Bacon Mac and cheese tater tots

Fast! Tasty! Quite filling! Nothing is cheap in Disney but can't complain about the size of this serving.

*Great Vegetarian find at Disney World!* The Friar's Nook in Magic Kingdom is a quick service restaurant featuring hot dogs and tots. The vegan bratwurst was served in a flavorful pretzel bun with fried tater tots (which were greasy but in a good way!) The brat had a snap like a real sausage and was great topped with sauerkraut ketchup and mustard (all optional). Only down side was the wait, which was about 20 minutes. On the side I requested the cheese sauce as I split it with my vegan wife and I am not.

Mac and cheese with tots, bratwurst, and Buffalo chicken tots. All delicious! Needs more seating, I can't imagine how insane it would be to get a table if the parks were full!

Over rated and lack luster food options at best! The service staff is great but the quality and options depletes all positives

I don't usually go out of my way for fast food. But today? I did. I made the trip. I committed…read more Because when it comes to Raising Cane's, I'm usually all in. That's what made this one sting a little. Let me set the stage. I pull up to the Kissimmee location already knowing what I'm getting. This place has one job. Chicken. Not a massive menu. Not a bunch of distractions. Just chicken, fries, toast, slaw. Simple. Focused. The kind of setup where you expect consistency every single time. And then the tray hit the table. The chicken? Bland. Like no one introduced it to seasoning. And somehow also soggy. You know that moment when you bite in expecting that crispy crunch and instead you get... soft confusion? Yeah. That. It honestly felt like the oil wasn't hot enough. Which is kind of a big deal when frying is your entire identity. Now here's where it gets even more frustrating. Cane's sauce is usually the safety net. It can cover a lot of sins. Underseasoned chicken? Fine. Dip it, save it, move on. But it cannot fix texture. It cannot create crunch out of thin air. And when the crisp isn't there, the whole thing falls flat. The fries didn't do much to help the situation. Underdone. Under salted. Just kind of there. Taking up space. Not offensive, just disappointing. Like they almost made it to the finish line and then decided to clock out early. And here's the part that really gets me. When you only do one thing, you have to nail it. Every time. No excuses. No off days. No close enough. This isn't a diner with a 10-page menu. This is chicken. How do you forget to make it crispy? Now, credit where it's due. The Texas toast? Still elite. Buttery, golden, doing exactly what it's supposed to do. The coleslaw? Fresh, crisp, actually refreshing. And the staff here? Friendly, efficient, and the food came out quick. No complaints on the service side at all. So now I'm sitting there having this internal debate. Because I know what Raising Cane's can be. And this wasn't it. somewhere in the middle of that meal it hit me that I went out of my way for this and got a version that felt like it cut corners That's a tough pill to swallow in an area like Kissimmee where you've got options everywhere you turn. Great food is not hard to find around here. Which makes subpar chicken stand out even more. Three stars. And that feels generous based on the sides and the service carrying the weight. But let's be clear. I'm usually a five star guy when it comes to Raising Cane's. This just wasn't that day. And when your whole brand is built on doing one thing right, you don't get a pass when that one thing misses.

Normally I like Raising Canes, when fast food is concerned, as far as taste (there's hardly any…read morenutritional value besides protein) - but this location was not good. The chicken was over frozen and over fried. It was chewy, dry, and rubbery all at the same time. Absolutely horrible. Location itself was quick and friendly enough. So, when I was in Kissimmee I looked and found this one and went. It's about a 15 min ride from the Gaylord in Kissimmee, which is a mile from Disney's main entrance. Service here was great, friendly, and quick. The menu is what I'm familiar with, but all I wanted was a small Italian Beef with spicy giardiniera and a Chicago Dog. Since fries came with it, I wasn't arguing, as they use those crinkle cut fries and they serve them crispy, hot, and tasty! The Italian Beef was incredible, as it usually is! I was in Chicago a few weeks ago and got an Italian Beef from Gold Coast Hot Dogs and it was just ok, I forgot how amazing Portillo's were until getting this one - It Was Great! Very flavorful, tender, and moist meat with a flavorful au jus to dip it into. The giardiniera was fresh, crunchy, and spicy - it made for a great combination with that beef! The bun was so soft and held up to the sandwich and dipping it into the au jus perfectly! Next up was their Chicago dogs - AWESOME! Again, fresh veggies and a great bun. The Vienna beef hot dog was cooked spot-on as well! The place is nicely decorated and kept very clean. I'll definitely return when in the area!

