I am in town for a job interview and I was looking for someplace nearby with a great Yelp rating (3.5+) that was open. I had Mexican on the way down so I wasn't running in the mood for it tonight. But I could not find a place within about a 20 minute drive that had a great Yelp rating and was open on Monday night. There's plenty of stuff in the area, but a lot of it was suspiciously closed on Monday night. This place was just across the street from my hotel so I went in and I ordered chips and salsa to start, and then pork belly tacos. The chips and salsa were fantastic! Probably some of the best mild salsa I've ever had. The spicy salsa was tasty as well, but just a little bit beyond my heat range. I was very happy with the start to the meal, but once the pork belly tacos came out, I was in heaven. These are the best tacos I've ever had, and I've eaten a lots of tacos, and the best pork belly I've ever had. It was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. I ate it so fast that when it's finished, I thought a severe sense of disappointment that there wasn't more. The wait staff was great as well! The job I'm interviewing for is remote and I kind of hope I get it even more so that I can come down here and explore the rest of the menu. read more

A friend of mine came to town and wanted to go out for dinner. I suggested Chapo's because I enjoyed the prior visit, and I also wanted a Paloma. Now, the Paloma was just the way I liked it, However, this may have been because I was discussing with my guest how to make a Paloma, and how I preferred it with Reposado versus Blanco. I really enjoyed the Paloma, both of them, made with Reposado. My guest always goes in for the appetizers. Sliced pickled jalapenos, queso and guacamole along with the chips and salsas. She did complain that the queso needed to be stirred more. In addition to the appetizers I had the quesadilla roja. Mine was sufficient in size that I'm sure that I will have more than enough for lunch tomorrow. More important, the guacamole and the quesadilla were some of the best I've ever had. As soon as you walk in, the smell of cleaning products are overwhelming welcomes you along with a sign stating they are short staff. Last night the restaurant was less than half full at 6pm. We had to ask several times for basic things such as to refill water and napkins. The signature margs were very watery. The steak fajitas were so salty. Although the waitress was very friendly, she couldn't remember anything. The music was a nice volume until we received our meal. After that, you couldn't hear the person next to you talk let alone the person in front of you. This is The Best Mexican Food that my family has eaten. We have honestly never been disappointed with when we dine in. We love ALL the Appetizers, Street Tacos, and desserts. My only complaint is the portions of the takeout. When we dine in the portions are always too much while the takeout is nearly half the portions. A little disappointing. read more

If I were just rating the food, it would be a five star! The server was lovely personality wise. However, the service was GLACIAL! It took at least 15 min to order after we were seated. Our entrees came quickly and the food was so good and fresh. After that, everything seemed to grind to a standstill. No one came to check on us. It took over 30 min to receive dessert and we waited so long for someone to come and take our checks that we ended going up to the bar to pay. Also, the music was extremely loud. We are a regular here and we have seen a decline in food, prices, and service. We miss the the other gentleman that was in charge. This new guy (he's been here for awhile) is very unprofessional, and rude. Their prices are also outrageous. I literally only go here for the salsa. Taco and tequila on 124 is much better priced. Went by on a Friday night and it was packed as expected. The wait was about 30 mins, I was impressed with how fast they moved and still gave amazing service. Staff was totally amazing. All I encountered were kind and helpful even though they were super busy. We ordered the Del Mar tacos with shrimp, chicken fiesta bowl, and shrimp fiesta bowl. All of it was so delicious.
