Today Mr. Mister wanted nachos. So not wanting go too far from the house, we been wanting to come here for awhile. And man Frida's did not disappoint. Frida's has a great outdoor dining space just as inside. Today they have decorated for Cinco De Mayo. The inside has the signature colored banners with wallpaper of beautiful flowers and portraits of Frida Kahlo all over. Ms. Elvia was an awesome waitress. She made sure everything was perfect. She was very attentive all while attending her other tables. We had the Nachos Mexicanos and the Frida's Guacamole. And when I say those 2 dishes was very flavorful. We usually leave with a togo box. But today we ate every bit of it. The nachos filled the plate and was loaded down. The guacamole hit every tastebud. With this one visit we are certain we will be back to try other menu items. read more

I ordered a bowl of black beans. They literally gave me black beans out of the can, not even drain, drained, no cilantro and onion, just straight out of the heat it up and in my bowl. The margaritas were all premade, even the skinny margarita, and I had no choice, but to order the premade margaritas. The service was fantastic, the employees were wonderful, but I hesitate to recommend this place if they vote themselves on having fresh homemade food. We go to Frida's whenever we're visiting my dad. It's always pretty solid. I like that they have complimentary chips and TWO salsas, both of which are pretty tasty. I usually opt for carnitas in some form, but I just had carnitas burritos last night so decided to change it up! The pollo ranchero (wherever you find it on a menu) always seems like it's going to be too simple, but I seem to always really enjoy it. Tonight was no different. The thin slices of grilled chicken breast are usually overcooked, but it's forgiven due to the ranchero sauce and cheese that blanket them, providing needed moisture. The rice and beans are pretty good but definitely benefitted from ranchero sauce spillover and a little drizzle of salsa. Portion size was great. Frida's is pretty similar to a lot of mid-range Mexican spots (although I like the inclusion of fried plantains on the menu) but I've never how a disappointing experience, so giving it a 4! read more

My wife and I have eaten at Frida's a handful of times over the past year, and until now our experiences have generally been positive. The service and staff have always been very friendly and welcoming, which is something we've appreciated. Unfortunately, after eating at Frida's the day after Christmas, we both became extremely ill. Beginning the following morning and continuing throughout the day, my wife and I have been vomiting nonstop and experiencing the exact same symptoms, including chills. We can't say for certain what caused it, but the common denominator is that the last meal we both shared was from Frida's. The timing and severity of the symptoms are very concerning, and if my wife's condition doesn't improve, we may need to go to the emergency room. This has been a really upsetting experience, especially given that we've trusted this restaurant in the past. The atmosphere is warm and typical for a mom and pop restaurant with no concerns to mention. We live less than 2 1/2 miles from Fridas and consider them as our go to Mexican restaurant. I'm sharing this not to attack the staff, who have always been kind, but to honestly report what happened and hopefully encourage extra attention to food safety and quality. read more

My husband and I went to eat lunch at Fridas Mexican restaurant. We always order the for 2 Fajita we noticed the menu changed. The menu say steak chicken shrimp and sausage be for it said pastor (pork) and we paid a little extra for it. This time we received the bill and it said for the steak shrimp and chicken was $30 but we added $15 for the chorizo sausage. Then on the bottom of the receipt, it states they didn't want sausage. So I paid $15 for something I did not receive because the waitress didn't tell me that I had to either order extra chicken shrimp or beef. The manager says well that's the way it is on the menu and because she didn't tell me I'm still responsible for the $15. They should have taken full $15 off read more

I had a pretty decent experience here. We walked in and were seated immediately by the clerk. While scrolling through the menu there was some kind of grease on one of the laminated pages, so I would like to recommend they do a quick check and flip through the pages before serving them to guests. Our waiter was nice and did a solid job with us. We didnt know what we really wanted to order and he assisted us with recommendations not only with food but drinks aswell. I ordered carnitas and they were made pretty well, I enjoyed them very much. My appetizer never came though, the shrimp cocktail. During the whole stay I wasnt even given an explanation either. Everything else was served to us fine but not a word on the appetizer. It wasnt until the check came when the waiter finally mentioned that he was sorry about the appetizer. I apologize for the late review, but here it goes. This place is like a cafeteria but with servers. The place is enormous, with plenty of seating. The staff was friendly and got us seated and our orders quickly. They were so quick we had to ask them to come back as it was our first time there and we had not had a chance to review the menu. The staff is trained to get you to your seat, take your order, get whatever you need, and get you out the door. Now, that's not a bad thing. It just feels more like a cantina with food. We enjoyed ourselves, so I don't want my experience to seem negative because it's not. Now, on to the food. We got chips and salsa, but one of those sauces was fantastic. Just the right amount of flavor and heat. You all know some Mexican restaurants give you some salsa that has no flavor and is hot for no reason . We went with the street tacos. Beef, chicken and shrimp. They were tasty and hit the spot. There are so many selections to choose from that we may consider coming back. Frida's is a great place for dinner and or lunch! It is a busy and well visited eatery. Chips and salsa are served as soon as you are seated. it can be a little noisy as this place is busy. However, it is not enough to interrupt your own party conversations. Service is fast and efficient, the food is what you would expect at a Mexican restaurant... It is very good. I have three favorite Mexican restaurants, one in Loganville, one in Snellville and this one in Lawrenceville. All are fantastic! Frida's is my go to in Lawrenceville! I like their food, specially their chicken tortilla soup, but last time I ordered it did not taste the same, I asked my waiter and she said that different people are in charge of putting together the food and some are better than others! This place was amazing, we arrived with a party of about 20 at 9:20 10 mins before their kitchen closed. They executed everything with care and got everyone's drinks as quick as possible, and that's regular drinks and alcoholic drinks included. Unfortunately, the food here has declined. It used to be something that you knew that was consistent but now if you have DoorDash or if you go into the restaurant, it's a trade-off from bad service to bad food. I received a DoorDash order tonight after not trying them for a very long time because the last time was terrible. I had the steak burrito and it was seasoned with something that was terrible. I really don't get it..I have no clue how it was so bad but it was just plain terrible. read more

