While there my supervisor and I got the Parrillada Tierra Caliente and Mixed fajitas - the seasoning in the chicken and beef was the same and was very underwhelming. The meat would have be a lot better if the seasoning was different (they should add garlic salt and chile pepper to it for more flavor). It was an extremely underwhelming bland lime seasoning. On top of that, the meat tasted old (it tasted of oxidized grease!). However, the texture of both the chicken and beef was very good. Their shrimp and salsa were great! Additionally, it appears their tortillas are made in house. They were good, but the flour tortillas smelled and tasted like corn tortillas! The two types of tortillas are probably pre-prepared and stored in a heater together there. Because of this, there was a corn taste in their flour tortillas. Overall, the food was okay enough. They really should add more seasoning and change it up! We were disappointed the two different plates used the exact same bland seasoning (that wasn't that great). The overall ambiance of the place also seemed well. They have light musics playing in the background and soccer games playing on the TVS. read more

First time trying el camino. We came after lunch and was not busy on a Saturday during a football game of course. Staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. We were served complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was very good! For drinks, I got their horchata which was ok. My husband ordered a Pina colada but wasn't blended well enough and had big chunks of ice that made it hard to drink with a straw. For food, I got the cheese enchiladas with chile con queso sauce. I wish I hadn't chosen that sauce because it was way too much cheese but that was my fault. Just a warning. They tasted good tho! Rice and beans were fine. Would definitely return! This was my first time visiting Caminos Mexican Cafe. The restaurant has a very lively atmosphere and the food is decent. Ambiance: There is plenty of seating with tables/chairs, booths, and a bar. There was a louder noise level because they were having open mic karaoke on the day I went (Friday 8-11 pm). Service: The service was awful!! The waitress was not friendly and she never came around to refill our drinks. I consistently had to ask another waiter for help and get my own napkins. Quesabirria: The quesadilla was VERY greasy. But, overall it had a nice flavor and a big portion size. The tortilla was nice and crispy too! The sauces to dip it in were good but honestly really spicy. Came here for the first time with my family. Ordered the shrimp tacos, Carnitas a La Cacerola, Caminos Enchiladas, Queso Blanco appetizer, beef burrito, and mixed tacos. All the dishes were good, but not amazing or anything. The kids ordered some kid stuff like chicken fingers and cheeseburgers. Horchata was delicious. Staff are friendly and fast. There are still some kinks to be worked out since they are a new business in our community. The service was spot on throughout the entire meal. The boys each had QuesaBirria and we had Tacos De Birria. The menu said these are weekend only items. The taco was stuffed with meat that was flavored so well. The guacamole appetizer was freshly made. The chips are good and crisp. I've been going to Caminos for a long time love the sangria swirl and the enchiladas. The picture I attached is from the one time I've gotten take out which the chips and salsa free of charge is a nice touch. The atmosphere and staff are very nice. I've had their salsa and queso many times and it's a favourite of mine. The salsa is served hot with a good kick to it. A reasonable Mexican place. Lots of chimichangas if you want to get involved in the Mexican food war of chimichangas - love 'em or hate 'em. Superior salsa. Respectable chips. Respectable fajita nachos. Execution is a little more "Mexican" than we normally see. * * * Interesting note. They use Mexican canned pickled jalapenos rather than American ones. This is a mark of authenticity but it is also a style question. Mexican canned jalapenos are uglier than the American versions which are bred for prettiness. They look darker and taste darker. I like American canned jalapenos. I like Mexican canned jalapenos. You see Mexican ones less often. * * * Other interesting note. They lay a stripe of garnishes down the middle of your plate (lettuce, crema etc) The nachos make up one stripe on the front of your plate and one stripe on the back of your plate. This is a different approach than the American approach which is to serve 6000 pounds of nacho chips with 2000 pounds of stuff dumped on the top. You get "less nacho" in this version ... But you will be totally full of nacho when you are done. You don't need to be a "biggo piggo" to have a decently proportioned plate of nachos. * * * The staff are really helpful and nice. * * * College Station is not exactly rolling with marvelous Mexican restaurants. So this is a welcome addition. Yes, your girlfriend's mother's veterinarian knows a mom and pop place in Cotulla, Texas that is legendary. If you and your girlfriend's mother's veterinarian want to drive down to Cotulla for dinner, go for it. But for College Station, this is pretty good. read more

If you're looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant, this is not the place. We waited over an hour for our food and were not impressed by what we received. The quesabirria was $17 for about 4 small quesadillas, dont even bother ordering the kids chicken and fingers because it is chicken with a little bit of panko crumbs and no seasoning. I guess maybe this place is so well rated for the drink specials? A pretty nice frozen margarita for 3.50$ was the only redeeming part of my visit. I know, I know, inflation shrinkflation blah blah ... if I order chicken Fajitas for $14.99 I expect it to come with more than 6 little strips of chicken. I regret not taking a picture of it - it's so embarrassing. I would guarantee it was maybe 6oz of food, if not 8 at the most. Chicken breast is like 3.50 a pound raw even with inflation pricing. ... so they should be able to still give reasonable portions. I was thankful for the huge bed of sautéed onions - it was tasty! The Mole enchiladas were just fine. The whole plate was served luke warm and I assume it was canned mole - nothing special. Caminos is great! The food and the margaritas are delicious. My first time going was a fantastic experience. I wish I knew the server's name, but he was a younger guy who gave exceptional service. Unfortunately, my second visit here was not good at all. Miguel was our server, and he made us wait around 5-10 minutes even though we made eye contact with him while he was joking around with the girl behind the bar. Then, he gave us the worst service I had ever experienced. It took too long to get to us finally, then forgot our queso, and we then asked if he had it for us, and his response was "nah" with a smirk, very unprofessional. After that, he even tried to charge us for the queso and then went on throughout the shift talking to the girl and neglecting his customers. I respect the restaurant, and their food is fantastic, but their servers tonight were terrible. I will be back for that server from our first experience and the food, but if I see Miguel serving, I'm turning around and finding a different place to eat. read more

Spacious and open for both big and small parties. The interior is common like every other Mexican cafe I've ever been in. The food is ok. The beef fajitas were ok. The onions with the beef were spot on and delicious! The beef was just a little chewy. The chimichanga was out of this world! I'll get it again. The salsa was warm and delicious, chips were tasty. The waitress was busy but fantastic, and she probably is what pushed it from a three to a four. If you're looking for something that's a step up from the standard or basic, I'd say this is it. However, it's not the best in BCS. It's good, and I'll go there if in a hurry or not wanting to wait forever. Try it, see if you like it. While the BCS area has numerous Tex-Mex restaurants around and most pretty good, Caminos is very good amongst the mom and pop, stand alone places. Staff is very friendly, with spot on recommendations if one needs help in deciding from the many items on the menu. The cheese enchiladas can be had with multiple sauces. Charro beans are very tasty. One of the best things is that it has a full service bar, one of the few non chains that has this available. No Icee style margaritas, you can get the real deal. Great atmosphere when you can hear the Texas Tornadoes playing on their music system. Great food for great value. read more
