It's First Friday! This was a great day/evening for it. The weather was nice, lightly breezy, with music, vendors, food trucks, bubbles, and a beautiful fountain that changed color when the sun set. The event was from 5-9:30. The Blood Mobile was there accepting blood donors, there was a table for financial literacy, pediatric clinic, vet table, bubbles, face painting, and music! I ordered a vegetable pancit, early on, which was tasty and could stand more seasoning and vegetables. Later I ordered a green curry with vegetables and tofu over jasmine rice with a spice level of 6! It was SPICY! Yes!!! I had a great night! Thanks @JaxParks! read more

Visited Friendship Fountain and honestly it was one of those spots that just feels good to be at without trying too hard. The fountain itself is huge and impressive when it's running, with water shooting up and moving in these patterns that make it weirdly calming to just sit and watch. It has that "you could stay here way longer than planned" kind of vibe, especially with the river right there and the open space all around it. My family and I just hung out nearby, walked along the water, and let the kids run around while we took in the view. It is one of those places where nobody is in a rush and everyone is just kind of enjoying the moment. The whole area feels peaceful but still active enough that there's always something to look at--boats passing, people walking, and the fountain doing its thing like the centerpiece of it all. Five stars. Perfect mix of relaxing, pretty views, and a great spot in Jacksonville to just slow down and enjoy the day. read more

I have childhood pictures at this fountain at nighttime when the beautiful fountain was lit up during a show. I revisited the fountain during the day and the surrounding area was under construction. The fountain is still visible and you can walk around it. The St. John's river view is definitely worth the visit. I spent a fun short while with my family and got more pictures. read more

Friendship fountain has become such a staple in Jacksonville. It is such a nice park. They have plenty areas for the kids to play or if you would like to sit in a rocking chair you can enjoy the water. They usually do a light show which involves lights, synchronizing music such as classical and pop music. There's also a trail that you can walk and walk along the St. John's river. And you can also park your car there and then walk the bridge if you were going to the bridge connect to downtown. I know that they also have the 904 walk club that does that as well. And I feel like that it is such a nice place where you can relax and get to see different size of the city. They also host sipping stroller, which I believe is on a Thursday and they have different food vendors and people playing music and jazz and the bar and it just seem to it shows the unity of the city. read more

The recent improvements to Friendship Fountain have made it a much more enjoyable space for community events. I love the addition of the playground and the new restroom facilities, and there is plenty of seating available. While the pergola with built-in speakers is a nice touch, it provides very little shade; I'd love to see more shade structures added, similar to the pavilions in the playground area. The accessible drinking fountain and the connection to the miles-long riverwalk are great perks. Just a tip for visitors: parking can get quite crowded during events, so I recommend arriving early to secure a spot. read more

I took my sister to Friendship Fountain on a Saturday evening to catch one of the light and music shows. Boy was it packed lol. I had no idea there would be several food trucks and a bar/refreshment tent. There was a nice size playground right beside the fountain which was also close to the St Johns River. We strolled on River Walk under the Main Street Bridge. We didn't have to go far and we found a bench to sit down and relax away from the crowd. Then we stopped by the fountain for a few minutes before we headed out. The fountain show was nice and if you find the right spot (down wind) you can get sprayed with water which will cool you off on a hot day. read more

We saw this amazing little treasure in Jacksonville at the end of December 2024 on a pretty sunny day and also the next night so that we could see both day and night water shows. There is no charge for the shows. They are incredible and you actually feel cleansed inside from stress of daily life. It gave me a great feeling! Friendship Fountain is located in St. Johns River Park (a/k/a Friendship Park), on the south bank of the river, just west of Main Street. The park provides a wonderful view of downtown Jacksonville and access to the Southbank Riverwalk that opened in 1985. In addition, the Jacksonville Maritime Museum is located on the Riverwalk, adjacent to the northeast corner of the park. There us a museum there as well as a little restaurant. Spend a couple of hours here, you won't regret it. The fountain flows from 8:00 am to 10 pm daily. Showtimes are 7:00, 8:00 and 9:00 pm nightly. There is parking available at the park. We plan to go back again later this year. read more

Finally visited friendship fountain the first Friday of June this past weekend. It was a Hot one, but well worth spending some time right by the water. I went before sundown which of course is a vibe, but once the sun does go down, the lights from the fountain Really glow and it's spectacular with the music! Bring your family and friends, this is a welcoming spot for all. Parking can be slightly tricky depending on the time you get here but I promise it's well worth it! You can bring your own chairs but you don't have too. During the summer months, I do advise you bring some sort of personal fan, water, and or sunscreen/bug spray. I didn't end up using my bug spray but I did have it on hand just in case since it's right on the water. This past weekend they had two dessert trucks, and one food truck. I'm hoping in the future more food truck options come through. This is a very nice feature. read more

I love our new Friendship Fountain! It was under construction when moving here, and I had no idea how awesome it really is! The new light show with music plays every night at 8 pm and is really spectacular. I can't believe it's free! I jog around the fountain and on the riverwalk often, and they maintain it really well. The Jacksonville Run Club meets at the fountain almost every Saturday at 7 am for a free group run. They also have different events here each month like happy hour, sip and stroll, silent disco, yoga, and more. A great place for the community! read more

I was looking for something to do and decided to go to Friendship Fountain since it reopened. One word: Beautiful. It really is an addition to the River area. Showtimes were at 8, 830 and 9. It was very busy but mostly with families. Visit on any day of the week to catch the lights. read more

I have been coming here since I was a little girl. We have almost lost the fountain over the years, due to expensive repairs needed to keep it going. As I write this, it might be off or broken again. I pray they keep it. It is so beautiful during the day and especially at night. All of the bright lights and colors is very nice. My husband, Ernie and I got married here on Easter Sunday 8 years ago. I have happy memories here. I pray the city does not tear this down too! read more

