When I moved across town and had to find a new chiropractor after 20 years, I was skeptical that I'd be lucky enough to find another great one. Well Friendship Heights Chiropractic proved me wrong from the very first visit. I'm so thankful for them! When I walked in for my first appointment in Jan 2024 I could barely walk. Dr. Hancock listened carefully, asked me questions, and was even able to take xrays right then...and then interpreted/showed/explained them to me just minutes later. When I walked out that day I felt about 90% better. I'm still being treated for the issue I had in January (it was pretty bad because I'd waited so long to seek treatment) but after many appointments I can say that I've never waited more than 1 minute. In fact, I'm usually about 5 minute early and they take me back right away! Typically, I sign in, am sent right to one of the rooms to get stretched out for a few minutes, and then Dr Hancock comes in immediately. He's kept me informed on my progress and has recommended quick and easy exercises, and realistic adjustments to my daily habits that have had a big impact on my daily experience and healing. Most of my "regular adjustment" appointments last just 15 minutes...so I can even schedule them on my lunch hour. The receptionist is always very welcoming, friendly, and quick. She and the office manager do a FANTASTIC job of keeping on top of what's needed for insurance, and they do the work of submitting for approval...they are so efficient! The office is in a larger building which has a convenient parking lot in back. Parking can be validated by either the grocery store (Rodman's) or the gym next door. Furthermore, I was open for an evaluation just not a X-Ray. I don't think it's necessary to get an X-Ray when I'm perfectly fine, healthy, and exhibiting no signs of pain. Dr. Hancock is an extremely thoughtful and precise chiropractor. He carefully reviews the patient's situation, condition and desire for level of treatment. He takes careful and deliberate steps as one begins treatment. By that, I mean he gently gears his treatment to prevent doing too much too fast, so the patient is not overwhelmed with excessive treatment and put into possible discomfort at the beginning of the process when one starts on as a new patient. His expertise, in my opinion, is centered about a holistic longer-term approach of adjustments looking over a designed period of time to get long standing results. (I am now on my 5th appointment since I first joined his practice as a client, and after being x-rayed and analyzed.) All of his mini adjustments have been subtle in how my body has responded, in that after a 4 week period, I have gently become aware of my having more daily flexibility, agility, and range of motion. (Neck and lower back have been my issues and what he is targeting to "fix" for me.) His treatments have positively snuck up on me, because several of my issues have lifted without my dwelling on results on a day-to-day basis. There is no question that Dr. Hancock cares about his clients. He is very warm and very professional too. He answers all of my questions thoroughly when I ask highly specific inquiries. Dr. Hancock is very efficient with his client's time, so if you have to have adjustments during a workday schedule you will find this extremely helpful. The office, itself, is run in a very efficient manner and waiting time is minimal. (I have never waited more than 10 minutes for treatment and on those visits, I had to fill out forms. Most visits I have been seen within 5 minutes from singing in.) As a new client, I have been treated very kindly and I have nothing but nice things to say about Friendship Heights Chiropractic care. I had at least 3 friends refer me to Dr. Hancock at FHC, and I'm so glad I listened to them. I've been working with them for years, and at this point it's hard to remember how bad it was before I arrived. I'd worked with chiropractors since I was a teen, but a few bad experiences had soured me. Luckily for me FHC has been a complete 180. Pricing has always been explained in advance, and the team has worked with me to make treatment affordable when needed. My treatment plan was discussed before we began - a 6 month plan laid out in the first day! - and then followed to the letter. I have never waited more than 5 minutes to get in a room, and they're always gracious when I arrive late. The entire team is SO kind and friendly - the website friendlydoc.com is so accurate. What really makes the difference for me is Dr. Hancock, as I've only worked with him. He takes the time to listen, to answer my questions, to adjust my treatment plan, and to make sure I'm feeling my best. When I go on road trips he makes sure to pay extra attention to my lower back. When I'm working long hours at the office he works out the tension in my mouse click arm. When I'm holding awkward physicality in a show he'll adjust my treatment plan to make the character work easier before and after performances (he's even come to a show to see what I was putting my body through!). He is an AMAZING doctor for performers - he really understands the work we do, and how to treat us so we can be our best and keep performing. When I started I was coming in 2 to 3 times a week, and