I'll start by saying Dr. Moore is great! I'd really love for my kids to keep seeing her. Unfortunately, their wait times are just too long. We've been over a dozen times, and all but one of those appointments we've had significant waits. On two occasions we waited for over an hour in the exam room after initially seeing the nurse. This would probably be doable if my kids were older but it does not work for toddlers/ babies. We walked out of the office earlier this week after waiting for over an hour for an appointment for our 1-month-old. Dr. Moore called that night and left a very nice message apologizing, so we decided to give them one more shot. I called 30 minutes before today's makeup appointment to confirm they were on time. After being put on hold, the receptionist said they were running behind. I asked if I should come in 30 minutes after the scheduled start, and she said they were "like really behind" and asked if I could come in this evening to see another doctor. As much as we love Dr. Moore, we're going to have to find another pediatrician for our kids. I really hope Children's National recognizes this issue with wait times/ overscheduling/ lack of communication with patients. I feel bad for Dr. Moore and their staff who deal with this daily. If Dr. Moore ends up leaving for another practice, I hope she reaches out! We'd love for our kids to continue seeing her. read more

TLDR: care is good, admin is not We took our daughter to Friendship Pediatrics from birth to 18 months. We eventually left out of a combination of finding a more conveniently located practice and frustration with the administrative side of Friendship. Care: We were completely happy with the care we received from the various providers, particularly Dr. Moore (she's great!). Admin: 1) Even though we typically booked the very first appointment in the morning, we often had to wait to be seen and so 30-minute well visits often ran over an hour. 2) Getting the standard DC-required forms completed for day care enrollment took nearly 3 weeks and a few follow-up emails (it's a 5-minute form). 3) Friendship mis-coded an insurance claim and balance-billed us when the claim was rejected saying it was the insurance's fault. We paid $200 for preventative care that should have been covered by insurance because we didn't know better. Friendship has failed to correct the billing mistake and reimburse us despite us doing the work to look at multiple bills and figure out the coding mistake ourselves. read more

Dr. "D" is fantastic! I couldn't ask for a better pediatrician. Prett and I truly trust and adore her. My daughter often reminds us that she's off the sweet drinks because Dr. "D" said so. She took the time to explain milk and water were Prett's healthiest choices for fluids. We are still going strong one year later:). She is also extremely good at articulating the plan of care. Dr. "D" has even offered guidance to help us navigate puberty, and has reassured Prett that all the changes (emotionally and physically) were normal - emphasizing that eating right, sleeping well, and exercising, were key to a good healthy mental state. Her assistants Faith and Julie have friendly demeanors, and are always so helpful. We've had wonderful experiences and still having great ones. read more

It has taken me months to get over the rage I felt from my experience with this clinic. Let me set the scene for you. I had given birth TWO DAYS PRIOR to bringing my 2 day old baby into this clinic. I had had a natural birth,but was extremely sore and in pain. I came in with my baby and the front office staff ignored me as they had an unprofessional conversation. I waited patiently and finally got checked in. After 20 minutes we were taken back and waited for.. wait for it.. TWO HOURS TO SEE THE DOCTOR! immediately coming postpartum, emotional and in pain, you'd think they would have some courtesy for new mothers. They didn't. I kept asking "how much longer will this take" and they said "this doctor is known for making patients wait." Every minute I sat in those plastic uncomfortable chairs I got more and more mad. My brand new daughter was being exposed to illness after being born only 2 days. The nurse comes in and roughly sticks a thermometer in my newborns anus and she shrieked in pain! Remember this for later in the story! Finally the doctor saunters in, unapologetically, and roughly handles my baby to do her exam. She had lost 7% of her body weight in the hospital which was normal and hadn't had a bowel movement in 48 hrs (which I later found out was normal) but as a new parent I wanted to inquire about these things, as I was worried. The doctor provided zero comfort-- she argued with me about the birth weight calculation even though the hospital had JUST TOLD ME she lost 7% but because the lady didn't know the difference between 6.7 lbs and 6 lbs 7 oz she couldn't figure it out (I later confirmed that she was wrong). She then said "no bowel movement and slightly jaundice-- this is serious we need to do testing" -- that was complete bull and another pediatrician confirmed she was trying to do testing to get my money! In fact the hospital that had JUST released me said she couldn't even be classified as jaundice but to keep her in the sun cause she had a "hint" of it-- imagine the stress and anxiety I feel as a first time mom with postpartum depression being told that my baby needed testing only to find out she I wasn't true! At that time my 2 day old baby started to cry terribly-- I was new to breast feeding but immediately tried in that moment because she was hungry-- as I scrambled to remember what the lactation consultant taught me, the doctor said "go ahead I want to see how you're doing this because if you're doing it wrong that might be why the baby is losing weight"-- are you serious!? I knew for a fact my baby was gaining weight and eating plenty (she's now a healthy 14lbs!) and to put that kind of pressure on me while she watched was terrible! Finally, remember that thermometer? When the doctor checked she said "your baby has a small tear in her anus... have you noticed that?" At this point I was FURIOUS!! Not only had you made me wait 2 hrs after just giving birth, argued with me about my babies weight and made me feel that all my concerns were way worse than they were, but her stupid nurse hurt my baby in the process!! I was literally scrambling to get my baby's jacket on and in the car seat and said to my husband, "we are leaving NOW!" The doctor followed behind saying "wait I'm concerned about your babies health what about the testing" I said "I'm going to take her somewhere else TODAY somewhere where mothers are respected and not treated with apathy and contempt! Please beware and don't waste your time!! I went to another pediatrician the same day who was warm, saw me immediately, and alleviated all my fears-- it's called Kenwood Pediatrics. Do NOT go here if your a new mom because this place is horrible! read more

