It's a little overwhelming to walk into a place with a cuisine you're not super familiar with. I asked the guy behind the counter, Jacob, for help ordering...he had an awesome recommendation (I'm so sorry, I don't remember exactly what it was, I lost my original review luckily I had Jacobs name written down so I wouldn't forget, lol) it was coconut-y and spicy, but not too spicy, and just seriously delicious. The appetizer platter was great, but we probably wouldn't do it again just because we were so full and couldn't eat all of mine, I had like a whole meal of leftovers. We really liked the decor of this place...everything in black and white. We arrived late but were still welcomed in as they closed at 11pm. First of all, they were bumping some 80s/90s R&B in there. I don't know if that's something that they always play but I thoroughly enjoyed it the entire time. I got the White Chicks signature bowl (beef broth, udon noods, chicken, fried garlic, fried onion) and Thai Tea and some tapioca pearls that the cashier suggested. Talk about excellent service! Wow! Everyone there from the sweet cashier to the manager were really thoughtful. They took great care of my family as we dined for dinner on some of the most delicious pho, kimchi noodles with pork belly, kimchi fries that were amazing, bang bang shrimp and lemon grass chicken rice bowls. Everything was cooked to perfection and had excellent flavor. The restaurant itself is absolutely adorable! What a fun place to hang out. I ordered the sampler platter which included a little hit of everything, they were out of rangoons so we double up on the dumplings. Loved being able to have different rolls and dumplings! Not just a little late -- dead last, after everything else hit the table. At that point just rename the place "Eventually Pho, Maybe." And when it finally shows up? Wrong noodles. Not "kind of off" -- straight up pad thai noodles. The broth? Absolutely not pho broth. No depth, no aroma, no soul. Just hot disappointment in a bowl. Who is cooking back there? Seriously. Is the chef even Vietnamese, or did someone just watch a 30-second TikTok and say "yeah I got this"? My son ordered that pho, by the way. I asked them if they could cut the noodles and they said no, they don't do that. Oh perfect, let me just perform surgery with the flimsiest plastic fork and knife known to mankind. Which brings me to another genius decision -- ceramic plates, nice bowls, actual ramen spoons... and then dollar-store plastic utensils. Try cutting a pork chop with that. It's like trying to saw through concrete with a toothpick. Speaking of the pork chop... what in the world was that? I ordered lemongrass pork chop and got something that looked like it had been run over by a steam roller. Paper thin, dry, and lifeless. Soup was ok, flavors were there but a bit muted and on the sweet side. For a place called Twenty Pho Hour, I would expect the soup to be simmer for at least 20 hours, but the depth wasn't quite there. Noodles were a bit on the firm side, choice of thicker noodles and serving temperature did not do this bowl any more justice.
