Sandy, the owner, is always smiling, friendly, and stays busy with her clients and actively managing her store! Since my comments in 2017, she successfully built out the extra space and it's fantastic! For years now, although the salon is typically busy, it does not feel cramped, or overly packed. The staff are constantly busy, be is sweeping, greeting, cutting/coloring/styling, doing consultations, helping each other! The young ladies working the reception area are always so friendly, smiling, and helpful, and they stay busy as well: sweeping, laundering towels, taking out trash, etc. They have great attitudes and are always "on the move" staying busy. I feel like they are contrary to young workers these days as they do a really commendable job! In terms of businesses near Fringe since 2017, things have changed. The Bar [adjacent to the south] is now Pizzelle's Confections. Pints and Pixels is now adjacent to the north. Parlor Doughnuts replace the original space where Rock 'N Roll Sushi was and Rock 'N' Roll Sushi moved to a larger space next door. I mention all this because an appointment at Fringe is surrounded by fun dining/bar/entertainment options within walking distance that makes your appointment more of a destination for an afternoon or evening! Sandy may be eliminating the cute boutique, if I recall correctly, and I don't know if they still offer a punch card for salon product purchases. Do try Fringe! I've gone to this salon for years, and I've usually always booked with Summer, who has always done a fantastic job with my hair. A few weeks ago, I couldn't fit into her schedule before my birthday vacation, so I ended up making a balayage appointment with Lily. At the end of the appointment, I told her that my hair didn't look toned enough and she said that it was just the lighting, so I went home. It was NOT just the lighting; my hair was barely toned near the front. Even after coming back to the salon and having another hairdresser tone my hair again, it still doesn't look right. I will never, ever recommend anyone go to Lily for any kind of coloring unless they enjoy the un-toned bleach look. The worst part is, I tried to politely tell her that my hair wasn't toned and she brushed me off. She had another hair appointment scheduled directly after me, so it was clear that she was just trying to get me out of her chair so that she could move onto the next person. Her compensation for a terrible job was to give me a free coloring appointment in the future, but no one in my position would ever let her near their hair ever again. I would give this place a one star, but all the other hairdressers have always been very friendly and kind, and I've never had this kind of issue from this salon. I'm highly disappointed, and I will never come back. If you are going to make an hair coloring appointment here, book with anyone except for Lily. She will destroy your hair and then gaslight you so that you leave without causing her any extra work. read more

Stacey gave me the worst haircut of my entire life. For context, I had to bring my child with me to my appointment because he was refusing to stay with who we had arranged to watch him. The front desk girl was very kind and assured me it was fine, even after I said that we could reschedule (I was willing to pay any fees associated with that). As a mom, I hadn't been able to get my hair cut in almost 2 years and desperately needed it done. Stacey was visibly annoyed that I had my son with me but got me back to her chair and let me know that it was fine and that I could hold him, even after I offered once again to reschedule because this obviously wasn't the plan. I showed her a few pictures of what I wanted and she seemed totally disinterested and put out. She started cutting my ends which was fine. Then she got to my bangs and cut straight across without asking me if that's how I wanted it. She spent maybe 10 minutes on my haircut. I looked in the mirror and was horrified. My bangs were absolutely butchered. Not straight at all, with little stray pieces of long hair hanging around. I could've done a better job at home with some scissors. I am absolutely mortified. She said that I just needed to "play around" with it and that the reason they look that way is because I have a slight cowlick. I paid, and left. I get it, having your child with you at an appointment is less than ideal. As a new mom, I was just trying to do something nice for myself for once. Again, I offered to reschedule multiple times but was met with "no, it's fine". I felt very rushed out of there and like I wasn't welcome. When I reached out to the front desk receptionist after I got home, she said she would let Stacey know and we could try to figure out a solution. I haven't heard a peep. Moral of the story: save your money and go somewhere else that you're appreciated, welcomed, and listened to. Hair is vital to a person's confidence and mine is ruined. The only thing that can be done is grow it out and pin it back. I'm sure other stylists here are great, but please do not make the same mistake I did. EDITED TO ADD: Stacey contacted me after 2 days via text claiming that she's "very busy" and that there wasn't much she could do for me. She's refusing to refund me. I visited Fringe for the first time last week after reading a recommendation from my Yelp friend Pamela. She highly recommended Mason and I totally agree. My experience was great. Mason gave me a customized cut and I love it. Fringe is warm and welcoming. I was greeted and offered different beverages while I waited a whole minute or two. Mason is prompt. We discussed a cut for me and then the magic began. He washed and conditioned my hair. With a flash the cape was around me and scissors were cutting and hair was flying. The end result was awesome. I am always very hesitant to get haircuts because the top layer of my hair is very damaged, and so often the hair dressers/stylists I see refuse to treat it delicately. My hair has never been treated as badly as it was at Fringe, and I left my appointment feeling ugly and embarrassed. I have been growing out the top layer of my hair for a year and a half now. You can see in the one photo that it started to blend in and had grown out enough that I was finally able to keep it in a braid. After my appointment at Fringe, my hair is worse off than it was a year and a half ago. I have never been this distraught after a hair cut. I was clear that I only wanted 2-3 inches off the END of my hair. No layers, no messing with the damaged top layer. I expressed my concern throughout the haircut that the round brush and heat were making it worse. My concerns were brushed aside. Now I am left with fried, damaged, uneven hair that no longer stays in a braid or a pony tail. My 18 months of deep conditioning, no heat, and only brushing it when wet & with a wet brush are completely undone. The owner was nice enough to give me a refund, but a refund doesn't fix my hair. Please think twice about going here if you have damaged hair. read more