Disappointing! The restaurant was nice inside with a lot of room to accommodate our group of 20+ people. It was 4:30 on a Wednesday and we were separated from the main room by a wall. We were given "1" waitress "Ana", who was awesome at serving us. When we each received our bill we noticed the gratuity was already added along with a space for an additional tip, in which we all tipped her extra. However, as we were settling our checks, we were visited by a male server who asked us to be quiet because our waitress needed to make money. We were shocked! There were no other patrons around us! When he was asked to explain, he said he could not place anyone in our area because we were too loud. The music they piped through the speakers was louder than our conversations. We all felt blindsided especially after generously tipping our waitress who appeared appreciative. Too bad, the food wasn't as exciting as our experience. I did request pickled onions if they had them....guess not....NO biggie on that. The shrimp with the garlic was also very good but I did request extra sauce and that did not happen. Outside of that, it would be great if that made their to go packaging a bit more secure...it was just open.... I know most drivers are not always out to get you but there is still a percentage that does....so stapling, taping, or tying a knot (if possible) is always good so that when received, ot would be obvious if tampered with. When we walked in, we approached the Hostess, and its okay that she didn't speak English - but we were obviously there to be seated but we needed 2 employees to come translate to her that we would like to be seated and order dinner. Very puzzling. The service from our waitress, Natali, was great. The Poblano Pepper Dinner and Shrimp Enchiladas were great - but the greatness ended there. We purchased a $15 CLIPP Coupon for $30 off Specifically FOR the Grayson Highway address (NOT Cumming). WHEN WE PRESENTED IT, the staff looked at us like we were crazy. It ended up with the Manager, Felipe refusing to take it telling us to take it to Cumming (a 70 mile round trip.) He was extremely NOT HELPFUL. I consider this the same as lying to your customer when you refuse to take a valid coupon. The food was great and Natali, our server was great but the Manager really blew it. Waited forever to get our checks and finally had to get another server to go find our sever. They overcharged me for items that I had to dispute with management and they sided with the waitress who was making mistakes all night. Had all the salsa we could ask for. Ordered our meals once the waitress returned with drinks. The Fridas combination menu is a great choice. I chose Burrito and Chalupa for $8.99. Along with the free chips, I left satisfied. Overall the restaurant is plenty big with a full bar and two levels of dining room. My third meal here. It's good, solid Tex-Mex, and not just for the area - actually good. Tasty flavors, and homemade salsas. Bring your own hot sauce, though - all they had to offer in that department was Valentina. (At least it wasn't El Yucateco - I really hate that brand and its artificial coloring.) Frida's complimentary house-made chips & salsa are better than most. Their Fajitas are served sizzling on cast iron platters - generously portioned and appealing. The signature Lobster Enchiladas are quite delicious - even though the langostino meat was heavily supplemented with imitation crab (probably "seafood delight" style processed pollock if I had to guess). Just don't think you're getting a deal on the Lobster - it's not all lobster, and that's why the dish is $14, and not $34... The menus themselves were noticeably dirty, and sticky/wet with salsa and margarita scuz. It's on the managers to notice issues like this. Really kind and attentive servers. It was nice to see this place doing well - the inside was *packed* even during Omicron Covid. We sat outside on their open-air patio by choice. Finding an open-air patio like this in Gwinnett County can be challenging, as most places that have a patio in this region love to drape it in clear "weatherproof" plastic, rendering it even worse for air circulation / viral load than sitting inside the actual restaurant. I'd probably want to try the birria tacos next time as the quesabirria was super cheesey to me (makes sense, it's a quesabirria after all). The consomme was great, it was full of birria - lots of other places just give you the broth. Wife didn't finish her nachos and ended up taking it home, as we got the typical free chips and salsa. We came here based on the Yelp reviews, since this isn't our neck of the woods. Winner winner. We arrived around 5:45 on a Friday night and the place was busy. Yet we were quickly seated. Our server was Eduard and he was amazing. Friendly, yet professional. Helpful and full of personality. He checked back on us often. He was a fantastic server. Definitely an asset to the restaurant. He answered questions and gave great suggestions. We started with the queso dip and both of our kids said it was the best they had had in a long time. Our daughter had a mango margarita. And loved it. My strawberry margarita was super yummy. And my husband thoroughly enjoyed his house margarita. The chips and salsa were also great. There were two types of salsa. I loved the thick darker one. Three of us had the Burrito Asado. All three of us loved it. The steak was full of flavor and it was covered with the really good queso. Tonight's Food, service and atmosphere was all five star! Started with a free cheese dip bc of their Saturday coupon on their website! They always have coupons! My friend had Nacho Texanos with steak, chicken, and shrimp and he said it was fantastic plus it was huge! I had tostones with grilled shrimp and it too was delicious! Our server was a sweetheart offering to warm up our cheese dip a couple times for us. The manager check in with us too just making sure everything was to our liking!