Did you know that the Friendship Fountain was, at its opening in 1965, the world's largest and tallest fountain? I read this fact in a tweet the other day and it got me thinking about all the cool things we have near Downtown/San Marco that we take for granted. The Friendship Fountain definitely qualifies! Just a skip and a hop onto the Jacksonville Southbank Riverwalk in San Marco and you'll find yourself staring at this behemoth of a fountain. With a 200ft basin holding more than half-a-million gallons of water you can't help but appreciate it. The city does a very good job of keeping the fountain itself and the surrounding areas clean however it's not often in working order. There have only been a handful of times I went where it was running. The Friendship Fountain offers a large and beautiful outdoor space right on the riverbank and I sure hope the COJ continues to keep it maintained and in working order. With so much to do in the immediate area it would be a real shame to sit by and let it go to waste like we do with almost every other outdoor space in Jacksonville! read more

Friendship Fountain is a great stop for a view of the river, downtown skyline, bridges and boats. It's a great photo spot, but also has picnic tables, trees with shade, and plenty of space to take a picnic. It's also on the walking path of the Riverwalk, and can make a nice path for people on a lunch break or for kids before an appointment at nearby Nemours like we did. Parking is easy most days, and nearby spots include MOSH and River City Brewing for a full outing with kids or adults. read more

I just have to give our little fountain 5 stars. I agree with our sweet Julie A...... it's not the Bellagio Fountains in Vegas, but it's all we've got and I appreciate the heck out of it. Thank you, Jacksonville, for keeping it going for us! I have been to this fountain countless times. I especially like to come about an hour before the sun sets. It's a great view of downtown and our many bridges. It's really cool to watch the sun go down and see all the bridges light up, as well as seeing the fountain lights comes on. They shine the most beautiful colours on the fountains. When we are lucky, they even have music playing. I also dabble in amateur photography and this is a great place to take photos. I'll often bring my DLSR and tripod down here and set up and take shots for several hours. It's a very beautiful and relaxing spot here in the city. If you haven't taken the time to actually go down to the fountain.... DO IT! =) read more

This is where you go when you're in town and you can't afford the airfare but you want to pretend you're standing in front of the Bellagio Fountains in Vegas. (OK.. OK.. That's probably a bit farfetched, but it's the closest thing we have here. Haha) Friendship Fountain used to be pretty low-key a few years ago, but they've fixed the fountain and now it rocks! The fountains are capable of spraying 110 feet into the air. As opposed to the measly setup they had a few years ago where it barely had any height. I saw this fountain a few nights ago while standing across the river at the Jacksonville Landing, and I could see the colors changing and the water spraying high into the air. Pretty cool sight! We visited again today and it was hot, but the mist from the fountain was refreshing. The surrounding park looked really nice, as well. There were plenty of places to sit and more green. A lot more visitor-friendly than it used to be. Wow, Cari S., pointed out some cool facts. "Did you know that when Friendship Fountain debuted in 1965 it was the world's largest and tallest fountain??! It sprayed water 120 feet into the air!" Well it seems like it comes pretty close to its original height, but it no longer holds the largest and tallest record. That's OK. I'll be back in Vegas soon enough. But until then, I have a new picnic spot with great views of the river. read more

Currently under construction but the great views of the city and access to the Southbank Riverwalk make it worth the trip. My kids enjoyed biking and running around in the area. Not a far walk from my hotel, and I decided to be touristy and check out what I could in the area. Unfortunately, Jacksonville is extremely hot in the summer so going in the day isn't such a great idea if you're walking. Not much shade at all but there are benches to sit. I came back at night and it's a lovely little walk. Cute for date night and walking from here down the river walk not a bad trade off. Friendship Fountain is a nice place to visit if you happen to be on your way to MOSH, having lunch at River City or just admiring downtown from the water. We went this past summer when the river ferry was still running. There are convenient areas to sit or just stand near the fountain and watch the water dance up during the day or enjoy a light show at night. On several occasions, I was able to get some great shots of the water fountains in all its glory and it's a terrific spot to snap some photos of downtown Jacksonville and the Landing. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to appreciate the true beauty of our river city! read more

Early November. A little while before sunset. A cool breeze. Sounds of crashing waves. Now tell me if that isn't the perfect scenario to visiting Friendship Fountain. It was truly amazing. Also, make sure you go around the fountain to a little ramp where you can almost walk side by side with the river, and enjoy the mirror wall, which was done in 2015, if my memory is accurate. Now, I'm not too sure about visiting in the summer, because you can bet that it will be hot and humid (shoutout to Florida). A note about the parking: MOSH &a the brewery next door share a parking lot, and it says online that part of it is free, and the rest is paid. I came on a Sunday, and the gate was broken, meaning anyone can park in there free. Bonus! Definitely coming back for longer walks in this beautiful weather. read more

I honestly feel like this is a forgotten treasure! Every time I am in the area- the fountain is near empty. But the view of downtown and the river from this spot is simply breathtaking! I came here at night and the daytime pictures do not do it justice. Regardless of the time you come, this place is a beautiful Jacksonville landmark. At night the lights of the fountain and the gorgeous Jacksonville skyline combine to be an amazing view. Just walking around the fountain and walking over to the bay is so relaxing. I am happy to see what the Friendship Fountain looks like today. The site has come a long way since what it look like a couple of years ago. The place is good for a first date, to just walk around and get to know someone, while looking & maybe hearing the live music coming from The Landing. You can also take a water taxi over to the landing from that area too. But it's just a nice quiet place to relax and take in the scenery. The fountain is very beautiful with changing colors and the water reaching different heights. It's definitely a must see. read more
