Less than 17,000 miles later, my front tires had cords showing on the inside, and the rear tires were nearly bald. These tires were rated for 40,000-50,000 miles and were completely destroyed in under half that time. This was caused by a bad alignment done by Mavis. Their own employees acknowledged the uneven wear and confirmed the alignment was clearly off. I was also told by both a front desk employee and a mechanic that I was "sold a sh*t tire that doesn't belong on a full-size truck," which is unbelievable to hear after paying for new tires from a professional shop. Despite acknowledging the issue, they refused to take responsibility without the store manager's approval. The store manager, Ryan, told me he would contact corporate and promised an update by the end of the week. He never called. I had to repeatedly follow up, only to be told there was "no answer yet." Before any resolution was reached, one of the failing front tires blew out while I was driving to work, leaving me stranded on the side of the road with no drivable vehicle and no way to earn income. As a result of the unsafe condition of these tires, my truck later slid off the road and ended up in a ditch, where I was stuck for over six hours and missed an entire day of work. At that point, this situation had gone far beyond inconvenience and became a serious safety issue. After all of this, corporate's solution was to offer 25% off another set of tires, meaning I'm expected to pay again after only getting about 43% of the tire life I paid for, and I would still have to pay for another alignment--despite them acknowledging the original alignment was bad. To make matters worse, Mavis tried to blame the failure on "lack of tire rotation" and claimed vehicles should be realigned every 3-6 months, which is completely unrealistic and clearly an excuse to avoid accountability. No missed rotation causes cords to show or tires to fail this catastrophically in under 17,000 miles. I gave this shop every opportunity to do the right thing. Instead, I was ignored, misled, and left with hundreds of dollars in losses and a vehicle I no longer felt safe driving. If you value your safety, your money, or a shop that stands behind its work, do not go to Mavis Discount Tire in Newark.

As an owner of multiple Porsches, including four 1972-73 911s, I asked very typical questions regarding the car for sale: car's pedigree, matching numbers for chassis, motor and transmission, number of previous owners, modification history and what justifies the astronomic asking price. Dan sheepishly retreated that car was just listed, and he had no answers for me. I pointed out all the modifications: non-original twin-plug motor, WEVO shifter, steering wheel, dash (from 1980s 911SC), improper dash color (should be black) and non-original tachometer. I asked Dan point-blank how they could be asking nearly a quarter million dollars for this car. Dan was tongue-tied. Mind you, Dan was very polite and acknowledged all of the aforementioned points I made. I told him that I hope he takes this back to management because if they do not amend this listing, they will have serious issues with their reputation, especially among the regional Porsche community (Porsche Club of America). Until they effect these changes and promptly, I would approach this establishment with great caution.