I placed my order at the kiosk, so I didn't have much interaction with the staff aside from picking up my food when my number was called, but everything was smooth and efficient. I ordered the Italian beef sandwich plain with the gravy on the side, and it was perfect. The sandwich was generously packed with flavorful, tender beef, and having the gravy on the side let me control how much I wanted--definitely the way to go. I also got the crinkle fries, which were fresh and delicious, and I ended up finishing every last one. One thing about Portillo's is their consistency. Every location I've visited delivers the same quality experience, and this one in Kissimmee is no exception.

At the time of my visit, it was open fairly late for walk up orders for those seeking a bite to eat later in the evening. Mobile order through the My Disney Experience (MDE) app was also available, but only up until an hour before the official closing time of the establishment. Seats were available for patrons to dine inside and right outside. However, since P and J is located on the Fort Wilderness Resort, there are several picnic/outdoor areas throughout the property for diners to take their food on the go to enjoy. Located on the end of the property that is closest to the Seven Seas Lagoon, P and J Southern Takeout can easily be accessed by resort/campground guests through the internal bus system, golf cart (there's parking right outside the establishment), or by walking (though it may be a long walk depending on where your lodging is situated). Guests not staying at Fort Wilderness could probably stop by P and J Southern Takeout, especially those coming from Magic Kingdom by the resort/campground's private boat. The drop off is a very short walk from the boat dock and no one was verifying whether one was a guest of Fort Wilderness or not. My hubby and I ordered dinner at P and J Southern Takeout to try the food on the resort, and it definitely didn't disappoint. We went for what seemed to be their specialized items - BBQ Ribs and Fried Chicken meal (though they do have much more on the menu that align with the typical WDW quick service offerings). For a quick service meal and for the price, our food was fantastic! This could have easily passed for some of the more expensive table service choices at the parks, specifically at Magic Kingdom. Both the ribs and chicken were tender and juicy. The fried chicken was crispy and not oily and the BBQ ribs coupled with the BBQ sauce were absolute perfection. The sides were overly generous in size. We tried the Mashed Potatoes with gravy (delicious!), Cowboy Beans (my favorite out of all of the sides we selected and complemented the rest of the meal perfectly), and Mac & Cheese. The cornbread was also phenomenal. It was my on the go breakfast for the next two days. We were happy to take our food back to our cabin and have leftovers to munch on throughout the rest of our stay. We ordered through mobile order on the MDE app and our order was promptly ready at the time specified. Cast Members at P and J Southern Takeout were friendly and welcoming. Overall good experience. We would definitely make it a point to dine with them again when on property (or visiting Magic Kingdom and looking for a break from the park).

The convenience that it is on the campgrounds is the benefit, and if your starving they have decent extended hours. If you have the app, it's most convenient to order online. Our first experience with breakfast was awful. The lady at the register was so sweet but their computer systems weren't working so the manager had to come out and reboot the register. They do have some seating inside, but it is limited due to Covid. The bounty breakfast is Served with Eggs, French Toast Sticks, Bacon, Sausage, Potato Barrels, and a Biscuit. The eggs were runny the bacon was extremely thin, the potato barrels were tater tots (can't mess those up) and the French toast sticks are doused in sugar. The next day, we gambled here for breakfast again (we didn't prep our camper for breakfast meals). This time we ordered the Mickey waffles that came with either sausage or bacon. This was a much better option, but unfortunately they placed our order in the wrong window and someone took our food so we had to re-wait again for our food ... frustrating. For a Disney restaurant they do not have it together.

My go to sides are mashed potatoes, black beans, and broccoli. Again, I want to try the rest, but I keep going back to what's familiar to me. Oh! The lemonade! So they have this spicy jalapeno lemonade, that I've found when mixed with their unsweetened tea is my new favorite drink. They also have beer and wine, and rumor has it, you can get your beer and wine discounted on rainy days! I'd honestly give this place six stars if that were an option. Yee Haw!

Once we arrived for pick up, we waited at the outdoor tables. The restaurant was somewhat busy but the team was working hard and very nice despite how busy they were. We purchased the family dinner for 4, which included chicken tenders, choice of rolls or chips and salsa, 3 sides, and a dessert. This also included 4 different dipping sauces. We waited quite a long time but everything was packaged correctly and conveniently. You get quite a lot of chicken but it's served in a large tray that can be stored in the fridge if you have leftovers. It definitely feeds 4 adults so if you are a family of 4 with young kids, this could easily feed you twice. Our side choices were green beans, white cheddar Mac n cheese, and seasoned french fries. The dessert choice was peach cobbler. This was a good meal - nothing fancy but the food tasted great. I would opt for the dinner in the future because of what a good deal it is.
