    Lobster ravioli

Atmosphere: Located on a really gorgeous golf course. The bathrooms were spotless and our table was clean, really the whole place was immaculate. I hope you love plaid because you'll be staring at it no matter where you are seated! Service: Our server was really great, super attentive with lots of recommendations. She was super personable. Drinks were quick to arrive and so was our appetizer. Food: The complimentary popovers were delicious, I could eat those until I pass out. The rest of the food was a down hill experience. The cheese curds were fried at too high of a temperature so the breading and cheese were separated. However, the pepper relish served with them is so good. I would buy that by the jar. The lobster ravioli tasted of tomatoes, and that's it. The french fries were under seasoned and the other person I dined with wasn't really gung-ho over their steak, it was lacking seasoning. They've had better in the Fox Valley at a lower price point. We might come back to order other items on the menu (and for those popovers), maybe we just ordered the wrong apps/entrees.

Came here for a birthday dinner and it was exceptional in every way- the booth is comfy, the view is gorgeous, the meal was top notch. Our waiter was very helpful and quick. We absolutely loved the crab cakes and steaks. Definitely a great place for a classy dinner.

My experience at TJ's was extraordinary. Such a gorgeous and eclectic dining room, top notch service, and the food is to die for. We were celebrating, and we went all out. They have a great selection of wine. The merlot was great and my boyfriend was obsessed with the Riesling. To start we got lobster bisque and hamachi crudo. The hamachi crudo was seriously the best bites I've ever eaten. I was eating the wasabi Yusuf aioli on my chops sticks by itself! For entrees we had the crispy Peking duck and the Bavette. Both were perfectly cooked, amazing outside crusts, and the sauces were outstanding. The sides were fantastic! The portions were huge. We probably have 2 more meals in our fridge. You must get the bacon cream spinach- I wanted to take a bath in it. The charred Brussels sprouts were soft and crispy. The wagyu tallow roasted potatoes were a little boring- would have like them better if they were smashed and fried, but it's just a classic roasted potato. For dessert we finished off with a bang with the warm butter cake topped with raspberry sauce and vanilla ice cream. The cake was so moist and the coolness of the ice cream was just perfect. I can't wait to go back to TJ's Highland Steakhouse!! We left very happy and I am looking forward to the leftovers.

I've been here twice and it's always a treat. The food is always amazing and the service is stellar. Perfect spot for a date night.

Although the meal was a disappointment, need to add the restaurant was immaculate and intimate and the service was excellent.

The best steak we've ever had. Excellent service. Excellent cocktails. This is a gem, save for a dinner date or special occasion.

Unfortunately, the food just didn't live up to the view. We tried the nachos, mahi tacos and drinks, and while everything was fine, nothing really stood out. The flavors were what you'd expect from a lakeside bar. Service was very friendly, but overall the experience felt more like you're paying for the location than the food itself. I'd come back for a drink on the patio, but probably not for dinner.

The overall experience is pretty good, but I don't think I would consider anything exceptional. The…read moreservice was very friendly. A few things to note, their cocktail menu is amusing because their specialty drinks mostly seem to be five different standard recipes with slightly different preparations to turn them into Mojitos or spritzes or margaritas. Do you want something with blueberries? Pick your preparation. All of them are too sweet. Their peanut butter crème brûlée was tasty, but doesn't really qualify as a crème brûlée. It was basically a runny, peanut butter flavored almost pudding. Their pizzas were really good though. Frankly, I was most surprised by the ambience. For a place that looks so big from the outside. It seemed really cramped inside I walked around all of the seating areas and it was the same everywhere. While they bill themselves as being on the water, you really can't see the water from any seat in the house from what I observed, even if you're out on the deck, which is terribly uncomfortable in July. We actually were seated at possibly the worst table in the house. In a back corner behind the first floor bar next to a window that only showed you the backside of another building and a sliver of grass. The upstairs seating is truly undesirable because they've converted an area that wasn't meant to have tables in. It is super cramped up there and also everywhere on the first floor. The only place with a little bit of elbow room is the deck. You know a place is to cramped when the servers have to negotiate moving between tables to avoid patrons and other servers.

First, the good news: the atmosphere is beautiful, and our server, Marcus, deserves a raise. He was friendly, attentive, and handled a table full of increasingly confused diners with remarkable professionalism. None of what follows is on him. Now for the food. The mac and cheese was mostly mac with only a passing acquaintance with cheese. My mom ordered the halibut, and I'm fairly certain the chef mistook the salt shaker for a seasoning suggestion rather than a serving size. It was so aggressively salty that we asked Marcus to taste a bite from the untouched side because we honestly thought maybe we were crazy. He took one bite, his face instantly said, "Oh no," and he apologized before offering to replace it. Since the rest of us had already finished eating, my mom just asked for a salad. Somehow... that was worse. The blue cheese dressing tasted like blue cheese that had filed for retirement weeks ago. Vinegary, strange, and just plain off. My half chicken was the smallest half chicken I've ever seen. I'm still trying to figure out what happened to the other half of the half. It was cooked fine, but "not ruining chicken" isn't exactly a culinary achievement. My brother's prime rib was... okay. Not memorable, not offensive--just existing. The cocktails joined the theme. We sent two back because they simply weren't good and switched to beer. Thankfully, whoever made the beer knew what they were doing. I completely understand that every restaurant can have an off night. But when the mac and cheese has no cheese, the fish is inedible from salt, the replacement salad tastes questionable, the cocktails get sent back, and the rest of the food is merely surviving, it's hard to chalk it up to bad luck. Five stars for Marcus. One star for the kitchen. If those two teams ever get on the same page, this place could be excellent. **Update:** I want to give credit where it's due. After my wife posted her review on Google, the owner responded very thoughtfully and acknowledged that our table clearly did not receive the attention it should have. We never asked for a refund, and I wasn't expecting anything, but the restaurant refunded the bill and made sure our waiter was still compensated. That doesn't change the fact that the food and drinks that night were really disappointing, but it does say something positive about the ownership. Mistakes happen, rough nights happen, and I appreciate a business that takes responsibility instead of getting defensive. Marcus was excellent, and the owner's response was classy. I hope our visit really was just a bad night, because the way they handled it afterward deserves credit.

The waitress Kayla was great and super friendly. She checked on us just the right amount and even asked if we needed water way after paying our bill. The reason for the 3 stars is because my food was lukewarm at best. I ordered the salmon with French fries. The French fries tasted like they were under a heat lamp for 24 hours. My husband had the prime rib and he said it was good. I had a spicy margarita that wasn't great as well. This place has the potential to be amazing. It definitely fell short of expectations.