Looked up this establishment on line while visiting Huntsville. So, drove to its location and, as a walk-in I was received well and had little wait time. After that, it was all downhill! Just wanted to be cleaned up and look presentable. Did I mention that I preferred a good scissors cut. And with the first stroke of the shears, it was to late! And all for the bargain price of $25.00! When everything was said and done. I'd have to say that I've had better haircuts when I was in the military! The others all lasted months with proper care this one lasted less then a week @ $250 plus tip. When I asked her but could be done, Basically she replied your on your own. Anna Kate at Fringe was amazing. I called the day of my appointment and that is who I got to see and I was lucky. She is really nice, and makes sure you like what she is doing. Really knows her stuff. I wanted to go from a year old blond balayage to revamped natural looking balayage highlights, and to add some volume to my hair in a cut. She did that perfectly. Normally I can see streakes or something after a hair appointment, but this is so natural and I love it. Her colors are good, conversation is great, and I will definitely be back! read more

You know how finding a great stylist is like finding a healthy, stable relationship? Yeah. Pretty much impossible. That's why I'm thanking my lucky (five) stars for being pointed to Stacey at Fringe. Not only is she hilarious to talk to (and a great referral for home renovation projects...just ask), she has gorgeous hair and that's one of my prereq's in a stylist. Who wants to get their hair done by someone with a fright wig? Not me. Anyway, the salon is modern and tiny but efficient. There's water and coffee in the lobby area, they sell Moroccan Oil products (amongst others) and this new Crack hair leave- in treatment that all the stylists were raving about on one of my recent visits. Parking can be tight at times in the building's lot, but there's actually a huge adjacent lot and it's fine to park there. I generally get highlights and a haircut, and it runs me about $100 before tip. Don't freak out. Stacey is worth it and this salon is solid. For serious. Call for pricing on other services. With COVID-19 everything has been a little messy, but Torey Brooke communicated so well throughout all of it. This was my first time going to her (I selected her based on reviews and my wavy/curly hair type). She was fantastic and made me feel right at home. I asked for a somewhat simple cut with long layers and some face framing that many other stylists have butchered in the past, but I left so happy. First time here since moving to HSV plus I hadn't gotten a professional cut in about 2 years following my chemo treatment. The size of the salon has at least tripled if not more at the new location on governor's drive. I love the location near the new breweries and restaurants. This salon has grown from a small salon with 4 stations to a really big deal with many stylists and a retail area. It is open by appointment. No front desk or shampoo staff so you deal directly with the stylists doing your hair. I use Christina S. - who's an expert with full curly hair - you know the kind of hair no one can master. Christina has that type of hair so she walks the walk and can talk the talk to help you tame that hair that has mystified you for so long... now of course I'm a guy and absolutely none of this applies to me... but I've sat in that salon and heard countless clients tell her, "how can I make my hair look like yours?"
