This place is unorganized, people behind the counters are rude and will speak over you and try to belittle you, regardless of who is around. We rented 9 suits but once paid, it turned into a nightmare. I gave this place a shot due to proximity but will no longer be returning here. I advise you to look elsewhere. I walked into so many tux stores and none were as comfortable as this location. I had visited other Friar Tux locations also but I was not acknowledged until I had been standing there for a while. When I came into the store, Victoria immediately welcomed me in and asked if I was picking up or if I needed to get fitted. I told her I needed to get fitted and she started showing me around so I can see the different types of styles she had in store. I told her which one I liked and she was very kind. I had a very special gathering to attend and Victoria made this process smooth and simple. I was worried about the suit not fitting how I wanted it to fit, Victoria reassured me not to worry, and she would find the perfect suit for me. When I came in to pick up a suit, she suggested I should try it on to see how it fits. We were in between two suits, and I asked her which one she recommended. She went above and beyond for me making sure I was comfortable and 100% on the suit I was taking. I am glad Victoria has taken over this store. Other stores need to have a manager like her, that takes initiative and definitely prioritizes customer service. Thank you for a lovely experience. I highly suggest if you are trying to make an appointment for an afternoon hours and during the weekday to avoid the evening rush. For the fitting make sure you come in comfortable clothes. if you're like me, I wear a tank top make sure you wear the tank top for your fitting. Another thing I may add is when you come to pick up your rental make sure you have 2 to 3 days before the actual event just in case they need to do some more alterations like my situation the shirt was too long and they needed to find another shirt everything ended up working out at the end. read more

$200 for TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Unclear policies and managers customer blaming (even when customer already agrees to an only partial refund). Quality of the suit itself was good, but the inconvenience this company puts on their customers is a huge turnoff. You would expect smooth and seamless service for such an expensive fee... but you may be surprised. After paying $200 on a prom tux rental, they had sent us home with a regular tie instead of the bow tie we ordered. Due to our busy schedule we were not able to come in with my brother (who was at school) for final fitting and to pick up the tux. My mom had picked up the Tux on a Monday with Max. She just picked up the suit set since my brother was not present for fitting (the contents of the set were not opened and reviewed with my mom before sending her out of the store... although per manager Chris, this is supposed to be their company policy. I'll get to the privilege of introducing Chris a little later in this review). Unfortunately, due to my brother's busy schedule (taking AP exams all week prior to his prom night on a Friday) he was unable to open the suit package and try everything on ahead of time. 2 hours before the prom as my brother was getting ready he noticed they had sent him a tie rather than a bow tie that they had agreed upon at fitting and paid for. Upon calling the business, they notified us that they no longer had the right bow tie in stock. Max had suggested my mom could visit another tux shop and buy the proper tie and they would reimburse the expense for that bow tie. Fast forward to Saturday when we return the suit. Max was not in the office so we had the pleasure of interacting with CHRIS (manager on duty on Saturday's at 3pm). Upon review of Max's notes, they stated we would only get refunded for the cost of the incorrect tie rental (and they would not honor the agreement for a full reimbursement for the second bow tie my mom had to go out of her way to buy). When my mom was explaining her side of the story, Chris was not a very good listener. He was speaking over my mom, who was explaining her confusion with the process as it was her first time renting a suit. I overheard statements of "you should have", "that's not what I'm saying"... but not once did he apologize for any inconvenience. My mom had already agreed to only get the refund for the tie they messed up (although she was promised a full reimbursement for the bow tie she went out of her way to purchase the night of prom), and he would not stop customer blaming and speaking over her. MORAL OF THE STORY: - if you're renting suits for the first time, make sure the staff goes over EVERY article of clothing you're renting before you leave when picking up the suit (even if the person wearing it cannot be there) - if any agreement is made over the phone, make sure the staff sends a formal email or statement acknowledging the terms of the agreement you had spoken about over the phone. They should already if they're a credible business!! (avoids the customer being mislead or the staff being misunderstood) - the pricey fees when agreeing to rent with Friar Tux Downey do not guarantee that you will be given decent service or the pieces you pay for and agree to rent. There are unfortunately inconsistencies that they rely on their customers to catch!! (And they won't apologize for their service mistakes) read more

The groomsman of the wedding I was part of came here for some suit rental. We didn't make an appointment and we were still seen quick. The two gentleman working here on the Sunday we came in are very professional and were great at handling the huge crowd that just came out of nowhere. They took my sizes and checked to see if everything was a great fit on me. We were done quick. The rental came out to about 150 which is standard for a great suit for this type of occasion. I've used this company for my friend's Vegas bachelor party, presentations, when I've had to look formal for musical performances and even when I chaperoned my younger brother for his own gala event. Each of these times, Victor has been able to help me pick out the proper suit for the right occasion and has done a great job getting me the right fit. He's got great customer service and he's super efficient. The store does get busy during graduation season and other times, but that's not something I mind because good service is often sought after. They do a good job attending everyone even when it's busy and I plan on returning to them for a long time. I recommend this place if you need to look your best for an event. read more

Outstanding service! I've always had helpful people at Friars but these guys went above and beyond. Went in this morning and had a bit of confusion about getting fitted, had to leave and was planning on contacting the groom. Before I got home I get a random call from a 562 number and it's Kevin saying that after I left he still looked into the wrong info I gave him. Despite the issue he offered an alternative solution and it ended up working out perfectly. As someone who has worked Customer Service for years I know it's easier for most people to just but like Sorry! But Kevin went out of his way to help me out and helped make my weekend easier. When I went back Kevin was helping another customer and immediately recognized me, he called Marco to help me out and he was just as helpful getting me fitted. He was able to answer all of my questions in the process and in the end it took me about 20 minutes to be done. All in all amazing team, outstanding service. Super disorganized. For the fitting we we made appointment. We were not helped until about one and a half past our appointment time. And we were given a lecture for the party signing in individually. When we picked up suits we went by what they had said and the head of the party signed in and hour latter they called him in and we were told we needed to sign in individually and were forced to wait behind in line after sitting outside again. Kept getting booted from the check in system so was not sure if it was working. I was told it had populated several times but still had to wait. We came here to rent a tux for my son's senior prom. Since he waited until the last minute to decide to go we felt a little pressure to prepare. We came in on a Saturday morning shortly after opening and were the second in line, which ended up being perfect timing as this place got really packed especially since it's during prom season. We were informed about limited options due to being prom season. We made three similar selections on style and my son was measured and fitted. The tux rental included shirt, bow tie, vest, pants, jacket, and shoes. They let us know that it would be ready the Thursday before prom in order to come in for final fitting and make changes if needed. Upon arrival on Thursday afternoon the place was super packed but service continued to be friendly and attentive. My son tried on his tux and it was a perfect fit! They reminded us to return on Sunday by noon or else we would have to pay a late charge. The morning of the return by son couldn't find his bow tie, which was understandable as everyone was changing and getting things mixed up. They charged me for the bow tie and told us they just wanted the bow tie back and would give me a refund ($16.28) if and when it was returned. Luckily it was found, returned, and refunded! Friars made preparing for prom (last minute) easy and stress free. Definitely recommend!!! read more

I have had the worst experience renting a tux at the Downey location. They measured me and then when the suit got there the jacket was WAY too big. Then when the replacement jacket got there a day before the event it was too big as well. Now I have to go out of my way to drive 30 miles one way to pick up the correct size jacket two hours before the event commences tomorrow. All the employee could say was sorry and I'm paying almost $150 for the rental. He took his time and even though they were busy when we just dropped in unannounced, he still made us feel important even while juggling multiple customers.
