Been here twice now, and both times left feeling refreshed and in less pain. I go for the hour total body massage, which unlike most massage places, they include your scalp and face in that not just back, arms, legs, and feet. It's $85, and they do not skimp you on time. Rooms are private with walls and a curtain. So you can still hear other rooms, but it's not loud. They have quiet relaxing music playing, and they offer you a water bottle afterwards. Zen had given me a discount card at a previous visit. It didn't have an expiration date. I was looking forward to using it. When I tried to use it earlier this week, they would not honor it. When it was time to pay, the person at the desk immediately deducted the correct amount. Then they paused and took a photo of it and sent it to who I am assuming is the boss. The boss wrote back and said they would not accept it. They said it needed to be used within a few weeks of being given. But as I tried to show and explain to them there was no date of issue on it and no expiration on it. They still said they would not accept it even though they agreed that they had given it to me. The massage itself was fine. But the experience with the discount card that they had given to me has made me decide to not use this place again. A business should honor their own cards. read more

I used to go these foot massages in california and still miss them here but it's so far to go find a place up north coming from bethesda. This is right in the middle of friendship heights and they validate for parking. Big bonus for the staff all being trained to do the same routine. They can be pretty forceful on the pressure points. Feels nice though. I've never had issues calling in for an appmt and they have bottles of water for customers. The massage tables are behind separated stalls. OMG! Olga was amazing! When I first saw her, I said to myself, she is too tiny for the deep tissue I need for my back, boy did she shut me up. She may be tiny, but very strong. She was very skillful with my focus areas and asked all the right and quantity of questions. She provided light Reflexology(as that is another service) in the mix of the massage, so I was very grateful. I elected to walk 6 miles to this appointment and was very pleased I got serviced by Olga. The only light downfall is that the "rooms" are separated by a wall, they are not enclosed. So you can hear other people getting serviced if they are loud. As one person chose not to utilize her silent option on her phone. You don't need an appointment, and from the time you walk in, you are pleasantly greeted and taken care of. Post massage, you offered a bottle of water and they don't try to sell "would you like to make an appointment to come in?" Yet, I already knew I was making another with Olga, so after I did, I inquired about any specials such as birthdays so I could plan ahead for my annual massage, and the Manager/Owner told me to just let anyone know when the time comes around. He then came back and asked if it was my birthday by chance, I said yes and he gave me a Gift Certificate on the spot for my next visit! The atmosphere is full of Zen, hence the name, the interior design has tranquilly written all over it and the wishing well/water fountain was a nice added touch. They have these little stalls almost with curtains drawn around them so it's not high frills. I opted for the back only because, full disclosure, I hadn't shaved my legs and I'm a heavily socialized 21st century woman. She did lots of work on my lower back, though, so I hope you're not shy because she still moved down my pants like halfway down my... you get the picture. If you go and don't want to be laying face down 3/4 naked, wear full coverage underwear. I was a little surprised by that haha. I asked for light pressure and not sure what hard would be like because light was still pretty intense. But overall an awesome experience and well with it. I felt relaxed just sitting there waiting for my session to begin. The reflexology session was relaxing. The massage was delightful. The pressure was good. One of my pet peeves when getting any kind of service done is Too.Much.Small.Talk.That said, what I especially liked about this place was that there was no to minimal chatting and it was all about the service. My masseuses used her skill to find the knots and applied the right amount of pressure to work them out. So, all I had to do was relax and let her work her magic. For the price I paid I figure this was too good to be true. I was seen by Olga. I told her I needed a full or total body with emphasis on my legs. I run 10Ks and 1/2 marathons, my legs are my bread & butter. She stretched me out and worked on my legs that I didn't mind the pain. Great session. He always goes to ZEN for 2 hours with Julia when he is in a need of deep tissue massage. I came for an hour but extended my session to 90 minutes. The pressure was right what my body needed. Because I do a lot of sports my muscles are always tight and sore. That was my first time with Julia but she had found all the problem areas right away and worked on them hard, applying the right techniques of the deep tissue. I used to visit Zen every now and again because I had another place that was a little cheaper. Well, they closed so now Zen is my regular massage relief. They do a great job, are super clean, and are worth the price because they always manage to get the kinks out. The workers are super nice, you can just walk in, and they also offer validated parking in the garage right behind them. There is also punch card for frequent visitors where you can eventually earn a free massage. As with anything, some girls are better than others but you will rarely ever walk out of there not feeling better and if you do be sure to tell the owner. There is no waiting (although truth to tell I'm there mid afternoon and the price is fair. I have been to Zen a number of times and by far the best massage practitioner has been Eva. I have tried several of the practitioners and they are all good. But Eva has been consistently the best. She has an intuitive sense about which muscle groups need the work and focuses on these. I spend many hours on the computer each day for work. Despite my best efforts to practice ergonomics, I have neck/shoulder issues. Eva knows how to work the knots out. The ambiance is relaxing, there is adequate privacy and the prices are reasonable.