we worked our way to visits once or twice a month. I came to Friendship Heights Chiropractic with insistent lower back pain. Under the care of Dr. Hancock, I was able to recover my full range of movement within a month or so. During this time, Dr. Hancock gave me progressively more exercises to do to strengthen my core and avoid making my injury a recurring one. Let me clarify for those reviewers who may be thinking of going to this office for a visit. My husband was the patient, I accompanied him to the exam where they insisted that we owed, I owed $200+ dollars for the free consultation. My husband has been unable to work for three plus years and so all conversations regarding treatment and payment were through me, at the time I was unemployed and we went to the office trying to find relief for my husband due to his intense pain. After the unfortunate incident, I spoke with Dr. Connelly and he offered to take $50 dollars off. Which did nothing to remedy the situation and further created ill feelings since we were never told we would have to pay for this free consultation until we were at the front desk. They made it seem as if we were trying to get free treatment. They failed to acknowledge their fault in this matter. My husband looking to ease the situation, assured the office that once we did obtain insurance for my husband we would come to the office .........which he did for 7 treatments however the Chiropractor was a kind man but did not provide relief for my husband. For months following my husband's last visit we were called asking for payment (if the charge was removed, I would love to know that - that was never communicated to us). The visits did not imply satisfaction but patience to see if this chiropractor could assist my husband in his care. FACT: My husband is a former chiropractic assistant and has over 10+ years in this field, I am also a longtime chiropractic advocate and have scoliosis so we are well versed in understanding the level of surface at varying offices and those that are truly concerned about a patients' health. I believe that reviews are helpful for businesses to review their practices and to improve. They might be a great place for others but they weren't for us. I cannot help but wonder why they did not provide all around compassionate care, especially at the first visit - as for me that set the tone for the relationship and it never got better. Additionally, Dr. Connelley texted me and left me a voicemail to call him back after I placed this review. I was in a hit-and-run car accident in Los Angeles (rear ended, then the other vehicle just drove off) before I moved to D.C. in 2008. I decided to go to Friendship Heights Chiropractic for treatment because they are located close to my office. What a mistake. Dr. Windsor reminds me of a clone from The Stepford Wives. She was very mechanical in regard to her communication with me, and none of it was sincere. The treatment was also very mechanical. I told her at the very beginning that I have a sensitive condition on my right ear (a preauricular ear cyst -- something I was born with and that I cannot really treat) and that I would appreciate it if she wouldn't place her hand on my right ear when doing one of her adjustments. I had to remind her CONSTANTLY not to do this. When I forgot to remind her during one of our appointments, she, naturally, pushed on my right ear. It was very, very painful. An abscess grew shortly thereafter because of the pressure she had put on it, and I had to deal with more medical bills and medications because of her oversight. I stopped seeing them after this incident, especially because Dr. Windsor did not apologize to me and said that it was my fault that I had this cyst which was "in her way" (I was born with the cyst -- what can I do? That's like telling a Down's Syndrome child not to look at you like that). Dr. Windsor, your feigned sincerity is disgusting. I'm sure if I was a handsome, middle-aged single (or married) WASP man with a huge bank account and a house in the Hamptons, I would have received better attention and consideration. Don't waste your time or money on this place. I came for treatment, and I left with even more health problems than I started with. read more

Rack 'em and Crack 'em. This is what it feels like here these days. And there is a suspicious revolving door of doctors... I have been going to chiropractors since high school so I'm very familiar with the benefits of chiropractic care. My mother worked for a group and my sister actually married one. Unfortunately none of them are local so when a friend recommended Dr. Jensen several years ago, I tried FHC. Dr Jensen is fantastic! But over the years, I've been bounced around to several different doctors for a variety of reasons. Some I've liked, some I have not - every chiropractor seems to have his/her own style. Recently I was thrilled to be under the care of Dr. Moses Ogbenmudia. But he, like so many other doctors in this practice over the years, mysteriously moved one within one year. I can't help but wonder if its because of the rack em and crack em mentality that is more and more evident here these days. They have it down to a fine art. And if you're a doctor who dislikes this system/style, of