We were in town for a football game and went to Chimy's for dinner. This is a sprawling place with seating outside and inside, we went inside so that we could watch football. When you get inside, you get in one of the lines to place your orders. The drink selections are overwhelming, particularly the varieties of margaritas. The order takers are very friendly. They give you the drinks right away, then wait for your food. I had a watermelon margarita and then ordered a fajita quesadilla and a fajita soft taco. My margarita was very sweet, but probably perfect for many. The quesadilla was good, with a good mix of chicken and cheese. The soft taco was not as good--but very generous. Don't ever park there! Parked, walked around the building to meet family, and went and ate at Chimy's and while inside eating they towed our car. When we went the 10+ miles to get our car, they said it was $350 to get it back. When we contested the charges they called the sheriff on us. While we did nothing wrong, the policy states if you leave the property at any time, they watch cameras and tow your car immediately. The free salsa bar has lettuce, red and green salsa, a corn and black bean medley, jalapenos, tomatoes, etc. Honestly, you can make a whole salad as a side for free. And dress your tacos as you please. The fried chimichanga was pretty solid with a side of queso The waffle fries were good. Especially when combined with the queso... I used to always come to Chimy's with my mom back in San Marcos, and it was by far one of our favorite chill spots to get a giant thing of nachos. So of course I had to give this place my first try in College Station with my mom again. We came in and were greeted with a ton of college aged kids drinking margs and nachos, it was a pretty fun-chill atmosphere. We ordered chicken nachos, and a steak fajita taco. The nachos come out on a giant circular tray which could easily feed 2-3 people by itself. The tacos are pretty big but kind of lack on toppings. ( It's ok though, because theres a full condiment bar where you can load that ish up!!!) Overall, I was very pleased with this chimys. The biggest downfall however was the fact that we had to pay 5$ each for parking. Parking is pretty limited, and if you wish to park behind you have to pay 5$, or risk a ticket from parking on the street. This was my first time coming here. We stopped in before the A&M vs LSU game. (WHAT A GAME!!!!) The place was PACKED!!! You can tell it is a very popular place with not only the college crowd, but people of any age!! They were cranking out food and drinks like crazy!! It seemed like every 10 seconds they were calling customers' names to come pick up their food order!!! It was a little chaotic, but it was a huge game, so it was understandable! The only problem is that with that many people sitting/standing inside and outside on the porch, having customers pick up their orders made it a little more crazy! After my second drink I asked for my .75 she had shorted me since the total was approaching $2.00 she had shorted me. Some people work hard for their money to be able to have a drink with friends. don't support this business. my friends and I (all of us college girls) looked for a place to park on University and found a spot in the lot next to Chimy's. we looked for tow zone signs and saw none, so we parked. when we returned we found our car had been towed. we went into the nearest business, Chimy's, and asked for help. the manager led us outside and pointed us to a sign on the other side of the parking lot, posted on the corner of the building and not lit at all. This was their sorry excuse for a tow zone sign. We were informed that they have an employee watch the parking lot all night with a camera to see if guests who park there go into Chimy's or a different establishment. we were not allowed inside and we're left outside in 25 degree weather as a fight among Chimy's customers spilled out into the parking lot. Again, we are college girls (from out of town), waiting for an Uber in the dark and the cold while grown men scream at each other. Two or three other groups of people found their cars towed in the 15 or 20 minutes we waited for our Uber. This is clearly a recurring problem that would so easily be fixed with a VISIBLE sign. I come here a lot with coworkers, and we absolutely love Chimy's! First of all, the margaritas are great! You can get really fancy ones, or just the house margs. This is the kind of place where there is no table service, but that doesn't stop me from giving it 5 stars. The cheese fries are addicting, be sure to ask for bacon! My favorite thing I have gotten here would be the "chimychanga," you can get it fried or just have it grilled as a burrito. The green chili pork and chicken is super tasty and flavorful. There are healthy options too if you are a salad person; the Cabo salad is yummy with lots of avocado. I basically come here once a week, sometimes more, so I have tried just about everything on the menu and haven't been disappointed yet. When Chimy's came to San Marcos, I ate there a lot. Way too often. It was good and it was new. I brought people there when I found out they hadn't been. This is not going to be the case in College Station. To begin with, the prices have gone up. I can't say by how much, but 4.70-something for a "grande" taco is not okay. I guess when "food" becomes "bar food" it's allowed to be overpriced. The food is all good, if not a little too salty. The bar for taco toppings is great, and so is the salsa. I like most things on the menu, but I can't get over the prices. Not authentic mexican, so if that's what you're looking for don't come here. They have 1 dollar tacos during happy hour on weekdays from 4-7 pm and different drink specials depending on the day of the week. Over 30 different bottled beers offered with the addition of 8 on tap and 1 seasonal draft depending on what's available. On top of all that they also have a full bar that offers all of your favorites. The staff is always extremely nice, knowledgable and fast.
