I was served and under cooked burger, see the picture. Slightly afraid I might get sick. And I had ordered well done. This is first time I've been to the Oshkosh Friar Tucks but I've been to the one in Fond Du Lac many times. My dad and I meet there about once a month as Fond Du Lac is about half way from Green Bay (Dad) and Madison (me). If this review was for the FDL location I'd give it five stars. Reasonably good food with HUGE portions for a great price. Good service as well. But unfortunately today Dad and I wanted to se a movie so we met in Oshkosh. Server wasn't friendly but not rude. She never check back on us though otherwise I would have asked them to refire my burger. If you've ever been to a Friar Tucks you'll know it very dark so at first I didn't catch how under done my "well done" was for the first few bites. The consistency though was that of raw beef. then I sliced it open and it was bright pink almost the whole way through. So not a happy customer here and really hope I do t get sick. read more

If you like a Wisconsin Supper Club experience, but with a sandwich and burger menu, this place is for you!! It's local, cozy, and quaint, old-school in the best of ways and rarely disappoints. I came here in my high school and college years because it was delicious and reasonably priced. I come back to Oshkosh annually for an event and eat here at least once. They have regular service by regular people serving regular, delicious food, no fakey fake attitudes, no overpriced crap. It's the real deal and I'll come here every time. Search Yelp for ideas where to eat a late evening in Oshkosh and found Friar Tuck's near our hotel. They featured French onion, soup and chicken wings on their menu and many of the yelp users raved about both those items. They were right! We also had a turkey club which was humongous. We were there on a Saturday night they were busy . We ordered appetizers and asked they be brought out before our dinner . The waitress brought everything out at once stating that for some unknown reason they made the entrees first and than the appetizers. That would explain why my hamburger was cold . Friar Tuck's is a staple of the EAA crowd. Being right outside the pedestrian gate, it gets very busy the week of the air show. The menu is basic - sandwiches and bar food appetizers. It doesn't promise to be stellar and it delivers. The food is good quality and there are many different types of sandwiches so you can be pretty sure of finding something you like. I've been going to Friar Tucks since I was a kid. I've always enjoyed the food and the way the place was set up. The lighting could make for a little more of a romantic date? I always get a cheeseburger and fries and mozzarella sticks for an appetizer, it's always yummy. My grandma passed this summer and it was always a place we would go together. Friar Tuck's is the type of place I WANTED them to take me to! The menu here is simple comfort food. Classic fare like beef sandwiches, meatloaf, and several options covered in gravy. They're not blazing any new culinary trails here, but I don't want them to. This place is lost in the 70's and should stay there. Love the dark panelling, the roller chairs, and the long bar. The kicker for me is the waitress uniforms. Gotta love the short length monk robes complete with a rope belt. Not very authentic, but a great way to harken back to a different time where the restaurant "theme" was typically reflected in the waitstaff's uniforms. A very popular place during the 2019 AirVenture...because there was a pedestrian gate right by this restaurant. Dined here twice and experience and a waiting list both times. Big parking lot to match the big, long bar inside. There was nothing special about the atmosphere inside. On my two visits, our service was not bad considering how busy it was. My orders (1/2 sandwich [the Little John] and salad...bacon cheeseburger) were adequate, but nothing to rave about. Now my buddy really likes their french onion soup and got it on both visits. This is a Pepsi place...sorry Coke fans). Prices were a little high. So just a run of the mill restaurant for me. No objections to eating or drinking here again. read more

I am extremely frustrated with that management now. Dan "the old manager" was always professional. Tonight however as my wife and I were looking over the menu preparing to order our food at the bar, the manager came up and loudly announced that someone had thrown up all over the dining room. Not only was not a single employee concerned about the customers wellbeing but the manager was more concerned about "how much business it was going to cost". I would like to point out that additional business was lost based on the comments. Had it not been loudly announced, we would have been none the wiser and would have stayed longer than the ten minutes we were there. In addition to it being completely unprofessional, it's also very disheartening that the first response is to talk bad about the person who just became sick in the establishment before actually finding out what happened. You have no idea what is going on in a persons life, and the situations is probably very embarrassing already. To top it all off, this is the 2nd time this has happened. I dismissed the first time as a learning experience, but now it's happened again. Bartending staff is great but management needs an upgrade. update!!! My wife and I had menus in our hand when it was announced at "the bar" where we were sitting that someone puked "all over" the dining room. I don't know about you but that kind of ruins the appetite. Also, I'm not the only customer who left. The fact that you are now coming at a customer and protecting manger rather than ensuring customer satisfaction is amazing. This further proves that this business is questionable at best and after 10 years or more of going to this establishment, you will not have any more of my business. Friar Tucks is kind of lost in time, in a mostly good way. It seems to be the place of choice during the EAA AirVenture and then reverts to a townie bar during the rest of the year. The interior is dark and vaguely monastic themed - some wrought iron sconces, wood doors and waitress "monk" get ups that manage to be slightly skanky and unflattering all at once. That said, if you're in the area there isn't much else other than chain restaurants so that makes FT's a good stop. I didn't eat anything here, just stopped for some post Hops & Props drinks (as if I really needed that...). For me, FT fulfilled the two most important criteria - the bartender was friendly and attentive and the drinks were cheap. First you should note that the sandwiches are HUGE, so unless you haven't eaten in a few days, ordering a side will leave you with more than enough food. The cheesy sampler appetizer is great. We stopped here on December 27, 2018. We were checking into the Hawthorn hotel and decided to grab a bite , it was 9pm and they closed at 10. The server was very friendly , menu was smaller but not your usual foods . We enjoyed it a lot . My husband got the French onion soup which he said was delicious and I got the chili which was also very good . For our main meal my husband got the turkey / roast beef comb sandwich on marble rye and he enjoyed it . I had ordered the prime rib sandwich on the roll , very good !! The portion sizes were just enough for a late night meal . It looks like a family owned restaurant with regulars in there . They have a full service bar also with TVs that had college football on . This review is for Friar Tuck's restaurant and bar proper, not an EAA flyover. Friar Tuck's is old school. Dark wood paneling lines the walls, the waitresses wear unattractive friar robes, and the food is that old school soup and sandwiches, and it's awesome! Went here with my band as we drove in to play a show in Oshkosh, and we all loved it. I had a great burger, and enjoyed the hot onion slice poppers. The French Onion soup drew raves, as did my bandmates sandwiches. Burgers, soups, sandwiches, pretty good service, for a fair price. Old school dining at its best! And if you're just in the mood to kick it at the bar, there are plenty of TVs showing the game- it looked inviting. I'll definitely be back to Friar Tuck's. read more