course you will move on quickly. Angelica, one of the receptionists, is robotic in cycling through patients. Per visit, I'm lucky to get 3 minutes total of face time with the doctor. Heaven forbid I have a question about my care - literally the doctor will have one foot out the door while answering it (another 6 patients waiting, I assume). I've also often had the feeling that they over prescribe treatment plans. Like I've noted, I've been under chiropractic care for many years, but FHC plans are the most excessive I've experienced. In some cases, I've simply self-modified by making the number of appointments I've felt necessary with perfectly fine results. And don't get me started on the creepiness of Dr Hancock. I can't even stand to be in the same room with the guy - something about him sets the creep meter right off and I would rather be adjusted by Frankenstein than have him anywhere near me....I can't say exactly what it is about him...just gut reactions, which I've learned to trust. And of course he's the one doctor that's stuck around. What does that tell you? All in all, I think I'm ready for a new chiropractor. read more

I used to do real estate settlements in the same building, and when I complained of a sore back some clients said that they came for monthly appointments at Friendship Heights Chiropractic. I'd never done it before, but figured I'd give it a whirl. I went in and talked to the folks, and found out they worked well with my healthcare plan and that a lot of costs would be covered. They saw me pretty quickly and took my x-rays, and of course diagnosed a "subluxation" (surprise, surprise). That visit ended up costing me $150. The doctor prescribed thrice weekly treatments, starting immediately. So, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I would truck down the three floors to their office, where I would be instructed to lie, face down, on the traction table. Mmm...the traction table. It's this little mechanical table that would slowly stretch my back by moving my legs up and down. I similar (though not as good-feeling) effect can be had by rolling back and forth on your stomach on one of those giant balance balls. After about 15 minutes of this, a doctor would come in and crack my back and neck, spending about three minutes total in the room. I'm not going to lie, it felt great. I slept better in those two months than I had in ages, and I had a ton more energy. They moved me down from three treatments to two, and then eventually one. However, I told them that my insurance would only cover a certain amount of treatments per year and that I wanted to cut back earlier. The response I got was that that would be breaking the prescription and that they'd stop seeing me. It felt good, you know, like crack. Addictive as hell, a short high, and it kills your pocketbook. After getting the bill, only put out once monthly, for my $700 in back payments, I had severe sticker shock. Only then did I find out I was paying ~$75/session to be seen for 3 minutes and have someone hit the on switch on an automated table. They also charged me for two sessions that I had canceled well in advance. In the end, I wish that they'd have been more upfront with me about the costs, and more flexible when I wanted to change my treatment. If I could figure out how to buy one of those tables...it'd be worth every penny, but paying more than $250/week for the three minutes they were snapping my back was insane. read more

My initial chiropractic treatment was with this practice a few years ago. Having sweet insurance, I got a slew of x-rays and decent evals, and was set on a plan of 3x week for a month. Lot of effort, but I went through with it. I found the actual adjustments were just fine, and at first she would do some traction or manual therapy on a few areas of concern, but as I continued going, I got less and less face time with the doc to the point that I might see her for 2-4 mins in a visit as part of an assembly line of people. it just felt like they took me for granted after a while, and that sucks - I was still paying the same $$ as when I started there, right? So 4/5 stars for the actual chiro care and excellent scheduling and insurance help. -1 for fading out towards the end. I ended up finding a different chiro closer to me a few years later, no hard feelings. read more

I had started going to Friendship Heights Chiropractic during my last year in college. I met Dr. Windsor when she came to my campus, and boy, was I glad she did! I had suffered an injury to my upper back due to my very, very heavy back pack; and I'm also a sufferer of chronic headaches & migraines. I received nothing but great care from Dr. Windsor; she treated me not just as a patient, but as a friend. She even encouraged me to keep up with dance, which was something I was worried about. Wonderful doc! During the few times Dr. Windsor was out of office, Dr. Connelly took care of me, and his treatment was excellent as well. All of the doctors were extremely friendly (though I think some have left since I stopped going), and the front office staff is really cool. Now that I'm back in California, I miss this place! I love my chiropractor here at home, but I miss the great treatment I received at FHC. read more