My child has seen Dr. Goldstein for many years and she has been terrific about laying out various options and maintaining supportive interactions with myself and child. I have visited other pediatricians in the area and have found all of them inadeqate compared to this doctor. This practice does not spend much money on the decor and waiting room and the front office experience is not brilliant but has been okay. read more

We had been with this practice since my daughter was born (she's 7 now), but we've decided it's time for a change. While the location is convenient, and I've found the doctors and nurses to be perfectly competent, the front desk staff often seems indifferent, and the whole experience feels pretty impersonal. But what has finally made me leave this practice is the difficulty of scheduling an annual checkup/well visit. I called in early June to request a summer appointment for my daughter and was told that "we're scheduling in September." Well, since I need my daughter's health records to be updated before the start of the new school year, this simply won't do. The day their office received a fax from the new pediatrician requesting that her records be transferred, they called to tell me that an appointment had opened up for that afternoon. Drs. Brasch and Goldstein are great. They take the time needed for good medical care and warm connection, so important in a pediatric practice. Unlike the other reviewers, I found the office staff, and especially the nurse we usually see, to be good, too -- professional and kind. They do set limits, so don't expect walk-in service, but they will make sure your kiddo gets seen the same day if it's urgent. I do agree that parking and navigating to the office the first time can be a bit confusing, but better than many places in congested Chevy Chase. read more

Dr.Goldstein is great, but NOT always available. The nurses are good. That said we had bad experiences with other doctors at the same practice. And when I said bad I mean really BAD. The two times my kids had an emergency or a last minute issue we didn't get any help. The only thing we got was a wrong diagnosis. Also the front desk staff is very rude, condescending and often incompetent. The parking lot is beyond creepy and... guess what you have to call the unfriendly front desk to tell them you are there!! I can hardly articulate how terrible this office is. I should have never come back after my first visit. They are truly beyond all belief. They are also horrible about allowing you to see medical records or tests results. NOBODY calls you about results. Worse, they refuse to give you the results by the phone unless you speak with a doctor (even though is a legal right as a parent to be provided with your children's medical records). And guess what? the doctors are never available for phone calls or never return your calls so back to square one. Meanwhile you have a child who is getting worse with no plan/treatment at all...just plain horrible. read more

I agree with the previous review. At first 2 of the doctors were so nice we were able to overlook the very rude, condescending and often incompetent staff. But it just got to be too much. They are horrible about allowing you to see medical records, they are consistently disrespectful, and though we have called several times when we needed to speak with a doctor, there have been 2 times we just went to urgent care because the doctor never called us back. Also, it's HIGHLY unprofessional for receptionists and nurses to come to work SICK. If you are a healthcare provider or work in a medical practice, it is UNETHICAL to me to be coughing, sneezing and blowing your nose as you check in newborns and infants. read more

Both of our children are treated here, and our daughter was born with special needs, so I am very picky when selecting her care providers. The physicians are great - careful, and thorough. They take their time and listen to you and are thoughtful in their guidance. I have never had a problem with the office staff. I am also a huge fan of their nurses. When my infant son needed a blood draw, which is incredibly difficult to do on a 2 week old, they were so patient, even though he was screaming. Yes, the parking garage isn't ideal, but honestly - this is your kids health we're talking about. Who cares about parking, when the doctors are good (and tell me one parking garage in Chevy Chase/Friendship heights that isn't awful). read more

I've been taking my daughter here since she was a baby for almost two years. She sees dr. D (really long name so we just call her dr D). No issues so far. The doctor is so great I really like how kind and attentive she is with my daughter. She listens to every single concern I have and takes her time to make us feel comfortable. We've also seen dr. Brasch. I had heard she was rude but again no issues at all. Her personality can be a little strong but in no way did it affect her care towards my daughter. I also had one emergency one time in which they took us in immediately. Yes sometimes there is a wait which can be annoying but the pros weigh out the cons for me. read more

I am happy to have left, although the doctors are fine. I cringed every time I had to call the front support staff or had to interact with them. I also wished they had a nurse practitioner that could see quick cases like ear infections. Its not enough these days to have good doctors when there are many choices even "in network". If I were them, I would take a hard look at their support staff. read more
