The restaurant is fun with the name, theme, and decor. It took a half a minute or so for someone to speak to us upon entering and there were a few servers walking by but no one welcomed us. Thankfully that did not take away from the food or they would have received three stars. Hubby ordered a patty melt on rye and asked for the burger to be cooked medium rare. He also ordered fries. As you can see from the pictures, they cooked it exactly how he asked and he said it had a good flavor. I ordered the half sandwich and soup combo. I asked for the chicken sandwich on sourdough and French onion soup. The chicken left much to be desired as it's probably frozen and not fresh battered but the soup made up for it. What flavor the soup has! The only thing it was missing was more croutons...my favorite part, especially after it soaked up all the savory goodness from the broth. All meals are served with a few fresh veggies and dill dip...the dip is so good! Our server took very good care of us. Restrooms were clean. I'll definitely return and try the Reuben sandwich next time.

    Small bar area.

Food and services were great. The ambience is somewhat dark with a medieval timeframe decor. Prices are moderate, food servings are plentiful. Everything was served Hot with a nice presentation. Food was very tasty. Here in the area, I would highly recommend trying it.

Friar Tucks is a staple of Oshkosh. It's been here longer than me. When I got introduced to it I knew I'd be coming back. My review will focus on this visit. The food was good. I ordered a French onion soup and a medium-rare burger with some changes to what came on it. It came out missing the bbq sauce. I inquired and the bartender said she had forgotten to grab it, problem solved. When I cut in to the burger it was a little more rare then I was expecting. But it was still good. Props to the cooks!! The service was a little slow at times and it wasn't that busy when I happened to be there. The staff was standing around talking to a "local" mostly which I think made them not as attentive. Easily fixable just don't indulge the rather loud "local" customer. Service is the reason it's not 5 stars. Food quality, taste, and timing are all reasons for the 4+ stars.

Food was amazing, bread was homemade and fresh. atmosphere was so cute and love the theme. Server was helpful and very observant

    Friar Tucks "well done burger".

I was served and under cooked burger, see the picture. Slightly afraid I might get sick. And I had ordered well done. This is first time I've been to the Oshkosh Friar Tucks but I've been to the one in Fond Du Lac many times. My dad and I meet there about once a month as Fond Du Lac is about half way from Green Bay (Dad) and Madison (me). If this review was for the FDL location I'd give it five stars. Reasonably good food with HUGE portions for a great price. Good service as well. But unfortunately today Dad and I wanted to se a movie so we met in Oshkosh. Server wasn't friendly but not rude. She never check back on us though otherwise I would have asked them to refire my burger. If you've ever been to a Friar Tucks you'll know it very dark so at first I didn't catch how under done my "well done" was for the first few bites. The consistency though was that of raw beef. then I sliced it open and it was bright pink almost the whole way through. So not a happy customer here and really hope I do t get sick.

Great food and service. We both had a sandwich with a side. No complaints. Definitely will return when we are in the area again.

The overall experience is pretty good, but I don't think I would consider anything exceptional. The…read moreservice was very friendly. A few things to note, their cocktail menu is amusing because their specialty drinks mostly seem to be five different standard recipes with slightly different preparations to turn them into Mojitos or spritzes or margaritas. Do you want something with blueberries? Pick your preparation. All of them are too sweet. Their peanut butter crème brûlée was tasty, but doesn't really qualify as a crème brûlée. It was basically a runny, peanut butter flavored almost pudding. Their pizzas were really good though. Frankly, I was most surprised by the ambience. For a place that looks so big from the outside. It seemed really cramped inside I walked around all of the seating areas and it was the same everywhere. While they bill themselves as being on the water, you really can't see the water from any seat in the house from what I observed, even if you're out on the deck, which is terribly uncomfortable in July. We actually were seated at possibly the worst table in the house. In a back corner behind the first floor bar next to a window that only showed you the backside of another building and a sliver of grass. The upstairs seating is truly undesirable because they've converted an area that wasn't meant to have tables in. It is super cramped up there and also everywhere on the first floor. The only place with a little bit of elbow room is the deck. You know a place is to cramped when the servers have to negotiate moving between tables to avoid patrons and other servers.

The waterfront location is definitely the biggest draw here. Sitting outside overlooking the harbor…read moremakes for a really nice setting, especially during the summer. Unfortunately, the food just didn't live up to the view. We tried the nachos, mahi tacos and drinks, and while everything was fine, nothing really stood out. The flavors were what you'd expect from a lakeside bar. Service was very friendly, but overall the experience felt more like you're paying for the location than the food itself. I'd come back for a drink on the patio, but probably not for dinner.

First, the good news: the atmosphere is beautiful, and our server, Marcus, deserves a raise. He was friendly, attentive, and handled a table full of increasingly confused diners with remarkable professionalism. None of what follows is on him. Now for the food. The mac and cheese was mostly mac with only a passing acquaintance with cheese. My mom ordered the halibut, and I'm fairly certain the chef mistook the salt shaker for a seasoning suggestion rather than a serving size. It was so aggressively salty that we asked Marcus to taste a bite from the untouched side because we honestly thought maybe we were crazy. He took one bite, his face instantly said, "Oh no," and he apologized before offering to replace it. Since the rest of us had already finished eating, my mom just asked for a salad. Somehow... that was worse. The blue cheese dressing tasted like blue cheese that had filed for retirement weeks ago. Vinegary, strange, and just plain off. My half chicken was the smallest half chicken I've ever seen. I'm still trying to figure out what happened to the other half of the half. It was cooked fine, but "not ruining chicken" isn't exactly a culinary achievement. My brother's prime rib was... okay. Not memorable, not offensive--just existing. The cocktails joined the theme. We sent two back because they simply weren't good and switched to beer. Thankfully, whoever made the beer knew what they were doing. I completely understand that every restaurant can have an off night. But when the mac and cheese has no cheese, the fish is inedible from salt, the replacement salad tastes questionable, the cocktails get sent back, and the rest of the food is merely surviving, it's hard to chalk it up to bad luck. Five stars for Marcus. One star for the kitchen. If those two teams ever get on the same page, this place could be excellent. **Update:** I want to give credit where it's due. After my wife posted her review on Google, the owner responded very thoughtfully and acknowledged that our table clearly did not receive the attention it should have. We never asked for a refund, and I wasn't expecting anything, but the restaurant refunded the bill and made sure our waiter was still compensated. That doesn't change the fact that the food and drinks that night were really disappointing, but it does say something positive about the ownership. Mistakes happen, rough nights happen, and I appreciate a business that takes responsibility instead of getting defensive. Marcus was excellent, and the owner's response was classy. I hope our visit really was just a bad night, because the way they handled it afterward deserves credit.

The waitress Kayla was great and super friendly. She checked on us just the right amount and even asked if we needed water way after paying our bill. The reason for the 3 stars is because my food was lukewarm at best. I ordered the salmon with French fries. The French fries tasted like they were under a heat lamp for 24 hours. My husband had the prime rib and he said it was good. I had a spicy margarita that wasn't great as well. This place has the potential to be amazing. It definitely fell short of expectations.
